As a daughter, an older sister, and now a hotel waitress, Abigail Peterson is used to taking care of everyone around her. When a nameless stranger collapses on the train platform and is brought to the Brody Hotel to recover, Abigail steps in to nurse her back to health.
Deputy Marshal Gabriel Hanks has seen a lot of violence in his life, and now he works every day to fight it. A man has been murdered, and it’s Gabe’s job to determine the innocent and prosecute the guilty. When that quest puts him at odds with the girl he’s growing to love, he has to choose between justice, mercy, and his heart.
In a world where right sometimes feels wrong and wrong sometimes goes unpunished, can these two come together to create a clear hope?
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
A sweet story of mystery and love! I don't usually read murder mysteries but if more were like this one maybe I would! When found in a difficult situation will the truth be discovered or will the wrong person be punished for the crime? Amidst the upheaval of the puzzling case, a new love blossoms but can it withstand the pressure?
I fell in love with the Kansas Crossroads series only a few pages into the first book. The characters are surprisingly well-rounded considering how short the books are and I find them all genuinely likeable. I've recently read some fiction and non-fiction about the Harvey House and Harvey Girls, I was struck right away by the similarities to the fictional hotel and restaurant, The Brody Hotel. The author did confirm that she based them on the Harvey House and Girls and it added an interesting layer of realism for me as I read the books. I definitely recommend all of the books in this series.
Amelia has such a glorious way with words. A charming story set in not 1 but 2 different cities and the adventures to be had by the characters involved. Fun times and a totally different take on a budding relationship. Nice!
Right from the opening page A Clear Hope will capture your attention. When a train passenger collapses immediately after stepping off the train she sets up a mystery to be solved. For this young woman doesn’t remember who she is, or what she may have done.
If you are also a Mystery reader you’ll find lots of delicious clues and hints scattered along the way in this story. No flashing red arrows, but if you watch for them you’ll do your own detective work along with Gabe and Abigail.
We’ve seen hints of the attraction between Abigail and Gabe through the earlier stories, but they haven’t really acted on them yet. Now those growing affections are going to be put to a very early test as it seems that Abigail and Gabe are on opposite sides in this mystery woman’s situation. Because there is a mystery in this story I don’t want to say too much, so I’ll let you discover their romance for yourself.
I enjoyed Gabe and Abigail’s story. The conflict they have isn’t as huge as either paints it, but actions do have consequences. I love the true historical people scattered about in this series. And I have to admit that Wyatt Earp is one of my personal favorites from the American past. True life is often stranger than fiction, but I do enjoy reading about him in just about anything… so it’s fun to see him here in Kansas Crossings. I would recommend A Clear Hope to any Western Historical Romance reader who enjoys a good story, likable characters and a continuous flow to an enjoyable series.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This fifth book of the Kansas Crossroads series is distinctly different. Abigail Peterson and Deputy Gabe set out for Wichita to solve a mystery. A woman arrived on the train with amnesia and the lawmen in Wichita think she killed her husband. Gabe and Amelia set out to find the truth. It's an interesting story.
Abigail helps out when a woman collapses after disembarking from the train. The woman has a nasty bruise on her head and can't remember anything about herself. Deputy Gabe gets a telegram and realizes the woman is a suspect in a murder and he needs to arrest her. Abigail insists on helping clear the woman's name, even if it means going out of town with the Deputy and solving the murder. It doesn't hurt that it requires spending more time with the handsome Deputy. If only they could get along again... This is a clean, sweet romance. I've been waiting for more between Abigail and Gabe since Jeanette's story. I'm a fan of mysteries so this book was a nice treat to have a bit more to it than just the everyday life at the Brody Hotel with a bit of romance. I definitely suggest reading this book.
