This man who both fascinated and frightened her made her more aware of herself than she'd ever been.

I have been a huge fan of Christy Reece since first discovering her LCR series years ago. I binged on those books and never wanted to end. This is my first book by her in the new LCR spin-off series, LCR Elite, and I can't say that I ever felt lost or confused not having read the previous book in this series. I did, however, read every single one of her LCR ones. I got a little nostalgic seeing some of my favorite characters making an appearance here, like Gabe Maddox and Skylar from No Chance and of course the head of LCR, Noah McCall. If you haven't read that series yet, I highly recommend you do.

While I enjoyed Chance Encounter, it also failed to grab me like the other books by this author had. For a romantic suspense, it was pretty slow-paced and mostly uneventful. While there was the mystery behind who was after the heroine, not much was really happening on that front until practically the very end. A good chunk of the book is focused on the developing of feelings between Kacie and Brennan.

Brennan Sinclair was a character I really loved. But then again, I always do seem to love the broken ones, and Brenna's history is an absolutely heart-breaking one. I appreciated that there was no insta-love here even though both characters had an undeniable chemistry from the very beginning. I also really appreciate the way that the author handled Kacie's character. This was a woman that went through hell at the hands of a monster five years ago, and the lingering effects of her experience haunt her to this day. There was no instant healing with the hero's penis (oh you know exactly what I mean). It was written in a very realistic matter that allowed you to truly connect to the heroine and what she's feeling. It may have been a slow burn towards Kacie and Brennan finally being together, but once they did, the fireworks definitely flew.
Kacie?"
"Yes?"
"Who's inside you?"
She smiled dreamily. "Brennan Sinclair."
"Who's going to make you come again so hard that your eyes will cross?"

This was a solid four star read for me up until that last twist at the end. It was just so OTT that I found myself losing interest in the story. It served as the catalyst for Brennan finally getting his head out of his ass, but it was still mostly eye-roll inducing.

If you're looking for an action packed romantic suspense, this is not it. It's a slow burn and a bit on the fluffy side. In all fairness it was probably my least favorite book by this author. But considering her previous books were mostly 5 stars for me, that's not exactly an insult. I'm just saying it was a little too fluffy and slow for me. That being said, I'm still looking forward to the next installment and will gladly continue with this series.

Chance Encounter is a consider a light romantic suspense and there is enough page time dedicated to build up the romance between the H/h. Too often when it comes to romantic suspense book, the couple was thrown together in a whirlwind of action/drama and they sorta hooked up due to the adrenaline. So I can appreciate how the author let the characters experience a slower build up of connection.

Kacie Dane is the star model who had it all. But only few knew her tainted past. Five years ago, Kacie was a victim of a kidnapping, tortured and raped. She did all she could to bury her past, but now someone out there is determine to unearth it.

Brennan Sinclair used to be the star footballer until a tragedy befall his family and he was painted as a villain by the media. In order to avoid the public eyes, Brennan build a new life for himself by joining the LCR Elite Team.

The beginning of the book really creep me out because I totally had no idea of is the villain at all. The original perpetrator who kidnap Kacie years ago was supposedly dead. So why did all of the sudden, Kacie is receiving this creepy message and hearing weird sound in her head?

Brennan first assignment after being transfer to LCR is to guard Kacie while acting as her stand-in boyfriend. The last thing Brennan need is to be under the spotlight again, but he is professional enough to take things in stride.

The thing with Brennan and Kacie is that they are both such nice and genuine person at heart. Kacie is one of those understanding heroine who know how to accept help and listen to advice. As for Brennan, after learning what she endured, which man wouldn't be all protective of her. Having these two admirable characters together is simply too sweet. I actually wish they would do something to piss each other off just to see how they react.

Of course, they do have their own set of problem. The major challenge is with Kacie's intimacy issue. Poor girl didn't feel sexually interested in men after her ordeal. Then is up to Brennan to help her break down all these walls. Meanwhile, Brennan can't really see a future with a famous model by his side. How will they make it work?

