Mental Health: Personalities: Personality Disorders, Mental Disorders & Psychotic Disorders

Rate this book
At some point in your life you will probably start to think you are losing your mind, or that someone you know is in danger of losing theirs. The truth is that modern life is extremely stressful; there are many demands on your time and never enough hours in the day.

However, being at the end of your tether, worn out and overwhelmed is not the same as having a mental disorder. In fact mental health covers a wide range of illnesses including those which most people are aware of, such as Schizophrenia (which is classed as a psychotic disorder). What you may not be aware of is the number of people who have personality disorders and the reasons for these disorders. Most people are not diagnosed until into their twenties and symptoms will naturally reduce in their forties or fifties.

Knowing the difference between the various mental illnesses is essential to ensure you know when a friend or loved one needs professional help as opposed to just your care and attention. This book will guide you through the differences between personality disorders, mental disorders and psychotic disorders.

It will help you to understand the different elements of a personality and how you can test your friends to find out which personality type they are. It will even enlighten you as to the basic traits of each of the sixteen personality types, according to the Myers Briggs Personality test.

Reading this book will enlighten you as to the names and details of the nine main personality disorders, how to recognize the symptoms of each of these disorders and the best way to treat them. It is important to use this book as a guide to understanding these illnesses and to learn the best way to help and support anyone you know who is suffering from a personality disorder. However, a diagnosis must always be confirmed by a medical professional who will ensure treatment is available.

Many people who have a mental health issue will not recognise the issue in themselves; this book will ensure you understand each condition and can help your loved one to get the appropriate treatment.

Everyone deserves the chance to have a happy, fulfilling and balanced life. Read this and help those around you have that chance!

I think if one has not read many books on this subject, they are likely to enjoy it.

For me. I have just read so many books on personality disorders! I studied Psychology in school (not my major) but also my dad is a Psychologist and my mom was a Social worker. I love these types of books.

This one really does not tell me anything I did not know and was a bit light on specific details. I was hoping for a bit more. It is also short and can be read in under an hour. Not a bad book but not one I made a strong connection with. I have simply read to may books like this one.

I did appreciate the info on Myers Briggs. But maybe I am tiring of this subject. It did not make a strong impression on me either way.

Mental Health: Personalities: Personality Disorders, ...by Carol Franklin is a must read for everyone who has an interest in understanding themselves and understanding other more effectively. This book brought back to mind much of what I had studied in college what seems like a lifetime ago now--my major was electrical engineering but my minor was psychology. Carol packed more information, more learning into less than 100 pages what my college too a whole semester to impart and even then didn't present it as well as Carol did in this short book. This book is also a must read for any writer of short stories or novels who wants to create characters with believable personalities. This is one of the books that I will be keeping in my e-library for future reference.

Quack publishing - no one bothered to proof read this literary abortion before it went to print. Whilst reading I noticed a few grammatical and spelling errors. If you're considering on purchasing this book - don't! Save your money and seek out more credible authors who have a knowledge and experience on personality disorders.

Awful!

The book is very badly written. At the very least, the author should have had a competent editor. I suspect she had no editor. What is a "personality order"? Sentence structure is poor. It reads like a junior high student wrote it. It's just bad. I'm sorry I bought it.

Great Information

I really learned a lot from this book. Was never aware that so many of us are actually suffering from personality disorders. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to gain more knowledge about the subject of mental health.

I love short concise books so much! This one is packed with interesting information on a wide range of personality disorders I’d never even heard of before! And I’m pretty interested in this topic.

If someone you know comes to mind as you read down the symptoms of one of these disorders, regardless of whether they actually HAVE the disorder, maybe re-evaluate who you spend your time with. It’s been said we are the result of the 5 people we spend the most time with. Let’s hope those people don’t have personality disorders. If they do, this book may be a valuable resource for you.

One I find interesting is schizophreniform - someone who displays the symptoms of schizophrenia, but only for 1-6 months.

There are a bunch in here I learned of for the first time. Paranoid schizoid, schizotypal, histrionic, avoidant, dependent...honestly this book is fascinating and at an easy breezy 81 pages, why not?
