The Fractured Prophecy

Rate this book
Three tortured souls. One desperate escape. A prophecy that could change everything.

Princess Leuruna has lived as a prisoner in her own castle, her powerful magic siphoned to fuel her father’s ruthless quest for domination. Broken by abuse and control, she dares to hope for freedom when her betrothed offers kindness—and a glimpse of life beyond the palace walls.

Rivven, a fierce half-elf, failed to assassinate King Balram—and paid the price. Tortured and condemned to die, he blames the princess for Nyah’s fate, taking the woman he loved from him. He never expected to rely on Leuruna to survive.

Now, Nyah exists only as a voice in Leuruna’s mind, bound to her sister by magic no one quite understands. Her body destroyed, her guilt overwhelming, Nyah is desperate to reclaim her form, save Rivven, and end her the king’s brutal rule.

When a daring escape gives them one last chance for freedom, a seer’s prophecy, forbidden magic, and fragile alliances may be all that stands between them and a tyrant’s unstoppable power.

Perfect for fans of romantic fantasy, epic storytelling, prophecy-driven quests, and dark magic, this sweeping tale blends danger, sacrifice, and hope against impossible odds.

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted books.

The Fractured Prophecy is book 2 in the Sisters of Magic and Shadows series, and it is filled with hidden secrets, magic, and the determination of two sisters and their chance at freedom. After book 1 ended I was really intrigued and captured to find out where the story was going to go, so I couldn’t wait to get back into this world. The story has so many creative spins that it’s unlike anything I’ve read before. Book 2 picked up right where book1 left off and the journey continued. There never seemed to be a moment of rest for the characters, and they had a lot of decisions to make. I loved the character development throughout and the character dynamics with each other as each character had to adjust to their circumstances. It was interesting to experience and see it all unfold. There are some dark themes and traumas the characters are working through. I loved the muli-POV because it gave you more than one perspective and added an extra layer of understanding. I think this book lays down a lot of groundwork for the next book, and I’m really excited to see where it goes.

If you love romantic fantasy, epic storytelling, prophecy-driven quests, yearning, high stakes, sacrifice, hope against impossible odds, and dark magic then I recommend checking out this series.

Fantasy, emotional damage and characters who desperately need five minutes of peace. That was too much to ask because Nyah, Rune and Rivven are out here collecting trauma like it’s a bloody side quest. I really enjoyed getting back into this world and watching all the pieces slowly come together. There are answers to questions I’ve been dying to have answered since the first book but naturally, getting a few answers only means being handed a fresh batch of questions. Thank you very much for the emotional inconvenience, Lizzy.

The magic and world building continue to expand and I loved learning more about where the power comes from and how everything connects. Between the dangerous quests, mythical creatures, political schemes and all the secrets floating around, there is never a shortage of things trying to ruin everyone’s day. The stakes felt bigger this time and the characters were definitely paying the price for it. Nyah has so much to deal with. She’s been pushed into situations no one should have to endure and I wanted to reach through the pages and give her a hug before helping her commit a few well deserved crimes. Her determination to keep going even when she’s terrified made me root for her even harder.

Rune also has my heart. The relationship between the sisters remains one of my favorite parts, their bond felt meaningful even when everything around them was falling apart. They have each other’s backs in a world that seems determined to test just how much suffering two people can survive. At this point, I would like the universe to leave these women alone. Just for a weekend. Please. And then there’s Rivven. My poor, emotionally wrecked man. Seeing how deeply he cares about Nyah and how much their separation affects him gave me plenty of feelings I did not schedule into my reading time. His desperation to get back to her had me wanting to shake him and hug him at the same time. Sir, please take a breath. Actually, never mind. Carry on being completely gone for your woman because I’m here for it.

I also enjoyed the different POVs, they gave me a better understanding of what was happening beyond one character’s immediate experience. That said, there were moments when the pacing felt a little uneven for me. With so many perspectives, revelations and moving pieces, I occasionally found myself wanting the plot to settle into a smoother rhythm rather than jumping between developments. I was still invested in what was happening, but not every section held my attention equally. The emotional weight is another thing worth mentioning. There are some heavy themes and genuinely uncomfortable moments, so this isn’t exactly a cozy little fantasy adventure where everyone gets to wander around with magical creatures and drink tea.

