Captured by the Alien King: The Complete Series is a collection of the five part serial CAPTURED BY THE ALIEN KING. This book is a complete, standalone novel.
When I saw my chance to get off Earth, I took it. I knew I needed to escape. I didn't know I'd be claimed by an alien monarch in the middle of his mating season! Now we're on the run together, facing terrorists and natural disasters.
I'm still trying to figure out my feelings for this sexy guy. He is totally into me, but he has some unique ideas about alien romance...
I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly thought this book was going to be something different than it was. The title is a flat out lie—I’ll just say it. The main character is never “captured” by an alien king. It simply doesn’t happen. Going into this book, I didn’t know that, and it threw me off—because I kept waiting for something to happen that never did.
It's hard for me to qualify this book because, on the one hand, I did enjoy it. it was a fast-paced, easy to read book, with likable characters, some fresh ideas, and an intriguing plot. The romance between Dar and Kenna was at times endearing, and at other times, incredibly steamy. I liked them as a couple and I was rooting for them throughout the story. There's a lot I could say in favor of this book. I was thoroughly entertained.
But...
There was also quite a bit about this book that was less than stellar. There were some pretty obvious typos, most commonly where words were entirely omitted from sentences, or extra words were left in. There were several times I had to re-read passages to make sure I wasn't imagining the fact that they didn't make sense--and I didn't imagine it. The characters, though likable, lacked much depth, and in some cases, their motivations seemed fairly shallow.
In other instances it became very apparent that the world building was only skin deep--and this was one of the most frustrating parts of the story for me. Here was this imaginative story about aliens from another world and the tentative relationship between two races... but the aliens looked just like us, talked just like us, had the same motivations as us...and spoke like us. They often used slang and phrases that I can't imagine would naturally occur on another planet so readily. The world building had very little substance to it—and it could have, and indeed should have. It felt... lazy, and I expected more.
Was it a bad book? No. Like I said, I thoroughly enjoyed it... but it was only an "okay" book in the end because I think a lot more could have been done to make it better than it was—obvious, simple things. I gave this book three stars because it was kind of in the middle. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, kind of fluffy romance read with some steamy bits and lots of action/adventure, I'd recommend you give this book a shot. You may enjoy it.
Fast paced Sci-Fi Romance with a number of plot twists. I was seriously expecting the usual romance novel. Not so, the lead characters reflected much of the attitude of developed nations towards the third world countries. The thoughtful nugget about racism of advanced alien cultures toward Earth was a surprise and a delight. If you're not into thoughtful moments, don't worry, it's a fun read anyhow.
adventurous challenging dark emotional hopeful mysterious reflective sad tense medium-paced Plot- or character-driven? A mix Strong character development? Yes Loveable characters? Yes Diverse cast of characters? Yes Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated 4.5 ⭐️
Audiobook (audible) -
Xuhl 4.75⭐️ - what a series opener, Athena is captured by an alien race that auctions females off to other aliens. Xuhl while working for an agency to shut down the illegal activity, rescues Athena from her new owner and takes her along his mission. Throughout the mission, Xuhl and Athena’s attraction for each other grows stronger and stronger. Athena helps Xuhl complete his mission and rescue the human females.
Crex 3.5⭐️ - Crex and Pipers story starts at the same time as Xuhl and Athena’s at the auction. These two develop a mating link but Crex is suspicious given her hair color doesn’t match what he was told his mates hair color would be. This story has another strong female character that does a lot more than one would expect given her past. Timeline goes past where book 1 started. Overall story is decent given minor questionable character actions.
Yce 4.25⭐️ - Diana and Yce story starts after book 1 and 1/3 of the way through book 2 where they all paired up and separated. Yce messed with Diana’s memories so she didn’t know or remember that they spent the entire time together in the ships cage. Throughout the book Yce’s honesty of what he’s done to her mixed with Diana’s past causing extreme hurt and fear from her past resurface. As they continue on to an outpost they grow closer with Yce not understanding her lack of logical responses and Diana being worried he’ll take control of her mind again.
Kyris 5⭐️- book starts at the ship break apart 1/4 into book 3 with Kyris and Song’s story. Kyris immediately knows he’s got a deeper connection and attraction tot he human female since the moment shes thrown into his cage. Feeling a sense of protection for the female named Song he sticks close and does everything he can to not only protect her but give her the best he can while they’re stuck injured on the planet after the ship crash. They have the added menstrual time issue and the creatures attracted to the smell of blood. Love that this series didn’t stray away from exploring that aspect of human female anatomy. Book has the most adorable ending of the series thus far.
