Roxie's mother gave her ten rules. Ten rules to attract, seduce, and snare a rich husband. Too bad Roxie seems determined to break each one of them. Curvaceous, tall, and more than a little sassy, she doesn't need a man and she sure as hell doesn't need saving from her messy life. Especially from the kind of wealthy, stuffy man her mother envisioned for her daughter.
So when charming, corny, laid- back billionaire Trey Martin stumbles into her world, Roxie is caught off-guard. He's handsome, wicked sexy in the sack, and a complete complication. It feels like he's trying to swoop in and be her knight in shining armor. Trey manages to push all of Roxie's buttons: the bad ones, the good ones, and the oh-so-good ones.
Whether his arrival is fortuitous or disastrous, Trey is adamant in his pursuit of Roxie. Does letting him mean sacrificing who she is? Or will embracing this bold billionaire help get her back on her feet? Roxie's beginning to fear that all her rule breaking will leave her with a broken heart.
Penny Lam grew up in North Carolina but never fully mastered the accent. She skipped a lot of high school and went to more colleges than Sarah Palin. It took a long time to figure out something she loved doing enough to stick with it. When she isn't writing, she helps build airplanes and rocket ships, attempts to do yoga, and drinks a lot of red wine.
There is so much meaning in this book. It really put you to thinking. You want to chew on each and every thought for a while. I think the author has done an amazing job.
I loved Roxie. She was this beautiful, stubborn, at times self center, plus size woman. She would speak her mind in a heart beat. You always knew were you stood with her because she did not care to let you know what she thought. It was funny at times at her reaction and the things that would come out of her mouth. But she had so much going on in her life, it was all she could focus on. She even appeared to hate things that seemed to be going well in others life. Like if they had money to pay their bills, good job, and even money to put food on the table. But one thing you had to give to Roxie she was working on be independent she really did want to stand on her own two feet. Which made it hard for her to want to ask or except help.
Seemed like everything was falling apart around Roxie. My heart actually broke for her. And to see such a strong woman ripped apart, harassed, and humiliated by some one that had power over her seemed so wrong. You wanted to just jump in the book and fight for her. It well showed that we all face hard times and need a hero sometimes and Trey was that hero for Roxie.
Trey was just suppose to be a one night stand. Roxie knew this guy she was picking up had money. It showed it in the tip he left her. He was like this Kinky Greek Sex God. Way out of her league. Her mother had aways had these 10 rules of catching a man. Did she follow them. Hell no!!!! Roxie was one that had this huge rebellious streak. Trey defiantly had his hands full.
If you have not figured out by now, I loved this book. It is a story well worth reading. I truly hated to see Trey and Roxie story come to an end. One more thing and I promise to end this review. Another thing that I also loved was Roxie did not fell she had anything to offer Trey. Trey had everything, he was rich and a CEO. Roxie ended up giving him a couple of amazing gifts. But to know what those gifts were you will have to read the book to find out.
I was given an arc copy for my honest review And all I can say is holy hot I loved the story yes of course the billionaire is hot but my favorite character in the story was Roxanne I loved her determination her stubbornness her sassiness and her no take shit from anybody attitude Roxanne was A sassy bartender who just couldn't get a break from anywhere she worked at a dump of a bar going through school paying on her own struggling with rent car breaks down her check bounces for school and she has an asshole of a boss at the bar that keeps harassing her and through this the words from her mother of the 10 rules to catch a billionaire keeps going through her head and every rule that her mother has said to her she has fought against she would not follow the rules. From what can I say about Trey there was no hiding the fact that yeah I knew Trey was the billionaire when he first walked into the bar and they hit it off over a couple of drinks. Things move quickly in this book but for these two characters it's the perfect scenario I just cannot see them dragging this out. We have Roxanne she wants to be independent pay for her things not ask for help and not show her emotions and Trey who wants to help her ask for help break down show her emotions and realize she's not alone. I don't want to give away too much of the book but again I have to say I probably connected more with Roxanne and I did love how she tried to do little things behind his back like pay some of the food bill or put money back in his back in his pocket ( hehe) and I love how Trey comes off as the bad boy but also the caring sensitive white night in shinning Armor . But when Trey is in control in the bedroom holy hell look out Theres definitely a lot of swoon worthy fanning the face incidents in the bedroom. * wink wink*
***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review**** This is a book that is different out there. This is a billionaire meets down on her luck girl book but this is where the book stops being the same out there. Roxie is in college and her mom has recently died. Roxie is barely making it on the income she has to pay rent, and pay for college plus eat; then everything comes falling down around her. Roxie is not sure what she is going to do. Roxie finds she is falling apart and everything Is coming apart around her and she doesn’t know how to fix it .During this time, she meets billionaire Trey Martin and Roxie is remembering her mom’s ten rules to attract, seduce, and snare a rich husband. This book is a wonderful, terrific, full of laughs ride of how Roxie and Trey fall in love and come to realize what they mean to each other. There were some dramatic moments and there was some twists and a dramatic turn toward the end of the book featuring Roxie and her ex-boss. I have to say that Trey is such a laid back guy but when it comes to Roxie, he becomes a ALPHA male. Roxie is a terrific bundle of nerves, seductiveness, laughs, her need to be independent. . The passion between the two was terrific. What I enjoyed was the gifts that Roxie gave to Trey. This was a wonderful story and I hope the author continues writing more stories like this.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Roxanne (Roxie) Barnes is having a bad…year probably wouldn’t be long enough to describe it. When the book opens, she is wallowing and floundering and just having a crappy time of it. She’s just been tossed out of the last semester/class of school that she needs to graduate, get her degree, get a REAL job, AND she gets hassled by her current boss, a sleazy bar owner, to top off an- everything-goes-wrong-today kinda day. While tending bar, she meets “Trey”. She has an uncharacteristically one night stand and to say chaos ensues would be an understatement! I’ll be honest: Roxie needs to get her life/head together and start to deal with real life around her – she needs to engage and live in the now. It’s a great story about getting your act together and trusting yourself. I won’t give away too many details because it really was a wild ride with twists and turns. Very sexy, too. Love Trey! It’s a quick read, at least for me, and you won’t be able to put it down. I really liked it.
