He throws his head back and laughs. It sounds really good. "No. It is difficult to stalk someone when you don't know her name."
Damn. That's a good point. He grins at me. He's obviously been running for a while. His shirt has a V of sweat from his neck to his belly. It's clinging to him just enough that I can see the outline of his chiseled abdomen.
Thinking about his abs is not helping me catch my breath.

A random text from a wrong number send Tim to a bar named Shenanigans to see if the woman matched his imagination. Sweet turns out to be more than he hoped for and the one that he couldn't help but follow. Sweet tries to walk away, but when their worlds keep intersecting, she's unable to hold herself back from the growing attraction. But she's guarding her heart and he's guarding secrets.
Excerpt: "Geez, you’re killin’ me," he says to the sky and runs his hand through his sweaty hair. "I've never had to work so hard to get a name before.”
"Penelope." He whips his face toward mine. I hold out my hand in introduction, "It's nice to meet you Tim. I'm Penelope Matthews, but most of my friends just call me Sweet." He smiles, a smile that reaches his eyes. He takes my proffered hand for a shake but pulls it to his mouth and places a gentle kiss on my knuckles.

Tim received a text message telling him to go to a bar named Shenanigans at 7. It was the most fun he'd had all day, so he decided to go to the bar to see the woman who had sent him the text message.
Sweet and Tim see each other the first time in Shenanigans. It was obvious that they were attracted to each other. Tim tried to ask Sweet out, but she was quite hesitant and turned him down. She's been hurt before, so she wasn't eager to risk getting her heart broken again.
Tim was persistent though. When he finally got Sweet to agree to date him, they clicked instantly.
There is some intrigue in the story concerning Tim, but it didn't overshadow the light atmosphere of the book. Nothing like a good contemporary novel to cozy up to!
I'm really curious about Ned and Gloria! What's up with those two?!
This was a really lovely read, one that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters were instantly likeable and the story flowed well keeping me hooked in until the very end.
A chance meeting brings Tim and Sweet together – Sweet sends Tim a text believing it to be her best friend Anne’s number and after exchanging a few messages he is so intrigued by the person behind them that he finds himself in a bar called Shenanigans to see if she could possibly meet up to his expectations.
Tim has recently left the FBI following the death of his partner and has headed home to start working for his best friend’s dad in his law practice. His attraction to Sweet is almost instant and the feeling is mutual.
Sweet is the smart business woman who has been guarding her heart and hasn’t been in a relationship for 4 years. Hurt badly by her previous boyfriend she has been cautious with men not letting anyone close until she meets Tim.
As the book goes on, we learn that Tim has a story and Sweet knows he is keeping something from her. She doesn’t want to ignore her instincts but she has already fallen for Tim and him for her. I loved the intimacy between Sweet & Tim which was intense at times and very emotionally charged. This was a light read with the right combination of intrigue, suspense and romance and a fantastic debut novel and I look forward to reading what this author has to come next.
I wish this author would write more because I thoroughly enjoyed her story. There were a few minor errors and I’m not a huge fan of the writing style (first person/present tense) but for a first time publish this was great imho. The main characters were interesting but not perfect. The side characters added to the story but didn’t take it over. The plot was believable. Great job. Now please publish more ;-)

Tim has called his time on the FBI to an end, his last case was the final straw, and he knew it was time to walk away. The death of his partner was a bitter blow to take and he wasn’t sure he had the stomach for it anymore, so he headed home but was everything as it appeared, was it all truly over and could he settle back into normality? Sweet was the one thing he really didn’t bargain on when he put his plan into action and she wasn’t about to make it easy for him. From the minute she misdialled him and he turned up at Shenanigan’s the two of them were destined to become embroiled in something they just couldn’t control. But mixed emotions have Sweet at sixes and sevens, she has been hurt previously and is in no hurt to venture down that path again but the way she feels about Tim she really is going to have to decide which way to jump and to get a wiggle on about it! The connection between Tom and Sweet was lovely to read, they were so emotionally connected that the way they got to know each other and the pace with which their decisions encouraged them to evolve was just perfect. This is an evocative read, one that was difficult to put down and impossible to find fault. I look forward to the next book, and getting a sneaky peek at the end has just piqued my interest.
