Pistol Fanny's Hank & Delilah

Rate this book
Never fall in love with a bank robber.

Especially if she’s the one who robbed your bank, took you hostage, and dumped you unconscious at the local convenience store. And definitely not if you are the assistant district attorney of Tupelo, Mississippi.

This is the advice Hank Huckleberry Rivers would have given himself, back when he was a man who vowed to always walk on the right side of the law. The same law that had seemed sacrosanct ever since the day he and his friends watched as two men were murdered right below their tree house.

Falling in love with a dangerous criminal can have life-altering consequences, though. And when the past and the present meet head-on, Hank finds himself in more trouble than he ever bargained for. He must run to save his life, daring to find answers to the questions threatening his safety and his heart, as the killer below the tree house comes after Hank—and his pistol-wielding bank robber.

It’s a simple case of love in the first degree.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her passion for writing began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightning bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently resides in Texas (where everything really is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their three peculiar dogs, Boudreaux, Tabasco, and Vanna Loo (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Going into this book, I had no idea on the genre. I got the sense that their would be a love story, but it wasn't entirely clear. So why did I request it? Simply on the name alone. It's quirky and different, just like the book. The author takes us on a wild ride, filled with revenge, crazy characters, and a complex love story.

We first meet Hank as a young boy, who's life, along with his friends, is forever changed after witnessing 2 murders. Prior to this incident, he actually boasted about wanting to rob a bank someday. After the incident, he's on the right side of his law as the Assistant District Attorney, with one of his BFFs taking on the job as Sheriff.

Whether it was fate or something else, he finds himself at a bank on the day of the robbery. Does he do the right thing and try to catch the "bad guys?" No, he does something completely unexpected. He falls in love with one of the robbers, who just happen to be an entertaining group of women. Their robbery is filled with balloons, fancy gun tricks, dancing, music, and some explosives.

Hank suffers from insta-love in the first degree. How do you fall in love by just looking into someone's eyes? I didn't have a clue, but it happens to him twice, and based on his actions following, I believed he fell deeply in love in both cases.

This is the second story I've read this week with some mystery about identities. In this one, you have Hank falling in love with 2 women. Is this a love triangle or something else? I wasn't certain either way. Along with Hank, I often wondered if Pistolette (his nickname for the robbery) and Delilah were the same woman. And what's strange is he had multiple opportunities to find out the truth but avoided it. While it would be odd to have 2 loves be the same person, even worse would be if they were related, which was my other theory, and obviously be very bad.

Given my typical reads, this one is very tame in the sense of the language used. It's very Southern, good boy talk, with references to God over expletives. While Hank falls in love quickly, the love story takes a long time to develop. The true struggle becomes how holds Hank's heart more.

Hank could easily have resolved this triangle when given opportunities to find out Pistolette's true identity, but for some reason, he chooses not to ask, which was incredibly frustrating. His lack of action actually causes a lot of heartbreak for himself and another.

Other than the love triangle, I loved the backstory involving Hank and his odd set of friends. They all grew up thru the story, supported Hank, even though they thought he was crazy, and I loved how their interactions with the robbers changed their lives.

There were parts of this story that were a bit confusing for me, especially with all of the characters and various nicknames. But this story is unique and entertaining, taking two plot lines and cleverly merging them for the final blow out, so to speak. This is one of those stories where the outlaws are the good guys, and you'll enjoy being part of their justice.

Favorite Quotes:

“Maybe if you’d stop letting people call you ‘Toots,’ the girls would dig you. I heard Leslie and Cassie talking about you today at lunch. They both think you were named after gas. I don’t think they even know that your real name is Hank.”

“He’s strange. He isn’t going to do anything to my bathroom, is he? I’m just going to warn you now, if he does, I’m going to knock him upside his head with my wrench.”

“Boy, you are just a teaspoon away from insane, aren’t you?”

“One more day with you feels like a life sentence because it will never be enough.”