A huge thank you to the NerdFam and Lizzy Gayle for allowing me to read this eARC ahead of its October 20, 2026 release. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to read and experience this installment early. Thank you for letting me be part of this journey!

Did Not Finish

I finished the first book and really enjoyed it. I got about halfway through the second book, The Fractured Prophecy and just couldn’t finish it. I really didn’t like the back and forth of Nyah and Leuruna. The constantly switching out control of her body was something I just didn’t like. Then you had Torvo and Rivven constantly jealous of each other because of the back and forth.

📚 The Fractured Prophecy by Lizzy Gayle ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5 Stars)

Just a heads-up: I went into this one without reading Book 1 first, so I was jumping into the story a little out of order!

This book has dark fantasy, tortured characters, dangerous magic, prophecies, and a fight against a ruthless king. 👀 We follow three characters who are all dealing with their own pain, guilt, and struggles. Leuruna is trapped under her father’s control, Rivven is driven by anger and loss, and Nyah is fighting to get her body back while trying to save the people she loves.

I liked the idea of characters who have every reason to blame each other being forced to rely on one another. The complicated relationships, forbidden magic, and fragile alliances made for an interesting setup.

That said, I think not having read the first book affected my experience a little. There were moments when I felt like I was missing some background information, which made it harder to connect with the characters and fully understand everything happening. I also wanted a little more depth in certain areas to feel more invested in the story.

Overall, this was an interesting fantasy read with plenty of potential, but it didn’t completely pull me in the way I hoped it would. I would definitely recommend starting with Book 1 if you’re planning to read this series!

Question for my fantasy readers: Have you ever jumped into a series without reading the first book? Did it affect your experience? 👀📖

Thank you so much to the author and "thenerdfam" for letting me read and review

I recommend reading the first book because I didnt and was a little lost, and had to download the first book to understand what was goi going on alot lol, I thought this book was well written with, relatable, but at times very complex characters with so many layers to pull back and discover things about them, I love characters like this. I loved the world-building, thought it was incredible, I cant wait to read more from this amazing author

I really enjoyed book 1 and the whopper of an ending that one was. This book was a little hit or miss for me.

It definitely answered a lot of questions and the plot is getting thicker and thicker. But with the multiple POVs (and a plot element I won't spoil), it felt very stop and start to me.

I do like most of the characters though and the book was still enjoyable overall and of course I'll read the next one to find out what happens!

In The Fractured Prophecy, the second book in Lizzy Gayle’s Sisters of Magic and Shadows series, the struggle for freedom is inseparable from the wounds left by power, betrayal, and loss. Built around three deeply troubled characters, the novel brings together a captive princess, a half-elf condemned to die, and a young woman whose existence has been reduced to a voice inside someone else's mind. Their circumstances are painfully different, yet their survival becomes intertwined in a conflict against a ruler whose ambition threatens far more than their individual lives.

Princess Leuruna's situation establishes one of the story's most compelling conflicts. Although she lives within a castle, she is hardly free. Her father, King Balram, exploits her powerful magic to advance his ruthless ambition for domination, leaving her trapped in a life defined by abuse and control. Her betrothed's unexpected kindness offers a glimpse of something she has rarely been allowed to imagine: a life beyond the palace and the possibility of making choices for herself. Her journey toward freedom is therefore not simply an escape from physical confinement; it is also a struggle to reclaim her identity and the power that has been taken from her.

Rivven brings a different kind of pain and anger to the story. A fierce half-elf whose attempt to assassinate King Balram has failed, he finds himself tortured and sentenced to death. His resentment toward Leuruna is rooted in his belief that she is responsible for Nyah's fate, the woman he loved. This makes his unexpected dependence on the princess especially interesting. Two people connected by suffering and suspicion must confront the possibility that survival will require them to trust someone they have every reason to blame.

Nyah's situation adds an unusual emotional and magical dimension. Existing only as a voice within Leuruna's mind after her body has been destroyed, she is caught between guilt, desperation, and the desire to regain her physical form. Her determination to save Rivven and help end the king's rule gives her an active purpose despite her extraordinary circumstances. The mysterious bond between the sisters raises questions about identity, sacrifice, and the limits of magic, while adding another layer to the already complicated relationships among the central characters.

