Out Of The Blue

*This book is #2 in the 'Bama Boys series. While it can be read as a standalone, it is a continuation of book #1 and is meant to be read after Forever Red.*

Putting others needs before his own was all Mike Carson had ever done.

First, it was the friends he loved more than family. Then it was his country. By nineteen, he was a father, a husband and fighting in a war not many people believed in. After an accident ended his career and his life fell apart, he filled his days keeping screaming fans from reaching the most famous country rock star in the world. And, pining after a woman who would never love him.
Then, everything changed.

He thought he could handle anything that was thrown his way. He thought running my security detail would be the easiest job he’d ever had. He thought he’d be able to keep me safe without getting attached.

He was wrong.

They call me reckless, selfish, and slutty. In reality, I’ve just stopped caring what everyone else thinks. I’m determined to have some fun, to live life my way, and to make Mike realize that being a little selfish isn't the worst thing in the world.

I think we both have our work cut out for us.

This book can be read as a standalone but it is a continuation of characters we meet in Forever Red.

Mike has had feelings for Lia almost all his life and after she marries his best friend and employer, he decides to move and take a job as security at a country bar. It’s here that Lia finds him again after months of absence and asks him to take on the security for her new client, Molly.

Molly is a rising country singer and deemed the bad girl of country. Labelled a slut by false rumours spread in gossip rags that she’s been having an affair with Nate, she is going through a difficult time. She’s trying to find a balance between staying true to herself while conforming to what fans of country want her to be.
\
Now, I hate slut shaming in romance novels. It sends me into blind rages, so I was absolutely thrilled with Molly’s character. She’s not a glorified virginal princess, instead she’s a tatted up woman who is proud of her sexuality. The author takes on issues of sexism, double standards and slut-shaming and I absolutely loved that!

While Mike and Molly were friends before, neither really felt any attraction towards each other. Molly comes from a sketchy past and Mike is still harbouring feelings for Lia. Through being in charge of Molly’s security detail, he starts feeling protective of her and by being forced to spend so much time together, he starts to notice the vulnerable girl beneath the hard-ass and the many layers that make up this complicated woman.

Mike was wonderful. The strong silent type, he never batted an eye at anything thrown his way. As Mike starts to see her in a different light, his protectiveness over her can longer be written off as him simply doing his job.

There’s a lot happening in this book, stalkers and death threats, secrets from the past unveiled, manipulative ex-wives and some sizzling chemistry between Molly and Mike – and yet this book is excellently paced. Nothing felt rushed or overly dramatic. I lapped this book up word for word like a starving person!

Definitely recommend this book!

Ahhh!! YEEESSSSS!!! Mike’s story! I was so excited to read this book. I loved Forever Red, Nate and Lia’s story, and so wanted for Mike to get his own. And Ms. Adams has answered those prayers!

We met both Mike and Molly in the first book. Mike is Lia and Nate’s best friend, and head of Nate’s security. Molly was a young country star, just starting out when Nate took her under his wing.

After Nate and Lia got married, Mike had a hard time so he left the tour. He couldn’t be around them every day, watching their love. However, Lee was still his best friend and when she called, he answered.

“At the end of the day, one thing we can agree on. Less is more than my best friend; she’s my constant, the light in my dark, and the one person I can always count on.”

So, when she asked him to come back to the tour and be Molly’s security, he said yes.

I adore Molly. She is sassy and feisty!

“Hell, when you lived with a gaggle of men or as I like to call them, my flock of cock, in a rolling house the size of a dorm room, you tend to see more than you want.”

Though, in this book, we got to learn a lot of her secrets that I was quite surprised by. It just made me love her and her strength even more!

Mike and Molly knew each other and were friends before he started working for her, but neither one expected the attraction between them.

“I craved her. I had to have her. I was so unbelievable fucked.”

