WARNING SPOILERS! Okay, it was actually well written and funny in parts, however....
****So Sorry in Advanced for the Spoilers**** I wouldn't normally go on about a book like this but, Geez! I had to! I'll try keep it to a minimum & do my best just to outline the story!
*Lena meets Wyatt at his going away party, a big blow out party for a high schooler whom I may add is on his way to boot camp with dreams of becoming a Seal.
Wyatt for the most part is a tender hearted-good kid who never grew up outside the military. He got his GED, dropped out of school and enlisted... at the young age of 17! (Bonus: He is far from the stereo-typed dumb jock, passed all his tests with flying colors, smart kid!
Wyatt's dad however, has basically verbally abused him his whole life. Kinda makes you wonder why his mom allowed it (?) or maybe the better question is, Why didn't she ever stop it?
Sam Washington Spred is a jerk & a few other select names I'll leave out...
Lena spends the rest her high school days thinking about that one night with Wyatt Spred, while promising herself to forget him and move on in college.
The writer made Lena out to be a S/^t (to me anyways) Who ends up meeting & dating Wyatt's dad... Which she didn't know. (why, she even considered dating him I will never know, he was just some old man, who for better words "could" have been her dad....Yuck! 30 years her Sr. I think?) ***Then the slime ball meets her mother, starts an affair with her & ends up being her (Lena's) step-dad! Really, her mother steals her daughters boyfriend? What kind of mother does that? Only on Jerry Springer! I'm telling you.... Just No! YUCK!
Best Part! She meets back up with Wyatt 4 years later (at their parents wedding reception) and having sex in a bathroom within the first 2 minutes of saying Hey! Yep.... S/^t 100% "They find out after the fact that they are indeed step-siblings, this make Wyatt physically sick & he runs away. He does this again (without any physical contact) at the actual wedding.... Honestly believing it's incest! (all through the book, it talks about incest! Ummm, don't you think they, anyone would for that matter knows what incest is! There is no blood shared between them! Oh for Petes sake... A doctor would not correct him on his thinking! WTF! again... UGH!) "pulling hair out" Because of his/everyone's thinking.... Wyatt a big bad, tough as nails, Navy SEAL, crying & running away, hiding from Lena! Right...
Wyatt, you gotta love him though, loses a lot in his first 4 years in the Navy (while on tour) comes home and tries to live with the ghosts that haunt his dreams. Reconnecting with Lena only helped in his downward spiral. I believe Wyatt loved Lena but has a hard time dealing with it, hides from his feelings by re-enlisting.
All the while Lena (who takes no shit from any man, but moved to Cali to closer to Wyatt at his request?) is sleeping with whomever that comes along. Once Wyatt returns home to her after his tour, realizing it's her he wants... Hmm? Only to find a naked man with her, once again running off & crying.
It's not your normal step-brother romance story, or your hot Navy Seal heat up the sheets book you may normally read. It's different, it's not a bad book & I can't complain about the writing... It's the whole thought process as to where the author was going with the story.
It was like she watched a marathon of Jerry Springer and came up with the basic outline of the story! No Joke
I guess what got me was Lena having sex with every man she came in contact with! Unprotected sex, I might add
I do not know a man out there that would take what she did, sleeping with his dad "her ex-boyfriend", then finding her with a F^<€ buddy she just met (a week prior) in her living room, naked AND... the first thing Wyatt thinks is how big his manhood is & mentally compares the two of them? Ugh, Nope...
But I get " okay, somewhat get" why he would run away (crying ) that seeing her with another man, (it's her that got him through his last mission) but still... He is in uniform, running away? Doubtful at best! Come On!
It comical! Enjoy... Psst: I didn't give away too many spoilers!
This story was good, but had a lot of spelling errors. The story had a lot of drama, growth and change. Overview. Wyatt was getting read to leave for the NAVY. He had a hard life and decided to get his GED at 16 and move on. His dad was never proud of him, but his mom loved him unconditionally. The weekend before leaving he throws a huge part and meets the girl of his dreams Lena. Lena was shocked by his treatment but stayed the night with him. Both move on with life but are reintroduced at a wedding. Next thing they know is that they were going to be step siblings. Both freak since both know that their feels are strong. It was too much for Wyatt, so he goes back to the service, but Lena decides to move out to San Diego to be near him. But ups and downs don't allow them together. But several events happen and they fight being together and dealing with their parents.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked the storyline, but I would have liked to see a more developed story with better transitions. Several times, I thought that I had skipped pages due to these problems. That was the negatives. There are quite a few positives. The bathroom scene at Wyatt's and Lena's wedding was very hot!! The book also gave a good view of seveal important social issues of today, including alcoholism, cancer, death of parents, PTSD, and Alzheimers, but these were very smoothly incorporated into the storyline. I would definitely read more from this author.
What do you do when the one guy you always dreamed about leaves town and goes in the military . The next time you see him things pick right back up where they were left off until you find out you are going to be step siblings. For Wyatt he didn't know how to handle this information but Lena couldn't forget how she really felt about him . Both Wyatt and Lena didn't get along with there parent so at this point didn't know what to do . But Wyatt was also struggling with ptsd and had a lot to work out in his head. Watching Kendra and his baby die was still haunting him . I totally enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author
All I can say is wow! I barely got through this book. First of all the love scenes were terrible. Next the author kept mixing up the names of the characters. Several times she would call Sam Wyatt. This book was more of a story that Lena and Wyatt looked back on instead of what was currently going on. Some words seemed made up and didn't have a definition for and other words were some I didn't know or understand. My apologies to the author, but I wasn't impressed with this book. Of course though, this is my opinion.
If you don't have Kindle Unlimited don't waste your money!!
If you don't have Kindle Unlimited don't waste your money!! I have never left a negative review and some books I really don't like but this one was weird and just plain terrible. I couldn't find one thing I enjoyed about it, I hope someone out there does like it though it just really wasn't my thing!
(Most negative review I've ever given) Meh. The writing. The story. I just couldn't get into it. It was not enjoyable, at all. I just kept reading on just in case there was a plot twist or anything interesting. I lost my patience with the characters. The most lack luster read ever. No chemistry. No spark. Zip zero. Nada. Skip this book... Save your money.
I really liked the overall story. PTSD is serious and even with all of the forces trying to push them apart, Lena stood by Wyatt's side and they made it through their struggles. There was a paragraph where the author referred to Wyatt when she should have been referring to Wyatt but other than that it was a pretty good read.
I'm sorry this book was to all over the place. It just couldn't keep my interest and it took like 2 days to finish when I normally read a book in under 8 hours. I will try this author again but I feel like this book had no real passion and it felt forced.
This book appears to have been written by a teenager example "Good Goop". I felt like the story line was everywhere. I repeatedly had to go back a page and re-read it because I felt like I missed something, but I didn't. This boy is pretty bad.
Had I hard time staying in this book. seems it went on and on. had more mourning than happiness although the ending did turn well. I never felt that initial pull on that every book should have
I really couldnt get on with the writing of this book, and there wasnt any real buiding of the relationship which was disappointing. This book had so much potential but i was left wanting more.
