In Mountains Wanted, we met Dr. Sarah Lynde, a sociology professor and divorced mother of two, and Lt. James McAllister, a newly commissioned officer facing a deployment to Afghanistan. James and Sarah started off as friends with benefits but soon realized that their connection was too strong to deny deepening feelings for each other. In this sequel, both are pursuing other relationships and desperately trying to stay friends despite their intense past together, but eventually they must decide if their love is strong enough to climb the mountains that separate them. We are back in the world of Sarah and it's not for the faint hearted. The detailed graphic of her love life is not for the faint hearted. James is struggling between the life he chose and a desire he wants what ia James going to do about this situation. Then there's the play and new people who are playing wild this world has got ne gripped wanting to jump into the book. Garret is a very interesting character and amazingly written he's so well thought. I also enjoyed how the children relationship with the adults expand with thier ages.  Oh James and Sarah the passion these two have.

This review is very hard for me to write! How do you describe in words how much you love something?!? Well I'm going to start by saying Phoebe Alexander is an exceptional writer! It was just flawless! I loved every minute of it! She made Sarah the most amazing character I have ever read! And while your reading you get sucked in and it feels like you are her, you are Sarah when reading this! This is just an amazing series! But make sure you read Mountains Wanted first. Both books are amazing! And when you get done reading you will take something away with you! And I really hope we can get to see more of Sarah and James! I'm just in love with them! (Sarah more) lol

A difficult read. Not as exciting to read as the first book. Dont get me wrong - the sex is there, but not the chemistry. I was only ever inerested in James & Sarah together. James & Maggie feels wrong as does Sarah and her new guy. Although I understand her need to try to move on and great sex with another gorgeous guy seems a fair way to try :)
I can't say more without spoilers.
I'm just glad they both sort out their heads in the end and are able to be happy with their choices.

This was a great sequel to the book Mountains Wanted. Just as steamy - maybe even more so - than the first book in this saga. I really enjoyed reading parts of the storyline from James' point of view and liked seeing more sides of his character. I especially liked his more "Everyman" aspect being shown so we knew he was more than just a pretty face in fatigues. And don't worry, there are plenty of hot, sexy scenes in this book, too!

A wonderful follow up to Mountains Wanted. Phoebe builds on the intricate relationship that Sarah and James share. So much more than just an erotic romance, she makes you really care what happens to the characters.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander

5 ++++++ Stars

Oh Dear Lord this author is trying to kill me! I can not even with her right now!

One thing I wanted more than anything after reading the first of this series was to be able to hear from James and Oh My Word I got that in this part...I can not even imagine his struggle, the back and forth that was twisting his thoughts and emotions therefore twisting mine.

Then Sarah, Oh My Heart! While reading both of these books but especially this one her feelings jumped right off the pages and planted themselves in my heart…

I felt completely exhausted after reading this yet was so so ready to jump into the next one, which for the record I DON'T HAVE YET and I seriously don't think I will make it through the wait!
All of the characters in this continuing story have completely won me over, and since I know that this is loosely based on a true story it has helped me to transport into and feel like I was present for much of the book. Rachel stands for everything I've always wanted in a best friend and I love watching Abby grow up, I raised 4 girls and everything between Abby and Sarah felt so real.

Not going to comment specifically on any parts of this story because this being the second part and being an ongoing story I don't want to ruin anything from the first. I will though comment on how awesome it was to meet Garrett, again and have the background I so needed while reading his story. I now want to read that one again and will!

I need the next one NOW, my emotions are all over the place and I can feel that that isn't going to change when I have the next in my hands. So many things are still up in the air and I can not wait to see how they all play out.

Start at the beginning...A total must in my opinion…

I LOVE this author!!

AHHHHH. That is my only emotion, thought, literally everything after this book. Mountains Climbed is book two of Phoebe Alexander's Mountains Trilogy. In book one we were introduced to Sarah and James. Sarah being the older sociology professor and mother of two, with an unconventional and honest view about relationships. James being the young Army guy who is confused about what he truly wants in life.