The two of them together were sizzling! I really loved watching both Mike and Molly figure out who they are, what they want, and how to get it. They both had tragic pasts and were able to get past them together! This book was the perfect blend of sweet, sexy, funny, and action! And that epilogue—perfection!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED how much of Nate and Lia and the rest of the ‘Bama Boys that we got in this story! I cannot wait for Noah and Emily’s story!! ~ Tiffany, 5 stars

~~~
Michael Carson had his heart broken when his best friend, Lia married his other best friend, Nate Kelly. So, he does what he needs to and checks out for a while, needing time to think and decide what to do now.
Molly has been called every name in the book due to the media always overanalyzing and taking things out of context, thinking she's trying to ruin Nate and Lia's marriage. But that is just so far from what the truth really is. One thing is for sure, Molly needs better security detail and Lia knows it, so she goes out to get back the best...Mike Carson!
I liked Mike and Molly’s chemistry, yet at times I didn't feel they were really connected—especially when he would call her little one, kid and so on, even after they had been intimate. Other than that, and that annoying ex, whom I really wanted to reach out and smack, I loved how Mike and Molly found love with one another. Though, I was thrown off when Molly’s past came barreling at her, and my goodness, Ms. Adams, you had me in tears!
There is plenty of hotness, drama and mystery but, most of all, hope... Hope that there is light at the end of the dark tunnel. Thank you for sharing Mike and Molly’s story with us! ~ Kara, 4.5 stars
Loved this one.
This is Molly and Mike's story. All of the action took place in the now so this was a much less angsty read than Forever Red. He's her bodyguard and someone's been sending her threats so there was some delish chemistry simmering between them as they both tried not to cross the line, then they were trying to keep things secret. Loved that.
Complete story, recommended.
I enjoyed the first book in this series 'Forever Red'. However, that book had a few plot holes but I'm glad to see the author has written a much better story for Mike and Molly.
In the epilogue of Forever Red we realised Mike has been in love with Lia for years...even though she is now happy and married to his best friend. This book starts with Mike having taken a different job (he's in Security) so he doesn't have to spend too much time around the Newleyweds. But Lia tracks Mike down and asks him to come and be the Security Guard for Country Singer Molly (who also featued in Forever Red and is also good friends with Nate and Lia and knows Mike). I would say you can read this as a standalone as most things from the first book are mentioned in this book, so it's not too confusing.
Mike has known Molly a few years but has never looked at her in a romantic sense but within a few days of working closely together, they both sense the chemistry between them and soon they are lovers. I loved Mike. He's very alpha male. I liked Molly as well but I would have liked a bit more background on her own story as at times, it seemed like we didn't know enough or it wasn't really explained enough and even at the end, we never heard what happened with her other sister (who is a complete cow!).
At first what with Mike calling Molly 'kid' and 'kiddo', I was picturing her as early 20's but she's actually 28 and I worked out Mike is around 31, so there's not much of an age difference but Mike seemed older but I think it's the way he spoke. He's protective of Molly from the get go and although Mike thinks he's in love with Lia, it's obvious really that he's not and when Lia explains what she thinks of the situation to Molly, it makes sense. You never feel like Mike is pining for Lia once he gets together with Molly. There is a minor mystery plot involving Molly's past. I like the writing style of this author and this one was much better written than the first book. The author commented on my GR review of the first book, so I know she listens to her readers and I can see she made a concentrated effort to 'show don't tell' in this book.
My only criticism is that I wanted more of Mike and Molly together in a romantic way. Yes there are sex scenes early on but later in the story, they just seem to cuddle and fall asleep together and the sexual side of their relationship rarely made an appearance. Also, things with Mike's ex were 'told' in the Epilogue. I think the ending seemed a bit rushed. However, I'm looking forward to Noah and Emily's story which is next.
I absolutely loved Forever Red and absolutely LOVED Mike in that. So as always with a follow up I was a little nervous it wouldn't live up to expectation. And obviously I needed a perfect heroine for him.
Did it live up to expectation - no. It exceeded what I could have hoped for. I was hooked from page one. Molly is definitely one of my all time favourite heroines. She is a mixture of sassy and insecure. She is absolutely amazing. Total girl crush.
And all I need to say about Mike is AMAZING!
I love this series.
I think I missed something…
I mean, the book has incredible ratings.
The summary pulls you in.
I didn’t even bother reading the first book of the series because I assumed I would get the gist of it all.
Well.
This story confused the living heck out of me. Definitely not what I was expecting. The H (Mike) seemed to be more obsessed with the “one who got away” (Red/Lia/Lee – the h in the first book). He was in love with her – past and present. There was way too much focus on that, too little focus on his feelings developing for the h (Molly Ray). I have NO CLUE when these two actually fell in love with each other because it was either missing or brushed by.
This book missed so many marks that I can’t even begin to count.
Boo.
For adult readers.
Molly have up her tough girl look to chase her dream of singing country music. When Molly ends up in the tabloids again, her manager cancels many of her your stops, so she fired him. Molly then hire her best friend's wife as her new manager and her first idea is to hire Molly some security.