The escape that brings these three lives together gives the narrative its urgency. A seer's prophecy, forbidden magic, and fragile alliances stand between them and a tyrant whose power appears almost impossible to overcome. What makes this premise particularly appealing is that victory cannot depend on strength alone. The characters must contend with emotional injuries, conflicting loyalties, and the uncertainty of whether they can trust one another long enough to challenge the forces controlling their lives.

At its heart, The Fractured Prophecy explores the price of domination and the difficult work of reclaiming freedom. Its combination of dark magic, romantic tension, prophecy-driven adventure, and personal sacrifice gives the story several dimensions beyond a straightforward battle against an evil ruler. The relationships are especially important because the characters' survival depends not only on what they can do with their abilities, but also on whether they can overcome the fear, guilt, and resentment separating them.

Lizzy Gayle brings together the ingredients of an engaging epic romantasy: a princess fighting to reclaim her autonomy, a half-elf driven by love and loss, a sister caught between worlds, and a prophecy that could change the fate of them all. Readers who enjoy emotionally charged fantasy, complicated alliances, forbidden magic, and stories where hope emerges from deeply difficult circumstances will find plenty to draw them into The Fractured Prophecy.

Thank you to The Nerd Fam and the author for the gifted book!

I had high hopes for The Fractured Prophecy after reading The Imrati Trials, and it did give me a lot to enjoy, especially if you love fantasy stories including tropes like dark magic, complicated characters, and dangerous prophecies. The storyline genuinely had me invested, but there were some aspects that I didn’t completely love.

I will start by saying that I appreciated that the character’s struggles added depth to the overall narrative. Leuruna’s journey and POV brings an interesting perspective to the story. However, I found myself frustrated with her overall at many points during the story. I also couldn’t get on board with how her and Torvo’s relationship progressed so quickly. They had very, very, limited time together before they were suddenly in love and betrothed. For a girl who’s spent her whole life captive in a castle, I could understand how she may jump to those feelings quickly. But Torvo just had feelings for Nyah 10 minutes before he met Leuruna, so it ultimately felt a little too unrealistic to me.

The magic system is unique, and I loved the journey that all the characters on as far as the plot goes. The intermingling of gods and magical stones, scepters, all of it was a fascinating concept. I do, however, think we don’t get any real insight into the perplexities of the system until the very end. I think there could’ve been times where it would benefit from being slowly introduced instead of cumulating the last 10% of the book.

The ending also had me very confused, as I felt like it ended quite abruptly. I was certain there was more coming in the next chapter, until I realized I had just finished the book. This didn’t feel like a cliffhanger, and instead felt like leaving us with far more questions than necessary.

While it didn't completely blow me away, it had enough compelling moments to make the reading experience worthwhile. I can definitely appreciate what the story was trying to accomplish, even if a few aspects didn't land as strongly for me as I hoped.

These poor characters can't seem to catch a break! Thank you to the author and The Nerd Fam for this wonderful ARC. The Fractured Prophecy is a triple POV romantasy and serves as the second book in the Sisters of Magic and Shadow series. It picks up right where the first ends and follows Leuruna, Nyah, Rivven, and Torvo as they race to escape Balram's evil rule and navigate their emotions through it all.

This was a great second book to this series and I had so much fun reading it. The plot got thicker and lots of questions were answered. I loved that there was no time lapse between the ending of the first book and the beginning of the second. I loved seeing all secondary characters come back and the impacts they had on the story. I was annoyed by Leuruna at first and the fact that her character development was solely for a man, but then as we watch her really come into herself and her power, it was amazing to see. I loved how protective Torvo was of her. I was heart broken for Rivven and Nyah and could feel their pain and frustration every time Nyah had to leave. I loved the world building and felt the pacing was fast, but it worked for the story. Unfortunately, I did find myself skipping some of the descriptions to get to the rest of the story and I don't fully get the whole gods plot… yet. Like in the first book, some of the battle scenes left me confused about what was going on and I would have to reread the scenes, which interrupted my flow.

What a great second entry into this series! The ending left me with more questions than when I started, but that's what the next book will answer!

Received an ARC for a review!

The Fractured Prophecy by Lizzy Gayle serves as an ambitious, high-stakes sequel that significantly widens the scope of the Sisters of Magic and Shadows series. Picking up right in the wake of the devastating revelations from The Imrati Trials, this second installment expands our lens from Nyah’s solitary perspective to multiple points of view—deepening our understanding of the kingdom's fractured loyalties and political turmoil.

