ARC REVIEW
Multiple 1st Person POV. 5🌟 5🌶️. 467 pages
8 Spicy Scenes

Now if you know me you know I’m a huge Kylie Cross fan, if they write it, I’ll read it. And this series is gunning for the top spot of my favourites over the Killer Queens series.

Rattle the Cage picks up right after the events of Off the Rails and it doesn’t let up. There’s so much more mystery to this second instalment and so many more questions that need answered, plus, this one was extra spicy (i couldn’t even fit the menu on 1 slide 🫣). Kylie manages to draw you in from the beginning and have you wanting more, each and every time.

For me this book had an unexpected turn of events and that was, making me fall in love with Cyrus. Usually it takes me to the final book in each series to warm up to the bullheaded ones, Cyrus tops the charts of how quickly my opinion changed. I love the fact she leant more into her vulnerability and finally admitted what she wanted. Now that doesn’t mean she isn’t still completely feral and unhinged, she just has layers, as she should!

I cannot wait for the final book in this series as the cliffhanger almost took me out. And of course for anything else Kylie Cross releases!

If you haven’t already check out the Killer Queens series, the Valemont Violence series and of course the Feverpoint Freaks. Add them all to your TBR right now!

Kylie Cross books always hit. You know this, I know this—they’re absolutely fantastic every time.

But I was not—could not be, will never be—prepared for that. Every book is somehow even filthier and the Freaks. Hit. Different. I truly can’t comprehend how something so dirty can also simultaneously have a gripping plotline and compelling characters and so much sweetness my teeth might rot.

If I had to pick a favorite from this one, it’s gotta be Blade. That woman is ADHD to the maximum, AND intelligent, AND hilarious. Seriously, sometimes she says things that just have me giggling, which is seriously needed stress relief from the [no spoilers!!!]

The other Freaks are pretty great, too, though. I loved seeing more of Cyrus in this one and watching her share more of herself with Tess. And what Nash did in that dungeon… I think it’s for the best that none of them are religious, after what all four of them have done.

The chase is on, and I am READY for the third installment. That cliffhanger is a doozy, but I know it’s worth it to be ready for the next one.

I received a copy of this book as a free ARC and this review is left voluntarily <3

Time to.. Rattle the Cage 🔥🤡

Review of advance copy received from the Author.
Another 5⭐️ read for 2026!

I have anxiously waited to pick up where we left our killer clowns in the first book of the series. Rattle the Cage did not disappoint. No one does sapphic “why choose” books like Kylie. If you wanted more of Nash in book one, you will definitely be rewarded for your waiting 🙏🏻

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 5 Flames

I finished Off the Rails desperate to return to Feverpoint.

I finished Rattle the Cage wondering what exactly Kylie Cross expects me to do now.

This is book two in the Feverpoint Freaks series and absolutely needs to be read after Off the Rails. So much of what makes this sequel hit comes from the history, broken trust and relationships already established in book one.

And Kylie wastes absolutely no time throwing us back into it.

The pacing is fast but steady; there is constantly something happening without the story ever feeling rushed or forced. Even beyond the halfway point, the tension doesn’t drop. Instead, the different threads start tightening together until the story feels increasingly impossible to put down.

Rattle the Cage is a busy book — there’s spice, violence, mystery, emotional fallout and a wider threat growing around Valemont — but if you really immerse yourself in it, the chaos starts revealing deeper connective tissue.

What looks chaotic on the surface is actually held together by deeper emotional threads running underneath.

Trust. Control. Survival. Belonging. Choice.

That complexity is one of the things I love most about Feverpoint.

These aren’t simply murderous clowns in an abandoned amusement park. They’re people who fought to survive and built a life that finally gave them control over their own circumstances.

The spectacle is fun, but the survival architecture underneath it is what makes Feverpoint so compelling.

This sequel also gives the individual characters even more depth.

Nash gets some particularly beautiful development. Her connection with Tess often feels incredibly soft in everyday life, with care shown through validation, accountability and actually seeing what Tess needs rather than simply deciding for her.