Mike has been in love with Lia forever. He left his security job because he couldn't watch her be all lovey dovey with her new hubby Nate. While Mike is drinking his troubles set at his favorite bar, Lia walk in and tells him it's time to come home. Lia needs him to protect their old friend, Molly.
I'd have to has this book has it all. There lies, cheating spouses, regret, love, true love, and even a racing lunatic. This all wrap up in a compelling story of the lives of Mike and Molly mostly, but the characters from book one come in quite a bit. These two characters both have pretty rough pasts, but their stories do fully come, which I like.
I think this book is well written and has an interesting story line.
When I read Forever Red I completely fell in love with Nate Kelly. But there was also the man behind the scenes that I could not over look or forget about. He is the man that everyone loved, the man that everyone wanted to see happy, and the man that we all wanted a story for. He is Mike Carson, and my God did I fall in love with him.
I think anyone who read Forever Red wanted Mike’s story just as badly as I did. When I first read the blurb for Out of the Blue I wondered who his love interest could possibly be. And then Carina sent me the first few chapters to beta read and when I found out who it was all I could say was “No Freakin Way!” And by the end of the book I can sit here and tell you that Carina Adams is pure genius. I was completely shocked by who his interest was but my God was she the perfect choice. If you fell in love with Nate and Lia then just wait until you read Mike Carson and his girl’s story because they will knock your socks off. These two are just made for each other.
There is apart of me that wants to keep it a secret so you can be pleasantly surprised just as I was. But I know with all the reviews out there it won't be possible. But I may just keep you guessing a bit longer. Lol.
At the end of Forever Red, Ms. Adams gave us an epilogue that was powerful and at the same time shocking. It broke my heart to see how much pain Mike was in. I knew he loved Lia and that they had a special relationship. But I never thought he felt that way about her. As much as she belongs with Nate a part of me wishes he got his girl. So seeing how much he loves her I could not imagine how he could ever get past that and find happiness himself. But Ms. Adams gave him an amazing and beautiful woman who he loves in ways that he never loved Lia. And over time he sees that maybe everything isn't always as it seems.
Mike left his job as Nate Kelly's security guard because seeing the woman he loved married and in love with someone else was just too painful for him. But when Lia comes knocking on his door begging him to return back to work because they need, him he can't say no. But this time around it's not Nate that he will be working for. He will be guarding and protecting Molly Ray. He's known Molly for a few years since working for Nate. They're friends and Molly is a really awesome girl. But never in a million years did he think that he would fall for her. Yes!!!! Molly Ray and Mike Carson!! See total shock!! Ok back to the story. Mike's job is to protect Molly but along the way they become so much more. But Molls has a past and so does Mike. With their past coming back to haunt the both of them, the rumors flying around, and the paparazzi everywhere, can these two even make it together. Or when the tour ends will their relationship as well? Hmmmm...you will have to read for yourself.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved Mikey and Mols. These two have a connection that is amazing and honestly I really have no words for it. They are sexy and adorably cute together. Mike is in a word perfect. He is sexy, controlling in a way that makes him even sexier but he also has one of the biggest hearts EVER!!!! He will do anything to protect his family and those he loves. Protecting Molly was a job but to be honest it was so much more for him. He protected her because he cared. I thought I loved Nate Kelly but man I think may love Mikey more. He is that special!
And Molly...well I have one big girl crush on her. She has been through a lot in her life. And while she is spunky and feisty there is also a part of her that doesn’t always stick up for herself. But with a man like Mike by her side and two best friends such as Nate and Lia she will get through what life has decided to throw her way.
I loved watching these two fall for each other. They both felt it, the connection that they had but I think they were also both scared and it took a little longer to admit what was really going on. But I felt it. I felt them falling for each other. I felt the love, the connection, and the emotions that they felt. I was on this journey with them and experience all of the emotions with them.
I don’t think anyone would ever expect Mikey and Mols to end up together but Ms. Adams gave us such an amazingly beautiful story that when it was all over you just knew that there is no other perfect match for Mike Carson than Molly Ray. When he called her kid I just melted. When she called him Mikey, a huge smile stretched across my face (sigh). Words cannot express how much I loved these two. They are right up there with Lia and Nate.
Once again Carina Adams has blown me away. It is her words that made me feel everything with these characters. I was hooked from the very beginning until the very last page. And to be honest I did not want to let go of these characters. I was so sad to see this story end. It stayed with me for days. This is one of those books that I can go back and read over and over again. As I write this review I have a smile on my face just thinking of Mike and Molly.
I have been a fan of Carina’s since the very beginning. I fell in love with her writing and her characters since reading her debut novel (Always Been Mine). I think she has grown so much as a writer and each book just gets better and better. I look forward to anything that this woman writes. I am so excited for Noah’s story and looking forward to more time with this family that I feel like I am a part of. Another amazing job Ms. Adams!!
**BETH'S REVIEW**
I first fell in love with this series when a friend told me that Forever Red was a must read. I was new to Carina Adams so I wasn’t sure what to expect in the writing but being a second chance romance, I knew I couldn’t go wrong. I fell in love with Nate and Lia’s story but I also fell in love with the author’s writing. So when I saw we were going to get Mike’s book, Nate’s hot as hell best friend and body guard, I couldn’t wait.