As for the suspense department, apart from receiving these creepy warning and being there with Kacie, Brennan was not involved much in the investigative work, much to my disappointment. The middle portion of the book was a bit on a slow side and focusing more on the budding romance between these two.

However, Christy did manage to end the book in a high note. I was engrossed with the later portion of the book when the deranged villain finally make the appearance and there are few twist thrown at me, which totally caught me off guard.

Overall, I really enjoyed the last 30% of the book. I wish there is more action in the middle part of the book, which will make it more engaging.

Christy Reece is quite a new to me author. I’ve read the first book in her LCR series a few months ago and liked it. I enjoy romantic suspense and her LCR series has been recommended to me more than once. This one in my opinion, just lacked a little in the action department to please me all the way.

Kacie Dane, supermodel and America’ sweetheart has a hidden and difficult past. Someone is set on making her new life hell and reveal her tainted history.

Five years ago she was abducted by a maniac and sociopath who drugged and raped her repeatedly. She came a long way reconstructing herself and making her new life a safe haven. She is still skittish about dating men and lives like a recluse when she is not working.

Reaparrances of proofs from her previous abduction are about to break her again…

Fortunately, Kacie stayed close to Noah McCall, head of LCR , who decides to set her up with a bodyguard / fake boyfriend until they can identify and neutralize the threat.

Freshly recruited by LCR, Brennan Sinclair is the lucky guy who’s picked to play Kacie’s fake boyfriend and bodyguard. He retired from a successful football career after the tragic events that cost him both his son and wife’s lives. He is still portrayed as the villain and sole responsible by the media to that day.

I liked the beginning of the book, the set up really called for all my attention as I was suspecting everyone, even Kacie, lol. The idea to set her up with a bodyguard acting as fake boyfriend to not gain anyone’s attention was great and held promise of a future romance between this fragile young woman and a broken hero.

Despite a good plot and a great start, I lost focus around 30% in. The investigation about the bad guys took forever to lead somewhere, it dragged a little. The romance part was slow, as expected, regarding Kacie’s past with sexual encounters. I was glad that the author gave some time to the heroine to manage and go past her barriers and issues regarding such an heavy subject. I appreciated Brennan complete comprehension about it.

That being said, I never felt the chemistry that was told to me in the book. Yes the author showed some moments of intimacy and mostly Brennan consoling Kacie… But for me it missed something and I’m not sure what. Maybe some action? Brennan involved in Kacie’s security did not make for a lot of actions and bravado demonstrations from his part.

There’s was a great kick in around 70% but follow up was strangely OTT and suddenly unbelievable. Thus far, all seemed very realistic and I didn’t understand the change of turns the author made. It completely disconnected me from the feelings I had throughout the book and this lead me to a 3 stars rating, which is not bad in my book.

I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

**FULL REVIEW IS NOW POSTED**

Christy Reece writes everything I crave in Romantic Suspense and then some! Her second book in the LCR Elite series is deeply steeped in vengeance and masterfully keeps a step ahead of readers in a twisty, sexy thrill ride that delivers a page-turner full of intrigue and romance.

I love how this author keeps those last few puzzle pieces just out of reach. The villain, culprits, and bad guys all stay hidden so well. I wasn’t able to put the whole puzzle together and completely figure it out until the final unveiling which is a major plus for me as a reader in a five-star romantic suspense. First, the Prologue was cleverly written. I was thinking one way and it went in the opposite direction. As the story deepens and a number of possibilities begin to present themselves, well it was anybody’s guess at that point. At one time or another, I was accusing each and every character that came anywhere near Kacie. And then I even started to question if I believed in reincarnation.

And at the end, I was like . . . WHAAAT? Yeah, I was shocked and completely taken by surprise. There were several really well-written dimensions to the game of hide and seek. I thought the clues and possible suspects were portrayed in a realistic and believable manner. Well-played, Christy Reece!