I'm in love with the Kansas Crossroads series! This book did not disappoint. I loved the spunkiness, and determination of Abigail.. she really kept Gabe on his toes at times. Gabe was a determined deputy who secretly has been falling for Abigail and the funny, cute and passion that ran between them was pretty evident. The ending surprised me a bit but not in a bad way. It seems all of Brody Hotel's staff keeps getting hit by the " love bug" and there's always a character in each book that seem to stay on and replace the ones who have there happily ever after. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes clean, historical romance with some funny characters.
Dear Heavens without Olivia these books wouldn’t be near as fun. I love her. Now for the rest of the story- it was good, not as good as the last one but I did enjoy it. Margaret was a great new addition. Her interactions with Abigail and Olivia were lovely. Gabe was a good male lead. The duo of Abigail and Gabe worked really well. The only dark spot is Elizabeth. Her and Adam are becoming my least favorite characters- with Elizabeth taking the crown. Every time she talks, I hope someone will throw a pie in her face. Knowing I will never be rid of her kinda sucks, but over all I’m still enjoying the rest of the characters- with Olivia being the Queen!
Abigail has been enamored with Deputy Hanks for some time now, but she’s not sure what his feelings are. When a murder case falls into Gabe’s arms - quite literally - Abigail is determined to help him. Together, they set out to find the truth of who the actual murderer is...as well as their feelings for each other.
I actually had a very hard time liking Gabe for most of the book. Abigail was very forgiving. I don’t think I would have been, had I been in her shoes. He was a kind of a jerk and was harsher than need be with Abigail, let alone Margaret and even poor Timothy. I felt sorry for both of them.
Gabriel was the sheriff in town and wanted to keep control of things. When a woman faints getting off the train he takes her to the hotel, where he sees Abagail. While his heart is rapidly beating. The young woman has no recall or even name..Now there is murder in the town, and that is causing problems with someone he loves. Good plot with a twist
I am enjoying this series more with every book I read in it. I read the series the Nurses of New York, I learned to love the work of the author then. I hope to be able to enjoy many more of her stories.
So far I've read all five books in this series and I hope to read all. This author is great at writing her stories.Clean stories, mystery, love, making friends etc.My only problem is I can't stop reading theml
A young woman, with a mystery attached brings the protective spirit of the ladies to bear. Wanting to ensure that the woman is given a far chance, Abigail puts herself in conflict with Deputy Hucks, to ensure that the whole truth of the woman's plight is uncovered.
A great addition to this awesome series. The characters are appealing and the plot heartfelt. I am so glad I found this wonderful series on Kindle Unlimited. Happy reading!
This is the story of Abigail and Gabe. She has now married off all of the girls working at the Brody. I did enjoy the detective work they did in Whicita. 5
Deputy Gabe and Abigail set out to solve a murder mystery in Wichita. People com and go at the Brody Hotel.
I just really enjoy this series. I read the first four in June and now I am back reading some more. They are not long, they are delicious little story morsels. Well edited (my current pet peeve of ebooks). Vivid imagery. Characters I would like to know in real life. Read the series in order and enjoy.
*Sigh* I didn't want the book to end but am so excited there are more to read! There's a lot of friction and underlying sadness but the joy of them finally coming to terms and falling in love is great! I love how this series is set how the characters have such wide personalities and it feels reappointed author adding struggle making the characters come to life! Excellent must read series can't wait to read book 6
Ohhh wow! Such a wonderful book must say this one is my favorite so far, but then think I said that bout book 4 , Amelia Adams grows as a writer with every book she releases. I could not put this book down it had me at the first page... Must read!!!
This story was well written and held your interest threw the story. The Marshall was very handsome I thought. You could see each character in your mind. You were their!
Amelia Adams does it again with this romance full of who-done-it intrigue. I enjoyed this ongoing series about the women who work at the Brody. Abigail was not a woman to be denied. Sweet romance.
Loving this series. Started the series two days ago and am about to start book 6. That pretty much says how enjoyable they are. I simply can not put them down, wondering what will happen next.
I've been waiting for Abigail and Gabe's story and it does not disappoint! This one throws in a little mystery with the romance. I love action with my romance and Deputy Marshall Gabe is a fine man to drool over!
