Time Winders: A Romantic Adventure Across Time

Rate this book
James is a retired widower feeling old, alone and useless in suburban southern California. With no friends or family to speak of, he’s resigned to a monotonous slog to the grave, which he feels can’t be far off.

Tanya is a Time Cop from the future. She enjoys the thrill of chasing bad guys through time, but especially loves the freedom and independence her job brings. Jumping through time, she has lovers, but no attachments, and likes it that way.

When Tanya’s carelessness (literally) drops her into James’ life, she must reluctantly bring him along in pursuit of a serial killer. James has a second chance to find purpose in life, but only if he can get into Tanya’s good graces.

Time is not on his side. Tanya will return him to his previous existence soon enough. Through James, Tanya discovers a deep yearning for love, but her pride and sense of duty stand in the way. Little do they know that someone from the future has other plans.

Find out how love, loyalty and friendship can change everything you thought you knew about destiny, in Time Winders.

This was a pretty awesome take on time traveling and the like, and I really enjoyed the perspective of the main character (an old man given his youth back by a time winder) — it was unique, which is something I always appreciate in a book :)

One of the things that I really loved was the fact that the main character had so many questions (as would be expected of someone who doesn’t believe time travel is possible at first), and the time winder often thinks the answer is obvious. Things like “Don’t you ever run into yourself?” getting answers like “Don’t be silly. There’s only one me.” (I didn’t realize this was part of the excerpt until after I chose this particular example, FYI)

It made for a very entertaining read; I’d definitely recommend this book for someone looking for a quick read!

I never thought that I would enjoy reading about time travel, but I enjoyed this book. From the very first page right to the end, the story draws you in. We are instantly thrown into the world of Tanya and James, who find themselves working together to catch a criminal. They have been brought together in the most unconventional way, and have to work in precarious circumstances after escaping a time device. Although they seem to be a mismatched pair, they become a good team and are firmly immersed in the world of Jumpers, Winders and Side Winders.
I found reading this book a breeze because it flowed naturally. It was funny how Tanya moved conveniently from one era to the next.
As James and Tanya continue to work together, Tanya discloses some secrets of time traveling to James.
The author adds a romantic twist to this story making the book even more unique. As love slowly sneaks up on them, there are decisions to be taken and sacrifices to be made. I think this is a good story; very entertaining. Those who are interested in this genre of books would love this one. It is gripping, vivid and compelling

Time Winders is a well-written, engaging tale of romance that kept me wondering what in the world was coming next. James and Tanya seem an unlikely match but their adventures through time, chasing the bad guys, highlight the reasons they work well together. This author’s use of obscure vocabulary, though not extensive, had me using the Kindle dictionary more than I like in a fictional read. Regardless, I found Time Winders to be an entertaining summer read. I especially enjoyed the wrap-up in the last chapter.