Mike has been friends with Lia since they were very young. He’s been in love with her just as long, but he has one issue, she is in love with his best friend Nate and they are now happily married. Not being able to be around them and their love right now he has left the tour and working as a bouncer in a bar and spending time with his son Jake. That is until Lia convinces him to come back to the tour to be Molly’s body guard. Molly is in a bad place, the press is crucifying here with false stories about her and Nate cheating behind Lia’s back, making her out to be the bad guy in all of this. She has also just fired her manager and hired Lia to do the job. But there is more to Molly and her past than most know. Mike and Molly have always been good friends with them both being part of the tour and both being best friends to Nate and Lia but now that they will be spending every moment together for the next few months, that friendship will grow into more, something neither of them do when it comes to relationships
I will be honest, it has been six months since I read Forever Red and since that time there have been many other books read during that time, so it took me the few chapters to get back into the story but once I did, it quickly all came back. Out of the Blue could definitely be read as a standalone but for me personally, to completely enjoy this book, you really should read it as a series. We get to meet both Mike and Molly in Forever Red. Mike is Nate’s body guard and best friend while Molly is Nate’s opening act and best friend. And I must say, I loved Nate and Lia and really enjoyed both Molly and Mike enough that I was looking forward to their book but I never would have thought I would love their story more than Nate and Lia’s. Carina Adams pulled me in right from the very first chapter and didn’t let go until the very last page. I loved her writing in Forever Red, but her writing in Out of Blue was truly outstanding, never once falling flat nor feeling like too much detail and filler.
I absolutely loved Mike’s character. Mike has always been in love with Lia but Lia was in love with Nate, his best friend and Nate has been in love with Lia. Mike was such a selfless person, he put Lia and Nate’s love for each other before himself and he did the same with Molly, putting her wellbeing and safety before himself. He was strong, built big and was rough and gruff but when you got to see the real Mike he was nothing more than a big hot and sexy teddy bear. I truly couldn’t imagine a more perfect BBF, he was just amazing in every way possible.
I loved Molly, she was funny and sassy, and a don’t mess with kind of girl. But behind that front she showed everyone was a sweet girl who hurt, and had been hurt. She had the wild and no care attitude but deep down and behind her walls was a girl that was just looking to have someone love her.
After reading Forever Red and loving it, I knew Out of the Blue would be no different. I was completely wrong, it was so much better. Mike and Molly’s story was so beautifully written, it had it sweet and funny parts and it had it’s hot and sexy parts too, but this one left me sitting on the edge of my seat with it’s heartbreaking moments and the suspenseful ones too. It was an absolute perfect mix that told an amazing story between two people who were no more than friends but put together in a much closer situation, you couldn’t help but see the attraction but also the connection between these two. This book as well as the series is a definite must read and although Carina Adam is a new author on my radar, she is going to be one I will be watching as well as reading for some time.
★★★★ 1/2
Once I read Forever Red, I knew I needed Mike's story and was thrilled we were getting it. In Out of the Blue we get Mike and Molly's story, and find out so much more about the protective best friend, and the wild country singer.
After Lia and Nate's wedding, Mike took some time off, not able to see them together in wedded bliss all the time, but when Lia calls stating she needs Mike back on tour protecting Molly, he jumps at the chance to help his friends. Molly is the wild child, and getting herself in more trouble than before. She thinks the things she does is ok, but the press has a different idea and make her life hell. Mike is the only one she seems to listen to when he gets back on tour, and you can instantly see that this is going to be an interesting time for both of them.
Molly and Mike were great friends, but when forced to be with one another twenty four hours a day, they start to learn more things about one another, and feelings that weren't there before are strong. Mike tries hard to stay away and do his job, but there's something about Molly that he can't get enough of and when he crosses that professional boundary, its definitely worth it for him. Neither one of them knew what was going to happen with them, but they enjoyed every single minute they had together.
Learning more about Molly's back story in this book was awesome. We met both her and Mike in Forever Red, but didn't get to truly know them until this story. Molly has been through some really rough times in her life, and no one, except Nate, really know what she's been through. When Mike finds out, his reaction was nothing that Molly expected, and I loved him a little more for it. She's been through hell and back, but she is a much stronger woman than what you thought she was while getting to know her. Mike has had a rough go of it to, but being with Molly has shown him that he never really has been in love with someone. He's lost a lot in his life, and has also had a rough go of it, but he doesn't let it bring him down.
Both of these characters are quite stubborn, and at times I wanted to strangle them. They never really talked about where their relationship was going, and came to conclusions at times that were incorrect and caused more problems than not. I did enjoy seeing how protective Mike was of Molly, and how once everyone saw that Mike and Molly didn't, accepted them together. It only took their friends a few times seeing them together to see that they loved one another, but it took these two a LONG time to figure it out.