Kyro 5⭐️ - starts at the conclusion of the last book. This book covers the mating between Kyro and Evran while on a base station. There is also the added chapters from the abductors POV adding to the drama and fears. This book seems to wrap up the evil gator races leader and possible threat against the humans in the alien worlds. We also learn about Kyro’s biggest secret and why he’d been keeping Evran at a distance and trying hard to fight his growing feelings for her.
This book is a compilation of 5 books that were originally released separately. I’m glad they combined them because the pace of this story was much better than had it been broken up. Dar is the King of his planet. Kenna is a human that was working on a desolate planet with other farm workers, tending to crops. She’s happy to be there. Their paths cross when Dar goes to Dobu hoping to secure a peace treaty with a group of people that turn out to be terrorists. Peace was the furthest thing from their minds when they landed.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s an interesting idea, that humans and several other alien races are all from the same race. Some have evolved more than others. And yes, humans actually devolved. I’m sure they based this on watching our news. ;-) Dar has to confront his own hypocrisy and racism against humans when Kenna points it out to him. It hit him like a ton of bricks, but it’s nice to see individual growth in a character. I loved Kenna, so refreshing to have a strong female lead where the author didn’t mistake bitchiness for strength. You know who was a massive bitch? Dar’s mom! Woah.
There were some great passages. . . "I swore I would protect you when we made love the first time, and I meant it. I would do anything for you. I would follow you to the end of the universe. I would kill to protect you. I would die to save you. I love you, Kenna, and I always will."
"You don't have to say anything, Kenna. If you don't feel the same, that is all right. It won't change how I feel. Nor would I take back my words. Now I can die because I have no regrets." He looked up then at the approaching fire, then back down to me. "One regret. I would have enjoyed loving you for a lifetime."
Oh my heart . . .
If you like Scifi romance, you’ll like this book. Give it a chance.
They have chemistry together. He is King of his race of aliens who believe Earthlings are beneath his race. Kenna is a single woman who wants more out of her life so she travels off world and the adventure begins!
In a matter of days Kenna breaks Dar's racist beliefs and changes him forever. The couple are thrust into danger and have to trust each other in order to save their lives. They both must overcome fears and turmoil surrounding their lives.
After going through multiple trials by fire, both figuratively and literally, the couple realize they have deep feelings for each other. Will they overcome everything to get their happily ever after? Read this story and you will see..
Trust me, the story is well written and worth every second of your time to read. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it highly!
I liked this book very much. it had some thought provoking moments. I love when humans come up against racism from aliens who think they are superior. just desserts and teachable moments all in one.
The planet Kenna is working on is attacked by human terrorists. She ends up helping the king of a human like alien race escape. And though they fall in insta love, humans are an inferior race and there should be no consorting. This was just really boring...lots going on but I found myself skimming through most of it so I quit around 70%
Keena seizes an offer to leave Earth and her dead-end job, to go to an alien world and help grow crops for an over-populated Earth. Dar has scheduled a meet with Earth terrorists to try to reach a settlement. Unfortunately, the meet is scheduled where Keena and her group are working (they're early) and the terrorists have anything but peace on their minds.

I really enjoyed this fast paced Sci-fi romance that kept me on my toes with the action and adventure. Plenty of drama that revolves around the racism from aliens who think they are superior to humans. I can not wait to read the Mated to the Alien king series to see what Kenna and Dar have been up to. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a different story. Here we have this "elitist" alien falling for a mere human woman. I love how Kenna is able to open this alien king's eyes. And I love how Dar comes to realize that there is nothing he won't do for her once his eyes have been opened. This is a good read and I'm looking forward to reading Mated to the Alien King.
A well-written action packed story full of love and suspense. Dar and Kenna prove their love time after time, even though Dar is Susohnnan and Kenna is a lowly human. Both are of The Great Race but never to intermingle.....love will find a way. Great story.
4.5 stars Lots of action, couldn't put the book down! Loved how Kenna was strong and not brainless... Dar was great as well. I like how the author showed up ingrained prejudices without sounding 'preachy'. Really enjoyed this book.
