A new paranormal series from Stormy Glenn, with bear shifters, is a good thing in my book. Add the fact that they have a “secret town” called Pacific Cove where they all live, a tragic event in the past, and that twins share a human to mate with, and I was intrigued. The human mate in this first book also seems to be in trouble and his fated mates are two hot firefighters – yep, count me in. And in case you are wondering, there is no twincest involved, just the loving sharing of a human who needs as much protection and love as he can get.

Danny has not had an easy life. His family may have given him physical shelter - as little as they could get away with, but they rejected him emotionally. Danny is also a klutz, so he is a very frequent visitor to the hospital, but he is determined to make it on his own. He moved out of his cruel father’s house as soon as he turned eighteen and has been scraping by ever since, but he wants to be a graphic artist, and nothing is going to stand in his way. But then two handsome firefighters turn up a week after Danny’s twenty-fifth birthday, and his life changes completely.

Ben and Abe are twin bear shifters, and they have been waiting for Danny to become an adult (which happens at twenty-five in this shifter world) so they can claim him. They thought Danny was well taken care of, in fact they sent a lot of money to the man Danny thinks of as his father, but what they discover when they come to take Danny home is anything but what they expected. As if that weren’t bad enough, someone is now out to kill Danny, and Abe and Ben have their hands full not just explaining the existence of shifters to Danny but also to stop him from getting killed.

If you like strong, protective, and somewhat possessive shifters, if a human rescued by his fated mates appeals to you, and if you’re looking for a read full of surprises, stubbornness, and lots of loving, then you will probably like this entertaining novella.

We open with Danny getting his wrist in a cast. Danny, Abe and Ben are destined to be together, but we have a rocky path. Mild mannered, clumsy, but big hearted, Danny, does the best he can. He's worked six years to afford his apartment, school and food. He's called to his "Dad's" mansion and goes. He doesn't know what's going on because his "family" usually hates having him around. Abe and Ben are there to sign contracts and claim their mate, Danny. They have waited until he is 25. All of the meanness that his family has shown is discovered, because they have received millions to take care of Danny, from Abe and Ben, and kept the money for themselves, and not cared for Danny at all. Strong and tall, Ben and Abe sign and take Danny out of that horrible hate filled house, and cancel that final check to pay the family. It falls to the men to explain everything to Danny, and so they begin. They are shifters, he's their mate, and have been waiting to claim him. Sweet Danny is confused. We have some action, confusion, rescue, and discovery. Everything comes to light, along with the evil people getting their due. This is a short story, but we get a lot of good writing and background to keep us informed. Wonderful characters, hot sexiness, and an interesting tale make this fun. Lighthearted, no angst, action, fast paced, with acceptance and understanding.
ENJOY !!!

I’ll start by sincerely apologizing:

But I had to check out on this one. It just didn’t tick my boxes. Or let me rephrase that. I loved the idea behind the story, but there were way too many of the wrong boxes it ticked for me.

So many loose ends I can make a bouquet out of them, and don’t let me get started on the general level of inelegance there seem to be going on in this little jam-packed treasure.

I’m sorry, it was just a little to much.

I'm not sure that I have enjoyed the beginning of a new series as much as I did 'Inferno'. I adored the shifter lore the author created with twin bear shifters and a human creating a three-way mating. A fascinating concept.

Danny was way too easy to love and I really would have loved this story to be longer so I could enjoy more of him. Ben and Abe were sweet and hot - everything you want out of a fated mate.

I would have liked to see that horrid man who raised Danny and caused him so much pain, get his comeuppance, but maybe in another book.

3 1/2 stars.

I love the simplicity of the paranormal worlds, Ms. Glenn creates. People (especially the main characters) always seem to get over what could be life changing new in a hurry. Oh, you can shift into a bear...well, okay. We're mates and you're going to share me, very cool! It takes much to freak her characters out...not even the fact that main character, Danny is suddenly learning truth behind his family and the fact that he is now mated to two sexy firefighter bearshifters seems to bother him too much.

So while there is some instalove, there is also enough conflict to make it a bit understandable on why these characters fall for one another. And the three men fascinate me...twin brother's willing to share a mate!?! I was lucky if my siblings shared a candy bar with me.