This book opens with James being deployed. We know that he made his decision to marry Maggie, his high school sweetheart, and he is dealing with being away from her. Maggie is moving to Maryland from Ohio to be with him. James begins a new friendship with Abby, Sarah's teenage daughter. She confided in him about contacting her biological father and he tried to give proper advice. I love that he still cares about Abby and Owen despite the issues with Sarah.

Sarah is moving on and doing other things with her life. She and her daughter Abby are going to be in a play where she meets Garrett Stone. Garrett is a PhD student at Johns Hopkins and quite the red headed dream boat. She loves being back on stage and the renewed confidence that it gives her despite the nerves.

Sarah demands honesty in any of her relationships and when Garrett has broken that promise to her she reluctantly gives him a second chance. But fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me. She realizes he is a selfish person and she was probably only using him to fill a void left from James.

James returns and they are mere miles apart. James wants to continue a friendship with Sarah, much to Maggie's worry. Will they be able to be friends? Is Sarah strong enough to handle that? Is marrying Maggie what James truly wants or what he thinks he should want?

This book was even better than the first and let me tell you I LOVED the first. Their story is very eye opening and makes you take a look at the bigger picture of life and love and how you personally view relationships. I adore Sarah, truly, she is basically a role model. I found myself laughing and being angry for her all at the same time. And let me just say that Maggie annoys every nerve I have. She is whiney and seems to only have one thing on her mind and that's children, she just seems fake to me. I wouldn't give her the time of day but that's James' decision (and Phoebe's) not mine.

I definitely recommend reading the first book before this one. And I also absolutely recommend this series. Love it.

Mountains Climbed is the 2nd book in the Mountains Series by Phoebe Alexander. This series has 8 books in it. Sarah and James’ story is contained in books 1-3 and the author recommends that these are read in order. The remainder are stand-alones and can be read in any order. I had already read book 1 and was excited to read the next part in Sarah and James’ story.
At the end of book 1 Mountains Wanted, James has been deployed for 9 months and has proposed to his childhood sweetheart Maggie, leaving Sarah devastated. If I thought that book 1 was the most angsty thing I’d read by Alexander then this one was even more so. Added to the angst from Sarah we saw in book 1, now James is even more confused and conflicted. He loves Maggie and wants to marry her, but he realises that he’s also in love with Sarah too.
Trying to get over James, Sarah embarks on a new relationship with Garrett. As much as she enjoys spending time with Garrett, particularly in bed, she just can’t let James go.
This book gripped me just as much as book 1. There is so much emotion on display from both Sarah and James. You really can’t help but be sucked into their relationship. I have to admit to not liking Maggie but ask myself is it just because she’s keeping James away from Sarah? Would I like her otherwise? I’m pretty sure the answer is no. In my mind she’s just not the woman for him.
I really can’t wait to read the 3rd book, Mountains Loved, to find out what Alexander has in store for James and Sarah. I’m sure it’ll be another emotional, angst filled read that will have me captivated as this book has.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander
5 of 5 Stars
Lt. James McAllister and Sociology Professor Dr. Sarah Lynde’s story is continued in ‘Mountains Climbed’, having begun in ‘Mountains Wanted’. This series by Phoebe Alexander just gets better and better. The books do need to be read in order, “The first three Mountains Series books must be read in order, as it is James and Sarah's continuing saga”.
This is a steamy contemporary romance and it is recommended for age 18+, the sizzling chemistry between the characters definitely leads to some steamy sex scenes!
This book continues where the first one finished with James deployed and engaged to childhood sweetheart Maggie and a devastated Sarah moving on with handsome Garrett Stone. Although Garrett is a good distraction for Sarah, when her and James meet up when he’s home from deployment they can not deny their attraction.
This is a well written story with great characters that I fell in love with in book one and continue to feel part of their world. I am probably bias, but I was cheering Sarah and James on as it’s obvious they should be together but author Phoebe Alexander sends us on an emotional rollercoaster and as there is a third book in the series, we do not discover their fate in this book. I can not wait for Mountains Loved, and I hope that Garrett will get his own story and a happy every after as well.

