This book is full of love. Love of the people who created it to Bergman and Faro, stories about Bergman’s love to the land of Faro, to its people.

In Ukraine we all try to go to the big cities to find our way, and this is an example how a tiny island could bring you all you need for life and inspiration. That sometimes magic happens when you do not expect or trying to find it. And that the right place can change your life entirely.

One star of five is given for a quality of the book. It is gorgeous! Paper, a lot of photos, pages of his diaries and so on. Happy to have it in my library

Mycket intressant reportagebok - nästan antologi - om Bergman och hans förhållande till Fårö. Läste den på engelska för att den enda jag pratar Bergman med är en cinefil Londonvän. Tänk att se på film klockan 15 varje dag - maj till oktober - i 30 år, i egen biograf, förstås.

Eller egentligen är det en 'talking heads'-dokumentär i skriftlig form. Lokalbor uttalar sig, ofta lakoniskt, om något de minns från filminspelningarna. Många stillbilder eller andra foton från bakom kameran. De lokalhistoriska glimtarna från det kämpiga och karga ölivet genom tiderna är en stor del av behållningen.

Interessant boek over Bergman en Fårö. Omdat ik boek van zijn dochter las, is dit een mooie aanvulling. Op 4/8/15 was ik op Fårö, een fascinerend eiland.
