When my friends and I have a night out to grab coffee and chat, or a group busy married mamas get anytime alone to talk, sex and marriage ALWAYS comes up in the conversation. We talk about struggles, exhaustion, and the feeling that we are pulled in 20,000 different directions with hardly anything leftover for our dear husbands. I love this book for being a resource to women who need a little encouragement in regaining their "umph."

Hot Mama is thirteen chapters in length that you can almost get through in one sitting. Kathy Lipp and Erin Macpherson make you feel like are you sitting with your friends and getting some honest and practical advice to feel like a "Hot Mama" again. They offer online tools, and a free study guide should you feel like you want to discuss this book in a Bible study or small group. (I would caution here that some chapters in this book may lead to oversharing...tread carefully). They also include a Q&A from "sexperts" that might answer lingering questions you have had, but were afraid to ask. Their experts include an OBGYN, a marriage and family therapist, a marriage counselor, and two pastors.

I would recommend this book to any woman who feels like they are struggling in this area and really would like some honest advice from a trusted source. The good news is, you can purchase this book as an ebook and avoid any embarrassment at the checkout! I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I have not been compensated in any way.

I was pretty excited when I saw "Hot Mama: 12 Secrets To A Sizzling Marriage" was up for review! This book is written by Kathi Lipp and Erin Macpherson - I have read books or pieces from both authors and enjoyed them, so I was interested to see how they addressed the issue of having a good sex life as a mom.

First off, I think this book is helpful not just for current "hot mamas", but for any married lady who wants to improve her sex life, whether she has kids already or not. A lot of the chapters and advice could be applied to more general married life situations, not just the "married with kids" category.

I've read a couple other Christian books on sex, and I would say that this one is a good, comfortable one to start with if you have never really thought about reading a book on sex. Macpherson and Lipp cover a lot of common issues or concerns in a non-threatening, friend-to-friend kind of tone, without getting terribly explicit on the details. I also really liked that the authors encourage talking to other trusted, Christian "hot mamas" to keep each other accountable in not letting sex become infrequent or boring in our marriages.

The only negative I have with this book was that I felt like a few of the answers in the Q&A sections were a little too generalized or vague - but for the scope of this book, the answers were still appropriate, and there were some other resources given for people who want more in-depth answers.

The only answer that I felt was inadequate was a question addressing what is morally appropriate within a Christian marriage - the answer basically said that as long as husband and wife are both comfortable with something, it is okay. I disagree with that, because there are some things that are not permissible in the sex lives of married Christians ever, regardless of the level of comfort of the husband and wife - like p.orn or three.somes, for example. It may seem like listing these things would be stating the obvious, but in today's sex-saturated culture, I don't think it necessarily is. So I wish that answer had been more specific.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and whether you are a mom trying to figure out how to make your sex life with your husband happen, or a wife hoping for a little encouragement to be more outgoing in the sexual aspect of your marriage, this book is a great one to ease you into getting things going.

Note: I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher in exchange for a review. This is my honest opinion.

Hot Mama: 12 Secrets to a Sizzling Hot Marriage
'What are you doing reading a book called "Hot Mama"?' That is the first question that popped into my mind. It sounds sexy and isn't sexy bad according to Christians? NO! Wrong! Sexy is not bad. It's good, and according to Kathi Lipp and Erin MacPherson, authors of "Hot Mama: 12 Secrets to a Sizzling Hot Marriage", we need to throw out the guilt and get rid of our 'good girl' issues. What do they mean by that? Well, you'll just have to read the book and find out more. However, I'll share a little of my impressions after reading their book.

This book is for mothers and wives through a Christian perspective. It is for those that are so caught up in life that their private times with their hubby is as mundane as folding laundry or as frequent as a dental cleaning. It is about building a happy, fun and healthy relationship with your husband, which includes the intimacy between a man and wife. Sex is a gift from God and it should be viewed as such. He wants us to enjoy, have fun and through this act of love solely for each other, deepen the connection. "Hot Mama" will share and support this thought and truth.

