I really liked the premise of the story. Peter Pan has always been one of my favorites, and this was an interesting take on the story. This one focused more on the darker original version, which was refreshing. I liked Elara and Peter’s back stories, but I wish there had been more detail, particularly for Elara’s history. When the timeline of her life before coming with Peter to Neverland is explained, it is very brief and a little difficult to follow since there were no names mentioned.

I was a little irritated by the emotional maturity of Peter and Elara-or lack thereof. I understand that they are both young and have both had to learn how to get along in the world on their own, but they came across as immature and flighty to me. Maybe I’m just too old to relate to young love, but the way Elara, in particular, talked about being so certain that she belonged in Neverland with Peter defeating Hook in one paragraph and in the very next one, was sure that Peter didn’t even want her there at all, was frustrating. I understand having moments of doubt, but there were kind of a lot of those moments. Peter had them, too, in addition to anger that didn’t seem to match the situation.

Overall, the storyline was good, but it just felt…incomplete. There was something missing. It just didn’t pull me in.

This book has a lot of potential! I really like the premise and the lore built behind Neverland and the lost Princess. I would have liked to see a bit more of Elara’s backstory to make sense of who she is when we meet her at 21. We get a small window but not enough.

Elara and Peter are very cute together, and both of them go through moments of, for lack of a better term, sheer stupidity. I expect that from Peter, the boy who never grew up, but I expected a bit better from Elara.

I wanted more information about the book. Elara makes a big deal about going to the fairies for answers and training, and they just have her read a book? No strength training, no history lessons? And all we see is her (and eventually Peter) reading the book, but we are never given passages of the book to read ourselves. We’re being told how they feel as they read it but we’re not shown why they should feel that way.

She goes back to the hideout physically changed, and Peter even mentions she is toned with muscle and definition, but I didn’t feel she’d earned that based on what I read. She read a book, she didn’t have a whole training montage. But I’m just being nitpicky.

Overall I enjoyed this book!

The premise of the story is really interesting with a twisted version of the world we all love. It took me while to get into it as I found the scenes repetitive at times but as the book came to the end the author created shock, hope, and new version of happily ever after. I would have liked a bit more backstory as the story progressed but it definitely grew my interest closer to the end. Also the title is really great.

Neverland’s Princess offers a fresh and intriguing take on the world of Peter Pan. The concept of reimagining Neverland through a princess’s story immediately creates a sense of adventure, mystery, and magic.

This was a fantastic retelling of Peter Pan. I enjoyed the classic elements that remained, and the new twists that the author included.

It took a bit for my brain to wrap around the idea that the characters are adults in the novel and Peter doesn't actually stay a kid forever. I kept picturing them as kids, and then they'd do or say adult things, and have to pause. The FMC also acted a bit childish at times, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I also wish, the ending (climax to save Neverland) was longer, more detailed. I felt there was so much buildup and then the book just ended.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and recommend it to those who enjoy fantasy. I need there to be a prequel novel that dives into the life of Peter, Wendy and Tink. Fingers crossed the author writes one!
