Absolutely awesome devotional, journal, and study book. I love how the book was designed with a weathered look. It will surely be placed among my treasured items. I loved how my quiet times seemed to turn into something almost poetic as I moved from day to day. There was truly a deeper intimacy experienced through this study of the One and Only - Jesus.

This 90 day devotion is the first one of Beth Moore's I've read, but I will be reading more! She brings Jesus to you so you can see and feel him every day. Truly a wonderful way to start each morning!

Beth is a woman who loves Jesus so much, who loves scripture so much, and it shows in her teaching. It's undeniable to anyone who has ever encountered her through her teaching, whether in person, on social media, or in her books. Anyone (John MacArthur) who's ever been caught belittling Beth Moore has in my opinion done so out of envy and arrogance and a need to let themselves, like Beth, be consumed by Jesus. This book would be a good place to begin.

What a book? I started this book with the intensions of reading it within 90 consecutive days. I set a side a time before going to bed when all was quite. Our Women's Bible Study decided to do this book. I have taken two Beth Moore classes in which I learned a ton, was challenged. But this book is not up to Beth Moore standards.

First, I know it is a devotional, but the questions at the beginning of each day are surface-y and do not tie in well to the scripture verses. Secondly, she states in a bunch of different ways that she wants us to "use our imaginations and picturing the events as eye-witnesses," or "convinced that God wants us to get involved in our Scripture reading." Yet, she continually tells you what SHE THINKS, what SHE IMAGINES. If her intent was really to help you explore, imagine and learn to picture, the questions would be more about 'I wonder" and helping you to imagine. Third, the prayer section, again is her prayer. There is no guidance to lead you into a prayer time, no suggestion to meditate on this Scripture, or walk you through the discipline of Examen or lectio divina's as a way of praying, learning, growing.

If my Bible study wasn't doing this as a group, I would have asked for my money back.

Jesus: 90 Days with the One and Only by Beth Moore
Was a little skeptical about this one after finishing David as I didn't want chronology. I wanted inside of Him, the One and Only. Ms. Moore put me many days right inside the heart and mind of Jesus in human flesh. Being the perpetual student, I filled a 5 section notebook with notes, prayers and Scripture over 180 days. I felt I was walking with Jesus the whole way, from birth thru the cross and up to heaven. He is truly sitting at the right hand of God, loving me, and waiting for my season on earth to be over so I can join Him. What a glorious day that will be. I was truly blessed by the different writing style of this book over her others.

Although I liked the Scripture readings for this devotional journal, I didn't enjoy this one as much as John: The Beloved Disciple. I think I'm at a point in my spiritual life where I don't get as much out of Beth Moore materials as I once did (not to mention that, doctrinally, I sometimes disagree with her beliefs and assertions). Although I understand that this particular group of devotionals is referred to as the "Personal Reflections Series," I wish that the book had been less about me and my experiences and more about reflecting on Christ and His experiences.

I've read many of Beth's books and have been extremely pleased and blessed by them. I've also attended / lead a number of her studies. I have loved every one of them. I am sad to say that this was the only one of her books that I did not think was quite up to the standard of books. It was very good, I just had a hard time sticking to my reading it daily.

I've never read Beth Moore before. I wonder if a book where she's not constricted by the format would be better as a first book of hers.

Each day has a front page, a scripture text, the main verse, a couple questions, the exposition, possibly a follow-up question, and then a page with the beginnings of a prayer with space for each person to continue the prayer, if they choose. (As my copy is a borrowed copy, no writing was happening in this book.)

The scriptures are organized in chronological order of Jesus' life, including his parables and talks. One or two verses from the day's reading are chosen as "the focus verses". The questions are mostly ones that connect to the text, sometimes not.

The format seemed to control the topic or the exposition of the text. The first couple days had "three" pages (front, back, front) of exposition from Ms. Moore - and it was a shock when the format shrunk her exposition down to one page (front). So the reader never knew from day-to-day whether it would be a longer exposition or a shorter exposition.

Most days, I didn't get the sense of "this day with Jesus" - most days it was "with Beth Moore"...... it was only rarely that I got a "day with Jesus". So some days were "excellent", some days were "ok", and then other days were quite explicit about her viewpoint and theology.

I struggle with how to rate this book. I would give the audiobook a 3, but the physical book likely a 5. I listened to the audiobook, but since this is a Bible study each day starts out with saying “Read Luke _____”, but when I’m listening while driving my car I can’t look up a Bible passage. I wish they would have included the passages in the audio version. The devotional itself was very good though, and I was familiar with the stories in each passage so I could follow along even when I couldn’t read the original text.

Can’t say much more about this book except that I’ve literally read it through 4times, and maybe more.

This is all about Jesus - His life that He came to earth to live out with us, for us, and through us. I especially love reading this in the morning so that my day starts with hearing about, thinking about, and talking to the King of Kings. I love Jesus more every time I read through this devotional/study.

i really love Beth's work but this one was a bit too much about imagining myself into moments of Jesus life and having emotional reflections on those moments than in learning about Jesus and what He was saying and doing during His time here. There is so much rich material in the life of Christ for exploration and contemplation, I just wish we had spent our time on more of that and less on our feelings.

Loved this book as a deep dive into the last days of Jesus’ life. While it’s a 90 day book, if you read according to the author- I really like it for a Lenten study with doing two a day. This may rush the content a bit, but it’s so appropriate to do during lent to really focus on what God has done for us. ❤️🙏

A friend of mine gave me this book and the two of us went through it at the same time. I am not a huge fan of the author, to be honest, but there were good insights and the Scripture reading plan through Christ’s life was a helpful tool.

Interesting thoughts and takes on biblical events. Learned a lot, worth a second go to engrain. Some creative imagination that’s explicitly not meant to be taken as fact, but helpful exercises to put ourselves in a closer place to the events of the crucifixion.
