She lost her sister, Leia, six years ago. She just lost her job after sleeping with an important client. And now she’s losing her grandfather, who is dying in a hospital back home. While on his deathbed, Skye’s grandfather makes one final request: track down Leia and bring her home.
Ellis Waters knows Leia -- at least he did when they were both at Connecticut Psychiatric. But he’s better now, and he hasn’t heard from Skye’s lost sister since. When Skye pleads with him to help her find Leia, he begrudgingly agrees.
But neither are prepared for the secrets they will uncover about Skye and Leia’s mysterious past – and the killer who wants them both dead.
Morgan Black is a hair stylist by day and hottie writer by night. She walks her dogs in high heels and never leaves the house without red lipstick. She firmly believes in the power of Zen, and does Yoga freely in her backyard, in her favorite set of pumps. Morgan Black also writes hot vampire erom under M. Black.
I cannot even describe how awesomely messed up this book is, there are no words. You just have to read it. It's only 125 pages so it won't take you long, so just do it and then marvel at the dark and amazingly talented mind of Morgan Black. Well played, Ms. Black. Well played.
Skye Kellan is called to her dying grandfather's bed with a final request. He wants her to find her twin sister, Leia, and bring her home. Leia has been missing, since she check out of the mental institution. Ellis Waters knew Leia, when they were both patients at Connecticut Psychiatric. Skye tracks him down to see if Ellis might know where Leia is. Together Skye and Ellis go looking for Leia. They hope to find her, before someone else more deadly does.
This story has a lot of suspense and mystery. Many of the characters have secrets and dark pasts that they want kept buried or don't often share. Many of the twists and turns I didn't see coming. Often I thought I knew what would happen next, but I was usually wrong. I loved both main characters, Skye and Ellis. I would like to know what happens in the future for them, if they are able to move on from their pasts and find happiness. I feel that they each deserve that. This book left me desperate for more (like; what happens next, is there a HEA, etc.) I wish that I could say more, but that would give away the story. I recommend that you read it, because you won't be disappointed.
4 1/2 stars
**I was given this arc book in exchange for an honest review.**
Skye is trying to find her twin sister who has escaped from a psych ward and seems to blame her for her woes. Reading this book I really wanted to like it, it's not bad but not great either.
With the suspense of what's happen to her sister it makes you want to keep reading to find out. But after knowing what the mystery is I'm not sure it was that interesting kind of fell flat for me.
I had expected so much more then what was delivered.
Skye Kellan twin sister Leia disappeared six years earlier and now that her grandfather is on his death bed he wants her to go and find her. Ellis Waters was friends with Leia when she was at a Psychiatric Hospital in Connecticut the year before she took off so Skye enlists his help to find her. While they are out looking for her they find out that there have been a few murders in and around the town that Ellis lives and all the women that have ben killed look like Leia. So you see what I mean when this book had so much potential, the story line is a good one but it just fell short. And the ending, oh yeah that was a doozie! I'm sure not many people saw that one coming.
This was the first book that I have read by Morgan Black and although I wasn't a big fan of this book I do plan on reading more of her work.
I received an ARC of the book by the author and Hot New Books for an honest review.
The story was good, I think it had the potential to be even greater, but fell short. The narrative was pretty fast-paced and in some instances it felt like there were scenes that were either cut out or too rushed just to fit within the amount of pages. The mystery didn't built-up enough to cause suspense, and was solved quickly, which was kind of disappointing and fell short in some situations, specially at the climax of the story. The criminal was indeed someone I really didn't expect and the ending was definitely a surprising twist.
Shamefully, there was not enough character development to empathize on a deeper level with the main characters, but I enjoyed their stories and actually liked what was given of them throughout the book.
I would give it around 3.5 stars just for the ending but overall it was an enjoyable, short read.
First Time I have read Morgan Black and boy does she know how to write drama filled with suspense, mystery and sexy heroes!
This story from the 1st page has you wondering what the heck is Skye going to do when it seems everything around her has gone bad. You will find yourself questioning what she does and trying to put the pieces together for it to make sense.
I enjoyed the mystery of this book but there were times where I felt it was a bit too much that I caught myself reading some parts over again to piece it together.
When I got to the end of the book, shoot I was completely surprised. Was not expecting the twisted ending and I do have tons of questions I feel still needing to be answered.
If you want a good mystery that will play with your head, go get this read.
Caustic reads more of a suspense than a romance, yet it does contain one, very sexy night together between the two main characters, Skye and Ellis. I thought the story was very well thought out, the pace steady, and the characters well developed. Certainly, it was the plot that had me following the path of a missing person, I wanted to discover who the villain would be, and if Skye’s twin sister, Leia, were ever to come out alive.
There were edit problems that drew me out of the story, proofreading of the book would make it flawless. Having said that, Ms. Morgan has written an intriguing and convincing story with twists and a monumental surprise at the end I did not see coming. Great job.

So not what I was expecting! That's a good thing really. It was so much better than where I had the story going. I started reading this late last night and was sucked in right away. I only stopped reading when I succumbed to sleep but once I woke, my kindle was right back in my hand. The ending had me floored. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all. I really would like to see a continuation of this story to find out more about certain circumstances and people involved. I can't name names because I don't want to give it away. But I would like more on everyone!