The aftermath of book one’s climactic twist sets up a uniquely tangled dynamic. Exploring the resulting love square made the interpersonal tension complex and messy in a compelling way. Princess Leuruna (Rune) is heavily featured here, and while I completely understood the trauma and desperation driving her choices, she definitely ruffled my feathers at times—which is a testament to Gayle writing flawed, conflicting characters who elicit real emotional reactions.

My primary critique lies in the character voice and age framing. While the cast seems intended to be in their twenties, their dialogue and thought processes occasionally read quite young, veering into teenage immaturity during serious moments.

However, the strengths of the sequel easily carry the story. The addition of new cast members injects fresh life into the group dynamic, the inventive magic system continues to expand with the inclusion of dragons, and several mid-story revelations genuinely caught me off guard. And that final act—gah! Lizzy Gayle knows how to deliver a punishing cliffhanger.

An emotional, fast-moving continuation that pays off on its setup while leaving readers desperate for the next chapter.

I was easily swept back into this story with a vengeance. Book one left us with an epic cliffhanger that had me barely hanging on, and book two takes everything to the next level. The worldbuilding is a thing of beauty, expanding even further with new lands, more gods, and seemingly impossible magic. It's a diverse and vibrant world full of infinite possibilities, and what I love most is that whenever you think you have a handle on things, something else slithers out of the shadows.

I was so glad to get more Rune. She's soft and fragile, afraid of the world, but maybe even more afraid of herself. Trauma has been her only constant, and she's been sheltered and abused her whole life. We get to see her find her fire, prove herself, and start to recognize her own worth as she fights for the one person who has always fought for her, her sister Nyah.

She also finds herself betrothed to Prince Torvo, with his dark skin, white wings, and cobalt eyes. You can't help but be infatuated with this gentle giant. He's fierce and honourable. They're fighting the same war, but he sees the light in her, and as their connection and trust begin to draw them closer, his protective nature grows. His fight becomes about more than the war itself. It becomes about Rune, her safety, and her heart. They were simply stunning!

Now, Rivven and Nyah have their own battles to face. After the devastating revelations of the last book, they have even more hurdles to overcome as the crew regroups and continues the fight against the evil king. Their journey takes them all into unforgiving lands filled with danger and death, while Rivven and Nyah struggle to find their way back to each other. Their yearning had my heart aching throughout the entire read. Their path isn't just about finding their way back to each other. As prophecies come to light, they begin to realize they're part of something so much bigger, and this is only the beginning.

I honestly ate this up! Lizzy has created something truly special, and I can't wait to see where she takes us next!

She was never meant to exist and was created to help the princess through her trauma, but now that she does, even the princess herself refuses to give up trying to get her back.

Picking up right where the last book ended with Nyah being revealed to be a part of the princess and being called back to her and now trapped in her mind, the pair who have always functioned as sisters must learn to share the single body they now inhabit and find a way to escape the cruel rule of the king. With the princess now engaged to be married to the winner of the trials, a kind and large man who offers her freedom and his help in escaping her father, she wants to live her own life but also find a way to free the sister she created from her mind, especially as the man she loves is trapped in their fathers dungeon and suffers each day he remains there. The group must learn to trust each other and the magic the two girls carry in order to gain their freedom and stop the kings plans of spreading darkness to the other kingdoms.

I enjoyed getting this many POV book and seeing inside each of their minds as they navigated the complicated situation of the two girls sharing a mind/body. I also loved seeing the princess slowly start to trust the magic she’s always feared and become stronger with the help of her sister and the man she’s starting to love. There are many obstacles and conflicts for the group to overcome, escape if they want to escape with their lives, and I enjoyed all the action and adventure of their plotting and working together to try to bring Nyah back. With a lot hanging in the balance and even more reveals at the end, I can’t wait for the next book to see how this all shakes out! My rating 4.5/5!