“She’s the lewdest one – more flamboyant than the rest with all her boy toys. A real Lorena Bobbitt type, though. Lure you in with all her singin’ and then cut it right off and throw it out the window. Better yet, she loves sweet tea, that girl. She’d probably use it as a stirrer.”

My Review:

I was instantly sucked into this delightfully creative mixed-genre story as the beginning voice was of Toots/Hank at age 12, and his observations and narration had me barking aloud in mirth. The humor seemed effortless and the story flowed in an addicting and absorbing manner. I adored the style, the quirky characters, the phrasing and word play. I was all in and going for broke. The tale turned darker as the basis of the mystery began, and I remained hopelessly addicted as I gasped clutched the pearls during traumatic event witnessed by Toots, that would forever change and shape their futures.

Now adults, a chance trip to the bank brought life changes to Toots – now an adult Hank, as kismet had him falling instantly in love with one of the alluring and acrobatic lady bank robbers, who put on musical dance numbers as they wordlessly robbed their targeted banks. The cosmic meeting greatly affected them all and ignited a love affair with confounding yet potentially dire consequences. The lady bandits became a sensation with repeat performances/robberies throughout the South. They were so popular that men started hanging out in their local banks with flowers and were leaving love notes on their deposit slips.

I was still smirking and grooving on the story until about mid-way through, when became more chaotic, splintered, and confusing for me, and then it started to seem rather bizarre. I was addled, and nearing exasperation I had the thought that the story had warped like a bad acid trip, and shortly after having that thought, the characters were drugged and experienced strange hallucinations – smirk! Thankfully, the story soon coalesced and made sense again in an increasingly intriguing and gratifying manner.

I gave it 4 stars overall, but if an editor had taken a red pencil to the bewildering mid-section, this would easily have been a 5 star read.

** 2 Cranky Stars **

I found this book a conundrum.

The story line was interesting, a group of 12 year olds are witness to a dual murder. It goes on to change and shape each boy's life as they grow up. The main character, Hank, is caught in the middle of an all girl bank robbery and falls instantly in love with the leader of the gang.

He proceeds to chase after her eventually involving all his friends. The story is filled with many colorful characters who are a mix between Annie get your Gun and Bonny and Clyde.

The way the story was told, however, did not appeal to me. It is rife with cliches and and analogies. I felt as if I was reading a screen play for an OLD PI movie. In my opinion large portions were over dramatized and read more like prose than a story. In many places the author also repeated a word three times, almost like the refrain of a song and then just to put the cherry on the cake with my biggest trigger, typos and errors, to the extent that on more than one occasion I had to reread an entire paragraph and still not make sense of it.

I rate the book as a whole 2/5 stars

Pistol Fanny’s Hank and Delilah is the story of a band of merry women bank robbers and how Hank Rivers fell in love with one of them.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. I laughed out loud often and loved the hilarity of the characters. Early on in the book, a flashback takes us to Hank and his boys as they witness a tragedy from the treehouse where they are hiding, hoping not to be spotted. Hank is present when Pistol Fanny’s rob the bank but he can’t help but fall in love with one of the women. He chases her out and finds himself kidnapped…

The writing was great here and I enjoyed the story. However, I had a bit of trouble keeping up with the characters. This is no fault of the author’s, but I got a bit confused. (Insert witty blonde joke here). This made the story a bit hard to follow as Pistollette/Delilah and her sisters, and other relatives, entered the picture. Then the dog, Freud was written like a real person and that further confused me.

Overall the story was good but really hard for me to connect with. ~ Heather, 3.5 stars

A departure from my normal type of book, this story was absolutely a kick to read. There is a whole host of quirky characters, with quirky nicknames to match, a whacky storyline of romancing the same woman, but with two distinct personalities and a crime that sets the whole story into motion.

