3 - "I'm nothing special." Stars.

Finding Forever was a quick, easy read. While I in the main enjoyed it, there were several things that kept me from completely falling in love with this Christmassy tale.

Money was a fine thing to have, but it wasn’t a substitute for love.

Whitney Steele, finds herself appointed legal guardian to her young niece and nephew after their parents die just before Christmas in a horrific car accident. The story then really starts one year later, and the children and Whitney are still struggling with their grief, as well as working out a new parent/child dynamic that works for them.

He hadn’t been a very good man for a very long time.

Enter Liam Felton, brother to the children’s deceased father. Liam and his father having had no contact with him for many years are dealt a double blow in learning of his death and then of the existence of his children; Ally and Brayden. Rich meets poor, and change is afoot for Whitney as well as the children in this Disneyesque story, but will they all live happily ever after?

”One night can shape a lifetime.”

My main issue with this novella is the writing style, when words such as –

- Ravished
- Gentleman caller
- Suitor and
- Damnation

are used I expect to find myself reading historical, not modern fiction. Liam although meant to be uptight and stuffy came across as aloof and unemotional a lot of the time, and to be honest his interactions with Whitney especially when of a sexy nature, left this reader feeling a little on the chilly side.

As I said this was a quick read, which is why I stuck with it, Melody Anne is usually an author that works for me, but something with this one just fell off the mark this time.

Finding Forever is a tender and touching romance about love, loss, and life that heats your heart like fire and sings to your soul like a moving melody. Like Melody Anne's other sensational stories, Finding Forever is full of feels---happiness, sadness, angst, and and anger---but most of all, hope. Hope for that well-deserved second change. Hope that a family finds peace and prosperity after a tragedy. Hope for that much-coveted happily ever after.

Melody Anne's powerful and poignant words pierced through me and gave me warm fuzzies like the feeling of Christmas. Finding Forever is so addictive that I devoured this brilliant book and was still left hungry for more. Full of sweetness and sprinkled with sorrow, Finding Forever, like the title, is about overcoming the odds and finding and a second chance quest for love and happiness. Like a Hallmark movie, this story wraps you in a blanket of warmth and everything wonderful.

Beautiful and warm-hearted Whitney Steele's life takes a drastic turn one day when a tragedy strikes and she becomes an insta-mom to her sister's two young children. Just 25 years-old, Whitney is devastated over the loss of her sister but must stash her grief away on the back burner, pop on her brave face, and channel the strength to care for her niece and nephew who she loves dearly.

"They'd had all year to grieve. Now it was time to stop---they had to build new memories. Though it would be difficult to let go of the pain, that was exactly what they needed to do."

Tall, hot, blue-eyed, brown-haired and Liam, is sexy, arrogant, and polished. He also happens to be the children's uncle and brother to Whitney's late sister. After his late brother fled home, turned into a cold billionaire businessman going through the motions---not really living except to make his next million. Shocked and saddened when he discovers his estranged brother is dead, Liam reaches out to claim his niece and nephew so they can live with their grandfather---their late father's family---who they've never met.

"Even though Liam hadn't left, he also resented his father and now turned into the man that Frederick had once been---driven, angry, short with others, and with his heart locked away. He was unwilling to let anyone in."

While shattered over the loss of his estranged son, Liam's father is elated to learn of his two grandchildren and Whitney and them to visit him across the country for a second chance at happiness as he is now a changed man for the better.

When Whitney and Liam set sites on each other for the first time, it's insta-chemistry. The heat between them is scorching despite being thoroughly irritated by one another. The desire is so powerful that it engulfs them and they relent to the fire burning between them so hot it's flaming.

"She had no time to reach before his lips were pressed against hers. Whitney's pulse beat out of control and she could barely breathe. She involuntarily wound her arms around his neck and clung to him while his hands roamed up and down her back. She could feel his arousal---it was impressive---and her stomach flipped upside down. She couldn't get enough of his taste, scent, or touch. Trailing his lips down her neck, he ignited a fire inside her that she'd only managed to feel with this one man."

To Liam, Whitney began as a pawn in plan to move the children across the country to live with their grandfather and him, but she slowly is becoming more than an attraction. His walls around his heart are crumbling down due to his angel, Whitney.

"He was falling for this woman, but the difficulties surrounding their situation seemed insurmountable."

