Introducing part 3 of Claire Adams' new hot Navy SEAL romance series...
Ava Klein is a college student with a dark secret. In order to protect Ava, her father has hired Brian Flynn, a former Navy SEAL with a secret of his own. Resentful of her absent father's attempt to intrude on her life, Ava searches for a way to get rid of Brian, but a frightening run-in with the past sends Ava running straight into Brian's arms and leaves her wondering if his interest in her is professional or if there is more the strong silent soldier isn't telling her.
So with Dominic still wanting Ava, he will go to any lengths to get her back. I like how we are getting to know Brian better and what he went through and also the relationship Ava had with Dominic. Just when everything is going good and Brian promises Ava to always be there for her, he completely turns cold. Can't wait to see what happens next, will Dom be stopped, can Brian be who Ava needs or will once again Ava feel alone again
I think this installation of a most awful serial really puts a stamp an why I really dislike this story (aside from the juvenile writing, poor characterization, and hideous dialog) -- it's that the author is allowing the main character to embody the whole victim of abuse card to the most extreme. Not only that, but it's almost to the point where the author is practically telling women that it's OK to allow someone to beat the shit out of you and you'll apologize to them for it and happily ask for seconds.
This is the exact opposite message that she should be sending -- you absolutely WANT young women (and men for that matter, because domestic abuse is not even close to being solely the domain of men beating on women) today to report crimes like this (which would go a LONG way in the fight to reduce domestic violence).
I am very angry at the number of people who have read this series and given it 4 and 5 stars and praising the direction that the story is going, because they are just enabling the cycle to repeat itself over and over again.
The message that should be sent in a story like this -- be brave and report your attacker; work with the authorities to keep people like Dominic from repeating the cycle of abuse; force them to get help (and to get help themselves); and above all, if you know of someone who is the victim of abuse, help THEM, don't stand by and watch as Brian has done more than once.
There are a myriad of ways that this story still could have worked within the confines of this more positive message, but the author choose not to go down that path, and for that reason alone I feel sorry for her.
I am angry with both this author and the book. And you should be too.
So far this book has been pretty unoriginal. Ava is giving Brian a hard time. Trying to run away from him or thwart him at every turn. Brian stays calm even though you know he wants to freak out on this spoiled brat. She has little regard for anyone else or even for her own safety. Pretty tame story so far. These books are just ok. Not terrible....not great. Something to pass the time.
Ava is a spoiled little rich girl. Shes away at college and meets a boy. He turns into a controlling psychopath. She tries to leave him and he becomes violent.
Ava's father is a wealthy man. He wants to protect his daughter, so he hires an ex navy man to be her bodyguard. Ava takes offense to that. Her father has really never been in her life....shipping her off to boarding schools and standing her up all the time. He throws money at her to try to make up for his lack of being a father. Ava wants to take care of herself. He father wont listen to reason.
In walks hot, sexy, Brian. Not your typical bodyguard. He watches every move Ava makes, but is he doing it to protect her, or is it something more??? We all know the answer to that question. Shes hot....hes hot....sparks are gonna fly.
more and more this book is disappointing. he's supposed to protect her from her sadistic ex, but he let's the guy choke her and only yells for him to stop? But this is a trained Navy Seal??? Then it goes on to say she wasn't going to let anyone control her life yet she pretty much let's him. on top of that she tells him she can't have sex with him after telling her story of abuse and manipulation yet he manipulates her into it. yeah this author needs to learn how to write
Determined! Ava continues to have her hot bodyguard, Brian, watching over her. Will she be safe? Will Dominic attempt to hurt her while her sexy protector is nearby? As Brian and Ava learn about their pasts, a comfortable friendship develops. Can they hold off on their attraction? Do they want to? Claire Adams did a fantastic job in writing Protector 3. I can't wait to see what book 4 brings!
Ava is one rich college girl,,got involved with bad, abusive boyfriend, now he is stalking her. So of course her Daddy hires body guard, Brian to keep an eye out, she finally tells Brian about how bad her relationship was with Dominic, and she is really unsure if she can trust anyone? Feelings? Her parents are never there for her, too busy. Ready for bk. 4.
