Morgan's Mountain

Rate this book
On the proverbial run from another failed relationship, Morgan finds herself in the one place she always found solace. With every intention of being alone, she’s surprised when she comes across the one person she never expected.

Luke would go to the ends of the earth to figure out why Morgan ran away five years ago and make things right with her. However, a dangerous trek up the mountains to her family’s cabin might not have been the smartest choice. To say she was happy to see him would be a huge lie. Having to rescue him, mortifying for Luke.

Toss a kidnapper into the mix and their feelings for each other are brought into perspective, revealing parts of themselves they never thought would come to light.

Morgan ran away from home 5 years ago when she saw her boyfriend in a compromising situation. She thought he cheated on her. He doesn't know why she left him. After another relationship gone bad Morgan seeks refuge in the only place where she ever felt at peace, her family's cabin in the mountains. This place is secluded and Morgan is looking forward to spending time on her own. When her uncle lets her know that she needs to rescue someone who got lost in a snowstorm Morgan heads out to do so. She is shocked to see that it's Luke she needs to save.

Luke never understood why Morgan left him all these years ago. He never forgot about her. When he heard she was going up to the cabin he had no choice but to go after her. Unfortunately Luke isn't the only one who has heard that Morgan is back in town. The person who broke them up so many years ago isn't willing to let them get back together without a fight.

Krista Ames has written a fantastic story. In Morgan's Mountain you will find it all. Love, hate, fear and suspense. I enjoyed this story very much and couldn't put it down. Luckily I could finish this book in one sitting because I just had to know how it would end. This is one sweet love story that you don't want to miss.

Could you imagine you’re out at work and you find your ex close to death? What do you do? Leave or do everything you can to save their life. In Morgan’s Mountain, a Montana Series Novella by Krista Ames is a sweet romance story.

Morgan, our main character heads to her families cabin for a needed vacation. She soon find’s herself out searching for a lone hiker lost in the mountains during a blizzard. The hiker nearly frozen and close to death she struggles to warm his cold limbs and get him back to her cabin. Once inside she removes his facemask and finds Luke—the one man she doesn’t want to see.

Luke and Morgan are two heart-warming characters you are engaged with and want to see them solve their problems. Trapped in the mountains they must deal with the environment but also the brewing miscommunication developing between them. I enjoyed Krista Ames characterization from the name of the horses to the two main characters. Their lively arguments endear them to the reader.

In this novella, I wanted more development of the story plotline, for example the best friend’s betrayal in their relationship needed more twist and turns to deepen the happily ever pay off. The character Margie and her role in the conflict lacked depth making the conflict less intense.

Overall, Morgan’s Mountain is an enjoyable read. We as the reader can easily identify with Morgan and relate to her dilemma. If you enjoy sweet romance in a mountain setting you’ll enjoy Morgan’s Mountain.

This book started out so well. The author does a great job writing in a distinct voice for Morgan and Luke. Their history wasn't unique but I adored the setting - specifically being stranded in a remote mountain cabin during a snow storm. This is one of my secret fantasies. (Sh! Don't tell anyone.)
However, once they got back to civilization, the story started falling apart. I didn't find the kidnapping scenario realistic. The kidnapper's supposed motive was frivolous and the suspicions overplayed. I got the feeling this was added at a later date because the author wanted to draw the story out and needed some sort of conflict. It felt forced and fake and ruined my enjoyment of an otherwise great story.
The night together in the cabin also pushed me out of my state of the story. It wasn't Morgan. She was stronger than that.
For these reasons, I could only give the story 3.5 out of five stars, but I loved Ms. Ames' writing style and voice. I will be checking out the other books in this series.

I have had the pleasure to read Krista Ames work before and always find it enjoyable. Morgan's Mountain was no exception. I really enjoyed this story.

Morgan just wants to get away and be by herself. The poor girl has had it with relationships and pretty much just her life in general. She needs to unwind and relax. Morgan is a strong, fiery, intelligent, independent lady that I couldn't help but admire and find intriguing. What she doesn't need is to venture out to rescue someone in the middle of a blizzard. This woman is good at what she does though, and that's rescue. The shock of finding her ex-boyfriend is incredible.