I really loved getting to see how Nate and Lia were doing in this book, as well as catching up with the rest of the Bama boys. This story was beautifully written and one that gripped me from the beginning of the book all the way to the amazing epilogue. If you loved Nate and Lia together, you will LOVE Molly and Mike, they are perfect for one another!
Earlier this year I was introduced to Carina Adams. And by introduced, I mean I agreed to join on for a blog tour by an author I’d never heard of. When I received my copy of Forever Red, I literally groaned. Then proceeded to complain to Sarah about how long the book was and my uncertainty about finishing it. The joke was entirely on me. I didn’t just read Forever Red, I devoured it. I told Sarah no less than 50 times that she NEEDS to read the book as my eyes gobbled up each page. Now I’m telling you, READ FOREVER RED!
After finishing, I wrote Carina, bugging her relentlessly about her characters, their choices, and if Mike would get his own book. I still remember the moment the message came through telling me that Mike would, in fact, get to tell us his story. I did a happy little butt dance right there in my car. It wasn’t pretty. Be glad you couldn’t see it…
On to the good stuff.
Out of the Blue is, you guessed it, Mike’s story. If you’ve read Forever Red, you know that Mike is Lia’s bestie. He’s also Nates. It’s one of those strange friend-angles – a friendship triangle. Somehow those three make it work. Not only do they work well together as friends but also in a more official sense.
When Mike agrees to sign on as Molly’s bodyguard (Nate’s opening act) because, of course, Lia asks him to, everything changes. He begins to have inappropriate thoughts, feel inappropriate things, and learns just exactly what true love is.
I wasn’t sure Carina could do it again. Sequels are scary, and let’s face it, usually not as good at the original. But Out of the Blue was literally impossible to put down. I wanted to know what would happen next. I wanted deeper into Mike’s brain. I wanted to know more about Molly. I just wanted. And Carina delivered. Mike was one of my favorite characters in Forever Red, and the thought of him ending up with a woman less than worthy of him… Well, that was a real concern. Molly is everything I could want for Mike and more. She’s sassy, strong, hard-headed, and loyal to a fault. In other words, she complements Mike perfectly.
The only complaint I have is that Out of the Blue ended. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Mike or Molly. I wasn’t prepared to leave Lia and Nate, or Noah, and the rest of the band mates. I wanted more story, more drama, more of Carina’s writing. Lucky for me, and you, I believe we ARE getting more. *cue more happy butt dancing*
The moral of the story? Buy it. The story that is. Buy the whole series if you haven’t started it. Devour it, just like I did. You will not be sorry!
5 star Review of Out Of The Blue (Bama Boys #2) by Carina Adams
Having read the previous book in this series, Forever Red, I was more than excited to see what Carina Adams had in store for Mike Carson. Please note that although a standalone, I would highly recommend you read Forever Red first as Out of the Blue continues on from where it left off.
I love that Ms. Adams paired Mike with Molly Ray. It was totally unexpected, but these two characters apart are great, but together, they are totally awesome. They really are perfect for each other and I am impressed with the way their lives were woven together.
What an emotional roller-coaster of a ride Carina Adams takes us on. Mike is such a caring and giving man, always looking out for others, never really worrying about himself. However, when Lia married Nate, you could almost feel Mike’s pain, leaving, was all he could do. He has always had a “thing” for Lia and seeing them together constantly becomes too much and he leaves the tour.
Now, Lia has come looking for her childhood friend, she needs his help. She wants him to come back on tour and head Molly’s security team. He likes Molly and believes he can do the job. He can get his life back, or so he hopes.
What Mike doesn’t realise is his life is about to change dramatically.
The pairing of Mike and Molly was totally unexpected to me but the chemistry between Mike and Molly sizzles. I really love these two together, and particularly like the strength and determination that Molly shows throughout the book. I loved that she was vulnerable and I really loved reading about her knight in shining armour Mike. These two belong together. Two halves of a whole.
But what happens when it becomes more than a job? Will Mike run when he realises he is falling for Molly or will Molly run? What happens when both Mike and Molly’s pasts come back to haunt them? What will happen when the tour ends? To find out you need to read this story.
This book, as with her previous book, was well written and thought out. The characters had flaws, were human and you can well believe that you could meet these two in “real life”. I was hooked from beginning to end.
This is shaping up to be one of my favourite series and certainly one of the best I have read this year. Cannot wait for more and highly recommend you pick up these books or at the least add to your TBR list. You won’t be disappointed.
Out Of The Blue (Bama Boys 2)
Carina Adams
3.5 stars
Out of the Blue was a difficult read for me. I haven’t read the first book in the series so maybe that’s why I wasn’t all in. I wished I had known more before reading and maybe it didn’t make too much of a difference but I felt unattached to the characters. In my opinion that isn’t the best.
Book 2 in the series focuses on Mike. There are other characters involved of course specifically Lia who is Mikes long lost love and best friend. That was weird to me in a sense that he was going to work for Lia while his heart still wished for her. On top of that she is married to Nate. Molly is also touring with the country stars but is considered a “kid” which I thought was odd as well.
