Rongomai Matua was a School Teacher In Taumarunui New Zealand.
He trained at Victoria University, where he gained his teaching degree.
There he met Mark Wepa and their friendship grew.
Rongo was Ngati Kura from Pipiriki on the beautiful meandering Whanganui River.
Mark was Ngai Tahu from Akoroa in the South Island.
Mark through his paternal line, was a Tohunga. But because of a past disagreement with his father, he headed north to gain his Political Science Degree. Once achieved, he went back to the job he loved, Wool Classing.
When Rongo`s parent were accidently killed in a car accident, this bought these two friends very close together.
When a serious medical condition affected Mark and he could no longer follow the career he loved, as a quality Wool Classer on big North Island Sheep stations.
A whole new life style opened up in front of them.
They returned to beautiful Pipiriki for a time, then headed South and found solitude and a total new life, in beautiful Akoroa.
What would their futures hold in this beautiful part of the world.
When they found 'Te Whanganui Otama' it opened up visions for the future and a new life for both of them.
Marks nephews Turamai and Damion, a mixture of both Maori and Moriori blood, were to play roles in this future and a story of total cultural beauty unfolded.
Two men from different tribes, with high visions of the future, set out to show what Maori could do to benefit all people.
Here lies a story of the beauty that unfolds, when people work for the benefit of others and those they cherish and love.
