"This book had more military tactics and plot development than romance. I liked the team, though some characters were more fleshed out than others. In my opinion, the next book should be about Jackal, especially because of the little things we learn about him, like his red ribbon. The banter was funny and just the right amount for such a heavy-themed book. That said, the romance is more of a sexual attraction (and a very slow burn) because Wolf was a tough cookie, that man was more restrained than a nun in a strip club! I was really hoping to see a chapter from his POV just to get some insight. The last 5-7% was a whirlwind of action, smut, and a lot of questions!"
Spent way too long to develop the relationship between wolf and Mia. She spends more time with the boys than wolf. Wolf has no characterization he’s just broody. Also the way she explains the operation analysis is repetitive and boring to read. There needs to be more plot than description of the bathroom for an intentionally short and underdeveloped book like this
I really wanted to love Breach. Military guys, danger, forced proximity? This should have been an easy win for me. Unfortunately, the concept worked better for me than the execution.
There’s quite a lot of focus on technical problems and operational details, and I’ll admit: I simply did not care that much. Give me the characters, the tension and the banter.
And speaking of characters: I LOVED Raven and Jackal. Likeable, funny, and their banter was easily one of the highlights of the book. More of them, please.
Wolf… not so much. I like a dominant MMC, but Wolf was almost permanently stuck on GRUMPY ALPHA MODE™. Too gruff, too dominant, and not enough emotional range for me. I kept waiting for those little glimpses of softness or humanity that would make me fall for him, but they never really landed.
And then there’s the FMC.
This woman tested my patience. Pushy, childish, entitled, dramatic, and apparently convinced that boundaries and professionalism are merely suggestions. I love a stubborn FMC. I love a woman who challenges the MMC. But there’s a difference between being fierce and repeatedly ignoring other people’s boundaries, and unfortunately she landed firmly on the annoying side of that line for me.
I finished the book because I wanted to give the story and the author a fair chance. And I still think the basic concept is great — ARC combined with a military setting has SO much potential. I just wanted more from the execution and especially from the central relationship.
There is a genuinely good spicy scene toward the end, but even then I found myself thinking: why are these two together again? The relationship between Wolf and the FMC never quite clicked for me, so the intimacy felt a little out of place rather than like the payoff I’d been waiting for.
I give this book a 3.5 to 4 ish star. Honestly the book is good, the characters were great especially Jackal I really loved his character and I was hoping to know more about the other characters but I think we have to wait for the second book.
Not gonna there like a moment where I didn’t like reading because the book became repetitive but nevertheless it was good. I was hoping to get more of Mia and Wolf.
But this book was a good read and I hope we see more of Mia and Wolf as well the other members of the ARC unit.
