About Me I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.
I live in the great Northwest region of the USA, with my gorgeous husband and soul mate, two boxer/collie puppies, one old biddy cats, and three fish. When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

Fuck Cade Creek. Fuck Sammy. Funny Hank. Fuck Jack. Fuck helping people in Cade Creek only to get either beat up immediately after or punched in the stomach by the person you helped. Fuck that diner. Fuck that motel clerk. Fuck that nurse/doctor that wouldn't give Noah pain meds. Fuck Cade Creek.
They were all pissy because Noah knocked up some girl and left her? That happens EVERY DAY! Phoebe is an adult. She may not have acted like one, but she's an adult and made a choice. Now she has to live with that choice.
I already bought the next book or else I would say fuck the rest of this series.
I'm so pissed off. I wanted Noah and Raff to leave and not look back. Sammy and the gang needs to grovel something fierce to earn any respect from Noah and Raff. These two could live a much happier life elsewhere. That whole entire town judged Noah and for what? I get standing by one of your own, but at least get all the facts right.
Noah made me cry. Made me bawl so hard :(
I HATE that these two are still in Cade Creek.

Ever since seeing another glimpse of Noah at the end of the previous book in the ‘Cade Creek’ series, I have been wondering what his story might be. His previous appearance in book five wasn’t exactly flattering - he tried to make his brother Sammy take responsibility for the pregnancy of his mistress, pretended to be Sammy’s lover to make Sammy’s boyfriend go away, and was a true bast*rd all around. Based on the blurb for this book I knew I would be in for a few revelations as well as an interesting story, and I’m happy to report all my expectations were fulfilled – and then some.
The opening pages, with Noah being relieved about the accident having ruined his hand, took me by surprise, and I was immediately intrigued. What follows is the story of a man who desperately needs to redeem himself, as well as a journey from a cold, loveless life dictated by others toward a life of self-determination and full of love. Not an easy transition, by any means, but Stormy Glenn makes it work beautifully.
Noah is so depressed and beaten by life that it is a wonder he is still breathing. Yes, he made a ton of mistakes in his life, and as all of them begin to emerge, I was quite shocked. However, Noah is clearly trying to make up for his past and nobody is willing to give him a chance. Except Raff, and I loved him for that. Noah is trying so hard to be a good man now, and doesn’t expect to be forgiven. But doesn’t everyone who is truly sorry deserve a second chance?
Raff does not know Noah’s past history, and is probably the only one in Cade Creek who doesn’t. That lack of knowledge is probably the only way Noah will ever get anyone to listen to him. But besides being smitten, Raff is a good observer of people, and he approaches Noah with an open mind. It is still a hard battle to get Noah to open up, and I was grateful for Raff’s patience and stubborn insistence that he was going to find out the truth no matter what.
If you like stories about second chances, if you want to find out more about Noah and how he got to where he is now, and if you’re looking for a deeply emotional read about a man willing to make amends, then you will probably like this novella. I loved it!

God Noah's story broke my heart, the way these people treated him was disgraceful. Yes I can see why, but there is always another side of the story and Raff saw it. I'm so happy they found each other and I'm hoping Noah can release the hell he has lived and move on to have a happy loving life. This was heartbreaking, sad, but also loving, forgiving, and these two were sexy as sin. Loved this Love this series This was fantastic!!!!!!
Okay, so…. I hated Noah Helmond in Sammy and Hank’s book. Did not like him at all. I mean, he got some chick pregnant at his wife’s insistence and then tried to force his gay brother to marry her. He almost ruined things between Sammy and Hank and although he only somewhat redeemed himself in the last book with Joey and Harvey… I came into this one expecting him to bring his game. He had a lot to make up for.
But make up for it he did. I cried the entirety of his heartbreaking story. How? How in the world could his parents get away with all they did to him? How did his father get away with what he did specifically and they just let him ride off into the sunset with the love of his life, when he beat the crap out of Noah for years and paid four big men to sexually assault him? He held him down while his mother put cigarettes out on his skin…. How did he get away with that? I want to throw up, right now!!!
It also made me sick how terribly the entire town treated him. Very unprofessional and rude, did anyone even apologize? The waitress, the motel clerk, the coffee shop place, the grocery store lady? Thankfully, Elijah and Raff didn’t judge and gave him the benefit of doubt…. Thankfully Raff. I kind of loved him. Raff knew what he’d heard about Noah, but he saw the pain and suffering that Noah carried around with him. Let me tell you how badly I wanted to knock Hank around, and I love Hank! He should’ve apologized too!