Mountains Climbed is book 2 in the series and let me just inform you, this is one series you do not want to miss out on. The books are meant to be read In order since the story continues and you do not want to miss a beat. Sarah and James met and had a friends with benefits relationship. It was more for both of them but somehow they both seemed to move on. The only problem with that is, James knows Sarah’s children, mom and best friend. So when you go through a breakup sometimes it’s hard to get over it when everyone knows what happened and can bring up the name of the person.
In this book James is deployed and with someone else. Sarah has met someone who seems to be more her style. What is with Sarah and the younger men, who knows. While James and Sarah both seem content in their new relationships, they still cannot stop thinking about each other. What will happen when James returns in 9 months. Will he see Sarah, Will he want to rekindle things with Sarah? Will Sarah want to open that door again or will she move on and try not to get her heart broken two times by the same person?
I really enjoyed these two books in the series so far. I loved the characters and loved seeing Sarah’s kids, Abby especially grow up. I cannot wait to read more of this series. Sooo soooo good!! Trust me!!

Mountains Climbed is the 2nd installment in the Mountain series written by Phoebe Alexander. As usual, I would suggest reading the books in order. I feel it is important, especially in this series, to get the best understanding of what is going on. The characters from the 1st book are still in this one as are some new characters. Of course, I love all of the original characters and I was thrilled to see they were still there. I really wanted to like some of the new characters but some of them ended up being on my bad list. Sarah, the main character in the book, is really wise and has a lot going for her, she has two beautiful children, a very loving mother, along with a supportive best friend. Throughout book 1 and 2 my heart ached for her. I wanted so much for her to be happy. The push and pull of the relationship that she and James share this slightly frustrating. However I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I understand both of their struggles, uncertainty, and desire. I feel as if they share a connection that many people don't get to experience in life. I was over the moon reading the ending to this book! I have the 3rd one that I'm starting now. I can't wait to see where Sarah and James go. Phoebe is an amazing writer with flawless story-lines and character development. I would strongly suggest reading anything by her including this book and series.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2)
By Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars

The story Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander is the next amazing book in the continuing story of Lt. James McAllister and Dr. Sarah Lynde. It is a story that I couldn’t wait to read and found myself lost in the story once I started. Sarah is a woman who is moving on. She has found a new man in her life. That doesn’t stop her from thinking about James. Is Garrett Stone the distraction that Sarah needs? James is far from home and can’t seem to get Sarah out of his mind. As time moves forward why does it seem as if he can’t get seeing her once he is home out of his head? What does the future hold for Sarah and James? Will they both find a way to move on and label themselves as friends or will their feelings for each other be too hard to ignore? Read this book to find out. I love Sarah as she is a woman who is open about who she is and her belief system. She is strong, independent, and stubborn. She wants the same openness from a partner. As time moves on will James and Sarah find out that there are no more mountains that they will climb together? This book will have your emotions going up and down the entire time reading. I know mine was. I found myself wanting Sarah and James to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters that appear in the story. Many of them are from the first book and I enjoyed reading about them as they interact with James and Sarah. Don’t miss out on the next story in an amazing series that you won’t want to put down until you have finished the final page. Highly recommended.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander is the continuing erotic tale where there is much angst and longing, heartache and pain. You need to read Mountains Wanted first because it continues on from it. Phoebe has once again given us a thought-provoking story of one's sexual journey and of what some will see as taboo. It is a great story, but it is such an emotive story that you feel everything the characters are feeling. Phoebe has once again given us a story that is beautifully written and an erotic contemporary romance that you will love from start to finish. I was so drawn within the story that I read it in one sitting.