What an incredibly interesting continuation of an already fascinating story!
After the first book, I had so many questions, and I couldn’t wait to get back into this world. Well, Lizzy Gayle certainly didn’t disappoint when it came to expanding it! More magic, more secrets, more danger, and an entirely new level of emotional intensity.
One of the things I enjoyed most was the world-building. There is so much happening, yet the author continues to introduce new elements that make the story even more intriguing. The magic system, the political conflicts, and the mysteries surrounding the characters all add something unique to this fantasy world.
I also really appreciated the multiple POVs. They allowed me to understand the characters on a much deeper level, especially their struggles, motivations, and complicated relationships. The character development was definitely one of the strongest parts of this installment.
And the emotional damage?! Goodness! These characters simply cannot catch a break! There are some genuinely heartbreaking moments, but also a beautiful sense of determination, loyalty, and hope throughout the story.
I will say that the pacing felt a little uneven in certain places. With so many perspectives and developments, some transitions could have been smoother. However, the overall story kept me invested and curious about what would happen next.
I particularly enjoyed how much darker and more complex everything became compared to the first book.
Overall, The Fractured Prophecy was an engaging, imaginative, and emotionally charged sequel that left me with even more questions than I started with. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where this series goes!

I remember my shock at the end of the Imrati trials, the twist of all twists that I didn’t see coming and I was so excited to see what would happen next! The fractured prophecy follows on from the events of the Imrati but gives us more povs, this time round we get to hear from Leuruna as well as Rivven and Nyah. This adds an interesting dimension because Leuruna was such an important character in the Imrati trials and yet we barely saw her in it, only mainly referenced by Nyah.

It was jarring getting used to the new dynamic between the characters. The body sharing at times made me feel uncomfortable especially with the growing relationship between Rune and Torvo. I felt so sorry for Nyah and Rivven having to be apart. Torvo is such a gent though. Loved how he treated Rune, especially as a survivor of SA. He knew just what to do and say to help put her at ease. I wasn’t a massive fan of Leuruna as a character if I’m being totally honest, but I feel so much of this book was a misdirect as to who the most important character is in terms of power so that worked well.

Lizzy is able to really create some truly terrible Villians. Ones that you just want to see come to a grisly end. Belram is bad enough but Serano…what a creep!

This book delved deeper in the lore and it was interesting to find out more about the stones and the gods, I have no idea what is going to happen next but I’m excited to find out!

"No dreams plagued me. Reality was enough."

The Fractured Prophecy has a lot of really great pieces that come together to create a compelling story, world, magic system, and characters. From the start I was intrigued to see where this story would go, how the pieces would come together, and find out more about these characters and their relationships.

There are multiple POVs throughout this story, which create multiple interesting lenses through which to see this story unfold. There are some heavy themes presented, but they are important for understanding who these people are. I really liked these characters! The connections felt satisfying and had me invested right away - Rivven's story, in particular, immediately had me hooked. I also loved the dynamic between the sisters and found the

I did come into this story at book two, so I am at a bit of a disadvantage. However, the way this world, plot, and characters are presented (and are really fleshed out in this book) I was able to hop in connect to them and understand what was going on. I never felt too confused!

Overall, this was a fun adventure. :)

The Fractured Prophecy
By Lizzy Gayle
Sisters of Magic and Shadows, Book 2

I ate up The Imrati Trials and devoured The Fractured Prophecy like there was no tomorrow!

Book one gave us dangerous trials, forbidden magic, Nyah and Riven’s slow-burning connection, and enough secrets to keep me completely hooked. Book two said, “That was cute—now let’s add more danger, trauma, betrayal, and chaos!”

The story grows much bigger as Nyah, Riven, and Leuruna fight to survive, reunite, and finally stand against the cruel king. I loved seeing the story unfold through the different POVs because each character brought another emotional layer to the prophecy and their complicated situation. The action moved quickly, the magic became even more interesting, and every answer seemed to create five new questions. My brain was working overtime, but I was fully invested!

This sequel was emotional, intense, and filled with unexpected twists. Lizzy Gayle expanded the world beautifully while keeping the characters and their relationships at the heart of the story. And that ending? Excuse me while I impatiently wait for the next book!

Thank you to Lizzy Gayle and The Nerd Fam for providing me with an ARC and allowing me to continue this incredible journey.

I heard about this author through The Nerd Fam! Thank you, Nerd Fam, for an advanced copy of this book!
Below is my honest opinion.