Overall, I really enjoyed another book by one of my favorite authors.

nope-octopus-gif

I don't know why I bought this book. I honestly cannot tell you what my thought process was, to make me decide to buy this. I mean, I love cheesy erotica, and shifter novels, and twins, and probably all of these things factored in. Plus, the writing in the sample chapter was solid, definitely readable.

But I spent the entire time I was reading it wishing I'd spent a few bucks on a cup of coffee and donut instead.

Look, this is erotica, so it's pretty much porn without plot, which I'm fine with. In fact, I'm pretty sure the basic premise-- lonely, geeky boy who is not loved by his family finds that he is destined to mate with two super hot twin shifters-- is a big reason for why I read it. Mindless, glorious fluff.

Still... a whole lotta "nope" for me!

1. Stop talking about "owning" people in a relationship. It's not sexy. It's creepy.

Abe and Ben are alpha males. They're shifters, okay, I get it. But they alternate between treating Danny like he's a piece of hot ass that they can own, and like he's a fragile vase to put on a shelf. Danny is obviously a grown up. He's survived his crap-tastic family, he's going to school, supporting himself. Yes, he's super klutzy, but he's obviously not bothered by it.

So why do Abe and Ben have to act like he's a cow that they bought at auction?
"Do you know the victim, sir?"

Ben glanced at the detective taking his statement. "Yes, his name is Daniel Lake." He didn't care if they hadn't gone through the official commitment ceremony. Danny was his and Abe's and he dared anyone to say otherwise. "He belongs to me and my brother."

2. Unrealistic timelines

Danny meets Abe and Ben. He has sex with them like a day later. It's true love.

dos-equis-shaking-head-exasperated

Even Danny points it out in the novel... just because they're mated doesn't mean they're instantly compatible.
"Are you sure about this?" Danny asked hesitantly. "I mean, how can you know for sure we're supposed to be together? This isn't a romance novel."

(Of course, two seconds after saying this, they're having sex. So.)

And then there's the background relationship between Nurse Betty and Vinnie (one of Danny's friends). This novel happens over like two days. At the beginning of the novel, Danny introduces them. TWO DAYS LATER THEY'RE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING. Seriously.

3. Unrealistic sex

Oh my god. Stop it. Please.
Danny had just experienced six orgasms in less than an hour, no doubt a record for pretty much any man breathing.

What?!

And then the double penetration, which was another huge WTF moment.

I just.

No.

NO.

firefly-mal-hesitation

4. Implying a plot but then not following through

This is such a pet peeve. If you're going to write erotica with no plot, awesome. If you're going to write erotica with a plot, also awesome. But don't hint at all of this plot and then just ignore it until it's convenient.

Bear shifters! Wars between shifters and hunters! Great tragedies in the past! Abe and Ben's family! All things that were mentioned like once, and then ignored unless needed.

And don't even get me started on the "villain" of the story. Let's just say it was even more unbelievable than the six orgasms in 60 minutes thing.

Final Verdict?

There's erotica that's so bad that it's good. This is not that. I was hoping it would be, because I really love cheesy erotica, but just nope. A whole load of nope. (But hey, it's really short, so there's that going for it?)

Audiobook Review

This a fun little read. A predictable trope of two large alpha bear shifters mating a spunky smaller human. It is a classic Siren m/m/m book, but with a bit more story than normal. Danny is a lovable klutz who has been abused by the family that was suppose to take of him for his mates. The twins, Ben and Abe are twin bear shifters who have known Danny was their mate since childhood. There is a tradition in their clan of twin shifters/human bonds. Thankfully there is no overt twincest in this book, they take turns. But it is still a little weird because to claim him, they have to "take him" at the same time; tricky. There is a little drama because someone is trying to kill Danny. There is actually a little bit of character development so the men are not completely two dimensional. All in all, a good read and I look forward to the next book. The narrator does a good job although I would have preferred a little more diversity in the voices.

When you're in the right mood...a Stormy Glenn book can hit the spot.