I feel like so much could’ve been added to this book to make everyone make up for how terribly they treated him, but the book just ends so abruptly. Is there a word limit or something? I feel so slighted.. especially since each of these books cost a hefty penny for such short stories, you’d think we could get some closure or some justice… it drives me crazy because I love each story so much, but ugh….
Okay, I’ll stop whining. I’ll say, I love Noah, I loved seeing Happy, he was as amazing as ever, I loved Raff and how he was there for Noah, and I even loved the insta-loviness of it all. I can’t wait to see who’s next, but I really hope we get some closure for Noah and some justice with his father!
The Best Parts is the seventh book in the Cade Creek series by Stormy Glenn. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
Noah Helmond is recovering from a car accident that changed his life forever. A prominent surgeon, Noah has just lost the full use of his hand. Noah also is being ostracized by everyone in town. While Noah is trying to make amends for his actions even he has his limits as the people in town push him well past it.
Paul Rafferty is a firefighter and his need to help and protect are in overdrive with Noah. Paul has a hard time cracking the thick exterior Noah portrays. However, the more he gets to know Noah the more he realizes everyone in town does not know the real story behind the man.
The connection between Paul and Noah is intense. I loved that as Paul got to know Noah his attitude changed and he helped Noah deal with making changes. The sex scenes were scorching.
I found this book well written with a distinctive plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were enthralling. While the ending was a little predictable, this book is one that has a deeper message. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very fascinating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.

This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Also this is a spin-off of the Blaecleah Brothers series and takes place in the same town with characters from that series showing up.
This book was a complete surprise to me. From prior books in the series Noah Helmond has come off as a very cold and heartless man. To learn his true story was really sad and chilling.
Noah has kept up a certain image for so many years getting to look behind it was seriously revealing. Noah is nothing like what he has been perceived as. He is really a man who just wants a normal happy life with someone he loves.
To see him slowly open up to Raff was so sweet. Raff won me over as soon as he started questioning the stories he has heard versus the reactions he is seeing from Noah. The fact that Raff did not give up and helped Noah was touching.
I really think out of all the books in this series this one is my second favorite. There is something about a man who has been abused all his life finding someone to love and care for him. Noah was alone all his life, but now with Raff he has someone to build a life with.
This was really a cute and sweet read surprisingly.
This is book 7 in this series and I must say that in this book the ugly side of the residents of Cade Creek was exposed. The people in this town were judgmental, rude, obnoxious bullies. Their behavior towards Noah was horrible.
Okay, so Noah is recovering from a car accident that almost took his life. His career as a surgeon is over and to top it off, he’s being bullied and harassed by the locals. I am not exactly sure how they know so much about what went on between him, Sammy and Phoebe or how they even found out but it’s safe to say that NO ONE in that damn town has any business of their own to mind.
First off, you have Noah trying to make amends to people who he really doesn’t need to make amends to. All of this shade and hate thrown his way has absolutely nothing to do with the other residents of Cade Creek and they should have kept their noses out of something that had nothing to with them.
Let me go down the list:
Phoebe: Noah’s the so called mistress, the ‘sweet and innocent’, ‘victim’ wasn’t a victim at all. As I stated in my review of Starting Something that chick was far from innocent. I felt that she was in on the scheme with her father and Noah’s parents to get herself pregnant. As she stated before, she was ‘in love with’ Noah—who incidentally, she hasn’t had any contact with for several years prior to having sex with him. It’s not like she saw him every day. She made it seem to Sammy and the Blaecleah family that she and Noah had this long term secret affair where he took advantage of her because she was innocent and naïve and all of that when that wasn’t the case. The more likely story is that she was always jealous of what her sister had, she wanted Noah and was presented with an opportunity to get one up on her sister. When he didn’t run off into the sunset with her when she got pregnant, she became angry and vindictive. I didn’t buy that whole he-took-advantage-of-me act she was pulling. She knew more than what she told the Blaecleahs, Sammy and Hank. Noah didn’t rape, threaten or coerce her. The sex they engaged in was consensual and she was an adult. There is nothing innocent or sweet about a woman who sleeps with and gets pregnant by her sister’s husband. I’m glad Mrs. Blaecleah knew that and was able to get the truth out of that woman and shares that tidbit with Noah. It would’ve been nice if she shared that information with the rest of her clan.