Sarah has to learn to live without the love of her life which is heart-breaking within itself, but she also has to learn that she must adjust her way of thinking when it comes to the needs of her children. Even though she tried to move on, she could not help what her heart wants but there is only so much she can take before she finally gives up.

James is on an overseas deployment and can’t help but think of the one woman who opened his eyes, he knows he should only focus on his fiancée, but Sarah holds a place in his heart and needs her in his life. Unfortunately, it is too little too late, and he may have lost the greatest thing to ever happen to him.

I can’t wait to read the next book to see if my suppositions are founded.

James and Sarah’s story continues in this second book in The Mountains series. This book picks up where the first book, Mountains Wanted ended. James has begun his tour in Afghanistan and Sarah is left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart when James made his decision. The book alternates between their voices and follows them as they come to terms to with the decisions made while dealing with their feelings for each other.
While both James and Sarah have lingering feelings for each other, they are forced to move forward with the paths that they have chosen (or that were chosen for them). I found myself feeling the ups and downs with both characters as they continue through their lives. Sarah’s experiences made me laugh, swoon, cry, get angry, and feel betrayed…right alongside her. Same with James. He goes through some ups and downs in this book…and I felt every one of them.
The author has a way with words that pulls you into the story and makes you ride along with the characters as though you are in the same room with them. I think the real-life scenarios resonate with me and I find myself connecting with various aspects on a personal level. I devoured this book in one sitting…and you can bet I will be reading the next book to see what happens next with James and Sarah.

Once again, Ms. Alexander has me by the heart strings! This is the second book in the Mountains Series and I am absolutely hooked! Sarah is one exceptional lady in my opinion! She is so open and loving and accepting. Everything I try to be but probably fall way short the majority of the time. I love how she deals with her children in an open and honest manor. Something I once again try to do but don’t always succeed at.

In this second book, James has been deployed, leaving Maggie at home, and Sarah has met someone else and is trying her best to move on and heal her broken heart. They can’t seem to forget one another though, no matter how hard they try. As in my review of Mountains Wanted, the first book in this series, I can’t tell you much about what happens in this story. You truly need to read it to experience the full range of emotions these stories take you through.

This series is emotional, touching, heartbreaking, and heartwarming. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters and their stories. Well, except for Maggie maybe. She’s a bit too closed minded and judgmental for me! LOL! I can’t wait to read the next book in James and Sarah’s story! This author truly knows how to take you along on a journey!

I could hardly put this book down.

First, I love that the female character dates men who are younger than her. Finally some men who aren't scared of a strong, mature woman!

Second, I love that Sarah is so secure in her sexuality. We need more female characters like her. Personally romance novel heroines who keep throwing the words "slut" and "whore" around just exhaust me. It's time insidious misogyny stopped seeping into romance novels! And this book has a real feminist for a female character.

Third, finally a book where the bisexual male truly shows attraction to both genders. Usually, in novels, we know the character is bi, but we don't really see it. I really wanted to see a bi character who isn't just in a gay relationship or just in a straight relationship.

I like that the female character is confident enough to have a woman as a friend! See note above about insidious misogyny in romance novels.

I'm upset that one of the characters was so horrible. I'm not sure how I feel about that because I needed that character to be a good person. *cries*

So if you want a really romantic and feminist book, this is it. : )
Now I want to read the last book!!!!

Mountains Climbed
Mountains Series
Book 2
By Phoebe Alexander
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
All the feels of romance. The struggles are real. This is so worth the read. Remember chocolate may be required. This series is for 18 and older. I would also encourage you to read this series in order. As book 2 is a continuation to book 3.

This is the continued story of James and Sarah. With mountains between them. Lt.James McAllister is deployed. While he is gone, all he can think about is Sarah. He can't wait to return and see if she is the love he seeks.
Dr. Sarah Lynden has taken another. Garret Stone who is her everything. But… Can he take the place of James? What will happen when James returns?

