Like most writers I've always read and I've always got something going on in my head, story-wise. Mostly dialogue - at least, I hope that's dialogue and not something more serious - which inevitably makes demands on me.
I can recall lying under my bed when I was nine with a candle, a piece of scrap paper and a pencil, rewriting a disappointing ending to a book that had been pretty good up until those final pages. I'd 'borrowed' a highly unsuitable romance from an elderly lady and had gobbled it down in a day. I took away three things from that first sojourn into making up my own, far more satisfactory world. 1/ the hero really needs to end up with the heroine, no matter how irritating she is cause that is what romance is all about. Happy endings, even if they're unexpected. 2/ I liked storytelling so much that maybe it was something I could do on a regular basis. My people could behave as they were supposed to. And... 3/ burning a candle under a pile of highly combustible bedding is a really stupid thing to do. Or so my mother pointed out. I'm lucky I'm not toast.
Writing is a wonderful escape and nothing says run away with me better than romance. So that's what I pursue... historical (particularly Regency... oh man, Regency. Where the men wore breeches and the women appreciated the fact), suspense and contemporary. You can always check them out on Amazon or at www.kate-harper.com. On a more personal note, I live with my partner (no breeches), my kids and a hoard of animals that shed fur into my coffee on a regular basis. We live in a particularly beautiful part of Victoria, in Australia and feel pretty lucky to do so.
I knew this was a very short read at only 33 pages but I'm struggling to settle on a book at the moment so I thought a quick read might be the answer. The problem is this felt more like a draft, yes I know it's short but it seemed jumpy and kind of disjointed and I never felt any real passion or connection between the two main characters in fact I didn't really like either of them. I don't really think this needs to be a spoiler review but since I don't want to risk spoiling anything for you....
######SPOILER######### How did Sherri know where he lived, yes she could have just jumped into a cab and asked for him but would they take an obvious tourist to the family house? On being told at Sherri is pregnant Zain says “I don’t like it, but there’s nothing I can do about it....." Nice guy. Why would Zain and his mother, when it's just the two of them speak a mixture of Arabic and English? Surely they'd revert to their natural tongue and how does Sherri understand his mother and therefore know that Zain didn't defend her when it clearly states his mother is speaking Arabic. Am I being too picky? Maybe but I do like my books to make sense, even very short little romances.
I found the read to be just okay. As with most short books things moved by very fast. With a book of this nature it's even more imparative to check grammar, spelling, and structure.
Wish this had been better but it fell flat on so many levels- editing, characters, and story line. I see potential here which is why I gave it two stars. I encourage the author to keep writing and to consider reworking this short story. I was in between series/books and found this free read that looked interesting. I'm not a huge fan of short stories- often I wonder why bother getting a great cover and going through the marketing etc for a 35 page "book"- but I've read quite a few good ones lately and thought I'd give this one a try. The reviews on amazon are much better than on Goodreads. Unfortunately, the Goodreads reviews are more accurate. I kept wishing the author would take the time to read through her own book- there were so many glaring typos. My time is precious to me and I feel disrespected when an author doesn't bother to fix even simple typos. The story centers around a plus size girl who is dumped by her boy friend and takes a trip to a beautiful beach side resort for a friends wedding. She stays an extra day and gets stranded because of a storm. She has a one night stand with the resort owner. Fast forward two months and she's back to tell him their one night stand had consequences. Most of the short stories like this completely center around being "erotica". This story was confusing because the sex scenes were too graphic to be a vanilla story while at the same time they were not graphic enough to be considered erotic.
Poorly written. Poorly edited. Even the storyline was bordering on ridiculous. This girl that apparently had issues with her body image meets some random (but rich) guy, that she has a one night stand with. Without using protection at all and then flies back to her home country only to find out she is pregnant. So what does she do.....well she flies back to this strange country to tell this sheikh he is going to be a daddy and that she's going to be staying there with him. This girl just annoyed me how naive she was. One night together and she was thinking that just because she is having a baby to this stranger that they would automatically just live happily ever after together. Which of course they did....I'm sorry but there was not enough emotions and actual real feelings with these two people that it was too hard believe.
I know this was designed to be short. So I expect plot holes. But holes would have been better. There are too many jumps in the story. The transitions don't make sense.
So glad this one was free. There were so many spelling errors, punctuation errors, and tense changes I had a really hard time finishing the story. Not a fan.
What a brilliant quick book to read. A beautiful woman who meets a handsome man on the beach just before a storm delays her flight. After accepting his offer of accommodation the two enjoy their time together culminating in a one night stand. Imagine finding out that you are pregnant and feel that the father should know. Readers should enjoy this book which I would like to recommend.
Well I like this book so much.it's short n cute.I really enjoy short stories like this so I enjoyed this one too but there are some mistakes that should be corrected.cuz this book is written in third person but there are some places where it suddenly appears like this is in first person.I hope with my review this will be improve.
This was more a wishful thinking written down as a short story rather than a proper book. Needs more substance and realistic aspects to the romance. I think this is something that those ladies who fall for online scammers read and believe that it could really happen if you want it enough.
Free download. This was a quick read that didn't really hit the spot. Sherri is trying to get over a breakup so travels with some friends in the hope of coming out of a funk. She meets Zain by chance while taking pictures and the attraction is obvious. Although there are cultural differences it doesn't stop them from acting on their feelings but will that have consequences? This has the potential to be a good read, the story was good but needed more depth and character history. The writing needs editing as there are a few grammatical errors, I found the characters a bit wooden, even when I tried imagining them while I was reading. The story got to the point quickly but because of the lack of content it just felt off and not very realistic. It's a shame as it had the makings of a good story but just needed more empathy and content to make it more real.
A nice easy read that makes you believe that sometimes a break is good for you. Sherri meets Zain who is all mysterious and she knows that this is only a fling as she is too plain and fat for someone like him. They are both about to realise that sometimes love comes along when you least expect it. Will Zain's family accept her or will they send her away. A great short story
Sherri meets a Sheikh while alone on vacation and he picks her up, gives her a room in his hotel when her plane home is cancelled due to a storm. They end up in each others arms and eight weeks later she returns with her news... Romance: Sheikh Romance: The Sheikh Seduces is not very realistic but it is a sweet story.
Had potential. Foreign beautiful location, stormy night, handsome wealthy exotic man lusting her voluptuous curves but left on next plane & returned with a surprise.
So much scope with only a tiny ripple. A good start with a little depth would've been a better read.
This wad a very quick read about a young woman, ok she was 28, who goes abroad with her friends. She had bee dumped by her long time boyfriend. No she is in a country by herself. She meets a sheikh and has a short romance. I enjoyed the story by Kate Harper.
Short story, very sweet and very direct. It could have lengthened by giving a little drama between Sherri and Rada to win the Sheikh's heart but oh well....nice enough!!
This was a good story on how to get over your ex, but you have to catch and release. We must remember that a one night stand can have lifetime effects. So when you meet Mr. Rich and gorgeous, wrap it up or face his family.
