For me, this book was slow to start, but really picks up at about 70%. This book is about Mermaid culture and other creatures from the sea. I appreciated the uniqueness in that, but the magic/powers system could have been better explained and developed. There were times that I was confused, especially at the beginning.
As far as tropes, you can’t really call this enemies to lovers, because they aren’t really enemies. If you do not like a misunderstanding trope, you aren’t really going to like this book. The first 2/3 of the book were frustrating for me because of this. I appreciated the strong FMC. The story felt somewhat slow to me, especially the first 1/3. There were so many questions and not enough evidence and substance to propel the story forward. Once there was a change of location, the story became more compelling and did a better job of sucking me in. However, it wasn’t until the last 1/3 that I could say I truly started to enjoy the story. That being said, the ending felt rushed. There was a lot that happened in the last bit and plenty to leave me thinking this is probably going to be book one of a series. I really wanted some more answers to the main character’s histories and more time spent on the big revelations at the end. I know this is an Indie author, so I give her big props for putting this out into the world. I did enjoy the book and I feel like her writing will only get better from here.
In the back of the book, she thanks the cover artist. But, to be brutally honest, I really disliked the cover art. If I were at a bookstore and saw this book, I wouldn’t pick it up to see what it is about. I mean no disrespect, but I just really did not vibe with the cover. It felt juvenile to me, but maybe I’m just being critical.
Overall, it was a decent read and a solid book for a new Indie author. I see she has one other book listed on Goodreads, and as I’m writing this review I noticed it includes a minor character that is in this book. I would have never known that if I had not looked at the author bio 😂 Anyways, I hope this review helps and good luck to the author for her future books!

Yeah… I devoured this book. 😂📚 Once I started, putting it down was NOT an option.
The world-building sucked me right in, the characters were so well written, and the angst?! I felt ALL of it. The excitement, the tension, the emotions—I was fully invested.
And dual POV? Always a win for me. 🙌
Easy 5 stars. No notes. Just give me more. 🖤
So thankful I was offered this opportunity. Can’t wait to read anything that comes next.

ARC review!
What a great book! I was engrossed from the first chapter! The world building was great & I could picture it all clearly.
Duel POV from the two main characters which was great.
Sexy sirens swimming around the ocean trying to defeat their enemies, bloodlust, mates & spicy scenes.
Would definitely recommend to fantasy lovers

What a journey! Such a different story, and I loved it. Madeira, Deagus, and the cast of characters that surround them are well written. It was a fun and easy read with characters I cared about. So glad I had a chance to read this book. Looking forward to future books from this author!

Really enjoyable to read and I love the main couple. The world building was thorough but easy to follow. Couldn't stop reading once I'd started!