Phoebe Alexander how could you? She has left me wanting for the rest of James and Sarah's story. This is a page turner, well written, and easy to pick right back up where you left off. Phoebe Alexander has some amazing characters who will be on your mind as you wait for the next book. I have read quite a few Phoebe Alexander books and have never been disappointed. I'm looking forward to seeing where this story goes. Please bring out the next one soon.

They may be separated by miles and decisions but the heart wants what they heart wants!

Mountains Climbed is the second book in the Mountains Series and continues the story of Dr. Sarah Lynde and Lt. James McAllister.
This book finds James deployed overseas but still cannot forget about Sarah. But he had chosen Maggie and become engaged. So this creates a wee bit of a problem for him to say the least.
Sarah is back home and moving on the best she can after being rejected by James, who she loved and felt deeper for than any other man before. She is trying to do this with a new man in her life, Garrett Stone. But can he be enough of a diversion for her to still her mind and mend her broken heart.
Both James and Sarah are struggling during this book with their feelings and their longing hearts. As we all know the heart wants what the heart wants and both James and Sarah are experiencing that fully. The question will be what happens if anything between them again? Will they be able to stay away from each other when James returns home?

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

We left book 1 with James choosing Maggie before he sets off on another tour of duty. Sarah tries to move on, she meets Garrett, and things are going well for a while. But James is always on her mind, the love she has for him is nothing she has ever experienced, and she's sure she never will. Sarah has suffered so much pain in such a short time. Emotionally things aren't great, but there's so much good in her life right now that she can draw on the strength from the positive to carry her through the heartache, but it certainly isn't easy.

What an emotional rollercoaster! My heart broke over and over for Sarah and the hurt that kept being heaped upon her. She doesn't ask for much, she wants honesty, and in that, I think we can all relate. She's excellent at communicating her wants and needs, and yet they don't get returned. I didn't want to put this down because I am so invested in Sarah and James' happiness. I cannot wait to see what is in store for everyone in this series! Such a great read.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander .

Mountains Climbed is the second book in the Mountains series by Phoebe Alexander . I loved this book just as much as I did the first one. I will highly suggest reading this series in order to get to know all the characters from each Book. This Author is one of my favorites I’ve never read a book by her that I didn’t love. Her stories are always very creative and the characters are very well developed and easily relatable and very lovable. Get ready for a emotional rollercoaster ride with these characters Lt. James and Dr. Sarah. She’s trying to move on with her life and has a new man in her life but that doesn’t stop her from thinking about James. .He can’t get her out of his head, problem is he’s far from home and stop thinking about her. Can Garrett be the distraction she needs? Can they find a way to be just friends ? Find out what happens next. I can’t recommend this book enough.i can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I can’t believe that I am about to say this but the Mountains series from Phoebe Alexander is quickly becoming my favorite of hers. That is super hard for me to say because I adored her Eastern Shore Swingers series so much it became a regular read in my life.

With the Mountains series we get to see more of the hot and emotional romance that we have come to expect and love from Alexander. I absolutely adore that she takes an unconventional lifestyle and makes it seem so well, conventional. The emotions and the life changes that happen to the characters become extremely deep and embedded in your soul as you read. I walked away from this book feeling as if Sarah was very real and a much loved person I wish I could meet. The supporting characters get more of a voice in this book, especially James and boy do I love that man. So much emotions got brought to the surface and I can’t wait to see what will come next in the third book!

Mountains Climbed is the second book in the Mountains series by Phoebe Alexander. This book/series is a steamy, wonderfully written, and absorbing contemporary romance. It continues the story started in book one, so as such, I really recommend reading the first book before starting on this one as it has all the backstory, character introductions, and other relevant information- which will give you a much better appreciation of this story.
We met Dr. Sarah Lynde and Lt. James McAllister in book one- following them through all the intense, steamy, and emotional developments. James has been deployed to Afghanistan, and Sarah is trying to move on with her life- but neither of them can erase the other from their heart, or mind. What happens here, makes for really engrossing reading.
Loving this story and the wonderful characters sooooo much- and it’s set to continue into book 3- so bring it on!!!