Liam may frighten most people with his act of arrogance and intimidation, but Whitney is not intimated by him. While Whitney's insides ignite with desire based on a look, touch, or taste by Liam, she must stay focused on protecting the children. After overhearing a heartbreaking secret, Whitney has no choice but to leave her niece and nephew behind with their new family. Burned and broken, she realizes that she was never part of the equation at all.

"How could she have been so wrong for him? She should have realized, though, that someone like him didn't fall for girls of her social class. Her lack of class. That happened only in her romance books, not in real life."

Now, it's up to Liam to convince Whitney that his motives have changed for the best before he loses her forever. Whitney changed him and melted the ice off of his heart, making him a better man. Liam has to make Whitney see that she is his happily ever after---the Prince Charming to her Cinderella.

Finding Forever is by Melody Anne. This is a cute little romance which as I started the book, I thought I had read before. However, I soon realized that I had seen the movie of this book on television or one very similar. I thought the book was really good and conveyed all the emotions and feelings one might have in these circumstances.
Whitney Steele got the most horrible news of her life when the police officer woke her up and told her that her sister and her husband had been killed in a traffic accident. Whitney was now left alone as Maxine had been her only relative left. However, she quickly remembered the children. Maxine and Vince had two lovely children, Braydon and Ally. She drove over to their house to be there in the morning when the children woke up to give them the bad news. In their will, Maxine and Vince had wanted Whitney to raise the children. She set out to do the best she could.
A year later, Frederick Felton received a letter from his son’s attorney advising him of his marriage and his having two children. The letter was sent a year after Vince’s death to lessen the chances of his contesting Vince’s will. However, he did want his Father and brother, Liam to know of their existence. Frederick and Liam wanted to meet the children and also felt they would be better off with them than with Whitney so Liam set his lawyers to the task of getting the children. They invited Whitney and the children to their home in New York so they could get to know them. They then hoped they would be staying.
What would Whitney think if she knew what they planned? She had her suspicions; but what if they were wrong? What would happen over Christmas Break? Would they fly back to Oregon or stay in New York?

First let me start off by saying that Melody Anne is one of my favorite authors ever. I LOVED all her Billionaire books. Like really, really love them so when I saw this one I was super excited to read it. Now, I want to also say that this book was not bad by any means. I started reading it and kept thinking man this sounds familiar. The storyline seemed so familiar to me and then it hit me. I watched a tv movie over the holidays last year that is so similar to this book. The main character on the movie gained custody of her niece and nephew because their parents died in a tragic accident and they are basically royalty. The kids and their aunt go there for Christmas and many scenes are scenes I have seen in the movie. However, the movie on tv was very PG rated and this book was much more for adults. This review is in no way an attack on the author. I want to make that perfectly clear. I love this author! I own all of her Billionaire books and have read them all multiple times. This book just didn't hit a homerun for me. I will always one click Melody's books and will enjoy reading all her books at least once and many of them lots and lots of times. I give this a 3.5 star rating. A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review.

I apologise for this turned into more of a comparison than a review. When I started reading this book I thought I read it somewhere before but it turns out I've seen it! It's a movie called 'A Christmas Princess' starring Katie McGrath but of course that's a kids movie and well this is obviously an 'adult version' of the story. The amount of similarities of that movie to this book! From the point where the children's parents were in a terrible accident to the main female not wanting the maid to unpack her stuff after finding some romance books (maid even mentioned the place has a library!) to the main male character playing the violin! I even felt the house workers were based the same way. Coincidence?

I can definitely tell you that I prefer the book over the movie whether if there was a link to them or it was just plain luck that they are very similar. I felt the book was a little bit more 'realistic' and depth and what I would have wanted to happen that didn't happen in the movie.

‘Finding Forever,’ was an incredibly heartbreaking read. After the loss of their parents, Brayden, Ally, and their auntie Whitney struggle to overcome their grief and heartbreak; and to adjust to their new lives. As the year anniversary approaches, their wounds reopen and they find themselves meeting new wealthy family members no one new they had. Whitney fears they’ll try and take the kids away, but cannot find it within her heart, to deny the kids meeting and knowing more family.

I like this authors books on the whole.
Sad to start but otherwise went pretty much as expected.
The children dealt with the loss of their parents differently, one with anger, the younger one with sad acceptance.
Liam really is a snotty snob to start. Whitney was likeable and doing the best she could.
Some silly errors which annoyed me. Week instead of weak.
Book finishes at 83%.

Enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book. Loved how much Whitney loved her niece and nephew. But when Liam asks them to come visit him and the kid’s Grandfather, will the kids be better off staying with them? It’s a very heartwarming story, with their Uncle Liam falling for them and even for Whitney. I highly recommend this book.