Ms. Lipp and Ms. MacPherson was spot on with all the points that is key to a 'hot' & "sexy' marriage and their respect to fellow females, mothers and Christians gets full points from me. This book covers confidence issues, preconceptions, new ways to heat things up and to stay that way, emotional and physical connection, balancing family and wife duties, while strengthening your relationship with your husband and honoring God in the process.

As bonus, the end includes questions by fellow "hot mamas" and answered by "sexperts" and panel of other "hot mamas". With personal testimonies and insights throughout the book, Ms. Lipp and Ms. MacPherson gave fellow females something to think about and look forward to. "Hot Mama" is not racy or embarrassing (though at first, the title and cover suggest otherwise - at least for me). It is anything but, and truly enlightening and encouraging. A book for all married females.

Title: Hot Mama: 12 Secrets to a Sizzling Hot Marriage

Author: Kathi Lipp and Erin MacPherson

Genre: Christian, Marriage, Women, Self-Help, Sex

Plot: One of the fun things about being happily married is being able to read delicious books I normally wouldn't buy at all. I mean, who needs a marriage book if they're not married?

Two authors who've already established themselves and been around the block once or twice team up to answer women's questions about sex, marriage and how to get/keep the heat in their relationship - especially on those days that drag by and the kids or chores or workload leave you exhausted. With an understanding nod, a little encouragement and a nudge in the right direction, these funny and honest authors give you the boost you need to pick up the strings, lock the bedroom door and get back to bare basics like you used to do and still secretly long for. Laid out in a simple easy to understand way, this book is a breeze to read and so wonderful! There are tips, tricks, funny stories, a list of questions and answers at the back, lots of helpful advice and a really fun bucket list at the end of each chapter that should give you some ideas to try out. I personally can't wait to put some of those ideas into action.

Likes/Dislikes: My husband was skeptical when I got this book but I'm pretty sure he won't complain too much when I start making it work for him. *wink* I love the cover and the layout; the advice was pretty sound, very God-honoring and some of the stories and word choice were so funny. I kept giggling while reading it which my husband eventually tuned out. I did get him to tell me his five favorite things about my body so now I wiggle my toes at him all the time. I kinda wish there had been a little more attention to homeschooling moms who can't exactly escape for a nooner when the kids are in school but that's okay; we're creative.

Rating: PG-18 and up, mainly for content {it's a marriage book after all}.

About the Book:
"These hot mamas tell you how you can stop feeling 'whatever' about sex and start feeling 'woo-hoo!'"--Sheila Wray Gregoire, author of The Good Girl's Guide to Great Sex

It's easy for us moms to slip into the habit of letting the craziness of our days interfere with our relationships with our husbands. We simply don't have the energy or the ideas for a spicy, satisfying sex life. We're usually just amazed we made it to the end of the day without collapsing or throttling someone.

Hot Mama to the rescue!

In this witty book, hot mamas Kathi Lipp and Erin MacPherson share hilarious stories and creative ideas from moms everywhere to help you build a relationship with your spouse that's happy, healthy, and fun. From building confidence and banishing guilt to flirting (remember that?) and wearing clothes that get you--and him--in the mood, Kathi and Erin show you how to take your sex life from ho-hum to sizzling hot.

My Review:
After you start having children and you care for babies non stop. It is just really difficult to turn that off in order to be intimate with your husband especially at the end of a very long day that never seems to end. And after years of this seemingly harmless neglect our marriage starts to develop cracks that sometimes turn into big canyons that a lot of times don't recover.

Luckily for us the authors written this book to help with those private times with your husband that seem to wain after the kids. After 21 years of marriage, you have to be intentional with being with your spouse and I will go ahead and say it, possibly a majority of the days out of the week. And yes I mean it.

The authors guide you through the different items and situations to retrain your thinking and help you realize that you do indeed love this time with your better half. At the end of each chapter they have included a A Hot Mama Pledge, Real Hot Mama Ideas, and Hot Mama "Good Girl Syndrome" Bucket List. My favorite are the suggestions on the bucket list. I have even tried a few of these before. We need sizzle ladies and this is the book for it!

First of all: I'm not a mom. Second of all: This book was still awesome. So, even if your like me and kids are *hopefully* a ways down the road, this book has some awesome advice. Sitting down with Hot Mama was like having an awesome session of girl talk with a best girl friend.

