I’ve been searching for a dark romance where the MMC is POSSESSIVE, obsessive, stalks her every move, falls first, and falls HARD. And then I met Ares. 🫠

Meanwhile, the FMC Victoria who has spent FIFTEEN YEARS plotting her revenge. Her plan? Kill Ares and his father. automatically , I am sat!
At first, their little game gave me Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibes, then it started reminding me of the Mindfck* series. I thought, “Oh, she’s the dangerous, morally gray one.” BUT NOOO. He’s right there with her. And this man… OMG.
When I tell you I canceled today’s work meetings to finish this in one sitting, I shit you not. I was laughing my ass off one minute, picking my jaw up off the floor the next, and occasionally putting the book down because I needed to TAKE A BREATH.
He gets SO jealous. When she’s texting, he’s like, “Who is she smiling at?” Then he checks, and it’s literally just a cat reel her friend sent her. LMAO. Or when he yells at his employees because they looked at her a little too long?! And the court scene, he literally could not take his eyes off her and covers her legs with his coat.. OMG!
But that one scene in his office… THAT was the best. I could go on forever!! Julian did not get the CLUE.. hehehehehe (what are you doing still reading my review, go and pick up this book!)
He puts surveillance all over her house to spy on her. He’s absolutely feral for her, and the level of possessiveness? It brought me to my knees. Ares, please. I had things to do today.
The pacing was FAST, the story never felt repetitive, and I wasn’t bored for a second. I wish I could tell you every scene that had me losing my mind, but I refuse to spoil the experience....
Just know this: Victoria plotting his murder, Ares completely obsessed with her, and I’m completely obsessed with THEM.

Fifteen years to build, mold, and become the weapon she needed to be. Soft when required, beautiful to behold, and deadly when necessary.
Fifteen years to finally avenge what was taken from her.
She has a plan, and she’s spent years preparing for it. But plans have a way of changing when people, emotions, and the unexpected get involved.
I found myself rooting for both the MMC and FMC, even when they stood on opposite sides. Watching their paths collide, the lines blur, and unexpected connections form made this so damn compelling.
And the emotional damage? Immediate. I was crying within the first few pages. 🫠
Dark, emotional, beautifully tangled, and very, very good. The kind of story that keeps pulling you deeper the more you read.

I was so excited to receive an ARC copy of the Devil I wanted, I couldn’t wait to start reading it … and I wasn’t disappointed.
I was in need of a story that pulled me in straight away as I was in a bit of a slump and this definitely did that, l was hooked from the off.
Ares was the perfect possessive MMC, and I love it, so unhinged In all the right ways. I loved the power play between Ares and Victoria, not knowing who was going to gain the upper hand.
I love to read for escapism and this was brilliantly that.

The Devil I Waited For completely pulled me in. From the very beginning, I was hooked by the dark atmosphere, the tension, and the complicated relationship between Victoria and Ares.
Ares is the kind of hero who walks into a room and immediately owns it. He is intense, dangerous, possessive, and absolutely impossible to ignore. Victoria, on the other hand, isn't someone who simply bends to his will, and I loved the push-and-pull between them. Their chemistry was🔥🔥🔥, and every confrontation felt charged.
What I enjoyed most was the enemies-to-lovers dynamic. There is so much tension between these two, and watching their relationship develop kept me turning the pages. Their story has that delicious combination of obsession, danger, emotional vulnerability, and undeniable attraction that I look for in a dark romance.
The atmosphere was beautifully dark and haunting, and the story kept me emotionally invested. There were moments when I wanted to scream at them, moments when I wanted to hug them, and plenty of moments where I was just sitting there thinking, “Oh… this is going to be messy.” 😂🖤
Ares and Victoria are definitely a couple that will stay with me.
If you love dark romance, enemies-to-lovers, possessive heroes, intense chemistry, morally grey characters, and relationships filled with danger and tension, this one deserves a place on your TBR.

The enemies-to-lovers dynamic was everything I wanted—the hostility, chemistry, push and pull, and that delicious feeling of knowing these two are playing with fire every time they’re together. The darker elements gave the story an edge, while the romance and emotional tension kept me invested from beginning to end.
I especially loved the morally grey vibes and the way the relationship develops rather than feeling too easy. There’s anger, obsession, desire and plenty of moments that had me thinking, ohhh, this is going to end badly… and I’m absolutely here for it. 😂🖤

Shocking, that's the least I can say... I LOVED it!! Several times, I had to hold my jaw in place because it dropped to my chest!!! That's how shocking it was!!!
Now, I love judges and lawyers in romance. They're ruthless in their trade, but for the woman they love, they'd burn the whole world down. Even if that woman is secretly, quietly and softly poisoning them.
Ares Ravenscroft is arrogant... he has all the right to be actually... why not? He has everything: the looks, the money, the status... But he's also obsessive, possessive, and a STALKER... he loses it when he sees her upset, and his protective side shines. And don't even get me started on the tension between these two. HOT HOT HOT! 🔥🔥🔥
Victoria's story broke my heart. What happened to her when she was only ten... I can't even imagine what that little girl went through. She spent FIFTEEN YEARS preparing for revenge. She trained, she planned, and she became the Viper, a wanted woman who never misses her target. Until him... She came into his life with a fake identity, ready to destroy him and his father. She had ONE job, and she was damn good at it. But then she started hesitating. She started wanting the happiness he made her feel, and for someone who had spent fifteen years living for revenge, that was a LOT to handle.

