About the author

Author of Urban Chick Lit, Erotica, and Contemporary Urban Fiction... Jessica N. Watkins was born April 1st in Chicago, Illinois. She obtained a Bachelors of Arts with Focus in Psychology from DePaul University and Masters of Applied Professional Studies with focus in Business Administration from the like institution. Working in Hospital Administration for the majority of her career, Watkins has also been an author of fiction literature since the young age of nine. Eventually she used writing as an outlet during her freshmen year of high school as a single parent: “In the third grade I entered a short story contest with a fiction tale of an apple tree that refused to grow despite the efforts of the darling main character. My writing evolved from apple trees to my seventh and eighth grade classmates paying me to read novels I had written about kids our age living the lives our parents wouldn’t dare let us”. At the age of twenty-eight, Watkins’ chronicles have matured into steamy, humorous, and realistic tales of women's literature. She hopes that The Epitome of Femistry series will successfully emulate ideal femininity while tackling stereotypes, familiar heartache, and relatable distress in a humorous, sophisticated, and erotic fashion.

Entertaining

I really struggled the first half of this book, but but once it started connecting, I will say it was entertaining and had funny moments

I was confused on what Kash and Novi had to do with this story until 70%. I know this is the same universe as the Cartier’s but I went back and neither one of them was mentioned. Novi chapter felt like “filler chapter” other than her growing relationship with Prodigy you got more information about them from Legend 2 chapters

I did like Sonnet and Vega a lot. I love that Sonnet gave off meek but was getting in the field even if it was Vega on the other end lol.

It was few editing issues like with Sonnet description and visual being two different things and with Renzo mixing up Renée and Denise‘s name but didn’t really take away from the story

Whew!

I was late to the Cartel series and I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d like it. But I definitely enjoyed it and the characters I thought I wouldn’t like, I enjoyed the most. I was hoping that a Street Kings series was coming cause I couldn’t take another baby from the Cartier’s lol… I LOVED the intro to this series! Vega did it for me, I love the sense of humor and banter between the Kings and how you see a little bit of them all. Sonnet was my GIRL though!!! She appears boring and meek, like she’s a true lame but sis is very multidimensional lol, you’ll see! She’s not afraid of being who she is even though she’s afraid of things. She’s a book girlie, so what’s not to love?!?! This one won’t disappoint for sure, read it!

Omg

This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. I loved that all the crew were involved .I loved Sonnet and Vega they're perfect for each other. I can't lie, though sonnet stressed me out like I know why she felt the way she did, but still I think survival should be more important than feelings .idk, maybe it's because I'm an introvert, and I'd love to stay in my house away from the public if I could add a fine rich man who wanted only me and I'd be in heaven. The twist and turns and the betrayal was intense. I can't wait to see what happens next I feel so bad for the boys their world as they knew it is about to explode.

This was an easy 5-star read

As crazy as it sounds, I’m so glad Vega kidnapped Sonnet, he turned out to be exactly who and what she needed. I was relieved when Lowe pulled through, but that hospital scene had me in tears laughing when Saint told Lux he was screaming like a bitch when Promise sic’d her dogs on him 🤣. My heart aches for Prodigy and I can’t wait to read his book. Amazing job, Jessica!

Jessica Watkins never misses! Idk how she pens me a new perfect man the way that she does but I’m here for it. The way Sonnet wasn’t looking for anything and the man of her dreams found her was so magical! To find a man that wants to love and protect you the way Vega did was like a hood Prince Charming and Cinderella story 🥰

I enjoyed this book and fell in love with Vega, he is so open and in touch with his feeling for Sonnet; I love the way he cared for and secured her. This was a great first book to the series and the way it introduced all the new characters was well thought out. Can’t wait for Prodigy’s story in book two.