Roxie is a stubborn, determined woman who is having a bad day. Money troubles and a jerk for a boss are only the tip of the iceberg. When a tall sexy stranger walks into the bar where she works, she decides to have some fun. Trey is trying to escape some problems of his own and is more than happy to listen to Roxie’s troubles. Needless to say a one night stand evolves into something more, can these two learn how to help each other with their problems and move forward together? Fun, sexy and sweet read. Trey and Roxie are hot together, I will admit Roxie did annoy me a bit. I did enjoy the story and I loved the ending.
***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review**** And I also have picked it up on amazon. I really liked this book. Curvy girl Roxie has it hard paying for college by herself and working at a bar with a jerk of a manager who did and said sexist things to her. Trey happens into the bar when the manager has her on her hands and knees on the floor on broken glass while he is hosing her down. Trey takes her way.
Gotta love a Strong Alpha Male who takes care of a man who a gal who he considers the underdog and gotta love the strong girl who won't just let him take care of her either. Really really great book. I really love this author!
Great book! I love books that are normal size (not short ones), but are actually long enough to tell a good story. This one was perfect, with no cliffhangers! Both Roxie and Trey have their problems and don't want help dealing with them. They are trying to learn to accept help from the other. The romance blooms as they try to get through their struggles in life. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review and I loved it!
This is my first book by Penny Lam and I must say, I will be reading more books by this author. 10 Rules to Catch a Billionaire is an amazing story that grabs you at the cover and won't let you go until you've read the final page. The characters are awesome, the story-line flows well, and the developing romance between the main characters great. A sexy must-read
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. A great story about two souls trying to handle their own problems alone. Leaning on someone is not something Roxie wants to do but the pull to Trey is strong. They are smoking hot! I love how they handle each other and how he dominates her with just his words. It's a great read with strong characters.
Loved this healing find live story. Dealing with a slimy boss and difficult coworker, Roxie struggles with a bad job to get through school. Trey, hiding from who he is, comes into the bar. Sparks ignite and the story is on fire after that! The onslaught of bad luck only brings good. I loved the pace of the book and the characters.
DNF - I really hate it when BDSM is not listed in the Genre. I almost put the book down at Rule Three. Instead I skipped over the part I didn't want to read, and I really got interest in the story. By Rule Six I was disgusted with the plot. The billionaire Trey is mad because Roxie is humiliated by her boss, but yet it's not humiliation when he whips her with a crop and demands she gets down on her hands and knees on a cold marble floor in submission. Her boss made her get on her hands and knees to wipe up a mess he had created. What to hell is the difference?
I don't give a damn if it's your boss, or your lover no woman should be in humiliated submission. NOT my kind of love story. Sorry, just my POV.
This was given for an honest review. This is a great story. This story is very well written. She makes you want to cry with Roxie and slap Trey. The sexual tension between these two is hot. There is violence but it is more verbal than anything. The sex scenes are awesome. If you don't like bossy men in your bed than this story isn't for you.
I got this in exchange of an honest review, I loved it so much, awesome story-line, plot, characters, events and flow of everything was amazing and well written besides who doe snot love a combo of BBW and Billionaire? I mean wonderful matching and ending enjoy it darling so worth the time
I received this book for an honest review. I enjoyed this book, the main characters were likeable. It was easy reading and the book was hard to put down. This is the first book by Penny Lam that I've read and I look forward to reading her other books.