I rated this book four stars! Overall, I liked the storyline and the different POV's. In this kind of story, I feel like different POV's are critical to understanding the world fully. After reading the first book, I was able to start this one immediately after, which I am grateful for. The second book definitely expands a lot deeper than the first book did, however, I feel like the first book was slightly better than the second one. Just my opinion. There were a few spots where the pacing felt a bit choppy? And, the ending has me confused. Maybe it's just me? But, I did enjoy the dark magic elements, the sisters and the unique thing that they shared (I don't want to put any spoilers in here). Now, be warned, there are some heavier topics in the book, so be sure to read your trigger warnings before you jump in blind. However, know that the book needs those heavier pieces to give the characters depth (in my opinion).

Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to a friend!

Nyah, Rune and Rivven are still in traumatic situations but I had missed this world. The emotional toll in this book can be a lot. There are some very heavy traumatic themes and moments that will stay with you as a reader. There are shady political maneuvers, dangerous trials, encounters with creatures and so many secrets. The world building continues and we learn answers to so many questions. That just brings up so many more. Again there is so much going on. Nyah is up against things no one should have to endure and even though she is scared she is determined to see things through. Rune and her relationship with her sister is the strongest thing in this book. Rivven all he wants is to get back to Nyah. He is so in love with her and desperate for their reunion. With the interwoven plot lines, shifting dynamics and plot threads you have to stay with the characters POV’s to understand everything going on around them. I truly enjoyed this journey. Thank you to Nerdfam and Lizzy Gayle for my ARC of this book.

I was so excited to receive this ARC, after finishing book 1's ARC in February. I was keen to jump back into this after the wild ending of book 1. I liked that this jumped right back into where book 1 finished. I enjoyed seeing Nyah and Rivven again, and seeing more of Rune. Rune's growth in this book was a strong point. I was a little thrown by Torvo's love declaration being so early in the book, but we will see how that pans out in the next book. The yearning between Rivven and Nyah was great, and I liked how they were adult enough to respect the wishes of other characters given the circumstances. I don't often enjoy a 'travelling' type of book where they are constantly on the move, so I think that is my only downside. The world building was strong though, as well as the backstory to the magic system and the involvement of the Gods was good to. Keen for the next one!

This book had me hooked with its mix of magic, dangerous prophecies, complicated relationships, and characters who are pushed to their limits. There’s so much happening throughout the story, and I loved how the stakes kept getting higher.
Nyah and Leuruna’s journeys were especially interesting to follow. Their struggles with identity, guilt, and finding the courage to stand up for themselves added so much emotion to the fantasy. The worldbuilding was another highlight, with different kingdoms, powerful magic, ancient secrets, and gods who make everything even more complicated!
I did feel that some parts were a little overwhelming because of how much was happening at once, and I would have loved a few more moments to fully take in the emotional scenes. Still, the twists, character development, and relationships kept me invested in the story.
Overall, this is a great pick for readers who enjoy high-stakes fantasy, powerful magic, complicated family dynamics, and emotional character journeys.

Magic, Gods, Pirates, mysteries, dragons, and evil rulers in an immersive continuation of book 1.
Book 2 started a little slow for me it took a bit for me to get back into it, but when it picked up around half way I was once again back in that intense world I loved from book 1.

Book 1 concluded in a monumental way and book 2 does give the answers I was waiting for. I loved the way it worked out and the explanations and revelations that unfolded. The plot is so intriguing and the story really is fascinating.
I loved their quest and that the journey includes some seafaring, pirates, and mermaids. The last half really was full of action and raises more questions I will need answered,
I much prefer Nyah and Rivven’s relationship then that of the other MC’s and I think that's why it was a bit sluggish for me in the beginning.

Book 2 has quite the cliffhanger reveal at the end too, and I will definitely continue to see where this story goes.

I am obsessed with this book and am already salivating for the next one. The Fractured Prophecy by Lizzy Gayle is the long-awaited second book in the Sisters of Magic and Shadow series, and it takes place after book one leaves us with the mother of all cliffhangers. Book two serves up long-awaited answers and introduces more questions, as we follow our three main characters on a harrowing journey to escape and overthrow the evil king. The romance hits hard, and I find myself waffling between Torvo, our super sweet, protective giant-sized MMC with silver wings, blue eyes, and dark skin; Rivven, our tall, dark, and brooding deadly fire-wielder with a temper; or Galan, the charming, crafty, pretty side character who isn’t even meant to be in the running. The character development for our FMCs, Rune and Nyah, is AMAZING. The stakes are both emotional and physical. Oh… and there’s dragons. Five stars, and definitely recommend.