You can see where I started off a little confused as not having read the first book. Lia asks Mike to be Molly’s security manager. The last one was fired when Molly took off and left her unattended. Molly is a tabloids dream. The “pops” are always making up stories about a love triangle between she and Nate and Lia which are completely false. Molly is quickly pegged as a bad girl and is given all kinds of hell. Molly allows people to walk all over her which I don’t like at all in a female character. She changed her entire image in order to make it in the country world. Again not a fan. Julie, Mike’s ex comes into the picture as well throughout the book and that twisted things up even more.
Mike is down on his luck trying to spend as much time with his son as possible and avoiding his ex Julie at all costs. When Lia comes and offers him the job of being on Molly’s security duty he takes it. He agrees to only come back for the tour and no more. He protected Lia once and now its Molly’s turn. There is plenty of drama in this book and again a lot I was kind of lost on. The books are standalones but in my reading mind I like to know where the characters have come from and why.
If you like the music scene and the drama along with heated situations and lots of people in each others business this is one for you. Click it up. Let me know what you think.
OMG Mike & Molly's story was sooooo good! I loved that they were friends who found comfort in each other. Loved that they could talk about anything like best friends would. They were funny but yet sweet too. They also melted my heart at times. This book wasn't without some excitement though. There were some secrets from Molly's past that reared their ugly head & boy did things blow up. I absolutely LOVED this book & can't wait to read more of the Bama Boys!
I really enjoyed the first book in this series 'Forever Red' and was excited to read this book!
This is Mikes story...and what an incredible book it is! I absolutely loved it!
You should read Forever Red prior to reading this book, however Mike does give you some back story part way in!
I loved the way he cared for his friends and family! He was a kind, caring, strong man as well as a protector! Lia asks him to come back to be singer Molly Rays bodyguard! He does, of course, having missed his friends as they have him.
I especially loved the way Molly and he started off, how their friendship progressed and the strong sense of family with Nate and Lia.
This book has so many elements that made it incredibly difficult to put down.
The way Molly struggled, how her family saw her was sad to see. Then when someone from her past comes on the scene, things get rather intense as well as scary for her! In the end though Mike and Molly seem to compliment each other. Mike has his own demons to deal with but with his friends by his side, do things get better for him?? You will have to read it for yourself to find out!
Loved it all, loved the ending!
Carina should be incredibly proud of this book, she has written something wonderful!
Must read! Add it to your TBR list!
4.5 Stars!
Two things come to mind when I think about this book... great book and intriguing storyline. This is a brand spanking new author for me and I am so glad I took a chance. While this is book two in a series, it can be read as a standalone though it is preferred by the author to read book one. Nonetheless, I did not read it and found no issues diving into this book and devouring it.
This book was complicated, emotional, intense, angsty, passionate and gave me a lot of feels along the way. This author gave me such a good book and by the time I was finished, I went to find book one because this author intrigued me that much and I got my one-click on. This book had the perfect combination of drama and steam to keep your heart racing and your finger flipping pages fast.
These two were phenomenally written. Mike was an amazing man who was easy to fall for and swoon over. I also really liked Molly and had a crush on her by the end. The strength and vulnerability she showed spoke to me. And together, they were perfect. As their story unfolds, you will be put through the ringer with Mike and Molly but by the end, it will be totally worth it.
I highly recommend this book.
Carina Adams did it again!!! I finished this book about a week ago and am still thinking about it. Amazing!!
I think anyone who read Forever Red wanted Mike’s story just as bad as I did. When I first read the blurb I wondered who his love interest could possibly be. And then Carina sent me the first few chapters to beta read and when I found out who it was all I could say was no freakin way! And by the end of the book I can sit here and tell you that Carina Adams is pure genius. I was completely shocked by who his interest was but my God was she the perfect choice. If you fell in love with Nate and Lia then just wait until you read Mike Carson and his girls story because they will knock your socks off. These two are just made for each other.
This book was everything i could have hoped for and more. It is quite possible that I love Mike more than Nate. There I said it. I cannot wait for everyone to read his story.
Full review to come on release day.
At the request of a friend, Mike Carson takes over security for country singer
Molly Ray, who proved too much for the guy who had the job before him. It turns out to be a match made in heaven for both of these big hearted people who have been through some rough times. This is the second book in the 'Bama Boys Series but works fine as a stand alone. The characters in this book are so well written that I felt connected to all of them. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm definitely going to reading more. This is a wonderful story and I loved how it flowed, it was hard to put down and I was sorry when it was over. There was certainly some angst but it was never overwhelming.
Wow what a fabulous 5 star read, couldn't put this one down. I lovedForever Red and loved Nate and Lia's story but The author really knocked it out of the park with Mike and Molly's story. The authors writing has really come along since ForeverRed and she will have a hard time topping this one with Noah's story up next. Can be read alone but so much better read as a series, a definite must read.... Full review at http://lustfulliterature.com/blog-tou...