Blade remains an absolute force of chaos whose energy practically bounces off the page, but the vulnerability underneath that energy becomes increasingly visible. Some of Blade’s quietest internal moments are also some of the sweetest in the book.

And Cyrus.
Oh, Cyrus.
Their arc was one of my favourite parts of Rattle the Cage.
Kylie Cross doesn’t suddenly soften Cyrus into somebody unrecognisable. Instead, their growth comes through tiny behavioural changes: information shared instead of withheld, control loosened, reassurance given, mistakes acknowledged.
Cyrus’s arc isn’t about becoming softer. It’s about learning that control, logic and self-punishment cannot substitute for trust.
Some of their strongest growth comes when protection stops meaning control and starts meaning respecting Tess’s agency even when every instinct in Cyrus wants to take over.

The emotional payoff is HUGE precisely because Kylie Cross makes you wait for it.

Tess also grows massively. Her conflict isn’t really whether she still wants the Freaks — it’s whether she can trust them enough to let herself want them again.

I loved that forgiveness wasn’t treated like something anyone was automatically owed. Apologies matter, but they aren’t instant fixes. Hurt remains hurt. Trust has to be rebuilt.

Then there’s the spice.
Five flames. Easily.
There is a LOT, but somehow it never becomes repetitive. Different dynamics, different intensity, different power exchanges and completely different emotional contexts keep every encounter feeling distinct.

The Freaks have a very well-stocked toolbox, and Kylie Cross is not afraid to use it.

Even the more complicated group scenes stay remarkably clear. There can be a lot of moving parts, but I never found myself confused about what was happening, and the characters never lose their individual personalities once the heat begins.

Most importantly:
The spice isn’t just there to turn up the heat; it does emotional work too, marking changes in trust, belonging and vulnerability as the relationships evolve.
Power changes as the characters change. Intimacy reveals things they struggle to say. The contrast between brutality and tenderness is particularly effective throughout both Feverpoint books.

Kylie Cross is also brilliant at taking emotion and translating it into sensation. Even something as small as holding hands can feel charged because the imagery makes you physically understand what that connection means.

But for all the violence, masks, blood and graphic spice, some of my favourite scenes were the completely ordinary ones.
Breakfasts. Dates. Errands. Traditions.
Those everyday moments keep everything grounded, and they give the found family a real sense of history. These characters have rituals, memories and routines that existed before Tess, and watching her slowly become part of those traditions makes the sense of belonging feel earned.

The central question quietly shifts from whether Tess can escape Feverpoint to whether she even wants to.
Even money — something that once represented freedom — starts to mean something very different.
Eventually, freedom no longer means leaving.

The wider Valemont world is also used brilliantly. Returning Kylie Cross readers are rewarded with connections to previous books and familiar corners of the universe, but they never feel like empty fan-service cameos. They actively contribute to the story and make Valemont feel genuinely interconnected.

And then there’s the ending.
Absolutely fucking brutal.

Kylie Cross takes everything this book has spent building emotionally and puts it directly on the line.
I finished devastated, furious, desperate for answers and completely unwilling to leave Feverpoint.

An easy recommendation for readers who love sapphic why choose, morally grey women, found family, dark romance, primal play, BDSM dynamics, graphic spice, violence, horror elements, emotional character growth and deeply interconnected fictional worlds.

Read the content warnings.

Read Off the Rails first.

And prepare yourself.

If Off the Rails made me need book two, Rattle the Cage has made waiting for book three feel actively offensive.

KYLIE CROSS EVERYONE!! Literally my favorite author ever

I went into Rattle the Cage already loving the wonderfully unhinged world of Feverpoint Freaks, and somehow I came out even more obsessed. These freaks, y'all. THESE FREAKS. There's just something about these characters and their individual personalities that makes them so entertaining to read. I loved the interactions, the chemistry, and watching the relationships develop. The sapphic why-choose dynamics were everything I wanted, and I was completely invested in all the complicated feelings along the way.

Also what the HELL was that cliff hanger. That's just foul. I don't know how I'm going to wait two months for book 3. I'm so sorry for everyone that has to be around me during that time.

