When Rachel travels to the ocean in Destin, Florida, to get away alone with God from everyone and everything to think about her life--her troubled marriage to Jackson, their unhappy daughter Faith, the strained relationship with her stepdaughter Autumn, and Rachel's chaotic writing career--she was seeking answers. At the beach, Rachel is praying about whether to divorce her husband Jackson or not. Their marriage is causing Faith pain and is breaking Rachel's heart. Rachel feels like she just needs a quiet place to rest and write. Although she knew that it was hurricane season in Florida, Rachel thinks she's going to be okay. She doesn't know about the dangerous hurricane that is brewing. Will her beach house stand? Is she going to die? Rachel's faith in Christ will be tested. Rachel will have to face not only the turbulent storm outside of her, but the one inside her heart as well.

Storm Tossed is a deeply moving story about family, love, relationships—life. It is filled with very real characters who are doing their best to handle the challenges of relationships and life circumstances. Beth does a wonderful job of creating dynamic characters, characters that are real, flawed, filled with weaknesses and strengths—human. I felt like I really got to know some special people and when they are forced to deal with the tragedy of a hurricane and being separated from loved ones, we see even deeper into their lives and anxiously turn the pages to find out what happens next.
The story is one of faith, a great read that brought me to tears more than once, sad tears and happy tears; it was a very moving story filled with hope.
