Salisa Grant’s “A Black Mother Like An Ocean” is a mirror to so many black women’s journeys of entering and adjusting to motherhood. She shares how the ugly pain and beautiful moments live together in motherhood and we survive it all. Her quiet and colorful words paint soft brush strokes throughout the pages, while her loud and bold revelations shake you as you read. I enjoyed every poem and highly recommend 🥰

I loved this collection. Essential Woman spoke loving to me. Salisa Grant is a beautiful loud voice for a new generation. Thank you for paying homage to some of the giants who came before. This is definitely a must add to your book shelf. I Well done!