And can we talk about the spice for a second?! because HOLY FUCK. I knew she had it in her but damn did do Nash her big one this book... that dungeon scene-. And okayy Cyrus I see you, get your girl. It was also nice to see her try and be emotionally vulnerable with Tess. Blade is still my favorite and I love her chaotic energy so much. You never know her next move. But Tess STEPPED UP with that one Blade and Nash scene. I never doubted her switch energy. I want all three killer clowns on their knees for her in book 3 please and thank you.

Another HUGE highlight for me was the fall atmosphere throughout the story. Give me all the autumn vibes, seasonal activities, and cozy fall moments mixed with a healthy dose of creepy, dark romance. The contrast between those fun seasonal touches and the darker elements of the story was SO good. It honestly made me want to grab a blanket, a pumpkin-flavored drink, and enjoy being surrounded by masked clowns. I really want to see some Thanksgiving and Christmas seasonal vibes in book 3 because it really emphasized the found family aspect.

Also, I LOVED getting to see my favorite sorority girls make an appearance. Those little connections between their books are such a treat, and I always get ridiculously excited when familiar characters pop up. Honestly, one of my favorite things about reading Kylie's interconnected worlds is trying to guess who might show up next or which characters they'll bring into the next installment. I already have my theories, and I'm definitely going to be keeping my eyes peeled! Could it be the Reapers or even Madame?👀

If you enjoyed the first book, definitely don't skip this one!

God I love this series and these characters. I have really enjoyed how different this series has been from the others. As always thank you K & C for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for you 💚

TROPES
Found Family💚🔪
Groveling🤡🖤
Multiple POV💚🔪
Group Scenes🤡🖤
Primal Play💚🔪
Religious Trauma🤡🖤

The freaks are as feral as the lore around Feverpoint suggests they would be. And I love how easily Tess fits in with them, especially when we got to see a bit of her feral side in CH.29.

Tess is officially a freak, even if she doesn't quite realize it just yet. I loved that we got to see how she is with Lola and Chrissy, their relationship/ dynamic is really something special. It was really endearing that her relationships don't just revolve around the freaks. Tess was such a baddie in this book, she was NOT putting up with any bullshit and I loved that she scared the girls a bit. She made sure she let them know who's in charge, especially in CH. 81 & 82😮‍💨💋

Blade is basically just a kid inside a grown up body. I loved that we got to see more of her "human" side in this book. She is truly just a 12 year old off her adhd meds running rampant around Valemont terrorizing and enacting justice on the morally corrupt.I loved how soft she was with Tess this book and that we got to see how she's whiling to do anything for her. My beloved is absolutely my favorite freak. 🤡🪓

NASH might be the most freaked out of them all. Seeing that dominating side of her had me HOT. And i guess she did say if she caught Tess she'd prove her point and prove did she. CH. 73 & 74 might just be my new favorites. Freaked out aside watching her care for and nurture Tess might be my favorite thing about her. Her love language being making sure Tess is well fed and cared for is so important to me.🪢❤️‍🔥

Cyrus my love it's so nice to finally meet you. She came out of her shell, she genuinely apologized, and she ensured Tess came first from there on out. I absolutely loved getting to learn more about her character and after that finale I think it was done with the purpose of k&c trying to kill me. Falling for her character was not on my bingo card but here we are. I cant wait to see whats next for her.🔪🖤