All you wanted was adventure. Kenna has one shot at getting off Earth so she applies for a job on another planet this is what she needs. Her life is boring, her job is boring, her apartment is tiny and she has no family left. Her life is going to take a big change in direction and her adventure is going to be wild. Dar is the King of his people, so he needs to set a good example and he knows that he needs to get the terrorist group on earth under control before more damage is caused. He needs to make peace with them so he needs to go off planet to meet them. He goes to a party and he meets Kenna, they both don't know anything about each other, other than they are attracted to each other. The sparks fly in many direction, they have to escape off the planet so that Dar isn't killed, they get lost in space and Dar's mother wants Kenna gone. So they have a wild ride but can they get a happy ending as Dar is a alien King and Kenna is human? A great story.
4.5 I really liked the plot of the story and the characters were pretty good, but I had some issues with the main character, Kenna. She was an independent, smart, beautiful woman, but she was so obsessed with not feeling that way that it was just frustrating. She was the most knowledgable of the crew yet all she thought about was the little weight she lost on the trip to the new planet and how she was always deserted in love. Yes, I understand that it's is normal to have these feelings, but at the same time, she held onto them with everything she got until the very end! Both her and Dar were likeable, but the supporting characters didn't bring much to the story. All in all, a good short read that will keep you guessing what else could wrong.

The story was definitely different than any i have ever read of an alien/human romance. The rituals, the rules and the ideas have been shattered with this series.
The story starts far in the future. Dar is king of his world and they don't believe in violence and believe they are a higher and better race than humans. But when he meets Kenna and she helps him escape death , he realizes maybe his believe are wrong.
In a universe with so much against them, they fight to be together and live all through all the problems thrown at them. The action is fast paced, but the story sort of moves slow to the point but I love how the author has thought so far out of the box with this story
This complete series led me wondering exactly what "problem" was going to happen next. I still had questions I wish were answered in the end but it did leave the reader hanging with a cliffhanger. That cliffhanger leads into Mated to The Alien King so maybe the questions will be answered in it.
Note: There are potentially trigger points within the book. There are points where rape, fighting, death are involved or mentioned. This series is meant for over 18 due to adult content.
Captured by the Alien King - The Complete Series by Lisa Lace Adult? Sci-Fi Romance This one goes into the 'Reject' pile. It has some good moments, but mostly it is highly repetitive. No flow. The writing is amateur and very jejune. April 19, 2017 – Started Reading April 22, 2017 – Finished Reading
Sent books for an honest review. I loved this series great strong characters that dont have personality transplants half way through, no simpering females which is great. Kenna and Dar`s story is paced well and funny, Aliens that are prejudice to any race they deem less than themselves, only the King soon finds out that a human female has more honour than he expected and a body he wants to enjoy. Hopefully this wont be the end of these characters.
This was an enjoyable quick read. Not a very long book but not a short story either. This is a fairly predictable story line and characters don’t have a lot of depth. It goes from strangers of different backgrounds and species meet, have a one night stand, run into lots of obstacles, and eventually all is well and start a life together. I know this book continues on with main characters so hope they continue to evolve and characters have more depth and emotional growth. I plan on finding out.
So I took a chance on reading this book because I was really missing my IPB and Tamarians. And it was just as good. Dar and Kenna's love story was perfect. This was a beautiful start to a wonderful series. The way the Earth is in this series was really put together wonderfully. I can't wait to read more. The only person I really didn't like was Dar's mother, but that's to be expected.
I was pleasently suprised to find the storyline to this tale to stand out from the norm. The world created by Ms Lace is captivating which makes the characters even more loveable. I am curious to see where the relationship between Keena and Dar will go as they have reminded me what true love and sacrifice is about.
Very good, if you love to read about alien romance which I do? This is a book that has action and romance to keep your attention, that you don't want to stop reading? This a book for you, where you find love through time and space?
This was full of Suspense and Intrigue. This book had me on the edge of my seat and kept me wanting more. I look forward to the next installment. Highly Recommend this book for over 18.
I received a free copy of this ebook and I was pleasantly surprised! The characters are well-fleshed out, the action is interesting and fast-paced but what I probably found the most interesting was how cultural misunderstandings were addressed.
Loved this book. Love how social issues are discussed and showed out in this novel and how people can be biased without knowing it - and how that influence their behavior. Loved the fact that all the books are together in one and you can get the whole story to read.
