Peter has built his life with precision. A thriving career, a passionate relationship with his girlfriend Jane, and a future worth protecting.
Then he meets Zoe.
Mysterious, ruthless, and impossibly attuned to his desires, Zoe doesn’t just step into Peter’s life—she dismantles it. And by the time Peter comes face-to-face with his mistakes, every secret he’s buried has become a weapon waiting to be used against him.
As the knives come out and his carefully constructed life begins to collapse, Peter is forced to confront a devastating His greatest nightmare isn’t losing everything he has. It’s the fear that he never deserved it in the first place. But while Peter fights for redemption, Jane is fighting for something else The truth. And the closer she comes to uncovering it, the more she realises that the greatest deception may not be the betrayal itself—but the lies she tells herself to stay trapped in the past.
A Changed Man is a gripping psychological romantic thriller about obsession, betrayal, and the difficult road to redemption. Perfect for readers who enjoy emotionally charged suspense, unforgettable twists, and complex characters who discover that the hardest person to escape is the one staring back in the mirror.
Intense drama of pathological lies, that plumbs in the depths of victimhood, perpetrators and rescuers. Gripping, twisting, disquieting thriller that had my jaw open from page one. As I sifted through the ever-turning events, the truth buried deep was even more revealing than the thriller itself. This being his debut, David writes like a seasoned writer taking us on a fast paced journey of Peter Gallant & Jane—his girlfriend. Stuck in ennui already(?) he's chasing that elusive high that promises an orgasmic thrum in his pulse.
“‘When we reach the knife’s edge of a true impasse, we have a choice—we can change, or we can die.’”
And he finds it in a serendipitous meet-cute at the airport with Zoe. Enigmatic, mysterious and enticing eyes lure him in. Her addictive personality is the exact thing he was looking for. Thus begins the clandestine affair, secret rendezvous, lies, betrayals, guilt, romps in faraway estates. Fate is smiling in Peter's favor, it seems. He's having his cake and eating it too. Floating a newfound happy cloud, world drifts away from him in a blissful ignorance. His gluttonous Lust takes him away from his firm, his business, his home with Jane and he doesn't give a flying fcuk. Then the gods spit in his face
“ ‘Peter, you seem very committed to ruining your life.’ ‘That’s not foolish’, Jane continued, her voice tinged with disgust. ‘That’s self-destructive.’ The accusation struck with surgical precision.”
His house of cards collapses on everything he owns. Business, domestic bliss, finances. He gets the hot potato In a Manila envelope that legit drops his heart into his feet. First comes shock. Then panic. Then anger. Then scrambling. Then the guilty acceptance
“‘The Second Circle of Hell is the realm of divine punishment for lust and adultery.’”
I won't give anything further because spider web needs to experienced by all blindfolded. All I can say is that it's a Book written by a man, about a man, describing a typical man. They cheat because they can. And if they don't, they surely give themselves a medal
“ He had only window shopped, after all. He hadn’t sampled any of the wares, as tempting as some of them had been.”
Karma is sitting on top corner of every page you'll read, actively sipping her toxic tea. You WILL want everything bad coming for Peter. You WILL have loads of sympathy for Jane. You WILL wish all the evils befall upon "Zoe" But you will NOT believe who the REAL culprits are!! Even though we know halfway through what exactly is happening, it doesn't take away from the Rah-Rah feeling you feel by the most satisfying ending. The best part, or angstiest for me was the couples therapy scenes. I did tear up in them. NGL. Never expected to find this oasis in chaos filled storm. But I understand the need to improve for thyself. The self-enrichment episode was something I didn't know that I needed to come full circle for them. Review of advance copy received from Author Receiving this arc does not in any way shape or form alter my opinions or rating of this novel. This psychological thriller really got me! I have not really had a novel of this genre really have such an impact on me as much as this one has. I found myself saying "one more chapter" and finished the novel in one day! This novel felt like I was watching a documentary/ tv show not reading! There were no moments that I felt were predictable. It was as if every ending of the chapter ended in a way that it was impossible to put the book down. If you're looking for something to read that is going to play tricks on your mind definitely read this. I cannot wait to see the next novels this author writes next.