Happy reading freaks💋

You would think that by now I would know what I'm getting myself into when I pick up a Kylie Cross book. I go into every single one fully aware that my boundaries are about to be pushed, that things are going to get absolutely FUCKED UP, and that I'm probably going to discover something deeply concerning about myself along the way. AND YET, somehow, I am still surprised every damn time. Honestly, at this point, that's on me.
But do I regret it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I leave every single book dripping, foaming at the mouth, and absolutely FERAL for more. My wife loves how unhinged I become while reading these books.
ANYWAYS. LET'S TALK ABOUT TESS.
I genuinely think Tess might be my favorite femme in the entire Kylieverse. This woman takes absolutely ZERO shit from her murderous, morally bankrupt killer clowns, and I am OBSESSED with her. The way she can be so strong-willed, stubborn, and completely unwilling to put up with their bullshit while still being deliciously submissive? HELLO??? THE DUALITY???
And getting to see her explore her switch side in this book?! EVERYTHING. I DIDN'T. KNOW. I. NEEDED. they really said, "Oh, you thought you knew what you liked?".
The depravity. The tension. The absolute INSANITY of these characters. I ate up every single second of it. Kylie Cross continues to prove that there is apparently no limit to how dark, twisted, and deliciously filthy their imagination can get, and I am simply a willing victim at this point.
But can we PLEASE discuss that ending?!
THAT CLIFFHANGER WAS ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICAL.
I am unwell. I am emotionally compromised. I am staring at the wall wondering what the actual FUCK I just read and how I'm supposed to go about my normal life while waiting for book three.
Kylie Cross team, respectfully, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! (Please never change.)
Five absolutely feral stars. No notes. Just an overwhelming need for the next book, a cold shower, and possibly several years of therapy.
10/10 would let these killer clowns ruin my life again.

This is a Dark Romance - Please check those  trigger warnings ⚠️

This review is as Spoiler free as possible

Kylie Cross does it again, bringing the freaks to life on the page. Continuing the 4 person POV ,  Kyle Cross really brings depth to the freaks in Rattle the Cage. We really see behind the clown masked persona's and get an understanding of  the people underneath the impact of religious trauma and forced independence in youths and explores the bonds that only a found family can explain.

In Rattle the cage - is really all about Nash!
Her beast really comes out to play and has some beautiful moments of emotional depth all whilst sparks fly figuratively and literally with Tess!! (TW's)

Blade's chaos is never ending, however we also see a glimpse of her inner child and moments of zen, when she's in her element and has a purpose.

Cyrus also softens, and shows some vulnerability and understand the pressures she feels to keep her family together and both the efforts she goes through to ensure their security, but also how she grudgingly indulged the others to ensure their happiness.

Tess also grows and we see that independent  woman stepping into her power and embracing the chaos and embrace of the Feverpoint and all it entails.

All of the character development is wrapped up in the violence , gore, mystery, drama and spice Kylie Cross is known for!!
If said it before, and Ill say it again - all Kylie Cross books leave you on an epic cliffhanger and this is definitely the most brutal yet!
I cannot wait to see what the next instalment brings - I need to know what happens!
This review is based on the ARC copy, I was lucky enough to receive! This is now my third ARC review for Kylie Cross and I couldn't be more honoured to get another opportunity!

I never thought id be able to say a Kylie Cross book was "homely" but this one managed to bring some cute as hell family style days out that slot in perfectly next to the usual unhinged storyline and 5* spice that you come to crave. I am unsure how they do it, but KC knocks it out of the park every time.

I am thankful Cyrus got a grip on her shit real quick in this book, but there is still room for improvement; If she just said her inner monologue out loud.. I enjoyed seeing her (slightly) softer and vulnerable side though.

Can't rave enough about the ADHD representation that Blades character brings. She is an unstoppable ball of loveable energy. She is smart in unconventional ways and unapologetically herself 24/7 and I love it.

Then there is Nash. The development of her and Tess' relationship was right up there with the cute days out. And then my soul left my body reading the dungeon scene. The soft, emotionally available, homemaker had to have a huge dark side to even her out. She wouldn't be a true Freak otherwise.

I also cant get enough of Tess. She is low-key a Queen. Strong willed, prepared to take what she wants/needs and knows how to put all 3 of the Freaks in their place - partly proven in that incredible pirate ship scene.

The character development in this book is brilliant. And I love how the other books and Valemont characters make an appearance too. The Laniidae girls will always be my favourite, however the Freaks are giving them a run for their money! Not to mention going back to The Station. More of this. More of everything actually.

Lastly. My god. The cliffhanger!! My heart was racing, and we have to wait how long for book 3?! That should be illegal. That said, please never stop doing what you do, I beg of you.

This review is written after recieving an ARC however is left voluntarily.