Luke is one of those guys that has fallen for the love of his life and will do anything to get her back. He doesn't intend to almost kill himself on the adventure. I really liked Luke and felt so bad when things just did not seem to be going his way.

Morgan and Luke are highly attracted to each other but there is a serious amount of friction between them. The interaction between these two is fun, witty, and highly entertaining.

Then just when I thought things were going to be OK, things go really wrong. The drama was enough to take my breath away. I could not flip the pages fast enough to see what was going to happen next.

Overall I LOVED Morgan's Mountain and thoroughly enjoyed the story. This is a fairly short story and I finished it in one setting. I couldn't put it down honestly. I had to find out how things were going to end.

Krista Ames has a lovely writing voice. She has created a captivating story with intriguing characters.

If you are looking for fun yet thrilling quick read then I would highly recommend Morgan's Mountain.

This is part of the Montana Novella Series, however it reads just fine on it's own.

I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Morgan's Mountain.

Misinterpreted situations usually result in rash decisions, confusion and regret. Such was the case of Luke and Morgan's aborted relationship.

On the verge of getting married five years ago, Morgan saw Luke in a position that made her doubt the sincerity of his feelings for her and sent her running. Luke, for his part, had no idea what he did that caused her to leave. Five years later and the questions are still there. As is the doubt. Forced into close quarters with that wall of questions between them, they face each other and come clean about that fateful day.

This isn't a rocket-science story. It's obvious Luke and Morgan are meant to be together and that they will have their happily ever after. It's a sweet/sensual second-chance romance that, despite its seemingly textbook order, was a genuinely good read. The addition of a crazed mutual friend was kind of an odd twist, one I didn't feel was necessary, because all I cared about was Luke and Morgan and the unfinished business between them.

Ms. Ames delivers a story with character readers can relate to. Morgan's uncertainty will resonate with someone out there, while Luke's confusion will undoubtedly hit home with someone else. There isn't a lot of intensity to this story, neither are there layers upon layers of complexity to sort through. It's a sweet romance that showcases what a second-chance at love looks like. If this is what you're looking for, needing, wanting, or craving in a book, Morgan's Mountain will fit the bill.

3.5*

This was a fun, flirty, adventurous, quick read. Even though I felt this story needed a little more spit and polish - I did enjoy it! I liked the characters (good character development) and I loved the storyline, although not original, still one I always love to read about.

About the only thing that really bothered me was the sex scene seemed out of place. I feel like it should have waited till maybe towards the end. For me it took away from the story.
The rest I really liked. Yes, it also was unrealistic, but this didn't bother me and never does with "fiction" for me it doesn't have to be real. If I wanted real I would read non-fiction.

Krista did a great job with painting the scene for us. I could really picture the cabin, the surrounding grounds, the horses, everything - nice job! I love it when books can put a picture in my head.

All-in-all I thought this was definitely a worth while read! This was my first book from this author - I didn't even know she had other books. Sorry Krista! I would absolutely read more books from this author.

Thank you Roane Publishing and Krista Ames for sending me this e-book for my honest review!

Starting out you meet Morgan who's been gone for six years. She assumed her boyfriend Luke was cheating on her. With that, she ran away. I don't know about you but I'd probably try to figure everything out before running away.

Luke finds out that Morgan's back, so he needs to see her again and figure out why she left. I think Morgan is just as stubborn as Luke is, maybe that's why they are so good together.

This novella is not short on action. Though I didn't connect emotionally with the characters, I felt the story was good. So much crazy happens but love wins in the end....Lissa

Excellent beginning, loved the setting and the two main characters. Once they sleep together - which surprised me as Morgan didn’t want anything to do with Luke - I felt the rest of the story was rushed, including the accident and kidnapping. I enjoyed Krista’s style and will continue reading her Montana Series.