This is the first book by this author I've read, and find that I've enjoyed her style of writing. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley for my honest review.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Many people don't. But what if it happens to you, and the person you instantly fall in love with is a bank robber who has a gun to your heart? This is the basis for this well-crafted story. It reads like a fairytale. It reads like a long dream. It reads like folklore.

I really enjoyed the wonderful names of characters. They are funny and unique. I loved the use of word motifs. I truly appreciated that all details are intentional and have a place in the story; all is revealed in the end.

In order to really enjoy this book, you have to suspend reality a bit and go with the quirkiness. It does get confusing at times - I wasn't always sure who was who, and sometimes I got lost in the storytelling. But as I said, every detail has an important role and place in the overall arch of the tale.

Quite the enjoyable book!

Good...but inappropriate for a 12yr old.

It had some nasty stuff. It was good, but I got confused about the sisters names, and what they do.

A fun story about women bank robbers and the man who falls in love with one of them. At times, it was hard to keep up with the characters, but overall a fun read.

It is no secret that I am a humungous fan of Annie Rose Welch. Her Saving Angels series is my all time favorite book series and I was in tears when book five was done. I eagerly waited her next release and my mama, being the best mama in the world, gifted it to me from Amazon one beautiful morning! I was so excited to jump into this world.

If you have read the blurb you know what this book is about better than any way I could describe it to you. If you haven’t you should, then come back and get on with my review.

I am still turning my thoughts over and over on this book. That is what a great book does. It leaves you thinking about it even a week after you have read it.

The first thing I noticed was that I had to get out of my Saving Angel’s mindset. While Delilah and Eva share some of the same southern speaking patterns and there is an epic almost supernatural in it’s nature romance, that is where the similarities end. I am totally in awe of Annie’s ability to write in such completely different styles. While Saving Angels to me was this haunting beautiful series, I could see Pistol Fanny’s Hank And Delilah being performed and going down as one of the best Vaudeville shows.

I know, I know, this isn’t about Saving Angels (though some of my fave’s from that series get a shout out in this one!), that’s one of the things I took away from this though is Annie’s immense talent for writing in different styles. While reading it was still all Annie Rose Welch to me, it was just completely different than what I have read before. It was amazing.

When I was done with Pistol Fanny’s Hank And Delilah, I shot Annie a message on Facebook and said this was so wonderfully strange. I mean strange as a compliment. This was seriously unlike anything I have ever read before (as I’ve comed to expect of anything I read by Annie). The language, the humor, the reasons behind why the bank robbers are doing what they are doing, Hank and Delilah’s relationship as they are finding their way, each of the different women’s personalities, Pepsi! (I loved Pepsi!), it was such an awesome fun read! This book was just so full of life, even when life wasn’t pretty. That’s the best way I can describe this. It is so wonderfully strange and so full of life. I absolutely loved it.

I have to give a shout out to Freud here too. I loved that gentlemanly dog. He was his own character and even as a dog, he was an integral player in the story. Freud was awesome.

When you are reading this watch for how Annie ties things together that are seemingly unrelated. She does this in every book I have read from her. You’re reading along and you start to notice these intricately woven story lines that come back around to each other. Sometimes it doesn’t even happen until a book down the line, it could be something small that you didn’t think much about while you read past it and then you’re sitting there with your mouth hanging open because you totally didn’t see that coming.

5 stars all the way. I want to thank Annie for writing another masterpiece and my mama for sending it to me! I cannot wait for the next book. There’s going to be another book right? Whose story is it going to be?