I may be addicted. send help!
This was great (as in 5 stars) but...

Do you have that little voice in your head that tells you maybe it would be better to wait reading the second book of a series until the last book is out so you don't have to wait and sit for months with the end of the second book because it's bound to be "mean"?
I did not listen to that voice. In fact I never listen to that voice. So here we are again....
I devoured this book, just like I did the first book in this series and well pretty much all the books I have read by Kylie Cross. They never disappoint even when I find myself yelling at the characters for being stupid. But if we were never at least a little stupid, nothing interesting would ever happen.
The spice was extra hot this time. Damn. I feel like i need a cold shower or three.

The second book in The Feverpoint Freaks Series and yet again KC delivered!
I am such a huge fan of ALL their books.
This one is as equally (if not more) dark and deranged than the others.. each time I think they can’t get any freakier KC proves us wrong and I LOVE it.

Tess finds herself back with ‘The Freaks’ and they show her exactly why and how they acquired that title…

I’m such a sucker for the found family vibes of this book and the deep connection they share. I enjoyed seeing the softer side of our killer clowns, as they willed to bring Tess into their circle and protect her at all costs.

I loved getting to know more about Nash, Cyrus and Blade, our tattooed and pierced fearless mascs. Nash is an absolute sweetheart until she becomes ‘Master’ (holy f*ck) her heart is so pure. Cyrus likes to give the ‘bad guy’ persona, under her hard shell she loves and cares deeply. Blade is a ball of energy, chaotic, unhinged and totally loveable.

The spice scenes in this book are so satisfyingly twisted, it’s hot and it’s dark but my god is it good. Nothing is off limits and these freaks know it. Be prepared for some intense smut!

Everything about this book is 10/10, the characters, plot and story is entrancing and I can’t get enough of it.
It ends on a cliffhanger and I am SO READY for Book 3!!

Well, KC has done it again. Another amazing addition to the KC universe in Rattle the Cage, book 2 in the Feverpoint Freaks trilogy.

This book picks up soon after where Off the Rails left off and continues the story of Tess and her 3 masked clowns Cyrus, Nash and Blade.

There is violence, gore, survival, trust, found family and off the charts spice.

I love seeing how each of the characters develop both in themselves and in their connection with each other. It was particularly wonderful to see Cyrus’s emotional development through the book. Getting to know more about Blade and Nash through their personal traditions and was really sweet and added more depth and history to their characters. And seeing Tess step into her power and really start to find her place with the freaks was both beautiful and incredibly hot.
I also loved seeing characters from previous KC books popping up and the dynamic between all of them, as well as getting to know Lola and Chrissy as side characters outside of Feverpoint.

The spicy scenes were, as always, very spicy and intense so make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.

And the ending……brutal!
Can’t wait for the finale in book 3.

(Make sure to read the trigger warnings and Off the Rails first).

The Freaks and Tess are back and still hunting. Tess isn’t putting up with any crap from her freaks or from the Messenger. The second installment keeps the insane coming. It’s not a fairy tale but you may find a demon or three (or is it four?), with a code of course. Tess and Cyrus still have things to work out while Blade and Nash are much closer to their fright night hunting goals and Tess. Poor Tess (and the reader) doesn’t know what she’s in for! Behind the dynamics of the four though they are still trying to get a handle on what is happening in Valemont. The drugs are still pumping in and the zealots and near zombies are amassing across town without an end in sight. While the freaks can take care of business on their own, sometimes everyone needs a little help from friends (or maybe friend adjacent).

Step back into Valemont and Feverpoint for the second book and buckle up, strap up, and try to hang on as Tess and her freaks try to regain their footing with each other and figure out how to save Valemont from the Messenger.

We all love ( or is it me? ) some sexy masked mascs and Rattle the Cage certainly delivers! Blade, Nash, Cyrus and Tess are back and I can't get enough of them.

This is the second installment in the Feverpoint Freaks series so we all know ( and love ) the freaks by now but this book definitely gave us a new peak into their lives and I am here for it. Along with the freaks growth we get to see Tess change in ways that are fitting for the plot and I can't wait for the next book to see where she goes. I also loved getting to see some of Tess' life outside of Feverpoint with some of the side characters that are introduced.

