U2: The Complete Lyrics 1991-2024, Vol. 2
On April 13, 2023 the 2023 and 2024 subscriber gifts for U2 dot com were announced to be a two part collection of lyrics. The second book, for the 2024 subscription year, was originally announced to cover the years 1996 – 2023, but was revised April 19 to cover 1991 – 2023 instead. In late 2023 it was announced that the book would be expanded to include the 2024 release of How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb as well.
Although planned for the 2024 subscription year, the gift was delayed, and was the second time U2 dot com did not fulfill a gift prior to the end of the subscription year. (The first volume was likewise delayed but only by a couple of weeks.) The site is currently stating that copies of this book will start to ship in April 2025, and that the delay is due to the addition of the How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb lyrics. (February 17, 2025)
An email sent on December 18 states, “This limited edition book is now in final production… and almost twice the size of Volume I. Covering songwriting over thirty four years (compared to eleven in the first volume) the new book contains a wealth of rare photography as well as original contributions from Brian Eno, Howie B, Jacknife Lee, Rocky O’Riordan and band members. Early in 2025 we’ll be mailing all qualifying subscribers with details on publication and delivery dates.” Shipping notifications started going out on May 23, 2023 with the first reports of subscription gifts being received arriving the same day.
The book is in hardcover, and features images of all four members of U2 on the front cover, matching the images used on the Songs of Surrender album. Adam, The Edge and Larry are all seen in photos from the Pop album campaign, while the Bono photo is taken from a mid-80s photo shoot with Anton Corbijn, and does not match the period that this volume covers.

The second of a two-part fan club publication, this volume contains all the band’s published musical works from their artistic reinvention in the early 1990s through their run of shows as the opening act for the Sphere in Las Vegas where they revisited that era three decades later. Also included are photos visualizing the band’s creative evolution alongside their lyrical one, with essays dedicated to songs from each album revealing the band’s songwriting process and legacy. Read as part of my celebration of U2’s 50th anniversary on September 25th.