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun read. If you're a fan of the show Hart of Dixie, I think you'd love this book. The whole time I just pictured the handsome District Attorney Hank Rivers as George Tucker... The romance is mushy, and the crazy-in-love was WAAAY over the top sometimes, but it was fun. There were times when I thought the romance was weighing too heavily on the plot - I was hoping for more bank-robbing and crime chasing than mushy romance, but by the end, I felt like the book was really well-balanaced between action and romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters. The plot twists working up to the final revelations were all very nicely done. The writing is fantastic too - I read the first chapter and was hooked. Ultimately this was just a good time. Such a fun read. The situation is probably pretty over the top for real life, but that's where I think fans of the long-con will enjoy this read, and fans of larger than life fiction. The characters fall fast and hard, in a love-at-first sight kind of way, and if you are ok with suspending reality for a good love story, you'll like this read.
The ending is just so good. I would absolutely watch this as a movie.
CONTENT:
This is just a action-packed love story - this is not a sex-focused story. There are only two actual sex scenes in the book, and I think the book would have been better without both of them. The other parts where sex was only alluded to (and these are few) seemed to fit the plot so much better. The first sex scene both parties were completely drunk - which I always think is a ridiculous way to start anything but a one-night stand... I just prefer that characters who are supposed to really be in love with each other in a soul-mate kind of way don't do things like have sex for the first time when no one is in their right mind... and the other scene is just one of those that is totally at the wrong time.
There is some recounting of memories of domestic abuse and child abuse, however the abuse recounted in not sexual in nature, it's mostly physical violence, and murder, described in a not very graphic way.
Obviously there's bank robbing with guns, but that's the fun part. Men line up to try and be at a bank that might get robbed cause these robbers put on a show. Nobody really gets hurt.

I have to start out by saying the names of the characters in this book are fun. There's Hank Huckleberry, Dylan Surr Cotton, Tommy Beeswaxes who has a mother named Junebug, and Curly Cootie (aka: Cootie Bug) that have some of the fun names in this book right from the beginning. Dylan Surr Cotton being the one that likes to play Sheriff. Jesse, one of the boys from the group had a mother who was a God Fearing, Church Going, Bible Thumping mother that would beat the devil out of her husband if he was drunk off the sin juice with her bible. Of course, he'd ask for more, oh my word. Could you imagine being a child with that going on at home? This was June-bug doing this. That's funny! She takes no tomfoolery from her husband. What happens after Curley, Jesse and Hank see a murder of two people, one of them a judge when they're hanging out in their 'Wild Thang' club house that they discovered in an large, old tree in the woods? Irony of ironies, Dylan did become the Sheriff years later. The boys only ever told Tommy and Dylan about what they saw. It was a pact they made. Tommy Beeswaxes becomes a writer for a newspaper for a food column called Mrs. Thomasina Beeswaxes's Southern Fried Food. That's funny. Things get interesting when Dylan and Hank are reading the newspaper about a gang of bank robbers that people cannot figure out if they're men or women. What happens when that female bank robbing gang comes to their home town? Hank is in the bank when the women hit it, he finds his heart taken by the pistol wielding woman that is a crack shot. What happens after that? Why do the women use morse code? Interesting twist of events when the women are in the get away vehicle and the others find out Hank and another guy are in the back. What do they end up doing with the money? Man, this book is full of a lot of hilarious moments, suspense, mystery, and thrills, not to mention romance. It's a fun read. Enjoy it! I did! Delilah is a hoot, and one hell of a driver on the roads, she thinks quick, and has contacts all over the place it feels like. How does life change for Hank and Delilah when she acquires a home in California for them? I'm not going to say anymore about the book, because it will ruin it if I keep up with the review. Read it, it's fun!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book but whatever it was didn't even get close to what I found! Hank & Delilah's story was a riot.

It was a quirky, engaging and very entertaining read packed with action, adventure, mystery and romance. The story had an old fashioned feel to it at times - possibly down to Del and her music choices and how she lived her life, I'm not entirely sure - but I loved it. I laughed a lot during the read but it wasn't all fun times, there were some sad and serious events that shaped both our main characters.

Both leads were very likable and I was rooting for them from the off. Hank had a great sense of humour and his take on people and events tickled me. His persistence and determination to win Delilah round was endearing, while at the same time I could understand Del's hesitation and slight reluctance to become involved with him!