Liam changes

This story reminds me of a hallmark movie I watched. The story is extremely similar minus the note being received a year after the death of the couple. It's a cute happily ever after story.

*I received an ARC of this book for an honest review*....and I honestly LOVED it!

Finding Forever is a story that starts off in a very heartbreaking way. After learning her sister & brother-in-law are killed in a car accident, Whitney’s life is turned upside down. She jumps into the role of Aunt/caregiver for Ally and Brayden, her niece and nephew, and tries to cope with the loss of her sister while trying to help them adjust to the loss of their parents. Over the first year she struggles, as anyone would, and keeps on going knowing that she is doing what is best for the children. Just as Christmas approaches a year after the tragedy, a knock comes at her door step that will turn her and the children’s world around again. She is taken aback to find out the children have other family when Liam, her brother-in-law’s brother shows up out of the blue. He asks her and the children to come back to New York with him to spend the Holidays and also wants the children to meet their grandfather. Whitney decides to pack the kids up and give them a chance at getting to know their Uncle and Grandfather they never knew they had. When she gets there Whitney gets swept away in the lifestyle the two live and starts to fall for Liam. He is an arrogant, wealthy playboy and she is attracted to him against her better judgment. Can she trust this man she just met to not take the children away from her? She knows they might live a better life than she could provide if they were around this wealth, but is that really what is best for them and for her? This book was something I couldn’t put down! I read it in 2 sittings and loved the whole story. You truly get to see how a family can come together in times of tragedy and how they adapt when family they never knew they had appears. You see characters in this story grow and the character development in Liam just stunned me. What a great soul clenching tale.

3.5 / 5 stars

This story had a ton of potential for me, but I had a hard time getting past much of the dialogue -- many of Liam and Frederick's earlier conversations were almost... pretentious. It was no wonder Vince separated himself from his family, asking for them to not be notified in the event of his and his wife's deaths a year after the custody of their children was settled and with his sister-in-law. It was quite apparent that the better caregiver would be Whitney.

The ins and outs of Whit and Liam's relationship was an enjoyable one to read. I liked the interaction with the kids and felt that Brayden's characterization was very age appropriate, but at times felt that Ally's seven was more of a late seven if not mid- to late-eight years. Aside from the semi-appropriate grieving process for the children, I felt that Whitney's own grieving had been stunted -- she didn't have the proper time to mourn the loss of her sister before being thrown into caretaker role, and I don't know that it was properly executed in the story, either.

My favorite part of the book was the end -- I know that sounds snarky but honestly, I'm an epilogue gal and while the book simply went along the paces for me throughout the chapters, I loved the normalcy and sense of family that finally, fully occurred with Whit, Liam, Frederick, and the children.

The prologue was gripping and the epilogue was a sweet cherry to top the cake; it was just points in the middle that while a good contemporary, didn't get past 'good' for me.

Liam and Whitney's brother and sister where married and they lost them in a tragic accident. Vincent, Liam's brother, never let his family know that he got married and that he had two kids.

In their will Vincent and his wife established that Whitney was to take care of the kids if something happened to the both of them. A year after their death Vincent left a communication letting his family know what had happened with him on the 10 years he was away from them.

Vincent's family is from NY and very influential and come from money, they find Whitney and the kids, and want them to spend Christmas with them. Whitney is afraid they will try to get the kids from her. She is frustrated because the oldest is too sad and doesn't even want to talk to her at times.

Will Liam and Whitney and the kids be able to heal each other wounds caused by the loss of Vincent and his wife?

This story is amazing and the cat and mouse game between Liam and Whitney is endearing and seeing how this characters change during the course of the book is amazing. Is another book spectacularly written by Melody Anne. The kids characters are one of the best and strongest I have read in a book, because they are part of the core of the story, I love that they don't get forgotten or lost in it, they built part of it. Is a 5 star for me.

Finding Forever very touching romance that you get to feel the love, loss, and life. Finding forever you will feel so many emotions in one book happiness, sadness, angst, and anger, and hope for them all. You see a family finds peace and prosperity after a tragedy of Vincent and his wife death. We Hope that children will see a happily ever after. Will Liam and Whitney with the help of the kids be able to heal each other wounds caused by the loss of Vincent and his wife? Love the twist that comes with Whitney feeling towards Liam and how hard they fight it. The core of the story is kids that has come across the strongest.
