The Unlikely Heir
When scandal rips through the royal family, laid-back American Callum is hauled from obscurity to become heir to the throne. Learning which fork to use is hard enough. But the Crown must stand apart from politics, and there’s no version of Callum and Oliver’s love that doesn’t end with one of them giving up everything.

The Unlikely Pair

But terrorists, wolves, and starvation aren’t the only dangers awaiting them. The longer they’re forced together, the harder it becomes to remember why they hate each other.

The Unlikely Spare

This blockbuster has three of the best stories ever plus a bonus one. These "Unlikely" books were hilarious, totally unrealistic but loving the idea they were possible. In " Unlikely Pair", Toby and Harry were political rivals stranded in the wilderness. In "Unlikely Heir", the Prince of Wales, Callum and the Prime Minister, Oliver, fall for each other. And in " Unlikely Spare", Callum 's little brother, Nicholas falls for his undercover bodyguard, Eoin on a state trip to Australia. The bonus involves finding an unknown father. All of these books are delightfully British with royalty, pomp and circumstance, expectations and a dash of ordinary bloke thrown in. They make the aristocracy and royalty wonderfully human with all our foibles and follies yet give us the passionate, forbidden romance we long for them. I received a copy of this and this is my voluntary opinion.

Like all of Jax’s wonderful stories, The Unlikely Dilemmas series is, quite simply, fantastic! The Unlikely Heir started us off with the perfect romance. Callum and Oliver fall deeply in love, taking the reader along for the ride. The pacing was exquisite; feelings were given time to develop at a natural pace and nothing felt forced. The conflict and angst were a bit more than what I usually read, but trusting Jax to provide a happy ending got me through the tough parts. And what a delightful ending it was! I even shed a few happy tears.

Next up was The Unlikely Pair. Toby was snarky and hilarious right from the get-go. Harry started off stiff and pompous, but gradually the layers of his personality were peeled back and we got to know and appreciate him, as did Toby. The story was filled with peril and plenty of action as our MCs survived a plane crash and encountered lots of survival challenges. It was a bit disorienting to them when they returned to civilization and they needed to reconcile their fraught experience with their previous sheltered lives, all the while unraveling the emotions they now felt for each other. The story ended on a high note and I finished with tears of pride and happiness on my face.

The final book was adrenaline-fueled thriller The Unlikely Spare. Filled with her trademark snarky banter and deep emotional connections, Eoin and Nicholas together faced threats that first surfaced in The Unlikely Pair and coalesced in this story with some remarkable results. Pacing was perfect, all the scenes flowed together organically, and the emotional shifts felt completely natural and fully justified by the narrative. The action sequences were exciting and easy to picture in my mind, and I could totally imagine this book being made into a terrific movie.

Finally, the bonus stories contained a few delightfully unexpected surprises. Don’t miss this wonderful compilation!

The Unlikely Heir
I am so glad that I took a chance on a Jax Calder book a while ago as she has become one of my favorite authors and her books are always ones that I looking forward too. Jax's latest book is fantastic! I have read it a couple of times since I received and it was so worth the wait. The drama, intrigue, love, connection, and HEA was fantastic in this book.
The Unlikely Pair
4.5 Stars-This was a really good book. I really enjoyed connection and chemistry that came out of being stranded together for Toby and Harry. This forced proximity is funny to read but also heartwarming. I really enjoyed this book.
The Unlikely Spare
This was a fantastic book! I have loved this series and this book is no exception! Eoin and Nicholas were fantastic together. I loved the drama, connection, love, tension, intrigue, chemistry, action, suspense and HEA that this book had to offer. Jax has made this series a must read and a reread. I can’t wait to see what Jax has in store for us next.

4.5* rounded up.

I read all three books already and download the Trilogy mainly because of the addition of a bonus short story but I had plenty of fun re-reading each of the books.

In all three you need to put any logic aside for this and embrace some disbelief but if you want a book to laugh with, don't want to put aside and cheer for the characters, then this is for you. It's ideal to cosy up, enjoy some fun and enjoy HEAs with shutting reality out.

In all books is plenty of banter, of snark which are nearly insults and the slow discovery by both charaters that the other person is a lot more than what meets the eye and the men show what they are beneath their public roles.

For me Callum will be my favourite, the klutz, the golden retriever who just wants to have someone who loves him, weird and wonderful quirks included.
I love the fact that the bonus story is about Oliver as well.