Brennan, LCR Elite’s newest operative is assigned as a bodyguard to Kacie, a successful model. Kacie has been receiving threats and appears to be the victim of a stalker. Both Brennan and Kacie are wonderfully appealing and unforgettable characters. They are both among those classified as “beautiful” people. But their lives haven’t always been beautiful to behold. Both have been wounded by some really tough times and experienced firsthand horrendous life changing events. Each was tentative when it came to new relationships. Time together and the circumstances surrounding them began to melt the ice around their hearts as they became attuned to and understood the other’s needs for compassion and support. Brennan treated Kacie tenderly when called for, guided her with firmness when she needed prompting, and definitely showed her that loving someone was a beautiful experience – nothing like the ugliness that she had endured. Kacie was likewise understanding and in relating to Brennan’s emotional needs as well. His losses were great and the press had not been kind to him. Ya might say these two were a match made in heaven!

I'm a reader who loves the slow-build with all those little details that make a story interesting -- none of that fast-scanning – but must-read-each-and-every-word of the storyline. I don't want some easy light-read. They are a dime a dozen and frequently just become a waste of money. I want real substance and challenge -- and Reece gives it in spades. The romance and suspense is well-balanced each and every time. The scenes are written with emotional meaning and beauty. Brennan and Kacie don't jump into bed right out of the gate, although there is certainly plenty of steamy chemistry that makes it all well-worth the wait. Frankly, I only mention this because there are some readers who always seem to require the hot and heavy scenes every other page or so. This storyline, however, guides the temperature and the need for a slow dance between these two scarred and broken characters.

I can never ever get enough romantic suspense, and it seems to be getting harder and harder to find one that hits the bull’s-eye. Christy Reece’s books are always a perfect score. And Chance Encounter is no exception – I loved this book from start to finish, and it definitely wins a spot on my “favorites” list.

This couple was one that I wasn't sure I would love, but I should know when it comes to a CR character, I will always love them. Kacie was just so genuine and Brennan was so lost and wounded. I don’t feel like their love story was rushed, even though they were together for only a short time before things escalated, I thought it was written beautifully and believable, and as I have said over and over, no one can write a villain like Mrs. Reece. How she dreams them up...not sure I want to know. I love how Kacie was so strong while still being vulnerable at the same time. I always like when other LCR operatives pop up in new stories, so seeing some of the oldies was a treat for me. Angela doing her computer thing, honestly made me grin. That girl is a wiz and I love her. This series just keeps getting better and better, I can't wait for more.

Christy Reece has been an auto-buy for me for years. I loved Chance Encounter! I was happy to see that Kendra, now Kacie from No Chance was getting her happily ever after. I was happy to see Kacie has grown into an incredibly strong young woman.

I loved Brennan and Kacie together. They have both been through so much and are survivors. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop.

I always love when we get to check in with other members of the LCR gang, Skylar and Gabe are one of my fave couples and seeing what they are up to now was a nice treat.

I always try to guess who the villain will be, but Ms. Reece shocked me with this one. Man does she know how to write an evil person!

I really, really enjoyed this book. As I have stated before I love reading a book with a damaged character that get his/her happy ending.

This had the distinction of having 2 damaged characters come together in scary circumstances. Their growth together and as individual's had me cheering at times, on the edge of my seat at times and sighing out loud.

Christy Reece is an awesome voice in the romantic suspense genre. If you have not read her...it's a MUST that you do. I'm looking forward to my next visit into her imagination. I'm never disappointed.

3.5 Stars. Well written, as is any book by Reece; but there was something missing. This was a kindler, gentler Last Chance Rescue, almost fluffy RS. LCR and a stalker theme just doesn't go together; we're used to them handling badass cases. That plus a story that fell apart towards the end in a mess that would make a soap opera proud, and this is a bit of a misfire for the usually excellent Reece.