We were introduced to a whole host of characters that give us an idea of the kind of lives our couple lead.. When we first met Hank's friends they were young and total boys and it was interesting to see who they had grown and how they had changed now that they were older - but the one thing that stayed constant for this little gang was their loyalty and friendship.
Delilah's family seemed never ending (this for me is where I had to keep up and really pay attention, it could be quite easy to lose track of who's who at points). The love and support that they had for each other was obvious and you didn't doubt for a second that they would do anything for each other. Look out for Freud, Del's beloved dog, he's nigh on human at points in his mannerisms and behaviour!!
The main themes that ran through the story related to friendship, trust, loyalty and being there for the 'family' that you care about (and as is true in real life, this family is not always of blood but often of choice).

If you're looking for a book that's a little different from your normal read, that has the lot going on and will keep your attention, give Pistol Fanny's a go. You won't regret it!

Hank and Delilah get 4 pistol toting stars from me!!

You know that saying “never judge a book by its cover” well this is one of those books. Although I am a huge fan of Annie Rose Welch as I find her writing style to be poetic, expressive and lyrical to that of her peers her books just swallow you up completely, something which I love about reading her stories as I am currently half way through the Saving Angels Series and loving it. If you are looking for a story that is quirky, funny, original, full of suspense, characters that you will instantly fall in love with, all mixed up in a sweet romance then this is the book for you.

This is the story of Hank Huckleberry Rivers, who as a child, along with a couple of his friends witness the murders of two men beneath their beloved tree house “Wild Thang”. Vowing to always do the right thing and stay on the right side of the law, he sets about on a journey to become the District Attorney…sometimes though what you plan to do in life isn’t always what life has planned for you especially when it comes to falling in love with a dangerous pistol-wielding female bank robber…

Fast forward several years to where Hank now an assistant District Attorney and his friends meet up in their old tree house to welcome Hank back to their hometown where chit chat turns to a conversation concerning a spate of recent bank robberies of course Hank hearing that the bank robbers are women doesn’t quite believe it

"A bunch of women? Hank could hardly believe it. These were no ordinary bank robbers. No, that would be a crime in itself to even try to call them that - these were simply she-devils on heels. Hank could tell."

However, when Hank finds himself in one of the banks the women rob he has no choice but to believe it, especially when he is taken hostage, knocked unconscious and then dumped outside a local convenience store. Suddenly Hanks finds himself in more trouble than he bargained for and his life is about to be turned upside down and when the past and present collide it will have life altering consequences.

A thoroughly addictive and unique read that will keep you guessing right to the very end.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

3 stars

This was on of those books that they blurb caught my interest immediately. Bank Robber. District Attorney. What could go wrong right? So when this book it gripped me. Childhood friends keeping a secret. I have to admit I really enjoyed the backstory more than anything in this book. I loved seeing what had happened more than what was happening. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it was definitely a switch for me. But what happens when another life altering circumstance takes place. Well you end up somewhere you don't know with someone you are not sure if they actually robbed the bank you were standing in or not. There was a lot that went on in this book and at times it was frustrating, because I had to go back and forth to figure out who the players were and what they were doing in the story. I had to go back and forth a lot to make sure I had the right people in the right places. I couldn't enjoy Delilah and Hank as much as I usually do when I'm reading a book.

Although I had difficulty getting through this book it did have some great moments. I loved seeing some of the interaction between Delilah and Hank, but once again I did like the back story more than anything. That kept me reading the book, I wanted more of that. Even though this was my favorite book it was still great to meet a new author and hopefully I will read another of her books in the future.

What a wonderful book this is!! It is a breath of fresh air in a book world where there can be so much similarity between stories.

This is the story of Hank Huckleberry Rivers, who as a child, along with his friends, witnessed several murders beneath their tree house. So he vows to always do the right thing and ends up becoming the District Attorney of Tupolo, Mississippi. But sometimes what you plan to do in life, isn't what life has planned for you.