Sammy: He got on my nerves. I didn’t like him or Hank in their book. He and Hank were my least favorite characters in the series. Sammy blamed Noah for virtually EVERYTHING that went wrong in his life. He make it seem like Noah dragged him by the hair back to Boston to marry Phoebe to cover up for Noah’s mistake. Noah didn’t force him back to Boston. He doesn’t take responsibility for hardly anything and then he turned his back on his brother when he needed him the most. Yeah, he came through for him in the end, but to me, it was too little too late. He and their cousin Jack’s holier than thou, sanctimonious attitudes grated on my nerves big time.
Hank: A worthless bully who beats up on a man who is half his size and injured. Yeah, he’s a real man, alright; beating up on someone who’s unable and unwilling to fight you back. He made it seem like Noah lied to him. What Noah actually did was stand by and agree with Hank—who because of baggage from a previous relationship—jumped to the wrong conclusion. If Hank would’ve been a man and stuck around and talked to Sammy, that situation with Noah wouldn’t have happened. Hank is a whiney punk.
The townspeople were also worthless bullies. First off, they inserted themselves into a situation that 1) they didn’t have all of the facts to and 2) wasn’t any of their business. Who told them about what happened between him, Sammy and Phoebe? Who? Are the Blaecleah men gossipy like little old ladies? They treated Noah so bad.
I’m so glad that Paul was there to stick up for Noah. He read Sammy for filth at the Blaecleah ranch. Sammy and Jack should’ve heard all sides of the story instead of listening to Phoebe and her lies. Phoebe told her version of the truth and Sammy, Jack and the others were quick to believe it. Sammy knew his parents were shady and abusive. If he knew what he experienced with them, wouldn’t it make sense that Noah caught the same hell—if not more since he was older— that he did? His defense of not knowing wasn’t a valid excuse for me. Paul basically nailed it when he told Sammy, “you didn’t want to know.” Not only didn’t they WANT to know but they didn’t CARE. Even after Noah revealed the physical and mental abuse and his rape, Sammy and Jack accuses him of lying!
Seriously?! What purpose would it have served him to lie about that? And this was after his parents just tried to kill him! Unbelievable.
Well after Sammy finally sees the light and I guess they told the townspeople because they all decided to pull together to stand behind Noah. But in my opinion their actions were too little, too late and basically useless. I would’ve told them all to kiss my toukas. That man went through hell and survived with his strength and Paul’s help. The only people in Cade Creek that showed him kindness were Paul, Happy, Mrs. Blaecleah and Billy’s husband (can’t remember which Blaecleah son it was).
The book should have been titled The Worst Parts because that exactly what we saw in this book. The residents of Cade Creek turned out to be bullies, nosey gossips and judgmental busybodies. We got the worst parts of them. If I was Noah, I would’ve packed up my man, our dog and gave them all the middle finger as the town was fading away in my rear view mirror.
This next to Happy’s Ever After turned out to be my favorite in the series.
The books in this series have mild-to mid- level violence and may deal with issues such as domestic/family violence, physical, mental, sexual abuse and rape so if those are your triggers, I would recommend you skip those parts.
This book is part of a series and as such should be read in sequential order. It is recommended that your read the Blaecleah Brothers Cowboy series as their characters cross over into this series.

Well. I always did like to shovel my own grave. And why should I expect more from a book in this series, seeing how it’s an offshoot of that series, where former protagonists routinely turned into complete jerks and bullies if the plot of the new book required someone to be mistreated in every possible way. Although I have to say that the guys in this one are taking it rather far by beating up an injured man who does not even attempt to defend himself. Nice work, evil twin of the author.
This is a silly story, of course. Wallowing shamelessly in Noah’s plight and his heroisms that no one seems to notice in between beating him up. What a horrid little town. Judgemental as hell and quick to kick a man while he’s down. Not a speck of compassion for someone who’s clearly on his last leg. Jeez. It just makes me dislike everyone even more. With the exception of Raff and Noah, perhaps, but definitely that of Happy, who turns out to be the only person who does the decent thing. Go figure it has to be the “slow” guy. Actually, I quite liked the bit with Rourke. That was sweet.
The rest of it? Completely ludicrous. The only reason I don’t dislike this book as a whole is because it was just so out there that I couldn’t take it seriously, so I tried to enjoy the shameless moments of righteousness and comfort as much as I was able to.
Firefighter Paul Rafferty/Raff sees Noah, injured Neurosurgeon, and knows the man needs him. He's being beaten by his brother Samuel's partner. Noah just saved a woman's life and doesn't deserve this.
The Best Parts is a great M/M romance !! Feelings for Noah are coming fast and Raff is not ashamed of himself for his feelings, when he feels he is the protector. Noah likes the emotions they feel. Well written and interesting, with hot M/M sex, and wonderful characters, this story will make you happy in the end.