Always a 5 star read in my opinion! Every Christy Reece book I've read and this one is no different! All her Last Chance Rescue books and now the "LCR Elite" books are fantastic, page turning must reads:) I won this book on an FB online event, but have bought most of her books over the years & she will stay in my favorite author file, forever. So if you love contemporary romantic suspense like I do, grab all of her books and of course, reading them in order is always best :D Can't wait for the next new book!

Reading about Kacie and Brennan made me feel...nothing really. It was just a book that didn't affect me in any way pretty much because I didn't care about either of them. I initially liked Kacie and Brennan for a small portion of the book until he made a habit of rejecting her, pushing her away, and couldn't decide if he wanted her enough or not. Then on her part, she took every rejection, every refusal to allow himself to love her, every confusing signal he sent her way and took it. She allowed herself to be taken advantage of, knowing he had no plans of being in her life after the job was done, let him use her as he pleased and embarrassingly flat out told him she'd take him back at any point if he decided he wanted her. I don't care if you're the sweetest person who attends church every Sunday. No woman who has self-respect would let a man treat her that way and be able to maintain a classy facade of smiling to his face in understanding, after he's told her he doesn't love her enough to stay and give them a chance. You're either fuming and bitter or crying your heart out in pain and resigned to the outcome before you send him on his way with the parting words to never come back or try to contact you. This just made me lose all respect for both of them, but especially Kacie.

After some time, I pretty much just stopped caring about them as a couple altogether. He hurt her but she showed him it was ok by never taking a stand. It took her getting kidnapped and almost killed for him to open his eyes and fight for her. He didn't even have to work for her, didn't even ask for forgiveness, because he knew she'd take him back, no problem, and she did. I didn't even feel anything special between them, their whole coming together was kind of boring. They didn't make me feel a need to see them get their happy ending. I was kind of over it halfway, with the way that he didn't fight for her until he realized her life was in actual grave danger and the way that she let him get away with treating her as disposable and easy to manipulate at his convenience.

This author's strength clearly lies with building suspense and action scenes. How she dealt with Kacie's fear of being with another man was decent and I liked that she still showed some effects of how much she was still traumatized about what happened to her. Romance, however, is just not her specialty, at least for me and from what I've read of her so far. It needs a lot of work and she needs a wake up call that heroines are allowed to fight back. They can most definitely be assertive without being portrayed as a mean witch, they can be strong and stand up for themselves to be treated right without losing their femininity, they can be more than a meek, blubbering, pushover without coming off as a dislikable heroine because she doesn't follow the classic formula of what older readers grew up with.

This is the third book I've read by this author but I'm going to push on and get through the rest of this series on the off chance that there is something of hers that I'll like. This book will not be a reread for me though for obvious reasons and I truly do hope that she can prove me wrong in the future.

‘Chance Encounter’ can be deadly enough to break a soul. ‘Chance Encounter’ can be a balm in the night of deadly shadows and a ‘Chance Encounter’ can be the very epitome of love that endures to fight for their destiny.

The LCR Elite has a new member in the savvy and fallen quarterback Brennan Sinclair. With a past that refuses to fade and a guilt that seems to eat him from the inside, his first mission with the LCR Elite lands him under the roof of the beautiful and wholesome Kacie Dane.

Another fallen angel to the evil of the world, enduring the naked scars of pain, Kacie Dane always has a smile for the world. Embracing her profession as a model, pouring her inner pain into Kacie Dane Foundation, she channels her nightmares into strength and courage, giving back to the world in her very small means.

But when her torturous past threatens her life, Brennan steps in with his support and empathy, love and security, and the entire LCR family weaves a shield of protection. And that very shield stokes the embers of lust and passion, and the need for companionship brings Brennan and Kacie into the folds of love.