"Now, what's going on again?" Hank said, his mind slowly starting to turn on. "A bunch of women robbers. They're taking over the country with their stealthy and hot ways." Dylan laughed.

And when Hank and Curly find themselves in one of the banks the women rob, Hank's life is turned upside down!

A bunch of women? Hank could hardly believe it. These were no ordinary bank robbers. No, that would be a crime in itself to even try to call them that - these were simply she-devils on heels. Hank could tell.

This is a sweet romance, with funny, laugh out loud parts, and will keep you wondering exactly what is going on until the very end.

And true to Ms. Welch's style, she does not disappoint with her beautifully descriptive writing. It will make you feel like you are in the story.

As soon as their feet touched a field filled with overgrown grass, the moon seemed to claim the sky, blasting the night risers with energy and vigor. Crickets were singing, croaking bullfrogs were complaining. A slow, warm wind was blowing. Lightening bugs rose and fell like they were made of helium, in and out of the stalks of flourishing grass. An owl fluttered in a tree nearby, a soft whoo whoo floating above them every so often.

If you want a book that has it all, romance, suspense, humor, wonderful characters that will tug at your heart strings, then this book is for you! I highly recommend it!

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

As a young kid, Hank Rivers wanted to connect with the dead. Particularly Elvis - he was in Tupelo, the birth place of Elvis after all. He thought it would get him the girls. Unfortunately all it got him was to witness a double murder. He made a pact with is young best friends to hide the evidence and stay quiet about it.

Years later, after going to college and becoming a lawyer, Hank is back in Tupelo. Whilst going to the bank to get some needed cash, Hank gets more than he bargained for. He is again a witness to a crime, a bank robbery. And low and behold, he falls in love with one of them. He follows the gang from the bank and slams smack bang into Rotunda's chest, knocking him out. He wakes up with his brother Curly and a homeless man, wondering how and why? The next thing he sees is the girl from the bank - or is it? He's not sure without her wearing the mask. She befriends them and takes them to her establishment - Pistol Fanny's. It's a bar that performs skits and Hank can see one that's made for him and his Darlin' - Hank & Delilah. Hank then goes through a whole heap of emotions and turmoil while he follows Pistolette / Delilah wondering if they are the same woman who is robbing banks with her sisters.

This book starts out strong and had a mixture of Stand by Me, The Hangover and Sister Act all rolled into one which had me intrigued. At times I was a bit lost with all the characters and the different tangents the story line was going, but on the whole its was a good novel. I was rooting for Hank to find his "air" and finally get some resolution from his childhood.

I received an ebook from the author for an honest review.

You know how often people say never to judge a book or read a book by it's cover, well more often than not it's human nature to do so and Pistol Fanny's Hank and Delilah was one of those books that I read because I was drawn to the cover. I love this cover so much and have a cover crush on it. If you love those old Western movies with the whole Bonnie and Clyde theme going on or two of my all-time favourite movies "Best Men" and "The Newton Boys" where their are a band of brothers or best friends who become outlaws together by robbing banks, then this is the book for you. It starts with a young Hank telling the readers that apparently girls love the "green" aka the cold hard cash and that the only way he can get the cash is if he robs a bank. That night though, Hank and his best friends witness a murder take place with a shady judge. The novel then flicks to years later , after they have finished college and Hank's friend is getting married and they are all living the high life and most of them have moved from their little town. During this time we meet the Pistolettes , who are a duo female bank robbers and Hank ends up falling in love with one of them Delilah. Over time , Hank gets his dream and becomes along with Delilah - a Bonnie and Clyde type duo and become one of history's most famous criminals.

This was a fun read and if you love real crime stories but want a great fictional read instead , then check out Annie Rose Welch's "Pistol Fanny's Hank and Delilah" as you will not be disappointed.