Kathi and Erin jump right into all the tough and embarrassing issues and face them straight-up. I loved the honesty, openness, and creative problem solving for all types of issues, from: I gained ten pounds and there's NO way I'm feeling sexy so my husband certainly won't find me sexy either, to "Yikes! Sex hurts!", to handling simple fatigue and learning how great times with your husbands can come out of the those nights where the only thing you want to do is drool on your pillow and get some Zs. Best of all, this book is really fun, and it makes you want to tackle your husband and try some new things. Now, who can argue with that?

One of the reasons this book was so refreshing and helpful was that in church-culture sex talk is avoided like the plague outside of, "Never do it! … Unless your married." News flash: Even Godly women need to talk about sex. While I certainly agree that waiting until marriage to be intimate is a really special and important thing, sometimes it's really nice to hear what other women are thinking and to find out how other women have dealt with sex-related problems. This book is not a porno and it is by no means inappropriate. It is an honestly written, open, and classy discussion about how to improve your relationship with your husband.

Basically, I loved this book, and while some of the suggestions and chapters in here are definitely for moms with demanding babies or nosy teenagers, it really has some fabulous advice for us baby-less ladies. I recommend Hot Mama.

I've decided at age 64 I was probably a little too old to be reviewing a book called "Hot Mama."
But KATHY LIPP and ERIN MACPHERSON did a great job on a book that may be needed today as in our culture the truth about sex has been distorted. The full title is Hot MAMA 12 SECRETS TO A SIZZLING HOT MARRIAGE; do I have anyone's attention yet?

There is a Hot Mama pledge, Hot Mama Ideas and Hot Mama bucket ideas interspersed throughout the book. Good points about preconceived ideas are in one paragraph written by Erin which says, "...I've (obviously) worked past that (thank you, good Christian counselors), but my preconceived notions about sex were really damaging to our early relationship. And I'd venture to guess that the preconceived notions of many women---weather they were learned from parents, movies, magazines, books or friend---have been damaging to the their marriages.
You can't change the way you were taught about sex, and you certainly can't change the stigmas that come with the "thou shalts" or the "you shoulds" that you've heard about sex, but you can start to look at sex differently and in the way God see it."

I was already a fan of Kathi Lipp, (www.kathilipp.com) as I've heard her on some radio programs before and I subscribe to several of her newsletters. She and Erin Macpherson (ChristianMamasGuide.com) make a great writing team.

Some added bonuses were "Ask Our Sexperts" and "Girlfriend to Girlfriend Q & A." I loved that the book ended with tips from real-life "hot mamas" the kind that the authors say they trust as opposed to those online or in magazines and other resources to continue on your "Hot Mama" journey. Who knows, even at age 64 there may still be hope for some sizzle in our house and that doesn't mean I'm frying bacon again.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

While reading Hot Mama I could tell that Kathi & Erin must have had a lot of fun working on this novel together. It is light, fun and informative. It was definitely a quick and easy enjoyable read. I love that they talk about how it is okay for women to enjoy ourselves in the bedroom with our husbands and not feel yucky or ashamed. They talk about life, family and everything else going on around us and how we should make time to have special time with our husbands to strengthen the bonds between each other. Sex is not a sin and is not just for men, God intend women and men to both enjoy it together. Tips on how to feel a lot sexier for our husbands is also discussed throughout the book.

Each chapter was written by one of the ladies and at the end of the chapter there are three things for the reader to think about or do: A Hot Mama Pledge, Real Hot Mama Ideas and Hot Mama Bucket List. The ladies give the readers ideas on how to put a little fun and passion into our relationships and talk about how to achieve a stronger bond with your partner. This book is geared for women, hence the title Hot Mama but I am sure your husband will enjoy some of the book also. I read some of it out loud to mine and he would ask so when are you thinking we should try this or he would laugh out loud with some of it.

I really enjoyed this fun read and would recommend it to any Christian Hot Mama who isn't feeling so hot at the moment. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

I always find very interesting the way christian writers deal with sex, in a marriage context of course, and the way it can improves the love life of the couples. Mostly this book is well written, emphatic and full of suggestion, still I can't avoid having the feeling that I have already read it most of it because I already read some other book on the same argument.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND REVELL FOR THE PREVIEW!

