Blake Karrington once again takes you on a Southern literary ride with his latest criminal romance.
In Deeper Than Love , find out what happens when Ciara and Sabrina fail to realize that the answers they seek to close the biggest case of their careers are closer than it appears.
Agent Ciara Valentine has been transferred to the Atlanta Bureau of the FBI. She never imagined the turn of events she would encounter in her personal and professional life as she launches her new career path. Ciara finds that her "mystery" partner is none other than her FBI Academy classmate Sabrina. Together they begin an investigation into the ongoing robberies that have yielded millions of dollars from banks all over Atlanta.
With nothing but dead ends and weeks of unanswered questions in their case, Ciara and Sabrina decide to relieve some stress by having a night out on the town. Sabrina runs into her old flame, Tremaine, and sparks start to fly, reigniting flames between them. However, the same can't be said for Ciara and Dominique, the most sought-after bachelor in Atlanta. Sabrina and Tremaine try to make a love connection between their two friends but quickly nix the idea after seeing that neither one wants to connect.
When Ciara and Dominique meet again under less than ordinary circumstances, they promptly discover that they have a lot more in common than they thought and begin exploring the connection they once denied.
Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
Really good book. The only reason that I gave it 4, instead of 5 stars was because it was somewhat predictable and I really wanted to find out more about the ending. Did Ciara survive? Did Dominique and his friends get away? Did Mr. Douglas succeed in setting them up? I really liked Dominique and Ciara together.
Great read, started slow but eventually picked up! That ending OMG I was still looking like words would appear! I just knew they would get their happy ending. Dom was sweet and loving but he was also selfish and greedy.
This book had me on edge from the beginning until the end. I felt like I was watching a movie. Excellent character development and overall excellent story! Omg the end whoa..
This book was really good! FBI agent Ciara is in love with Dominique; who is one of the bank robbers she is trying to solve a case on. Read the book to find out how she realizes it's him. Plus, the way the book ends, I'm hoping Blake Karrington has a 2nd one!
Oh no. It was getting so good then it ended. I wasn't feeling it in the beginning but it finally started heating up in the middle of the story. I didn't like Ciara or Dominique in the beginning at all. I thought he was conceited and she was stuffy. But it seemed like once they got together they started loosening up. Sabrina was the most unbelievable character of all. You would never expect her to be an agent. I don't know why Olivia's husband was so sneaky and didn't just get rid of her. He was taking his frustrations out on the wrong person. She was the one cheating, not Dominique. I can't wait to see what happens next. It says it's a standalone novel and I was thinking that meant it wouldn't turn into a series but apparently that's not what that means. There will definitely be more but I hope it won't be too long. I'm all into this story now. Come on with it.
This was one of those books that I hated to see end. It was full of drama and mystery. There was also suspense thrown into the mix. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next.
This was a really good book. I do have to admit that when I first started reading it I was a little bit bored and wanted to not even continue reading. But I am so happy I did and now I can't wait to read the next installment.
I enjoyed this book it was something different from the thug books. It started off but when it pick up it was Off and running. As always Blake Karrington have done it AGAIN. There have to be a part 2 because there are too many unanswered questions.
This was a good read. I hope there is another book to follow. I really would like to see those that crossed Dominique get theirs. I really loved the Dubai scene.
Wow I loved this story Dominique was the man, and his skills was on point. Just when Cee let her guard down this fairytale took a wrong turn. ALWAYS on point Blake Karrington
This was a pretty good book. I liked the characters and the storyline. I was not happy with the ending. I guess I wanted to know what happened later..like a month or year later. But the book is worth reading.