If I had read this any other day this week, I wouldn't have been as happy this story. But since I read it when I did, it a nice change of pace.

A bit of fluff.
A bit...okay a bit more than a bit, more like a large helping of DP.
Sweet.

A nice pallet cleanser after some dark reads.

3.5 atars but not good enough to round up to 4 stars

Typical shifter/fated mates sort of story but with the interesting addition of an extremely clumsy human as mate. I always enjoy the geek element in any story ;)

Well... I started off making a list of each and every grammatical error, but the list got excessively long and the story was so interesting, I just said, "Screw it! and gave up... on the list... NOT the story! *grin*

Yes, the errors were horrific, but Danny was just so absolutely adorable it was worth every single one of them! Then there was Abe with his issues and Ben trying to hold everything together... Not to mention an a**hole guardian and my review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the evil step-mother! Can't say that you see very many of those in M/M stories! But, this was an entertaining introduction to a new Stormy Glenn series, which to be truthful, I am used to the ridiculous amount of grammatical errors, so that really isn't an issue for me, but it might be for others!

Looking forward to book #2... ;D

Abe and Ben are twin bear shifters who have come at last to claim their mate, Danny. Danny has been lied to all his life by Charles who was supposed to take care of him. Charles was given money to take care of Danny but stole it for himself instead. Danny doesn't know he is the mate of Abe and Ben or that they are shifters. To add a wrinkle, Danny's supposed new stepmother is trying to kill him. All works out and Danny accepts his new relationship with happiness.

A below-average fated-mate shifter tale. This time it is twin bear shifters sharing a human mate. It is loaded with overused scenes, stock characters, and generic use of tropes. There was no real chemistry between the characters and the author spent her time throwing out the standard scenarios rather than building characters one could care about or whose care for each other made sense.

I got it already: Danny is a little man.

There is way too much exposition here, too much thinking for the little number of conclusions to reach.

I'm a little creeped out by the fact they're brothers.

Why did he take so much for a just a few days?

Danny sounds like he's about 12.

When someone faints, that aren't sleeping. It's important that they're woken up to make sure they're okay, that enough oxygen is getting to the brain.

Wow, that was one hot sec scene. This is working for me because it's two big men doting on the little guy, putting him as the center of their world rather than most books where the little guys are trying to please the big guys and it feels so arrogant and daunting.

I like the Nativr Alaskan mythos.

They are moving WAY too slowly for people in a fire, taking time to wrap up some belongings in a blanket before putting them I a pillow case while the room is filling with smoke!

They already took the car stuff upstairs.

How could I forget this author's rampant sexism and lack of positive examples of womanhood in her books? The one positive woman is of course the traditional homemaker. I think that's a wonderful role and I'm happy to see it but it pisses me off when that's the only positive role for women in her books. And that there are no make homemakers.

Seriously, the villain gives a full confession convinced they've won. Oh criminy.

They're describing a snowballing romance between two other people that started due to Danny and now they're engaged. That action happened yesterday!

Why did they remain six weeks when he could have recuperated at their home?

5 times in 20 minutes with a sixth ready at hand? He wouldn't have any ejaculate left.

There are a couple of breaking the fourth wall ironic moments like saying that this isn't a romance novel and another place saying the villain in stories always died after revealing their plot.

The last few days? They've slept once.

That was the silliest world and the lamest plot ever but god was the sex hot.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series and look forward to meeting more sets of twins in future books.

Many years ago there was a tragedy in a small town called Pacific Cove. A lot of people were left devastated and to keep Danny O’Shay safe he was moved to the city with his family. The move came with the understanding that he would receive the best of everything and be brought up with the knowledge of his people’s history.

Roll forward 20 years and Danny is a charming young man who is a bit of a klutz who has certainly not had the best of everything, has not been well looked after and has absolutely no idea about the people of Pacific Cove or their ways. He has also come of age and it is time for him to return home and take up his rightful place within his community.

When summoned to his father’s house he is filled with trepidation about how the day will go but he could never in his wildest dreams of thought up the scenario he finds himself in. Introduced to twins Abe and Ben who are Danny’s idea of walking wet dreams he is quickly whisked away and gets a fast introduction to who the twins are and who he is to them.

