The Divided Worlds #2

MOIRA: A Girl and Her Dragon

Rate this book
After an aborted escape lands Moira in the "Hall of Truth" – a state of the art torture chamber managed by the master administrator of pain, Ruolruy the Silent – she endures two days of unimaginable torment before being released on one condition: she must serve as companion to the legendary warrior and reputed demi-god, Thrassis, within the lodestone mine which also serves as his prison.

Thrassis has a special skill – the ability to amplify and restore energy to lodestone crystals, the main source of mechanical power on Akrasia – a skill the authorities extort by holding his mother hostage. Yet despite this constant threat, Thrassis succumbs to a crippling loneliness without companionship. For decades, the ruling ministries have dealt with this problem by providing beautiful, intelligent women to assuage this need.

Moira is transported to the famous warrior not knowing what to expect; what she discovers is a kind and compassionate man whose incomparable physical strength is fully matched by his strength of character.

Moira struggles with her growing feelings for Thrassis and her unwavering resolve to return to her father and the life she left behind.

In the end, she discovers that the price of freedom is far higher than she had ever anticipated.

A well-written novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. Finally returning to Earth, Moira's problems are just beginning as she struggles to stay one step ahead of Akrasian bounty hunters while trying to return to her father and the life she left behind. The story was full of conflicting emotions and interesting adventures with a delightful twist at the end. It was a pleasure to read.

This book picks up immediately after Abduction to Akrasia ends, and just like the first this is both fast paced and enjoyable. Moira finally gets back to Earth though her troubles are far from over. She’s on the run from some of Akrasia’s best bounty hunters who will do whatever it takes to bring her back, dead or alive. This book is filled with both physical action and psychological suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. There are many unexpected twists that will leaving you guessing where the story is going, and just when you think it’s all over you look around and realise all is not what it seems.