Now this book has a lot of spice, like spicy spicy, which has a lot of ties in the BDSM community, much like we have seen in Cross' past books. I love that there is care to handle these scenes correctly! But as always please read your trigger warnings people!

Now on to the next! And please hurry cause you know damn well what you did to us there. <3

Thank you Kylie for an arc in exchange for an honest review!

Kylie Cross knows how to keep me eating out of their hands and crawling on my knees for more!

The Feverpoint Freaks have been impatiently waiting for our return, and oh boy what a return it was! But did our Freaks really let us walk away?
We still have everything we love about our Freaks which includes
Why choose with masked mascs.
Feral lesbians!
Primal Play!
Feminine rage!
Killer clowns!
Religious trauma.
Piercing and tattoos.
Abandoned theme park.
The spice is still spicing and it’s hotter than sin.

We also get to see some familiar faces and a certain place we would love to visit.

This is their wildest cliffhanger yet and I just know Kylie Cross is giggling and kicking their feet knowing they just left hundreds of people gasping!

Trigger warnings are important to read!

Welcome Back to the Freakshow: Wilder, Darker, and Way Spicier🥵🌶

Rattle the Cage is everything I could have asked for, and more. Kylie took the character development to a whole new level—the depth and changing dynamics completely blew me away. No amount of prep from book one could have ready me for what went down in this book! (And trust me, I read Off The Rails more times than I would like to admit)

What to expect:
Top-tier spice with incredible kink exploration

Unmatched character tension & escalating danger in Valemont

Fast pacing packed with vivid detail (never rushed!)

Drop-dead gorgeous cover art

Rejoining the feral Freaks was a wild ride. Make sure to check the author notes and trigger warnings before diving in!

ARC Review!

🌶️🤡

KC never fails when a new book is dropping. I’ve read all the books in each series so far and Feverpoint just might be one of my favorites. As someone who loves the fair the setting just does something for me. The plot I feel hits home and I can appreciate KC always bringing real-life issues into their books. The way society views women, the way men think everything is owed to them. I feel they hit the points exactly where it’s needed the most. And let’s not forget the SPICE! 5/5 some wild things unfold in Feverpoint and I’m excited to see where they take us next with Cyrus.

I actually hate myself for doing this… I can’t keep reading unfinished series that leave me waiting on the edge of my seat for the next one! Without spoiling anything, the last few chapters will have you on your toes. Honestly, so will most of the book, but you know what I mean!

This is a great addition to the previous book in the series. One thing I truly enjoy is being able to connect tie in characters and details from the earlier books/series... That is always a highlight for me, and this book did not disappoint on that.

Highly recommend if you're looking for something post-Halloween dark (but also sweet) vibes. It has just the right amount of unsettling energy to pull you inl

I’m not going to give any spoilers as I would not wish to take the joy of reading this series away from anyone. If you’ve made it as far as this book and have read the previous series then you don’t need to read the reviews just get the book!

From anyone new coming to Kylie Cross, it is worth it. This instalment brings everything you expect from this author and more. The spice is on point, the next threat to Valemont all too realistic and our three clowns will give you everything you need.

Loved it and am eagerly awaiting book 3.

I received an ARC for this book

I have no words to describe the emotional rollercoaster this book has given me. Kylie was right to say this is the most unhinged series. Besides the great plot, the amazing spice *cough* chapter 59 *cough* and the Halloween vibe, the characters have unique personalities and it’s very interesting to see what’s going on in their head sometimes.
Now I’m waiting patiently for the third book because that cliffhanger was not it 😡

Can’t Wait for the Next Book!

I loved this book more than the last! At first I was nervous getting into this series worried that the characters might resemble previous book characters. And they do have some similarities but in this book everyone came into their own especially Tess. And the cliffhanger! I’m on the edge of my seat for the finale. Anything written by Kylie Cross I’m sat!

I thought the last book was spicy, but the spice in this one was on another level! And that ending! I really need book 3 now.
