He arranges a fake engagement to win against his business rival. Bradley Mead has one overriding goal: to succeed over his fiercest business enemy. To boost his chances of winning a lucrative contract over his competitor, he must first assure his potential client that he is not after the client's new wife-a woman he used to date and who still loves to flirt with him. To aid his cause, he asks Erin Baker, his sister's beautiful best friend, to be his pretend fiancee. But Erin soon becomes a pawn for his archrival's underhanded tactics... and he finds himself torn between winning in business and following the dictates of his heart. She doesn't expect to fall for her fake fiance. Erin Baker believes she is now immune from Bradley Mead's charms. After all, her secret crush for him when she was still a teenager is long gone. When an ex-boyfriend becomes a new work colleague and starts annoying her, accepting Brad's proposition to be his fake fiancee for a short time seems like a great idea... until she discovers that she's been lying to herself about her feelings for him. Can she ever win the heart of the man who has never loved her back, and shows no intention of ever doing so? ***** The Unintended Fiance can be read as a stand-alone or as Book 4 of the Captured by Love series. Miranda P. Charles writes swoonworthy, stirring, and steamy contemporary romance novels with oh-so-sweet heroes and strong heroines.
She prefers to spend her time in front of her laptop, putting into words the love stories that play in her head. Don't get her started with reading a great book, though, because she tends to not put it down until she gets to the last page even if she loses sleep.
She does have a life outside of books. Mostly, that consists of bonding with family and friends or going on romantic trips with her awesome husband.
She lives in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia.
It was okay, it's one of those books where you know what's going to happen, but you don't really mind...it had a nice little story, lots of romance. I actually didn't guess who was sabotaging (caught me off guard).
My thing that annoys me is... WHY is it always the girl who falls for the boy and he's like NOPE, I want a guy to fall for the girl and she be like NOPE!
" The Unintended Fiancé", is the fourth book in The Captured by Love Series by Miranda Charles and once again I am fully captured by another fantastic read from Ms. Charles ! Though part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone, but do not miss ou on the rest of the wonderfull books in the series!
The whole series has been revolving around a betting game amongst a large group of freind in which they place bets in which bachelor will fall victim to love and marriage next , the winners prize money going to their charity of choice, so far three very unexpected bachelor's have fallen! With this years bets being placed Erin Baker knows well enough motto place her bet on her best friends brother Brad Mead she learned years ago he will never settle down! Erin finally gave up on that hope a while ago, her hope that he would finally see her as someone he could love, she had a huge crush on him when she was a teenager! However , Erin is about to put her heart and mind in danger to spite herself , Brad needs a place to stay for a few months while his new home is finished and since her roommate , who just happens to be Brad's sister is moving out. And in with her fiancé ; Brad will be moving in!
Brad Mead runs a successful interior design business until. Someone tries to sabatoge it by insinuating to a prospective customer that Brad. Is chasing after his wife, now Brad may be a ladies man but not at the risk of his business and not married women. Brad realizes that he may just be living with his solution, Erin could be his fake fiancé ! Dangerous territory because a Brad being, thoughtful, romantic and sweet is like a flame thrower to a carefully frosted over heart. This arrangement actually worked well for Erin since her ex has showed up at her job, a pretend fiancé will work to keep rumors down. These two venture into real relationship zone and at the same time the person trying to sabotage Brad's business is ramping up against him and dragging Erin into it, pushing Brad into protection mode , when you love someone sometimes you have to give them up,to protect them. Well your mind may tell you that but after a while the heart wants what it wants. And these two turn out to want each other and both are willing to sacrifice for the other! Wonderful romance, hot sexy scenes and just enough intrigue to create a compelling storyline! Once again I can not shout my praise of Miranda's stories loud enough. atc copy has been graciously supplied by author for an honest review.
This was even more fun then the others. I love how these characters grow. I love that you can read these as stand alone and not as a series but still makes sense as a series. The characters and plot were amazing and I loved reading it. I am so glad I got to review it
Two long-term friends share a flat, and circumstances in their respective jobs lead them to fake a relationship. He, to save his reputation of being a womanizer terrified of engagements, and her, to convince her ex-boyfriend that she's over him. Obviously, they fall in love, but they're facing complications in both their jobs, and their reputations are suffering as a consequence of intrigues aimed to destroy Brad's career, dragging Erin in the process. They have to decide if they go on with the fake-but-not-so-fake relationship or they separate their paths until everything is finally resolved, and Miranda P. Charles doesn't spare a single drop of angst in the meantime. How could I resist it?
I liked the fact that this is not just a romance, but there is also some intrigue, and, even if the culprit is pretty obvious from the start, it doesn't make it any less enjoyable.
It's the first book I've read of this series and seeing that the rest of the books are based on characters that appear in this one, I'll read the rest too. A fun read and a nice romance for a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Ms Charles quality of writing was very good. Told a wonderful story that definitely had a surprise twist to mystery in this romance. No cliffhanger and you get a happy ending.
