Novel suggested by one of the EG Library workers.

What a daunting task this group of men partook of - creating the Constitution of the United States! I learned so much and Im sure if I was to reread this book I would learn more.

After only ten years of independence from England each of the 13 states had their own strengths and great weaknesses. They each knew they need a Federal Govt to oversee the states United - to assist them with their problems, money, war debt, commerce, westward expansion.
Many conflicts existed - large vs small states, southern vs northern states (Slavery), Federalist vs non
To work through all, to discuss, argue, listen, consider and ultimately develop with all its checks and balances - the Constitution of the United States of America. A republic. Amazing!

After the Presidential election of 2016 - Clinton won the popular vote and Trump won the Electoral vote, and therefore won the Presidency. So many people dont understand how this could happen. Our govt is not set up like other countries. The Constitution, as these men and the states they represented in summer of 1787 held fast!
The power is at the state level, and the men/states did not want the large states controlling all - we are a republic. Its what the men fought for during the Revolutionary war - and its how the Convention was created to develop the Constitution - and it was fought for in the organization of the United States Federal govt.

We owe these men Thanks for our country today.
