A run-in with an ex-boyfriend at a bookstore makes Claudia wonder just how in control she is of her paranoid personality disorder. And does the other shopper really have a gun?
Elizabeth Holden (she/her) is a writer, a physics teacher, a travel company owner, an X-Files podcast host, and an avid roller derby player. She believes the ideal conditions in which to write a novel are in the dining car of a train traveling through the Alps, with a pot of tea beside you--though she does most of her writing at her home in Wisconsin.
Borders is a quick story about Claudia, who is on the way to visit a friend. She has to stop for a bathroom break and does so at a Borders bookstore, right at closing time. Several things happen in the short time she is in the store. She is scared by a strange man she is sure is carrying a weapon. She runs into her old boyfriend Josh and is forced to understand why they broke up and whether or not she still has feelings for him. Claudia is forced to face and embrace her past.
The novella may be a few pages but could fill several pages. It was one of those books I began to read and didn't want to put down! I recommend this book to anyone who has a few extra minutes and has the need to read something. This would be well worth the time invested. Five stars!
I wish this story was longer. I would love to know what happened next. I'm sure if it was longer I'd give it a higher rating. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it.