It is quite a sad life's story for abused Noah, but once he finally tells people of his abuses, they rally around him. His stubborn brother Samuel is a tougher shell to crack. Meanwhile Raff is totally engaged in his romance with Noah, and wants him forever. Noah's abusive parents show up and all hell breaks loose. You'll appreciate the end result.
In Cade Creek 6, Better Than Good, Noah is the one who drove Joey and helped him escape his kidnapper and was injured.
Highly recommend this tender, deep feeling story of acceptance, forgiveness, understanding, and true love. ENJOY !!!
I wasn't sure it could be pulled off.. turning a previous bastard into someone you want to root for.. Oh wait... got Billy turned around and got the real truth so ....
Noah's got a whole 180 going on. At first I was thinking who the hell is this guy and what happened to the cold bastard?
The more in depth look behind the scenes wasn't what I was expecting.
Since I read book 8 before this by mistake, I am confident that saying moving forward into book 9 that laying off the abused storyline background would be a great heave hoe from this point forward. There's plenty of things that can become an issue or cause a ruckus besides this.
3.5 Because... wow... I saw a side of Cade Creek that... for the first time ever, made me HATE them. I REALLY, REALLY wish Noah and Paul(/Raff) had moved away and had cursed the town and that the town would have seen how awful they were and that even Sammy would spend YEARS begging forgiveness of his brother. That everyone would try to gain his forgiveness for YEARS.. because his treatment was absolutely deplorable! I HATED them... I really just couldn't believe it. I really, really wish they had left and made a happy, happy life elsewhere.
This book is a part of the Cade Creek series but it is so much more then just another sweet book in a series. It tore up my heart and made me cry.....the ugly cry. I love Noah and my soul bleed a little for all the horror he suffered trying to save his little brother from people who are supposed to love them. Thank goodness for Raff, he saw beyond the mask and took the time to get to know the real Noah not the facade. My only complaint is I wish we could spend more time with Raff and Noah. Thank you Stormy for a beautiful story.
I give 4 stars to Noah and Raff, and 0 stars to fucking Cade Creek. I think the relationship of the protagonists was the best thing in the book, Raff faithfully believed in Noah and was there for him, willing to leave his "home" to find a better place for Noah. THEY REALLY SHOULD GO OUT OF THERE. Now, what happened to Cade Creek? everyone was crap, i think it's ridiculous all the fuss with the pregnant girl, hello???It was an adult giving consent, please. They all acted as if the guy had abused her. Fuck everyone except Happy, he was a sun as always.
How could I possible give a crap about Noah after what he did to Sammy? How could I not? This poor guy. I'll admit I may have had a little eye leakage with this one. He was just so broken. Completely and utterly broken. The romance with Raff was actually secondary for me in this book. So weird. I just wanted Noah to be okay and for someone (besides Raff) to not treat him like a piece of crap. Again, really rushed but could have been fantastic!
Omg, I cried and cried and when I was done I cried some more. This was a very emotional read for me. I absolutely loved it although I don't think the town has suffered enough yet. Just my opinion. It was a great read.
I don't have anything negative to say abt this book but I do think it's totally hilarious that literally EVERYONE in this world is gay. like everyone lol!! only in the MM romance world does this happen. but I love it !
This is my favs from this series. I loved the concep and the fapt that Raff has bean with Noah 100 %. That he belived in him and take his part even agains the town. The town acted like idiots and i wanned to bang ther heads a couple of times! I loved both Noah and Raff.
What a stupid story !!!! Noah who seems to be an asshole but is actually a good guy ! There is a limit between a believable story and utter bullshit ! !! His father paying 4 men to rape him to show him what it is to be gay ??? Then, firing a gun to kill Noah because he is getting a divorce ? His mother and ex-wife ending up dead and Noah marrying his guy minutes after their death ??? Come on !!!! So stupid !!!!
I hate the people of Cade Creek and Noah's brother for treating Noah like a rubish. I Hate why Noah and Rafe did not leave that town behind. I hate how Sammy return the sacrified Noah had given him with treating him like he had a leper.
Well this was great I Loved it this series all together is outstanding and I can't wait to read more of this series ....I will be watching for the next book...
Yep. Noah’s story was just as heartbreaking as I imagined it would be. I’m glad he had Raff to help him, although their insta-love wasn’t very realistic. Who knows? I do believe in love at first sight so maybe it wasn’t that big of a stretch.
