When an American tourist goes missing in Cherringham, the local police don't see reason for concern - people often wander away from such tours. But when that tourist's sister shows up from New York, desperately looking for answers, Jack and Sarah become convinced there's more to the disappearance than meets the eye. Soon, they are entangled in a mystery with a secret history of betrayal, sacrifice, dishonour ... and death.-- Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.-- For fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who series, Caroline Graham's Midsomer Murders, and the American TV series Murder She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury.-- Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. Now into its second season of 12 novellas, Cherringham is popular around the world and has been adapted as a series of audiobooks in Germany.

My rating system (* = star) 0* Could not finish this book (waste of time) 1* Finished the book but didn't like it. 2* Finished the book it was okay. 3* A good read worth your time. 4* An excellent read often with a novel concept or unusual plot. 5* A great read. A prominent example of the genre.
For the most part, this is Jack’s story. Sarah makes her appearance, but Jack is the main person on the trail, and I found that interesting. I love them as a team, but it is nice to see how each performs separately. There is one small part where Jack gets Sarah’s mind wandering, which I found interesting, but then again, maybe I am hoping for an outcome that may never come to fruition. There is always a possibility and one more reason why I continue with Cherringham.
An American tourist disappears during a visit to Cherringham. His sister is concerned but the police aren't helpful other than suggesting that she contact Jack so Jack and Sarah take on the case. To be honest, this was just an okay story. I enjoy the interaction between Jack and Sarah, but the story itself was not all that mysterious.
Jack and Sarah once again was asked to solve another mystery. This time it is a missing tourist. What could have become of him. He was very sickly looking, feeble, could he have wondered off, fallen, laid down and died? Would they find him alive. No one seemed to know anything about him, then there was a clue. Read, find out about the clue.
This is an average entry in the Cherringham series. But, as usual, it provided good entertainment while doing yard work and making dinner over the course of a couple days. With familiar characters and a somewhat formulaic storyline, it is easy to follow while doing something else.
What a sad storyline of the vanishing tourist, but so typical for army protocols, asking everything from you but giving you nothing in return. So sad and tragic. Good story!
A good book to listen too when you clean the house. It gives you ”Midsomer murders” wibes. It is fun to try to figure out how the guilty person is. Jack is a retired cop from US, Sarah is a singel mom and they solves crime together. This one was about a tourist that disappears.
