A spectacularly fun fic from the 2015 HD Smoochfest on LJ.
Draco and Pansy do a morning radio show for the WWN, and one of their segments is called "eye in the sky" in which they use a telescope to look down on Diagon Alley and snark about anything they see there.
Harry works at the Magical Menagerie pet shop in Diagon Alley and Draco, through his "eye in the sky" excuse, gets to spy on Harry, and notices him behaving increasingly bizarrely. Draco reasons that it should be part of his job to find out why.
Very, very fun.
Some Favorite Quotes: "Just in case you missed that, everyone, my wonderful colleague has arrived almost an hour late and is now insulting my clothing, so that's our Monday morning progressing nicely." "Business as usual," Pansy says.
Being friends with Pansy is a lot like swimming with sharks. Little ones. Baby sharks, perhaps. It's never boring, but every now and then one of them will grab you and lightly savage you, just for its own entertainment.
"That was not a weather-related malfunction, everyone," he murmurs, bending and attempting to poke her away from the telescope. "Pansy is actually lost for words, which is probably fortunate, as I doubt the ones she was looking for were suitable for broadcast."
"and then I sort of forgot all about what you'd said because it was sunny and you were smiling at me"
"Hermione was horrified. She just kept saying 'oh god, Harry' over and over. Ron kept making me toast, because apparently that solves everything."
3.5 stars! This was a fun little fic where Draco is a radio co-host with Pansy and the two gossip on news and goings on in town. Draco is more mature, I think about 30 in this story, and he has changed a lot from our spoiled little Malfoy. When newpapers start saying that the wizarding worlds most famous figure has become a recluse, Draco feels the need to check for himself, for reasons he doesn't even understand. From there he begins to witness increasingly odd behavior, either through the 'eye in the sky' telescope they use from the radio booth, or from Draco's sporatic visits to the petshop where Harry works. Despite H's strangely colored hair and alligator walks, he is still the same calm lovable boy he's always been as Draco begins to discover for himself.
What can I say; this author is a favorite of mine and she can do no wrong! This was an enjoyable read, though the explanation for Harry's weirdness seemed a bit lame to me. But the point is the journey and H and D get to know each other as adults and of course we get an a lovely HEA. Very much recommend anything by this author!!