The game continues about which bachelor is going to fall next. Brad, of course, denies that it could be him because he's a confirmed bachelor, and everyone knows that, including Erin. But when he has a work problem that would be helped if he was in a committed relationship, he asks Erin to post as his live-in girlfriend. They become closer quickly, and Erin's crush from years ago is rekindled. But rumors start surrounding Brad and his bad business practices. When they start affecting Erin and her job, Brad decides to cut things off with her (for her own good). The rumors continue, and I was interested to see who the culprit would turn out to be. Actually, I was surprised, although maybe I shouldn't have been. I had been led, exactly as the author probably wanted, to someone else. As you might expect, there is a HEA, and the mystery is solved, everything wrapping up within the last few pages. A nice book, with perhaps a bit too much of the "I love him, but I can't--he loves me, but he can't" angst. There was some revisiting with characters from previous books, and I continue to enjoy this series.
My first read by this author, yes I know I went out of order! In any case it was an enjoyable read with cute and quirky characters, a bunch of mysterious sabotaging and loads of fake yet not fake relationship juicy bits.
A fast paced, light hearted read that's really easy to like. Of course since I went out of order, there were a bunch of characters from other books and series that I didn't know but I'll get to them in time!
Overall it was a nice read, Erin, despite being a giggler...rolling my eyes...was a good female lead. I thought she was the clingy type after Brad breaks off the fake engagment but surprisingly enough, she wasn't. Yes she was hurt because she really was in love with him, but she did a great job of maintaining that happy facade and didn't act like a jackass in the process. Good, smart woman..
Number four in the series and a great read. Erin and Brad are meant to be together but there is intrigue and angst and nasty people and stupid people all causing problems. A HEA of course, but the storyline was more than just a simple romance. Great read.
The Unintended Fiance: Captured by Love Book 4 is by Miranda P. Charles. This book is really good and keeps you interested as well as entertained. I do think the graphic sex scenes could have been eliminated or cut down as they would tend to make some readers stop reading this series. Other readers do enjoy reading them so it is a choice one has to consider when reading this series. The stories are great. Erin Baker has offered Lexie Mead’s older brother, Brad, a room in her condo until his house is ready. She needed another flatmate when Lexie moved out. Lexie is concerned since Erin had a crush on Brad when she was nineteen. Erin reassured her that knowing Brad never intended to settle down with one woman had ended her crush as she was looking for a forever future. She thought she had found it; but Kevin had returned from a vacation with a wife and then he broke up with Erin. Now she had more worries as Kevin had been hired by her company and she would have to work with him. However, having Brad, one of the best-looking guys she knew, would at least make coming home something to look forward to. After all, they were best friends. Brad Mead has a major problem. One of the girls he had dated had flirted with him at a business gathering and he flirted back only to find that Valerie had married the man he wanted to do business with. James Coyte took offense at it, along with a rumor that Brad was still interested in Valerie, was making his chances of winning a contract looking pretty slim. When he learned that Paula, Kevin’s wife, was making problems for Erin and Kevin was flirting with Erin, he offered to pretend to be Erin’s boyfriend. With Erin as his girlfriend, he could convince James he was not interested in Valerie. After all, they would be living in the same condo. What looks to be a simple solution to both their problems turns out to be something else? When rumors begin that threaten Erin’s job and Brad’s business, things get even more confusing? Who is behind the rumors and why? Who were they intended to hurt, Erin or Brad?
I've really loved this series, having read the first 4 books back to back, but I'm going to take a break now!
Still love the fact that this series is based in Sydney. Les Mis in the Capitol Theatre got a mention!
Brad - Lexie's older brother, boss of his own design company Erin - Lexie's former housemate and bestie, always found Rick attractive, but settled for friendship only because he doesn't have romantic feelings towards her.
They mutually agree to a fake relationship to avoid the perception they are still interested in past partners. Erin admits that she finds Rick attractive, but Rick has been burnt by friends wanting benefits in the past and doesn't want to lose Erin if they go down that path, because she is such a good friend to hang out with.
So when they eventually do become friends with benefits and he discovers that it hasn't ruined their friendship, he is happy to plod along in their fake relationship until the agreed upon time to call the relationship off.
I wouldn't read these books if I knew a happy ending wasn't waiting for me at the end. As these stories are always about the guy renouncing their bachelor life and acknowledging that they were indeed captured by love, I was waiting for Brad to FINALLY acknowledge his true feelings for Erin.
I figured out the mystery surrounding the smear campaigns against Brad and Erin, all very good devices for progressing the story.
This was a sweet yet steamy story of life long friends “faking” a relationship. Brad is Erin’s best friends brother and she always had a crush on him but Brad never acknowledged Erin.
Now that they’re older and have important jobs, it’s important to have a significant other to show the business world you’re trustworthy. Brad needs a girlfriend while Erin needs a boyfriend to keep her ex away from her. They agree to be “fake” boyfriend/girlfriend which quickly evolves to fake fiancé.
