Fate is a powerful thing... Ethan Wate is still grieving the loss of his beloved Amma when he receives an unexpected gift--the old, yellow Whitman's Sampler box that held Amma's most closely guarded secrets. 3.5 stars. A heartwarming story about how Amma became a mother figure for Ethan. Her selfless devotion and love is something we should all aspire to. I liked reading the short bits about her childhood and coming to terms with the power she yielded, and her interpretations of the card readings.
These novellas are not my favorite but like the previous novella in this series, this one did fill in some gaps and questions that I had about the original series. The Seer's Spread is Amma's backstory covering things like the significance of the One Eyed Menace and how Amma became somewhat of a caretaker/nanny for both Mitchell and Ethan. There was great writing and world building, but Amma has never been a character that I've been eager to know more about so this one was just an okay read for me.
This will be a short review, but still. I really enjoyed reading about Amma. It was short novella and I'm sure we could have said a lot more about her, but I liked to have this insight in her past and how she came to be part of the Ethan's life.
I feel sad that whatever she did, her destiny was set in stone. She couldn't change it and even if she could have, a part of me believe she would have done the same things if only for Ethan.
You can see just how deep she cared for him and it's really touching that Ethan got to read about it and learn more about the woman who was part of his family.
These novellas are a nice addition to the series and I can't wait for the next one.
I think this one may have been my favorite out of the four strictly because I just love Amma. It was cute to see how much she loved the Wate family and Ethan's father and also how she dropped everything when Ethan was born. It can't have been easy to be a seer but Amma did it with sass and class.
I didn't like this one as much. I thought I was going to love it because we love to see all things Amma. Ethan is struggling with her going and something she had left him. I understand that because when my gma and my mother passed I set some of their stuff in a closet and just let it sit for years not wanting to deal with it. Once I felt okay to deal with it I did finally. One of them I was really close with the other not so much and it was still very hard to go through and exhausting emotionally regardless. So totally know what he is going through. The thing I didn't like about it is that for the spread of the cards it didn't really explain the spread not even maybe a thought or meaning to it just saying the spread once for her and another time when her boy brought Lila home to marry. I believe they were different... it was hard to flip between the pages in the ebook to check for sure but some of the cards remained the same. But again we didn't get a divination with it or an approximate of what might or might not happen. So we as the reader are left to guess. We do see a little bit of Macon and his struggle to stay away though he just wants to make sure she is happy. It's sweet
This time it's a story about Amma and how she is related to Ethan's family. I would have loved to have a lot more details about her life and her family and how she actually became who she is. Instead this book shows how she build her life by linking herself to Ethan before he was even born because she has seen his existence in the cards. It was a nice story so I was expecting a bit more.
This second novella, sadly, was better than the first where Macon and Lila’s romance was butchered. They are written like books with cliffhangers even though they are supposed to stand alone. I don’t have much else to say about it. Don’t love it, don’t hate it.
I’m seriously about to start sobbing at this one. This just depends the connection between Amma and Ethan. It’s the story I didn’t know I needed to make this series all the more powerful.
I really liked this book, it had a lot to do with Amma. Of course that was the point. I like that they authors thought to have a book pretty much dedicated to Amma. There isn't much to really say about it other than that I enjoyed it and you should read it too.
I know these are YA books, but I am so in love with all of the characters and the storyline that I simply cannot get enough of them. I have the next 3 in this untold series to read and I am eagerly anticipating all of them.
Not sure if these Novellas where worth the Purchase it is kinda of nice to read the extra stuff but I think it would have been better if they would have just put in all in one book and also I think all are missing a page because it only goes to page 37 out of 38
Love the back story on how amma became the greatest seer and how the cards told her about Ethan wate before he was even born and it was kind of a love letter to her boy , that she promised to protect.
Awwwwww I love Amma!!!! This was a very cute and short read! I really enjoyed learning about how Amma entered the Wate family and hearing her story made me love her character even more!!!!
Quick read! I loved learning the back story of how Amma came to raise Mitchell and Ethan. It’s nice to have some of the questions from the series answered in novella form like this. ❤️ Amma so much
Loved getting to see Amma from several moments in her life! She is a woman to be cherished, she loves her family fiercely and Ethan was lucky to have such an amazing person in his corner!