** Contains Spoilers **

The funny thing about this book is that the title seems so strange, but the synopsis I read about the book sounded really fun and interesting and it did not disappoint.
The story intricately weaves the story of Hank & Delilah starting from their childhoods until they meet and fall in love as adults. Hank is your stand-up all-around good guy and a district attorney. Delilah is the woman he falls in love with and of course, a bank robber. That doesn’t stop the intense attraction the two feel.
I really loved the back stories on the characters and how it impacts them throughout their lives. Their love story is adorable and complicated. They manage to work through it to be together, but not without interference's from family, friends, “the devil’ and of course, some poisoned root beer.
I really enjoyed the story, but I have two issues with it. One, the title – it almost seems off-putting. Once you find out why the title is what it is, it makes sense, but it’s not a typical contemporary romance title, but then again, this isn’t your typical contemporary romance. The second thing that made me more confused than anything, were the multiple names the characters had, along with the voluminous amount of characters in general. Again, it made sense for the story, but that definitely did not help me get less confused at certain points in the book! Overall, the book is funny and sweet and well worth your time.

Amazing Writing and an Original Idea = ONE HELL OF A READ!!
.
Right from the start I knew I was being drawn into a story unlike anything I had read before. The story starts with a bang, well a few anyway, and just takes off from there. I was introduced to Hank Huckleberry Rivers and his interesting group of childhood friends. They are faced with a dangerous situation and must decide how to survive it and then handle it.
.
When repercussions from the secret in their past meet up with a vigilante group of female bank robbers, bullets will fly, as well as sparks, and you are taken on a sometimes hilarious, other times suspenseful ride. If you are a fan of classic and muscle cars, and just reading their descriptions totally does it for you, this story is for you. If you love romance mixed with mystery and suspense, this story is for you.
.
Annie Welch does a phenomenal job of catching you from the start and just drawing you deeper into her web of words. When reading of Hank and his friends as kids, you could see each of their quirks in your head, and reminisce back to that time in your life and the adventures you had. Sometimes it felt like you were back in the early 1900’s Wild West. I love reading her books and this was no exception. This book is so creative and different that I highly recommend it to everyone.

I read the blurb and just had to dive right in.
And boy am I glad I did because the book was a scream, it was stuffed and I do mean completely stuffed with a sea of characters that were hands down the funniest cast compilation that I have read in a very long time.
The got the feeling that this was sort of an adult version of picking and being on the right team, it was Hank and his mates on one side and Delilah and her girls on the other and believe me I would happily be on either side they were superb!
Events witnessed as a kid had shaped the path that Hank’s life had taken and now he is the responsible District Attorney.
Delilah on the other hand well she and her cohorts weren’t quite so upstanding.
But while the circumstances of their meeting may have been far from either ideal or conventional the outcome well that is a completely different story – and the events stemming from that will bring a smile to not only their faces but yours.
The story was eccentric and engaging, it had enough light and dark, it was super funny when required but didn’t skimp on the emotion when necessary, much like life, nothing is or has been perfect.
While I loved the characters in the whole, I have to say that the star of the show (the character that stole my heart –with all his canine charm) was Freud.

Pistol Fanny's Hank & Delilah by Annie Rose Welch is a true delight to read. I love the interaction between the two main characters of Hank & Delilah. Of course the story would not be complete with out the rest of the gang - Curly, Pistol, and Freud. This book has it all mystery, suspense, romance, action, intrigue and a lot of hilarious moments.

As children Hank Huckleberry Rivers and his friends witnessed several murders which leads him into becoming the District Attorney of Tupolo, Mississippi. While in the bank Hank finds himself in the center of a bank robbery. And the robbers are women. What's a guy who has dedicated his life to putting the bad guys away to do? Why fall totally and helplessly in love of course.

Ms. Welch's writing is amazing. It's full of so mush heart and detail that you feel like your right there with the characters going through everything they are. It's a total thrill ride. I loved it and want more to the story.

You have got to read this book!!!