Loved book one in this series, but this one might have topped it. Mike and Molly's story is a wonderful blend of two people who've been hurt in the past. When they get together and share, her secret and his heartache, it's amazing to see how they heal each other. They've got great chemistry which leads to some pretty hot scenes. We are lucky enough to catch glimpses of the other Bama Boys--enough to peak curiosity for the rest of the series. Well done Me. Adams!
I love this series! Mike is still carrying the torch for Lia, his best friend's wife. In order to avoid seeing Lia with her rock-star husband, Nate Kelly, on a daily basis, Mike quits as head of Nate's security. Now Nate's opening act, country-singer Molly, needs protection and Lia wants Mike to be Molly's bodyguard. Can Molly convince Mike that Lia is not the only girl that can rock his world?
Nicely Done!
I downloaded and started this book immediately after finishing Forever Red (book 1 in the 'Bama Boys series). It is every bit as good as the first one but told in a completely different type of format, which is great if reading back to back. Still dual POV though! Again, these characters are so likeable that it is hard to put the book down! I can't wait for book 3 to come out!
Out of the Blue is the second book in the Bama Boys series by Carina Adams. It focused on Mike Carson and Molly Ray. Molly was a rising country star and Mike was hired as her security guard while on tour.
We were introduced to both Mike and Molly in book one. I loved hearing Mike's perspective in a nutshell to how we got to the present. The story was the same as demonstrated in book one, Forever Red; however, the perspective was much different with a few holes filled in as well. Adams then built the storyline from the present while drawing from the character's past secrets and experiences.
I liked the premise of the storyline. It kept me interested and had several sub plots within the main storyline. I wasn't fond of the injustice done to Molly by the paparazzi; however, it was probably a realistic perspective depicting a gap between perception and reality as celebrities are portrayed to the world.
The story and characters were both well developed providing an entertaining saga. However, there were more editing errors than I prefer. On a positive note, Adams broached pregnancy from various angles covering miscarriage, teen pregnancy and adoption through multiple characters, which brought additional depth and dimension to the storyline.
All in all, it was enjoyable and a nice addition to the series. Adams continued to set the stage for the next release, Black, which highlight's Noah's story. Noah was a fun and endearing character so I can't wait to see where Adam's takes us.
I will admit that I am a big fan of Carina Adams and every time I see she has a new book coming out I get really excited! But I have to say that I think Out of the Blue is the one that I had been waiting for the most from her. After reading and loving Forever Red, I couldn't wait to get Mike's story! Though Out of the Blue is technically a standalone, it is really a continuation of Forever Red with more of the focus being on Mike and Molly. I would suggest reading these in order though I guess you wouldn't necessarily have to.
When an accident ended Mike's career in the Navy, he came home to a life that had fallen apart. Needing something to do, he jumped at the chance to work security for one of his best friends who was also a famous country singer. As much as he enjoyed being around his best friend Nate though, it was hard to watch his other best friend Lia with Nate as they got back together. Though he had never made a move on Lia, he always thought that they would wind up together. Needing to get away from them, Mike left the tour and headed home. But when Lia shows up months later looking for his help running security for her new client Molly, Mike finds himself unable to say no. Mike and Molly had been friends before, and they picked up like nothing had changed once around one another again. But the more time they spend together, the more things begin to change and soon they are seeing each other in a completely new light.
I had really liked both Molly and Mike in Forever Red, so I was excited to get to know each of them better. I felt so bad for Mike with how things went for him and Lia. Though I love Lia and Nate together, I saw the friendship and connection she had with Mike. He is such a good guy, and their friendship and history went back so far. But I really did think that Lia and Nate were meant to be, so it was really good to see Mike moving forward. He was great at what he did, and he genuinely cared about Molly and her safety. It was great to see them grow closer than ever as they spent more time together. Molly was so easy to like, and I thought that she was good for Mike. She was able to help Mike loosen up a bit and start to live his life for himself as well as others. I can't even imagine living life in the spotlight and having to deal with everything that Molly did, and though she did make a few poor choices I completely understood where she was coming from. She wanted to make her own choices and have some fun without the world having an opinion on everything. Where she was good for Mike with helping him be a bit more selfish when he needed it, he was good at grounding her and helping her to let go of all that she had to deal with because of her life as a singer. These two were so great together and I really felt their connection to one another. I also loved the heat and chemistry between them, and I couldn't get enough of them together.
I really loved this book and just like with Forever Red, I didn't want it to end! I feel so invested in each of these characters and I just love this series! They are all so fun to read about, and I found my heart melting at how cute Mike and Mols were together. Carina is a great writer, and I was so glad to see how she handled so many issues here in this book. I thought that she did a great job of tackling some issues and giving each the respect that they deserved. There were a lot of things going on here, and I felt like the pacing and flow was perfect. Carina Adams did a great job with this story, and I couldn't put this book down. If you are looking for a book that is funny, sweet and filled with smoking hot chemistry, this is definitely one worth checking out. I have loved everything I have read from Carina Adams and I know that I will be anxiously awaiting whatever she writes next.