~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~
This book had me at the edge of my seat the entire time! I couldn't put it down!!! This book is very suspenseful. You think one thing, but then you are totally blindsided by something else. You think you know what is going on, but then another twist happens. Morgan sure knows how to keep you on your toes!!!! I really can't write a very long review because I do not want to give anything away. Let me just say this, there is a dog, a cabin, some rain, a psycho killer on the loose, and a past that isn't buried in the past! You NEED TO read this book!!!!!
Suspenseful, weird and nothing like you can expect.
I recommend it just because it will surprise you, and only that is worth it.
Despite the slow pace, it's got a good mystery and investigation plot. A missing sister, a pledge to find her before it's too late, a secret past, then add to that a sexy, tortured hero, and you'll be thoroughly entertained.
I liked the mystery surrounding the sisters as well as the character of Ellis. He's strong, tortured yet has a noble heart. The story ends with a violent note and a surprising plot twist that will either leave you breathless or dumfounded. Find out for yourself!
Twists and turns abound in this seamless mystery about twins separated by insanity and the plagues of the mind. I am going to be short and sweet with this review because there is so much I could give away. I want you, the reader, to experience the complete mindf*ck that is Caustic for yourself.
Excellent writing, thought provoking characters and situations, and a fast-paced, suspenseful storyline made me fly through this book. I could not put it down. I just had to see what was going to happen next! Honestly one of the best dark romantic suspense books I have read in a very long time. One-Click it RIGHT NOW!!!!
I liked this story and its dark suspense. Skye's life seems to be falling apart, when her dying grandfather requests her presense and asks her to do something for him. As Skye embarks on the adventure, she finds that things and people are not what they seem to be. I wish there was more about Skye and her history and how she got to be where she is. So many unanswered questions, plus I would love to read more about her and Ellis and what happens next.

Wow! I don't know what I was expecting but that was totally unexpected. I can't say too much without giving away details and spoiling but OMG! The books starts off a bit slow and I didn't think I would like it but then so many twist and turns come at you so fast it makes your head spin. Its listed as a standalone but wow I need more, this needs to be a series because I NEED MORE! I only give it 4 stars because of the beginning, and the ending that has me breathless and gasping for more pages that don't exist, other than that it was perfection!
I received an ARC of the book by the author and Hot New Books for an honest review.
The book was okay. It had a lot of potential to be something great, but sort of fell flat. I didn't really feel like Skye and Ellis had that great of a connection. And couldn't understand why this girl's family left it up to her to find a girl that obviously didn't want to be found. While reading I was left wanting more. There were times I just couldn't get past the typos too. The twist at the end made the entire book, but it still left me with a lot of unanswered questions.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review* Leia walked out of a psychiatric hospital three years ago, and disappeared. Skye, her identical twin, is now searching for her, at the request of their dying grandfather. Her search leads her to Ellis, a former patient who was close to Leia. Neither Skye nor Ellis can deny their mutual attraction but there is a killer on the loose who may put an end to everything before it can even get started. This is an intense dark thriller which mystery fans will enjoy.
Wow hooked from start to finish. Skye has made a promise to her dying grandfather that she will look for her sister but with the trail going cold years ago it seems like Leia doesn't want to be found, with the help from Ellis and his four legged friend they search for her,but every clue has them at a loose end. Few twists to this story and and ending I had to read twice to make sure I read what I did. And trust me you will never see this coming.
Skye’s grandfather has made a dying request, that she find her twin sister, who she hasn’t seen in six years after checking out of a mental institute. Skye goes to Ellis, who was in the hospital with her sister Leia, can they work together and find Leia before it is too late for either sister? This is an action packed drama with so much suspense and mystery, I couldn’t put it down. I must warn this is more suspense than romance but none the less a really great read.
OMG is all I really have to say but I'll say a little more. The book had me from the beginning with everything that is going on Skye's life. It is so suspenseful and I couldn't put it down until the end. The end was OMG I didn't see that coming. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to read more from this author. Hope you all enjoy it too!!
Ok there's so many pieces missing to this story. Although you gave the truth in the complete end, it still didn't fill-in other details that would've brought the believability full circle. Too many unanswered questions and inconsistencies to fully grasp the suspense or the crime. But you're a great writer from what I've read from your other works, this wasn't your best.
I received this book for an honest review. Skye and Leia are identical twins who are nothing alike and falling apart. Leia is committed due to suicide attempt. Skye is sent to find her sister by her dying grandfather. She finds a clue in a journal by the name of Ellis. This search is amazing and I loved it. And I really, really loved the ending. Such a dramatic twist
I got this book to read for a review. I loved the book. it was awesome. it held me from the very begining. I could not put it down. the ending isn't what I thought it would of been but it wad still great. can't wait to read more of morgan. books. keep up the great work morgan.
What a book. This is not a book that you can put down. It has a little romance, adventure and mystery. I don't want to give anything away so you will have to read it for yourself. Well worth the read.
This was great book, minor spelling errors and great flow and drags you in, Its was way to dark and not something I was comfortable with, there was some romance and a lot of drama but that ending throw me off and the story all goes back to that one incident.
This was a really great book, I liked it very much I don't know if I can every go thro that with my sister. It crazy how u think u know your sister but at the end u really don't what going to happen.
I loved this story and how it unfolds with the mystery and suspense. Kept my attention from the first page to last. I highly recommend it. I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review.