UNLIKELY DILEMMAS: THE COMPLETE TRILOGY includes all three novels in Jax Calder's exciting and moving five-star series, plus an additional novella. THE UNLIKELY HEIR covers Callum Prescott's unlikely rise from obscurity and subsequent tumble into a relationship with the prime minister, Oliver Hartwell. THE UNLIKELY PAIR finds political rivals Harry Matheson and Toby Webley escaping determined kidnappers in the wilderness, and that experience opening their eyes to what they have in common... THE UNLIKELY SPARE sees Detective Sergeant Eoin O’Connell assigned to act as Prince Nicholas Alexander’s personal bodyguard as they dodge determined attackers and attempt to keep their burgeoning attraction at bay. And the all-new LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON gives readers a look at Oliver meeting his own father...

Jax Calder's excellent writing makes this set one not to be missed!

Absolutely amazing! If you're in the mood for binging awesome written royal romances, this book box is just for you. And if you've already read the books it just makes binging them all again that much easier.
For me it's almost always the case that a like the pair of the first book in a series just a touch more than anything that comes after. It's just always been this way. So re-visting our favourite pair in the extra epilogue made my day. I had to grin through it all and could have happily read another 100 pages just of family stories. And PLEASE Jax, write the extra story you have in mind. And please, with a pretty cherry on top, with cameos of certain half-brothers and members of the Royal family. I'll certainly inhale it again and again and again.

I love this trilogy, have read and re-read it and listened to it on audiobook.
I'd never thought I'd like to read about royals or politicians falling in love as I find their profession deeply uninteresting. Necesssary (when it comes to politics), but at least in my country, most politicians on a higher level feel... less than attractive (in every sense).
But this is to some degree fantasy, fairy tale, simply fiction. And a lovely kind of fiction at that. With big emotions and amazingly relatable MCs.
I read this trilogy mostly for the epilogue - Ollie finding his biological father. And it's another pleasant few hours spent with Callum and Oliver, so what's not to like? Yes, fairy-tale like once again, but who cares? I read for escapism, not realism.

I love this whole series, and the bonus story included in this set is the perfect icing on the cake of deliciousness that is Jax Calder's work. The characters are all wonderful, and over the three main stories there is intrigue, adventure, an imagined world that is beautifully constructed within the realities of politics and royalty, and true love between unlikely people. They are also funny and heartwarming, with amusing turns of phrase and some cracking one liners. The bonus story was fun too, and a lovely touch to add to the whole. My only complaint was that it finished too soon! As someone who loves to reread books, these characters are ones I like to revisit now and then

Like Father, Like Son is a bonus short story companion to The Unlikely Heir exclusive to the Unlikely Dilemmas box set. Former Prime Minister Oliver is about to become a father with his husband Crown Prince Callum and has him wanting to track down his own father he has never known. This was just a sweet and cute story that really left me wanting more. It’s probably the most grounded story of the whole trilogy and just a nice epilogue of sorts. Oliver meeting his father and his family brought some funny and intimate moments of domesticity and belonging.

I have previously read and loved all three of the novels in this collection, so when I found out that there was now a bonus short story I jumped at the chance to read it. And it was great! A wonderful conclusion to the trilogy.

I love Jax Calder's writing. She creates such great characters, and I really enjoy their voices. The romances are also top-notch. Her books are always full of humor that really vibes with mine, so I find them really funny.

Highly recommend if you are a fan of books like Red White and Royal Blue, and books by Alexis Hall, Cat Sebastian, Alexandra Rowland, and KJ Charles.

*Thanks to Jax Calder for providing an advance copy for review.

I’ve already loved, read, and reviewed this series, so this review is for Callum and Oliver’s bonus short story Like Father, Like Son. The author’s sense of humour shines, as does their interaction and obvious love for each other. I love how comfortable they are with each other, with all the feels with Oliver finding his father, and family. The meeting scenes are particularly wonderful and fun, with Oliver’s new-found sister’s sense of humour a highlight.

If you haven’t read any of this series yet, what are you waiting for?

What a treat to have all of the Unlikely Dilemmas stories all in one book! Callum and Oliver were the first characters I met from Jax Calder so they will always be my number one! And I love to get glimpses of them throughout the following books, which are all incredible on their own. And the bonus story! Oliver meeting his biological father and family was absolutely heartwarming, what a lucky royal baby!

Highly recommend this series, now in a convenient box set with bonus material! The Unlikely Heir is one of my favourite books, and the other two are also a hell of a lot of fun. I very much enjoyed the bonus story about my favourite couple, it was fantastic to revisit them and spend a little more time in their world.

Yes I paid twelve dollars to read the bonus novella but I love Oliver. Four stars only because I wish the author had made the novella available as a small add on instead of requiring the entire purchase.
