This is a hard book to put down once you start reading it. The suspense alone will keep you going as the characters will have you falling in love. The reality feel of the story is remarkable. The author herself shows amazing skills in story telling and writing a novel. If you haven't read this book I would highly suggest that you do and get a copy for a friend or family member that loves to read! A group book for book groups as well!
Chase by Kiara Delaney was an enjoyable read. Cassidy Arbor believes herself to be in love with her fiance, Jason McNamara, even though sometimes she feels things aren't quite right and all the feelings you should have for the man you love aren't there. Her best friend, Janice, believes Jason is a controlling jerk who belittles Cassidy every chance he gets, and is completely wrong for her. An accidental encounter with an unkown man; Cassidy's eyes meet his from across the room and it is as though they are the only ones in the room, and Cassidy begins to second-guess her feelings and wonder if Janice isn't right.
Cassidy decides it is too late to explore a different relationship as she is engaged to Jason; besides, she will never see this man again. Thus begins the main conflict. Cassidy is caught off-guard when she meets Jason's parents - the unknown man is there, and he is Jason's brother, Chase!
The narrative alternates primarily between two points of view - Cassidy and Chase. We see their inner turmoil and struggles as they both try to fight their growing attraction to one another, keep their own secrets, and become privy to the secrets of others. As events unfold, Cassidy and Chase find themselves with even more difficult choices to be made.
Although I found it a bit difficult at times to follow who the narrator was, especially when Janice, Cassidy's best friend, took on that role, this was still a wonderful and enjoyable read. The characters were all very well-developed. I enjoyed how Ms. Delaney portrayed her characters in such a way that not only could I relate to them, but I could "feel" their inner struggles and their experiences.
I look forward to reading Chase 2, the next book in the Chase Saga and discovering if Cassidy will find that happily ever after and true love that she has been searching for.
Need a cold shower and a stiff drink after this one!
The further I read into Chase and Cassidy's story, the deeper it took me. At one point, I thought I may not be able to recover from this book...in fact, depending on what book two brings, I may never recover from this book! The only thing that kept me from me wanting to chuck my kindle across the room for the fifteenth time was my captivation with the story...I needed to keep flipping pages as if I was starving. Chase is one hot tamale! He's the total package, and Cassidy would be a fool not to throw herself at him. Just one problem- Cassidy is already taken, and her fiancee is a full blown jerk! This just makes Cassidy that much more desirable to Chase. We always want we can't have. Cassidy and Chase have one hell of a time staying away from each other, and one hell of a wake-up call towards the end. I can't wait to read Chase 2...I have no idea what to expect, but I'm learning to love that aspect of this author's work.
Emotional and gripping 5 stars This book had me from page one. Chase is such a passionate man, and it shows throughout the book. Chase and Cassidy are drawn to each other instantly, but as quickly as the moment comes, it goes in the blink of an eye. Chase runs into Cassidy in the most unexpected of places shortly thereafter, and shock is an understatement. Throughout the book, Chase and Cassidy face so many dilemmas my head was spinning. This book was wonderfully interwoven with a well written story line, amazing characters that I connected with instantly, spicy sex scenes, and a whole lot of a hot, hot man! This book ran the gamut from humorous to heart wrenching and everything in between. I'm glad book 2 was out, because the ending left me nearly on my knees. A powerful and intense read!
Chase, Book 1 by Kiara Delaney was a great fast paced read. I am definitely a huge fan of Chase McNamara. He's so caring, sexy and determined as hell. The love triangle Cassidy finds herself in between Jason and Chase is intense. I really felt for Cassidy and honestly rooted for Chase, they were in an impossible situation. The inner play between Cassidy and her best friend Janice was funny, sweet and anchored the story. The chemistry between the three kept me reading page after page, wondering where they'll end up. I'm hurrying to begging Chase 2! Whoop!
What a fantastic read Kiara! I was hooked from the get go and read the whole book in less than half a day! I loved the chemistry between the characters and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. You kept me wanting more. I've already downloaded book two (glad that it's available) and can't wait to read it! Thanks for an amazing book!!
If you enjoy love triangles (which I do) then Chase will definitely be a great choice for you! It will have you so mad you want to choke a character or two! Then just for good measure it will leave you with more questions than answers! such a great book with such well written characters. Kiara Delaney definitely has that writers touch!
I could not put this book down! I was swept up in the love triangle and read as though my life depended on it! Thank God I had the second book or the cliffhanger would have killed me LOL
~~~~~~~~~~Shar's ★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
The writing was easy to understand and the characters were all likable enough. However, I found myself struggling to turn the pages. There just was no "oomph" to the story. The build up between Chase and Cassidy seemed off to me. I did enjoy their interactions but who forms an attachment after just a glance at each other across a crowded cafe? It seems like Cassidy is a little Bipolar. She runs hot and cold at the drop of a hat. I prefer a strong, alpha male as the hero. Although Chase had some of the alpha aspects down, he comes off as weak and spineless IMO. The sex scenes were hot. Secondary characters were well written and fit into the story well.
This is not a stand alone and does have a cliffhanger at the end. Luckily the second (and final) installment of the series is already out.
Cassidy Arbor is engaged to Jason McNamara. Right from the start you know their relationship just isn't right. In a chance meeting she gets a glimpse of a man that makes her body sizzle and take notice.
Jason takes her home to meet his family and she discovers that other man is Jason's brother, Chase. Chase also knows something is off with their relationship.
Chase and Cassidy are deeply attracted to each other with feelings that are running deeper every day.
Cass ends with her life in a whirlwind, full of twists and turns that leaves us in a cliff-hanger.
In fact, when I read this book I did not realize it was part of a 2 part series and it really did throw me with the cliff hanger. I really want to know what happens in Cass's life.
This book pulled me in from the beginning and I can't wait to read #2.
Besides editing issues (taught for taut, you're for your, etc.) there were turns in the story that were just weird/awkward/dumb to me (especially inner dialogue rationalizing actions), and THEN it wasn't finished. There's a part 2 (at least) that I'm not interested enough to seek out and read.