From that point a rollercoaster of emotions and passionate sex takes them both by surprise. The story evolves into a mystery of someone out to sabotage both their jobs. They have to decide to risk the livelihood of the other and break up or follow their hearts desire.
The Unintended Fiance is an entertaining contemporary romance by Miranda P. Charles. Ms. Charles has penned a book that is fun to read and loaded with lovable characters. Erin offers to let her best friend's brother bunk in her spare room while his new house is built. Brad needs a fake girlfriend for a contract he's going after and Erin needs a fake boyfriend so her ex will leave her alone. Brad and Erin's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and suspense. I enjoyed reading The Unintended Fiance and look forward to reading more from Miranda P. Charles in the future. The Unintended Fiance is book 4 of the Captured by Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
This was my second time reading a book by this author in this series and I would recommended this to anyone who wants a short and sweet romance to read. The dual writing style by Miranda was good and it allowed you to understand both characters better. I loved Erin's character because she was not afraid to demand what she wanted as well as she was willing to sacrifice for the man she loved. Brad's character was enjoyable, but I wish I saw a more possessive side of him. The chemistry between Brad and Erin was good, but I wished we saw more of it. The story was a bit cliche and predictable, but it is a good romance to read in your spare time.
This the second book I have read by this author in the CBL series. The recurring theme is that all the leading ladies are spineless, man-hungry doormats. I am disappointed and disgusted by the way the females pressure the guys into relationships. Maybe I’m old-fashioned but isn’t the guy supposed to chase the girl instead of the reverse? And if a man says he doesn’t want you, then move on. Even if the so-called HEA occurs, it’s bound to bite you in the butt further down the line. The man will never really respect you if you don’t respect yourself.
Hopefully this is the last book I’ll read by this author.
My first from this author and I look forward to many more!
Nothing out of the ordinary with this one, 'faking it' is one of my fave tropes, and this one was done nicely. Erin used to have a crush on her best friend's older brother Brad, but that was years ago and his player ways have put an end to her admiration, letting him move in with her won't pose any problems... And when he's in need of a fake girlfriend, and her ex is causing problems, faking it will benefit them both... And getting it on won't be an issue... will it?
Really liked the characters, love books based in Australia, this was a great little read!
Ok, so this was my first book by this author. I'm so glad I gave it a chance! I loved Brad and Erin together. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite categories and this is definitely a new favorite for me. Now I'm going to have to start from the beginning and read every one of this series. I was engrossed from the first page and it carried along until the end. So glad I read it.
This book was very good. It held my interest right from the very beginning. There was a lot of action and the passion between Bradley Mead and Erin Baker, his sister's friend, is built up slowly. I liked that. In some books its happens like biff, bam, thank you mam. I like that it built slowly and a lot of interference from his ememy's wife. Would have loved to slap her up some. Recommend.
Brad and Erin have been friends for years. Now Erin’s e boyfriend has been hired in her company. She didn’t think it would be a problem but now Kevin wants her back in spite of his marriage to Paula. Brad’s company wants a contract with a company whose boss is married to one of Brad’s former girlfriends. To counter both of their situations Brad and Erin decide on a pretend engagement. But rumors keep flying which threatens both their careers. An interesting book.
Roommates with problem exes decide to have a fake relationship to fend off prob!end with those ex loves.
A fake relationship gets more and more tangled as she falls in love with him, and his life becomes extremely complex due to a competitor company presidents sneaky strategies. Some explicit sex scenes.
I really liked the romance between Brad and Erin. I have enjoyed all the books in the Captured by Love series this far. They are just romantic enough without being too mushy, and steamy without being too erotic. The mysteries keep my attention also. I have some issues with the grammar, but that could the difference between America and Australia.
I absolutely adored reading Brad and Erin's story. I was hooked from page one. Once I started I couldn't put it down. So I read the whole story in one sitting. Miranda is an awesome author. I can not wait to read the rest of the series!
It's great how friends can turn into more. Brad & Erin have been friends for years because of her friendship with his sister. He's another relationship shy guy. She loves him but understands. Can they help each other out.
If you like friends to lovers theme stories, then you will love this one between Brad and Erin. Both put the other's needs above their own. They were truly a great pair, sexy and loving.
This book took an interesting turn and had a relatively interesting set up. I enjoyed the writing, felt like the characters were defined and while some of the circumstances/choices made were just plot devices overall I enjoyed this book.
Liked this story. Brad and Tasha needed a cover so they pretended to be engaged. They were friends already so their friendship grew to love. There is friendship, flirting, an annoying ex, trouble making wife of ex. Great group of friends.
Over the years Erin's puppy love has turned into friendship with Brad. He has no need for clingy women. Erin is just going to pretend to be his girlfriend. Right. Sexy times and a corporate mystery.
Brad and Erin were everything! I loved how they were friends first and that later on it became more! I loved seeing all the ups and down they had to go through to make it work. Brad and Erin had me smiling throughout the whole book! So happy they got their happily ever after! 💙
Promises of a good story but instead of giving more details about business deals, the author chose to give endless details about sex that t only detracted. No interest in reading anymore from this author.
