I’ve burned countless humans to the ground. She’s the first one I’ve saved.
Her orchard shouldn’t be here. Neither should the woman in the middle of poisoned country.
She's supposed to be a tribute. Nothing more.
Instead she bargains her people's lives against mine. Stares down my axe without flinching. And thinks her harvest can convince me to stop.
I take her anyway.
Not as a prisoner. As a debt she has to pay. I tell her to grow something in my dead soil. I didn't plan on her growing on me too. Because I’ve realized something important.
She was never mine to keep. But I’m going to anyway.
Read on if you love a battle-scarred commander who's never shown mercy until her, a clever heroine who bargains her way out of every threat he makes, and a slow burn that turns tribute into something neither of them can walk away from. HEA guaranteed.
This Protheka romance story is about Ella our human who created a fertilizer formula that brought dead soil back to fertile land and our Orc Commander Drok of the Burning Sun Clan who arrives at her settlement demanding how the land that dead for 30 years is now blooming with life. She tells him and is taken to his clan to restore their fields or else. What occurs is an engaging story that was entertaining to read with likable characters as Ella toils their field as a relationship form between Ella and Drok. I'd volunteer to rea and review this copy I'd received.
This was a good storyline but if your looking for steam you will be disappointed. I liked how Drok the mighty Orc warrior took the human women to save his people when they could have destroyed them. Ellie has hidden in an apple grove from the enemy and she has taken the knowledge her family had to make the apples and crows grow again. So when she is taken for her skills they will be used to help the very beings her people have been hiding from. As she helps them with a time frame hanging over her life she starts to see them for the beings that they are. She makes friends with not only the other humans but with the orcs themselves.
An understanding a recognized need a service before self a choice not to abuse to learn a realization of growth solid foundation please make this a small series I would love to to know the clans future