As moms we often fall into the pattern of yoga pants and pony tails. With everything on our plate we often fall into bed exhausted with little interest in keeping our marriage hot. But our marriage should be our first priority. Our husbands should come first on our list. So the two authors polled friends and used their own experiences to co-author a book about how to keep the romance sizzling hot in your marriage.

This book was entertaining. But it also had some useful and practical information. My husband enjoyed my reading it as well. =) The authors shared stories, advice, and Biblical knowledge to show woman that they are important and their marriage is important. I appreciated how they talked about each person being unique and special. This would be a great book to give as a shower gift or to the mom who is in the midst of raising her children.

I'm already a huge fan of both the authors. I've read Kathi's books in the past and I am currently on the launch team for TWO of her other new books this winter (Clutter Free, Happy Habits for Every Couple). Erin has some hilarious mothering books that always get 5 stars from me. So really, all you need to know: pick this one up.

This quick e-book is a must buy for any married couple. Sometimes you just need a reminder/encourager/handbook for igniting passion in your marriage. These two honest, awesome ladies offer quick, intimate and practical ideas for keeping it all fun. The book shares 10 challenges to get you started or getting the creative juices flowing. It's easily a resource you can come back to again and again.

Once again I have the challenge of describing an awesome book I've read (a hot challenge to be sure), and I feel completely unable to describe just how awesome it is. I know it's a lot to say take my word for it, but here I am a reviewer who knows what she loves about books but who is short on writing skills to describe it. I will say I felt the authors definitely covered it all and in a way that was fun and challenging. We want the best for our marriages and Kathi and Erin show us how to get past obstacles that may stand in the way of one of the best gifts God has given us in marriage- sex! Even if you think you've got it all figured out, you'll still learn from this book and enjoy it in the process.

I’ve read a lot of books about marriage and relationships. And if you asked me for a favorite title, I could name several. But when it comes to books about marital intimacy, I haven’t found many that I could really recommend. Until now. I have not yet finished reading Hot Mama, but so far it’s exactly the kind of book I’d want to share with my married mama friends. In a lighthearted tone, Kathi and Erin encourage you not to accept the status quo: tired mama with a never-ending headache. Their advice is Scripturally sound and spot on. Order yourself a copy. Trust me: it is an investment in your marriage.

Hot mama is a book written from a Christian perspective for women (not just moms in my opinion) about how to spice up their life with their husbands. They give practical advice, challenges at the end of each chapter and advice from other women that helped them with the book. In addition they share examples of personal real life experiences.
I found the book very interesting and easy to read. I would recommend this book to married women whether they are a mom or not. The ladies offer good sound advice with a Christian perspective.

Most mothers understand the concept of feeling exhausted and having very little left to share with their husbands. Kathi Pipp and Erin Macpherson, in the book Hot Mama: 12 Secrets to a sizzling hot marriage, share how to help keep your relationship hot. These two put such a humorous touch on this topic, yet they are able to touch all tired-out mamas. They use proberb and tips from all over to show how to revive that feeling from newlywed days.

Great book. I was given this book by Revell books in exchange for my honest review.

This book definitely has a target audience: Christian, married, moms. If you fit that niche, read this book. It's short; it's funny; it's honest. Sex gets hidden in the church, but it's not hidden in our culture. How do we balance that and find what God intended? A good first step is remembering you're not the only one trying to get it right.

I'm glad I picked this up (and I think my husband is too)

This book is a refreshing, frank discussion about sex within marriage--specifically for moms. However, as I read it I thought many times, "That applies to anyone in a marriage. Whether they are parents or not!"
I appreciated the vulnerability from the authors as well as the humor sprinkled in to make an "awkward" subject easier to discuss. I truly felt as though I were on their couch, enjoying coffee with a friend who loves God & loves their husbands!
This is a must read for any mama!

Hot Mama is a good book for any woman that wants to add sizzle and spice to their marriage. I like that it is written by two authors because if you don't relate to one of them you'll relate to the other. Erin and Kathi throw out all the religious misconceptions and remind readers that sex is necessary for married men and women on a regular basis.