“When you want something so badly enough, you find a way.”
When I read Forever Red I fell in love with Nate Kelly and thought, “boy it’s going to be hard for her to top him.” We get Mike Carson in Forever Red. They were a threesome growing up, Lia, Nate and Mike. But it was Lia and Mike that go back even farther, before Nate even came into the picture. He was as sweet as ever. You couldn’t help but fall in love with him either. He was always there for Lia when Nate couldn’t be. He always looked out for her. There was a lot of tough situations in this book and Carina did a great job making you feel every single one of the emotions as if you were right there with the characters. This is one book you won’t want to put down once you start.
Reading the epilogue of Forever Red just breaks your heart for Mike. It’s like you just want to wrap your hands around him and give him one big hug. You can’t help but feel bad for him. Then you read the blurb for it and you can’t help but wonder who he will fall for. I racked my brain trying to figure it out.
Mike leaves the tour to get away from Lia and Nate. He thought he could be around the happy couple and not get his feelings get caught up but he was wrong. Mike has been in love with Lia for as long as he can remember, but yet his best friend Nate got to him first making her untouchable. He thought he can be around them being all happy and lovey dovey. He thought he can just be there and do his job. But boy was he wrong. He can’t be around her and not want her. His feelings for her are still strongly there. He needs out.
He hasn’t had any luck with women and his life is spinning out of control.
“I felt like I could tell her anything, even the truths I tried to hide from myself, and Molly wouldn’t judge.”
But when things go down while on tour and Lia is assigned a new task, she goes seeking out Mike. Mike is hauled back on tour to guard Molly Ray, who needs him now more than ever. Molly Ray has been running from a past she doesn’t want to relive. It’s a story not very many people know. But a story that will come to surface and haunt her. It is now Mike’s job to protect her. Mike and Molly spend every single second together. Mike pushes Molly and she pushes him right back. It’s quite comical actually. You can’t help but laugh at their interactions. I think Molly purposely pushes Mike just to see what he will do. They’ve been friends for years, but they’ve never gotten this as close as they have on this tour. They begin to tell one another things and they’ve fully opened up to one another. Mike would have never expected himself to fall for Molly, she is younger than him after all. But as they spend more time together, a part of him is slowly falling for him. I don’t think anyone would have predicted it. But as Molly’s ugly past rears back, so does Mike’s.
“It really was amusing how you could just be living your life, and then one day, completely out of the blue, everything changes.”
Can they both find their way through the ugliness of their pasts? Or will it be the end of them? Will this just be another failed attempt for Mike? Was this just a spark to pass the time they had together? Or was there something real and true between them?
Mike has this tough exterior, but has such a kind heart. He is always putting everyone before himself. I’m glad he finally got his story and he finally has someone to stand by his side. Molly…how can you not like her? She’s feisty, full of spunk and will speak her mind. She had no one but Lia and Nate and when Mike came along he made it his full intent to be her number one. I loved him even more for that. They meshed really well together. And Lia throughout this whole thing was amazing. She always stood by their sides, just like the friend she always was.
Out of the Blue is book 2 in the Bama book series. We have a terrific story told in dual POV which is great because we get the main characters POV. This is Mike and Molly's story. I am so glad that Mike’s story was next up because in the last book, his story was calling out to be told.
In this book, Mike is back working for Lia, who is married to his best friend Nate. It is bittersweet for him because she is his best friend and also someone whom is his long-lost love. He has never told her how he felt and has kept his feelings under lock and key. Lia is now Molly’s manager after she fired Eli as her manager and she has asked Mike to be Molly’s security manager after am “incident”. He agreed reluctantly. He didn’t want to be back in Lia’s world but for her, he will.
Molly is a sweet gal, alittle naïve and is someone who happens to be like a Taylor Swift when it comes to the tabloids. They find something to say or make up when it comes to her and last year they made up a threesome triangle between her , Nate and Lia when that was sooooo not true. She and Nate were friends and now they are all friends. Molly is considered the “bad girl” of country music when she is really a good girl who tries to please everyone but can do nothing right for anyone. She feels like what she loved doing is no longer fun and she does not love it anymore. Then there is Mike- she doesn’t know what to make of him and there are her feelings for him.
Mike takes this job , hoping to see more of his son from his previous marriage to his ex Julia. Julia comes around and she throws a spanner into the works with his relationship with Molly. I have to say that I didn’t like Julia very much. She was someone who wasn’t a very nice person. There was something about her that , as a reader, you didn’t feel much sympathy for. In this story which is told in a matter of months we get a backstory of what ties Julia and Mike together and how they ended up having a child together. And how Mike and Molly are together at this point since they have known each other for a while. There are many twists and turns in this story which makes this a truly wonderful story. Ms Adams wove an emotional story with a great flow. I loved the MC and the supporting cast of characters –Lia, Nate, Noah, Roxanne, Julia—and oh I cannot wait to read Noah’s story next. You will not go wrong in reading this lovely emotional read. Mike and Molly will grip your heartstrings and wont let go, nor will you want them to.
My rating: 4.9 stars *****