“Chance Encounter” gives us a chance to know two wonderful characters with so much strength and courage makes us tear for their pain and loss. Two good people, who got the wrong end of the deal, yet fate throws them into the hands of destiny, smile with each other and pass those very smiles around. Christy does a stupendous job of portraying their inner demons, feelings and thoughts, that you cannot but help laugh and cry along with them.

What I love about Christy Reece is her amazing creativity of characters, so broken yet redeemable. She can write adrenaline and heart racing romantic suspense and thrillers and on the other end of the spectrum is her sublime romance and immense depth of feelings. All her stories may not have to be bloody and pure evil to send the message across. Evil and love can romance at a sublime level in her stories and she does a brilliant job of narrating them.

This is one of her very best of best works that I will revisit several times and Kacie and Brennan will take a very close second to my favorites McKenna and Luke (Last Chance).

I love Christy Reece's books! I have never read one where she didn't keep me involved for the entire book. This is definitely true for Chance Encounter. Christy is a romantic suspense writer through and through. This book grabbed me from the first page and never let me go until the last page.

Kacie Dane is a model that is known for her "girl next door" looks. What no one realizes is that five years ago Kacie endured a horrible tragedy where she barely survived. She has since changed her name and told no one what happened. Unfortunately, through a series of events that refer back to this tragedy, Kacie believes that someone knows and is planning to use it to destroy her career.

Brennon Sinclair was "the golden boy of the NFL" until his son was kidnapped and eventually killed and his wife died soon after. He has just joined the Elite Team and is given the job of guarding Kacie.

This is a wonderful story with lots of twists and turns throughout the book. Ms. Reece keeps gives us clues throughout the story, but many of them send the couple and the readers in the wrong direction. This story and its plot flows so well that I often forgot I was reading a fiction book.

Brennon and Kacie both have been through terrible situations, but both are survivors. These characters are very complex and react to every situation they encounter in different ways just as real-life people do.

We also get to visit with old characters such as Noah and Skylar who make friends with the couple as they try to help them through the nastiness that they meet throughout the book. Although these characters were in other books, you don't have to have read Ms. Reece's other books to understand this book. However, it certainly enriches the story when you know who they are.

I highly recommend this book. Ms. Reece is a talented writer who makes her stories come alive for the readers. There is always lots of action, romance, sex and even plenty of bad guys and girls to hate along the end. After you read this book, I highly recommend that you read ALL of this author's other books. You will not be sorry!

I loved that Ms Reece brought back a character from a previous book to give her story closure. Now of course she put her and her LCR protector through hell before that but that makes a great suspense.

For those that don’t know, Kendra Carson/Kacie Dane story began in No Chance (Last Chance Rescue #4). She was Skylar’s model friend who was kidnapped and drugged and raped repeatedly by Skylar’s sick and perverted uncle.

Now five years later she has changed her name and appearance and is working her way up in the modeling industry again. She still suffers from nightmares but refuses to let what happened to her in the past define her. That is until she starts getting creepy messages from a man she knows to be dead.

Brennan Sinclair is new to the LCR Elite team and his first assignment is to be Kacie’s bodyguard. Brennan past was a horribly sad and tragic and has left some pretty deep scars. Kacie and Brennan are like two sides of a coin – they both had traumatic past but Kacie still choose to see the good in people and life where as Brennan was very cynical and trusted very few. Neither had even thought about getting involved with anyone since their tragedies but their sorrow seems to bind them during their time together.

As the book went along with the LCR team trying to find out who was harassing Kacie by sending her sick reminders of her time in captivity your page turning wondering who is going to be the person behind it and why. Ms Reece as always has a twisted mind and the revelations are shocking.

I’m so glad she is continuing this series and even bringing back past characters we’ve met. It’s always a joy to get to see the past LCR characters and I look forward to many more books in this series.

So glad i bought this Elite Series!