I loved watching these two play their little game, both hiding secrets, both having their own plans (with the same objective, actually), and neither realizing just how much the other would get under their skin. And when the secrets start coming out? EVERYTHING gets even more complicated!
Victoria discovering that she's not alone and that there are people who care about her? My heart! ❤️ And his father? A SLEAZY BAG OF SHIT. He deserves to die, NOT ARES!

And the best part? Victoria doesn't suddenly forget who she is because she's falling for him. I was sitting there wondering whether these two would get their HEA or die trying to get justice!

Right from the beginning, you know the purpose- the why we have such a strong and broken FMC, and you almost feel what she has been through, what she experienced 15 years ago. You feel her pain, and you do want to join her in her revenge.
You will fall in love with the MMC falling in love with her, and it's breathtaking, beautiful. And the image of a strong, unbeatable man, but also with his nightmares.
The multiple POV (mostly dual until the end), the descriptions, the train of thought, the yearning, the obsessiveness, the possessiveness, and the plan, the revenge, that end... all these make you want to forget what you read so you can read it again, and again, and again!
Love it, 5 stars just because I cannot give 6!

Fast paced, dark, fun and devilish all in one breath
I want to start by thanking the author so much for this opportunity. I had so much fun reading this, cramming it into break times at work and staying up that extra half hour because I physically couldn’t stop reading.
It was written brilliantly in terms of the descriptives, it really set the scene so it played like an interactive movie in my head, everything had detail, everything had a cause; Victoria had motive while Ares appeared to have none. I do wish we had maybe ten or more chapters of her working for him. It moved so incredibly fast in terms of how they met and how they got together it would have been nice to read more of them. I feel like there’s an opportunity towards the beginning to show us that Ares himself isn’t ‘dick for brains’ for lack of a better term, he felt quite easy (as I suppose most men are). It could have been nice to see the lust he had for her started as an inkling, gave us maybe a few more chapters of him slowly realising he was obsessed with her, could have filled it out more, or even a few more spicy nights in by Alessandra while she was being watched, just to pull it out a tad more, I say this because I didn’t want it to end haha, but saying that, the timeline did work despite it being so fast paced.
The ending was a whirlwind, while I expected some parts I genuinely thought it was going to go down the first route Ares had chosen, I would have loved to have seen a few more days of the ‘courtroom warfare’ , more of a build -up before the final but wow! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a bad bitch in action, I love Victoria, she takes no shit, she's dangerous and calculating and it works well with Ares. Now Ares is 👌🏻, him putting his jacket on her lap was so cute, I adore how claiming he is with her, protective and careful...he is described as a Demi-god so that definitely helps

This is one of those books I'm going to be thinking about long after I've finished reading it. It's really well written and has me hooked. I'm addicted and couldnt put it down desperate to see what happens next, especially when their secrets start getting revealed.
Victoria and Ares are both fighting for control, thinking they have the upper hand, while not realising just how much control they have lost when it comes to each other.
It was so hot that it had me blushing. Don't even get me started on the spicy scenes. They were so hit I was sweating (My husband is also very greatful for them).
He is obsessed with her from day one and I'm eating it up. Ares is likely going to the top of the book boyfriend list for lots of women who read this. The man would burn the world down for Victoria.

This book is a chef kiss!
It sucked me in from the get go. The chemistry and banter between the MFC and MMC was so hot and at times hilarious. It sucked me in from the get go. The chemistry and banter between the MFC and MMC was so hot and at times hilarious. I loved the book. I was supposed to have read 1 chapter yesterday... welln that chapter took 6 hours of my life and I completed the whole book. 🙈

I loved the how unhinged and obsessed both MCs were. Ares and Victoria are really made for each other.
The suspense, tention, yearn and actual adult conversations were amazing.
Now on the lookout for other books by Maria.

The story is about the FMC Victoria (aka Alessandra Croft) and the MMC Ares.
Victoria is out for revenge for the tragic death of her parents, which was caused by Ares’s father. To achieve her goal, she goes undercover as Ares’s assistant. The chemistry between the characters is delightful, and Ares quickly becomes obsessed with her.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The attraction between the FMC and the MMC is beautifully written.

This is an enemies to lovers dark romance book and boy does it tick all the boxes!!! Delve into the world of Victoria and Ares, there is suspense, twists and turns, be warned there is some spicy scenes but written in the best possible way!! I could not put this book down for a second!!
