This is an okay cookbook but won't work for my needs. I am a mother of 5 kids and cook for 7 people. In addition, we cook gluten free and generally vegetarian (for health, moral and financial reasons). That right there knocked off just about every recipe in the book. I tend to cook from scratch in order to keep it frugal and this requires a lot of purchased ingredients like pre-made tortellini, seasoned breadcrumbs, etc. These make meals quick but significantly increase your grocery bill.
These are simple meals and if you're brand new to cooking or just not very good at it and you want basic, American style meals, this will be a good fit for you. Examples of the dishes are sloppy joes, philly cheesesteaks, spaghetti, shrimp and grits, broccoli shrimp stir fry, corn soup, roasted asparagus and skillet lasagna. They rely heavily on grains and meat, which is pretty standard for American dinners too (though not necessarily the healthiest or best for staying slim).
If you're newly married, newly on your own or just never learned how to cook and you like the kind of food you'd get at home in the 1980's or 1990's, this will be a very good fit. Note that there are NO PHOTOS.
Nothing I love more than quick, tasty recipes. These 30 min recipes are varied and achievable for even the most amateur of chefs. I would have liked pictures, though.
I really enjoyed reading this engaging cookbook especially the introduction in which the author reassures readers if recipes take longer then it is ok! I found that really comforting when cooking it took me a bit longer!! I liked the range of recipes, the hyperlinks to each recipe, how easy they are to read and follow step by step!
Quick and Easy Recipes: 30 MINUTE MEALS: Quick Recipes You Will Love (Quick and Easy Cooking) by Hannie P. Scott This book starts out with table of contents where recipes are broken up into sides, pasta, soups and other main dishes and desserts. Free ebook offer, abbreviations explained along with conversions. Tips are included. Each recipe starts with a title and servings. List of ingredients are included and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs. canned items. Directions are given but there are NO pictures and NO nutritional information. They do list a serving tip at the end of some recipes. There are a lot of flavorful choices I will be making from this book. Love the combinations of spices and herbs with everyday foods we already eat. Spicy shrimp pasta would be my favorite and I'm sure a few others. Other works by the author are listed at the end .

Cooking abbreviations and conversions listed in beginning…. NICE!
Some yummy recipes in here that really are quick and good. I have customized several recipes over the years that I use to put in the oven to bake and now make them in the skillet. These recipes have ended up tasting just as good, if not better, and take less time. I ended up only using the recipes that used a skillet, but the other ones gave me good ideas for other skillet dinners. The ingredients make it seem complicated but it really is not. The Creamy Chicken Spaghetti is really good! I used a flavored dip instead to give it a different taste. I never thought to put cream of mushroom soup… a great idea!
Overview: It's been a long day, and your family is clamoring for dinner. You don't have much time, so what do you do? Ms. Abedikichi seems to have found your answer.
Dislikes: Be forewarned. If you are not a fan of soy sauce, there are many of the recipes here that will not fit for you.
And let's face it: cheesy garlic bread will never be healthy, so why drop the butter?
Likes: Some of the pasta dishes sounded interesting.
Conclusion: This is a good cookbook. It's best for those who are just beginning to cook, or those who have a limited amount of time for making dinner. Give this one a try, you might start saving money on take out.
This is one of the few cookbooks I've come across that offers recipes with ingredients I can easily find. Many cookbooks rely on ingredients that are only available in the author's home country, which can be frustrating. But with this one, I can confidently try out each dish, knowing I'll be able to gather everything I need. The kitchen is going to become my favorite place again as I experiment with these recipes. An added bonus is that they offer healthy alternatives, so I can enjoy delicious meals without compromising on nutrition!
This book had many really quick, easy, tasty meals. I cook for myself and enjoy these "real" meals. Sure beats just canned, frozen, and take -out! Plus, the ingredients are readily available. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to enjoy making and eating good made at home!
I tried a few of the quick and easy, they took less than thirty and one that took an hour but I think the time frame isn't really important if you want your food tasting good. This cookbook was dimple, easy to follow and has a variety of dishes to choose from. I like it. If it was in book form, I'd have markers sticking out everywhere for new recipes to try.
This would be more like a 4.5 and even maybe a 4.9. and the only reason that I give it that is because there's not a lot of recipes here that I would use. However there's a lot of extremely good recipes. I know that's kind of a contradiction. But it's kind of hard to explain this book. Because I love this book but also find some of the recipes for my family's taste not as useful.
The recipes are very easy to follow. The ingredients are clearly listed and directions are direct and understandable. I took one star off because there are no pictures. I would have loved to see the final product because even if you follow everything correctly, it may turn out looking different. I am also a visual learner lol
These are simple, fast recipes that use common ingredients. They are perfect for weeknight dinners to suit a variety of tastes. Nothing is too exotic or too spicy, but the recipes aren’t completely bland either. The recipes are clear and easy to follow. I wish it had a few photos.
This is one the BEST recipe collection I've found. My kids go crazy when they find out I'm making the Sheet Pan S'mores...the whole family loves the Mexican Skillet Casserole and the Creamy Chicken Spaghetti... I definitely recommend!!!
Easy and delicious sounding recipes! Would be perfect for quick and tasty meals for small families, couples, or even individuals. Leftovers would be wonderful, too! I can’t wait to try several of the shrimp recipes.
Recipes are quick and fast , and most importantly they taste good. I enjoy serving my family and friends these recipes. They think that have hours in the kitchen. But with this book I didn't. When short on time grab this book of great recipes.
I love reading cookbooks. What's even better is when there are several recipes that go into my to be tried file. This cookbook had plenty of those and I can't wait to try them out.
This was a very simple book...no pictures, one page recipes. The recipes look interesting and simple and I have most of the ingredients in my kitchen. I'm kinda excited to try some of these.
I thought this would have different recipes. While it includes easy versions of a lot of favorites, it would have been nice to have ideas out of the ordinary. All in all, it's a book that has recipes I'll add to my weekly rotation.
Some really good recipes I'd like to try, some could use a little more updating to make it better or even quicker depending on the ingredient. Great regardless.