Okay... so this book was really nothing like I expected, at all. It also is a type of story that's super out of my comfort zone as a reader. That's kind of why I chose it though. This was also my first book by Annie Rose Welch. While her writing is very to the point and easy to follow, the story at times was just lagging and I found myself skimming ahead to make sure something else was going to happen soon...

Overall it was a pretty enjoyable book - although hard to follow at times. By the end, I was caught up and felt like all the story lines came full circle, so that was nice. The story follows the life events of Hank and Delilah - from childhood until they meet and fall for each other. You get literally the FULL story on them both - I feel like I know them well. This book was not lacking in character development, for these two anyway. I feel like some of the extra characters could of been cut out - some of them just didn't make sense or fit into the story well enough to be mentioned and it was confusing to keep up with them all. (I'm terrible with names as it is!)

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. My first one, woohoo!

Overall: a very unique and interesting read. There were some grammatical errors throughout that drove me bonkers, and I think the plot would have been stronger with fewer characters. It got very confusing to try to keep up with everyone and simultaneously focus on the story, and even at the end there were a few characters that I just couldn't remember their contribution to the plot. This was frustrating because I felt like I needed to have kept a running tally of who everyone was just to make sense of it all. For those reasons I'm giving the book 3 stars.

Once you adjust to the vocabulary and style of writing, it's an entertaining read and there are sections where you will laugh out loud. Definitely unlike anything I had ever read before and I enjoyed seeing how things turned out for Hank and Delilah. Glad I won this book.

This book is crazy, You will have to concentrate when reading it ,but it is well worth it. Everything is turned the opposite way to a "normal" book. I am not even sure what genre I would put it in. It is a romance that is more like a dangerous obsession. It is a mystery but we know who done it.
Our heroine is the leader of a band of bank robbers (or is she?) . Our hero is an honest man who goes waaay of the rails. There is a group of boys who witnessed a double murder. This will affect them all their lives. There is a family who have been affected by a vicious man and need revenge. The two separate groups both have some very strange characters. Absolutely nuts but great fun. Even the dog is a great character and may be the only one that is sane.
I loved it ,but do not expect a relaxing read.

Review
4 pistols

This is one of the hardest reviews to date. I was so interested in reading this story. I really liked the premises of the story. The main characters were funny and endearing. Where my love for the book stops is with all the minor characters. There were so many and some had similar names I felt that I should have been taking notes. I also found, for lack of a better word, the lingo and phrasing distracting.

If you like a story with lots of detail and description, you will love this book. You can not help but fall in love with Hank, he is such a good guy in a story with many bad guys. Pistollette is a very complex character that will keep you guessing till the end.

Pistol Fanny's (Hank & Delilah) Anni Rose Welch 4 Stars

This book is one hell of a journey! it's quite a lengthy and enjoyable read. I have to say I haven't read a book like this one before. The title of this book intrigued me and drew me in.

Hank and his friends witness a double murder when they are young hiding in treehouse, Hank is now a district attorney. Pistolette/Delilah is the lady that Hank falls in love with at first sight, of course she is also one amazing pistol shooting bank robber.

This book is fun, humorous with lots of adventure thrown in, there's quite a lot going on throughout and so many different characters to follow. At times I found the characters a little hard to keep up with, but 'Freud' has to be my favourite he is amazing ! A great read, with a really good ending.

This is the first time reading anything by this author ,but I do have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. It was hilarious with a twist of mystery thrown in. Some of the things say and done in the story had me laughing out loud through this whole story. This story starts with an exciting beginning that never sways from that, as you're introduced to Hank and his very interesting childhood friends. Their faced with an dangerous situation that they must all over come, there is also secrets from their past they must also deal with. They meet up with a group of woman who just happens to be bank robbers ( which I though was funny ) I could go on and tell you more about this great story ,but that would spoil this story for you. I highly recommend you read this great story, you won't be disappointed.