Brennan and Kacie story, like the previous four, was intense, action , and all the great superlatives I have already used for this author!
However, this fifth and hopefully not last, book of the series was truly a pleasure to read!
There's a saying, (excuse me I tend to butcher cliches), ... lightening doesn't stike twice ... yes, it does statistically! Kacie learned this first hand, but with Brennan's own tormented background, two people were simply going to save one another!
He growth of these two characters, Ms Reece was amazing!
Without taking away or telling you the entire book, allow me to say it was worth the wait!

Truly a must read, frankly the entire LCR, and LCR Elite (thus far 😁) are absolutely awesome romantic suspense books worth every penny!
So, ask for Amazon Gift cards, you'll want them after reading the first LCR, or LCR Elite book! While it helps to read the LVR series first, it really is okay to read the Elite series first and then the LCR series! But, you'll definitely want to read after your first! All can be read as stand alone, but where is the fun in that! I read in order, and you will find you enjoy doing it that way, if like me you already get too much background about a book in one of the others from the series!
Bottom line, worth the time and money, for true escapism by an awesome author!!

Loved!

Christy Reece consistently delivers emotion, suspense, and fantastic reading. This was, in my opinion, not the normal full-out action, intense packed LCR novel that I’ve come to know, but a sweeter story with a lot of tender romance. I loved it. The action did come, but it was later in the novel. Kacie’s character is pure sweetness with growing confidence while still working on her recovery from evil events five years ago. Brennan is full of self-contempt; a victim of his own demons. He was unjustly judged and never fought to redeem himself because he just didn’t care enough. He shows Kacie his gentleness, makes her feel treasured, makes her feel again, and gives her strength to get through everything being thrown at her. He feels, however, that he will taint her reputation by being around her. She is a model known worldwide with more greatness in store. He is a hated former football celebrity with an ax to grind with the press. They just wouldn’t work. But their chemistry is undeniable and they can’t fight it. Again, Ms. Reece threw me in different directions on the villain. I didn’t even get close on guessing the right one, never had the villain on my radar. What a specular ending. A wonderful addition to the LCR Elite series.

We are back in the world of LCR Elite with this new book. We met Kacie (Kendra) in No Chance (Sky and Gabe's book) when she was kidnapped.

Kendra has reinvented herself as Kacie and is taking the modelling world by storm, Brennan is a former football player who for reasons of his own wants to stay out of the limelight, and sees working for LCR Elite as a way to do just that. Unfortunately when he is put together with Kacie on an assignment, the limelight is what he gets

Kacie and Brennan are both survivors, and as usual, they haven't been spared any of the horrors of life, and when Kacie's past comes back to haunt her, it's a non stop emotional roller coaster ride for both the characters and readers.

Ms. Reece keeps you guessing right to the end, and just when you think everything is all worked out along comes a twist to muck things up.

This is a great addition to the series, and it was great to see old friends making a comeback.

Brennan and Kacie's story is awesome!

Kacie Dane was kidnapped and survived. Her past has come back to haunt her.
Brennan Sinclair's young son was kidnapped, but died at the hands of his kidnapper. He is now a trained rescuer.
Brennan's first job with LCR Elite is to pose as Kacie's boyfriend in order to protect her while they find the person responsible for her latest scare. As they live and work together to find answers, they find a love they never expected!
Once again, Christy Reece delivers a story that you won't want to put down until you reach the end, but also yearning for more!

Ireally loved Kacie and Brennan's story. They both have gone through really awful life altering changes in their lives and they were still able to grow. It was good for them to be together since they were able to help each other really overcome their pasts and find true happiness together. The story line will keep you wanting to keep reading. It was hard to put this book down. It is a definite must read.

In a word....fantastic! This story was one that I didn't want to end at all. In Kacie you have a heroine who is so strong, so brave and yet so traumatized by her past. In Brennan you have a sad, stubborn man who has been through so much, it's hard to move on from that. These are two of my favorite characters, ever. I grew so attached to them that I literally felt what they felt. Christy Reece does it again. Another fantastic read!

