I read this when it first was released in the US many years ago, and despite loving it, I was only ever able to get the first three volumes. Now I have them all, and I'm currently bed-ridden and I decided to read through them all - rather than do schoolwork.

OH THE ANGST!! I love Reiji and Naoya. Again, taking it slow, but so much depth in these characters and their story. I love how everything about Naoya's past is coming out. This really is a great addition to the series. And it was fun seeing Naoya and Izumi meet.

I also have to add, the last story, which has nothing to do with Love Mode, was heart breaking. I cried through that, too. I think the art is getting better, too. That or I'm getting used to the style and enjoying it even more.

Love Mode has all the standard issues, but because of its age and place in the canon, i tend to make allowances. (that said, i seem to remember it gets really weird a few books in - maybe around 7 or 8?) i'm not a huge fan of age-gap romance but it's hard to get away from in this kind of thing. on the other hand, i like the way she draws her older characters and the sly touches of comedy. and it's genuinely romantic.

This volume sees us back with Naoya & Aoe for what is a dark story. We find out more about why Naoya's parents died. Their relationship stays pretty innocent. I seem to remember this manga having loads of sex scenes but it hardly has any.

Talking of sex scenes, thank you Yuki for including the bonus story 'Four Men'!, which is the reason I gave this book full stars! My favourite couple get a large chunk of the book dedicated to them, more of this please!

This volume was good, centers again around Naoya and Reiji. I like the character development for Aoe and how it is occurring slowly and the other characters notice and mock him for it. Also this volume is darker than than the previous ones because it continues to explore Naoya's backstory (poor kid can't catch a break).

I love these series. The type of series where it stays with you forever. A lot of drama, love, a bit of comedy here and there, a slice of life and everything in between. Always a delight to go back to it and re-read it again.

The art looks clumsy by current standards, and I've never liked any of the Izumi/Takamiya storyline, but there's something about Reiji and Naoya that still gets me. Ah, nostalgia. (Wtfffffff is up with the standalone bonus story in this volume though.)

Naoya’s life is finally becoming more settled. He is back in school, working part-time, and living with Reiji, who is determined to teach the young man basic civilities. Reiji’s doctor brother, Kiichi, organizes a dinner with Naoya’s guardian, Kajiwara. The idea is to show him how well Naoya is doing, and to persuade him to allow Naoya to remain in Reiji’s household. A chance meeting with the man who took over Naoya’s father’s company, Aizawa, leads to hard feelings when the man displays his true colors in front of a businessman he is trying to impress. Unfortunately for Aizawa, the man is a friend of Reiji and Kiichi and is appalled with Aizawa, saying he will not do business with him. Afterward, in private, a shocking revelation is made.

Naoya has a bad dream that night, one he’s had before, about the accident that took the lives of his family. Reiji comforts him. After work the next day, Naoya runs into Kajiwara, who invites him back to his home. Naoya wants to know why he is against his staying with Aoe, and Kajiwara reveals all. Afterward, Reiji find Naoya in a horrible state, and cares for him. Together, Reiji and Kiichi confront Kajiwara and finally lay certain demons to rest.

Bonus story: Takamiya is not shy about telling Izumi that he loves him, but so far, Izumi has never reciprocated those words. Takamiya proposes they get together in two days and have a date playing billiards. Why that paticular day? It’s a special anniversary for them! Thanks to a chance encounter, they end up spending time with Reiji and Naoya, like a double date! Izumi is incredulous that anyone could live with grumpy old Reiji, but Naoya defends him as a good man. Meanwhile, Takamiya is needling Reiji for bringing home a stray when he supposedly hates cats. Izumi, tired of Reiji’s patronizing attitude, begs Takamiya to play a game of pool with him and clean his clock for him. He promises that if he does that, Takamiya can have anything he wants from Izumi. Yes, anything! Challenge on!

In a second bonus story, a young man is living with a foster family for certain reasons, and he realizes he cares about his foster brother a little too much. A sinister man seems to be stalking him, but can he save him?

Naoya’s past is out in the open now, and the truth has finally been revealed. Now he can let go of the ghosts that haunted him and move on with his life, whatever that may bring. Will his relationship with Reiji heat up? Does he want it to? Only time will tell. I enjoyed the bonus story very much. I think Izumi and Takamiya are a cute couple! The second bonus story was more bittersweet than sweet. Another great volume, looking forward to the next one!

Reiji and Naoya finally do it! Hurray! Well they do something, anyway. I love how Naoya passes on Reiji's teachings to Wataru. And the feeling when Reiji and Naoya are reunited is exquisite.

Meine Meinung:

Meine Wertung:
5 von 5 Sternen

I read this so many years ago, something like 2007. I cried for hours with this one. I can't even explain how much I loved it then and how much I'm still loving this manga nowadays, especially this couple. Naoya is one of my favorite manga characters ever.

Continuation of Naoya and Reiji's story. Naoya's past is getting revealed and their relationship is getting stronger. I really love these two.

Much darker this story with Naoya finding the truth about his families death. And my heart jumps for joy with the Takamiya and Izumi double date with Reiji and Naoya. I love this age-gap series!
