********** Contain Some Spoilers**********
I really enjoyed this book, and thought it was a good follow up to Vernal. Tristan has decided to give up on his heart, Serena in order to bring peace to the Woodland and Water Realms. In order to do this he accepts that he has to marry Freya the nymph princess from the Water Realm. Their marriage contract was placed when they were born. Freya apparently loves Tristan and expects that when they get married that Tristan will eventually love her, even though he’s told her multiple times over the years that he doesn’t love her romantically, but more like a sister. Tristan has locked Serena out of the Woodland Realm,, as he knows that she’ll do something reckless to try and stop him. She’s losing it, and it isn’t until Zander shows up and tells her that he thinks that Oren, the Emperor of the Water Realm, and his mother Ophelia, Queen of the Woodland Realm are concluding together about the marriage for some reason, therefore it could be seen as treason, and if the Water and Woodland Realms go to war it could feed over into the Human Realm so Serena is doing her role in coming to the Woodland Realm to investigate. Zander and Serena pretend to be courting each other as a way to allow her entrance to the Woodland Realm since Tristan banned her. F*ck Zander is hilarious and he made the story that much better.
All I can say is that Tristan doesn’t take it well when Zander shows up with Serena. I loved how much Zander and Serena’s friendship grows during this book. Tristan finds out from Freya what the Vergina Sun Prophecy actually means, and why his mother made a deal with Helios. Freya thinks that she is going to fulfil it and will be his cessation after they’re married, but he’s already chosen as his Satyr mark is behind Serena’s ear. After this he finds Zander and Serena searching Ophelia’s office and talking about treason and Tristan’s mark, he appears and they tell him the real reason for Serena being there. Tristan, Zander and Serena know that Oren is up to something since he’s moved the nuptials up. They agree not to tell anyone about their plans, as its hard to no who to trust. Wow, all I can say is Freya is a complete nut job especially about the lengths she’d go to get rid of Serena and get Tristan to love her. She took two Royal Protectors lives, to get Serena out of the Woodland Realm to go investigate but her uncle Asher, the king of the gargoyle race made her stay in the Woodland Realm by Royal Decree. This book was a complete emotional roller coaster, and had a lot of twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the aftermath of Tristan, Zander and Serena’s plan, considering it didn’t turn out like they’d hoped, and more lives were lost. One I was really upset about so thanks for making me shed some tears Randi. I’d definitely recommend this, book, series, universe and author to everyone.