Almost three stars but I just love the heroine too much! Again, I didn't like the H =( what happened to him was horrible but he just wasn't my type of H. I did like them together though, they really helped each other. She taught him that you can still live and be happy after evil touches your life and he gave her strength and confidence.
She survived being kidnapped, drugged, beat, starved, and raped repeatedly. These books can be pretty depressing so be warned. However she didn't let this define her it let her change for the better. She didn't like who she was before so she changed. Now that she has her career exactly where she wants it someone is out to destroy all that she has fought for. The H is her bodyguard and I can see why he was attracted to her. But he was a little to much of a brute for me to get why she liked him. This deals a lot with intimacy after being a rape victim and I do like how he treated her. However, he kept acting like his feelings for her weren't more than sexual and were never going to happen. I understand it, but it was annoying. In the end they do get the enemy and a life of love.

SPOILERS:

The enemy was Molly, who runs her charity. Turns out she is a VERY disturbed daughter of the monster who kidnapped the h. She also brought in a disturbed friend of hers. He disguised himself as an old man who guarded the lobby of her building. The h tackled Molly before she could shoot the H. He dangled from a high story decor balcony to get to the window he needed to break. He ended up needed dozens of stitches. Molly then killed herself with a warning that it wasn't over. She asked him to stay but he told her he couldn't. He left but felt like something was wrong. By time the team gets back to New York she has already been kidnapped. The man chained her and violated her but waited to rape her. When he was done waiting she acted complaint so he unchained most of her and she broke his nose and bolted. She ended up hurting him so the H could kill him with a bullet to head. He is so thankful he got to her in time and the wasn't raped again. He does an interview he has been avoiding for year to try to make it easier for her to be dating him. She decides that she shouldn't hide and act ashamed of being a survivor and tells the world who she really is. They get engaged and profess their love.

Chance Encounter is the second book in the LCR Elite series, but really this book continues the long running Last Chance Rescue series.
Kacie Dane has made a name for herself as a wholesome, girl-next-door model while running her charity foundation for victims of abuse and neglect. All the while, she is hiding a secret that has come back to haunt her. She knows the man who held her for months is dead, but several messages saying that he is coming for her make her start to doubt what she knows to be true. Her friends at LCR immediately start an investigation and assign new recruit and former pro football star, Brennan Sinclair to be Kacie's bodyguard. Kacie and Brennan are attracted to one another, but both Kacie and Brennan have secrets in their past that could prevent them from finding happiness together.
This is another good LCR novel. Both characters have baggage that they must overcome as well as the threat that follows Kacie wherever she goes. Both characters were likable and their actions were easy to understand. A couple of major twists at the end enhance an already good story. Overall, an entertaining read.

2.5⭐
This is my third book of Christy reece. And I think I have some problem with her version of male main character. First one was....I wouldn't say great or best book boyfriend ever but he was okay that I remember. But this and the other one I finished before this is the reason for my conclusion. I don't get their romance part. They always take their female counterpart granted. It's like the heroin is swooning in looove and the hero is yeah yeah I love you too. Example from this book when brennen was leaving he was upset that Kacie wasn't in tears. Like boy you know it's a heartache for her you made that sure. She asked you to and did everything she could but you're leaving anyway. That's not enough you want her to what cry at your disposal? WTF!!
The romance was unnecessarily tangled. Yeah I don't get her romance but I really liked the mystery part in this one.

I think Christy Reece is an excellent writer and I enjoy the way she writes the story and her characters. I get that all of her characters have baggage and things they need to get past. I like the way her characters work together on the LCR missions as well as their personalities. I have read 3 of her LCR books now. Perhaps I just happened to read the 3 that all had heroines with similar back stories, but I am hoping that the next one I decide to read will have a different back story for the heroine. I think that is the only reason I can't give it 5 stars, but other than that, I quite like the writing style this author uses.