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for this eBook!

Illio shattered the godstone and doomed his descendants to suffer the pain of forbidden love.
Leuruna endures pain and suffering at her father’s hands as he siphons her magic to fuel his quest for power.
In order to defeat her father, Leuruna must challenge her confines, and learn to trust her magic, her betrothed, and seek the answers to an ancient prophecy.

I enjoyed this book, but struggled at times to follow along, as there are multiple POV’s, and at times I found the plot a little stilted- or it skipped over important details. The last third of the book I thought was the best, and I would still like to read the next book to see how the story plays out.

I couldn’t wait to get back into this world, and it picks up right where book one left off with no time to breathe. Leuruna, Rivven, and Nyah collect trauma like a side quest, and I wanted to give them all five minutes of peace. Nyah, existing only as a voice in her sister’s mind while desperate to reclaim her form, made me want to hug her and then help her commit a few well deserved crimes. The bond between the sisters is my favorite thread, and Rivven’s desperation to get back to Nyah left me wanting to shake him and hug him at once. The magic expands in creative ways, the multiple viewpoints deepen everything, and answers only bring fresh questions. The pacing wobbles a little and the themes are heavy, but I’m eager for book three.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This is book two in The Sisters of Magic and Shadows series. If you had questions at the end of book one, you'll definitely get some answers here in book two on some things. The author definitely continued our emotional trauma journey. I do recommending reading the first book in order to fully understand the complexities of this story and just the emotional journey up to this point.

Rune has always been my favorite and youll see why. This story makes you ask, " What is the price of true price of freedom?" I often wondered how much one person could take.

The world building, and the magic was great to read about. These characters have so much depth and you truly connect to them. You feel for them and you cheer for them.

This was a definite 4 out of 5 star read for me.

After the explosive ending of book 1 that I never saw coming, I was so excited to jump into this story.
We kick off with more quests and adventures including pirates and sea creatures and mythical beasts. The world building is intense and detailed and completely immersive.
There are very heavy themes throughout, with a lot trauma, but both Nya and Rune go through great development as they face their pasts (and Rivven, he also has to put up with a lot, poor guy!).
We also get all the backstory behind the magic and I absolutely loved this reveal!
The trust and bond between the sisters is perfect and the ending sets us up for the final instalment.

Coming off book one and straight into book two my interest and hope was high.

Lots of action and a lot going on! We were jumping around 4 POVs and seeing a lot. It got a bit hard to read in the middle but the ending really pulled us through!

Book one was focused on the challenge of the trials. This book was more focused on the big theme of fighting the evil king. And I’m here for it! I was not expecting what we found out in the last 20% of the book but I was here for it!

And tbh Rune was doing my head in for most of the book but she did redeem herself at the end.

Good read, will I be reading the next book? Definitely

Lizzy Gayle's The Imrati Trials (Book 1 in the series) had me on the edge of my seat with its sudden and shocking plot twist, and I've been biting my nails ever since, wondering what happened to Nyah! The Fractured Prophecy did not disappoint, delivering answers I definitely wasn't expecting. But wow, did Gayle ever do it again—leaving me with a whole new set of questions! With its rich character development and world-building, adrenaline-filled scenes, and the ever-deepening mysteries surrounding Nyah, this story takes you on a wild ride that will keep you turning the pages. In fact, I'm already almost done with my second read! The only drawback? Having to wait for the next book!

This book starts from a cliffhanger so high, I was scared of falling. It's hard to say anything without spoiling it, but believe me: it is really interesting and it will keep you glued to the pages.

The story is filled with half-truths and half-lies that slowly come to light. Two sisters, two MMCs, and one common enemy. Nyah, bound to her sister, struggles to understand her true identity—the biggest mystery of the book. Together, they manage to escape and search for a way to defeat the evil king. I can't wait to discover how the story continues in the next book!

I am very grateful to the author and the nerd family for the gifted ARC

Thank you @thenerdfam nerdfam for eARC for a honest review. I enjoyed the journey of this book. I liked how this book had multiple points of views throughout the book. The sister bonds through this book tugged on my heart strings. I loved the magic system and how the world building was set up and how it expanded through the book. Highly recommend if you are looking for a book with an interesting magic system. And relatable characters. If you love a slow burn with angst and lots of trauma along the way I recommend picking this one up!