Thank you, Ms. Alexander!

Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that you will want to climb like a tree. This is number two in the Mountains series and it is best if you read number one first as this is a continuation of James and Sarah’s story. This is a story that will cause true conflict within your soul, James and Sarah in your heart you know they are destined to be together, but they aren’t. James is set to marry his high school sweetheart, because that’s what you do isn’t it… Especially when Sarah has moved on with Garrett, but even if we know they should be together, it doesn’t always make it so. That’s what I like about this author, the passion is there, but you don’t always get what you want, and also the way the characters interact with the secondary characters, that’s nice, its well done and adds depth to the story. Overall a very well-done story and a series you need in your life.

Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander is the second book in the Mountains Series. This does need to be read in order as it is a continuation of James and Sarah’s story.
This book is so emotionally charged. With the way things ended in book one I absolutely had to read this book. I was torn with the direction this book was going in because it wasn’t what I was hoping for and yet I have learnt to trust this author implicitly in her writing.
By the end of the first page I was completely drawn into the book and these characters again. It honestly felt like my heart was ripped apart and patched back together so many times while reading this book. There is so much that I could say about this hook but I won’t because I don’t want to ruin the experience for anyone else.
If you haven’t already picked up this series then I would recommend you doing so immediately!!!

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series Book 2)

by Phoebe Alexander

Wow this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster.  After reading the first book there were so many things that I wanted to happen for James and Sarah, and it took me awhile to get over the fact that James got engaged to Maggie. In this book we got to get more about how James is feeling and boy is he going through a lot.  My heart goes out to him. Let's not forget all the feelings that jump off the pages from what Sarah is experiencing. We also get to meet Garrett in this story and that to say the least is very interesting. There is so much more that goes on in this story than what I have mentioned but I don't want to give anything away so I'm just going to say this is a must read and I need the next book now!!! I highly recommend this book, I also recommend reading the first book before this one.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander - Review by Gail Guerrero

I’m so irritated. Why do I constantly do this to myself? This author definitely knows how to wrap you in the emotions of her characters. To make you feel how they felt. Through the whole story I was slacked jawed with how much you got to know these characters. By how you learn to understand and live their life. I’m not sure if I could be as brave and amazing as Sarah. She is herself 100% of the time. There is no shyness no timid voice. I loved how she gave 100% of herself and communicated what she needed and wanted. That level of honesty is amazing. It just sucks that she doesn’t get it in return. I know millions of people out there that possibly feel the same. But it truly amazed me that the author made these characters so real. Yeah this one is definitely a must read.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander. This series is amazing and once you start reading these books you can't put them down. Its the continuing story of Lt. Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander was the second installment to the series and it does not disappoint. This book continues to follow Lt. James McAllister and Dr. Sarah Lynde in a steamy, page turner that keeps you on your toes. James is deployed and can only think of Sarah even though he knows he shouldn’t as he is engaged to another. Sarah has a new man in her life and as much of a distraction as he is, her thoughts can’t help but wander back to James. These two have so much love for each other but are they destined to be together? What will happen if they see each other again? Did they make the right decisions? This book will make you feel more emotions then you did in the first one. Definitely recommend reading book 1 first as this is a continuation of the first book in this series.

I understand more now how hard it is when ur truly inlove with sumone. It's very hard 2 let go of the person u truly love especially when there's another person involved. The mountains r very peaceful and it's where a person can think about things. It's 2 hard 4 James after him going overseas but when he got back he had 2 really listen 2 his heart. Most people don't understand and society is against anything different but yet she opened herself 4 more than the normal. It doesn't help when ur always lied 2 and it hurts that u have 2 treat other grown ups as kids cause they act like it but she was awesome at putting her foot down when it was needed. I can't wait 2 read the last book about them asap.