For all the years that Danny wished he had someone to love him and fight his corner for him he now has all that and more, in fact he now has that twice! Abe and Ben are hurt and angry at the way Danny has been treated over the years, the way they have been lied to and the way Danny’s father has conned them. Explaining to Danny who and what they really are may prove easier than they thought as someone seems intent on killing Danny and they begin the most important job of their lives – to save their mate and bring him home.

Very disappointed

I've read a few by this author now and have long since accepted that these are just a fun read. I don't expect classic literature or intricate plots. And there isn't usually very deep and meaningful characters or descriptive settings.
However, once you accept these for what they are...a bit of light fun and rather hot sex..then you're usually ok. But this one fell apart for me on too many levels that it just felt terrible.
Firstly the dialogue and language was awful. So many corny rubbish..who wants to hear descriptions of gorgeous men like their chests the width of a bus, and them having baseball bats between their legs! I mean honestly. There were many more and stupid phrasing littered throughout .
Then there was the fact that Danny is hesitant to go back home with the brothers he's only known a day (understandable) and is rather fearful that he's just found out they're bears (also understandable) but then he begs for kisses and in a blink (literally) they're all having sex! I mean come on. Even in a shift/paranormal romance of mates etc, there must be an element of believability but everything happens in a rush. Not to mention I was looking forward to his visit to Pacific cove and when they get there it's to claim him in some random clearing without any description. No idea what the place looked or felt like. I was looking forward to seeing Danny meetings family and his reactions, but there was none as that's skipped.

If all that was wanted was sex then people could just read porn..what's needed in books of this genre is romance and plotlines that's paced and believable. Even by this author's standards it was rushed and soppy language with no substance behind it. They fell in love in a day..ridiculous.

Danny manages to trip over air and the hospital staff is on a first name basis with him. But he will take his make shift family over the one God gave him. That is until he learns his family isn’t who he thought it was. In Inferno the first in a new series by Stormy Glenn, Danny learns not only has his father lied but shifters exist. Can he trust the two men who claim he is theirs?
I loved Danny. He was such a klutz but adorable all the same. I loved his warm heart and the joy he had even within his shyness. And when he met Abe and Ben he wasn’t quite sure what to expect. He was attracted and it was obvious they were attracted to him but could he accept their crazy?
Abe and Ben have always known Danny was theirs. What they didn’t know is the lies and lack of care he received. And their mating urges are riding them hard. The only problem is not all Danny’s injuries are due to his clumsiness. Protecting him has just been added to the list of things they must do. But first they must convince him that not only do they want him but shifters are real. Ms. Glenn never makes it easy for her characters to find their happily ever after but I do enjoy the journey and this was no exception. Danny’s sense of self was low and he struggles to accept that Abe and Ben want forever with him. I loved the differences between Abe and Ben and what they brought individually to a relationship with Danny. Ms. Glenn did not assume the twin brothers were interchangeable and neither did Danny. This story was full of laughter, love and family. I am looking forward to where Ms. Glenn will take us with this new series.

dp via twins to become mates. check
this started out pretty good with danny being treated like the red-headed stepchild of his family. he's a klutz (that's always fun to read about), his mates are twin firemen who have known for years that he's their mate. so they wait. the douchebag family of danny's are a real piece of work but they aren't fleshed out enough for me. the someone's after him (danny) didn't see that one coming and realized that I really didn't care if he was killed or not just to (oh no - spoiler removed by me).
were the twins bears or wolves? anyone

Inferno [Pacific Cove 1]

Adorably sweet little story. Hot as crazy too.
Add two big, gorgeous, sweet bear-shifters twins (hell yea, fcking twins, that alone is absolutely yummy!) and the most adorable klutz as their mate and holy hell!

The few typos are not that bad or that many that'd take you away from the sweetness and holy hotness of the story and the POV switches between all 3 MCs
Sweet and totally hot HEA for you. Though I wouldn't mind knowing how this twins would go about sharing their mate ^^

I'll be reading this again.
And again and again...

nice read for all of us who love a shifter story.
at first I didn't like the idea of two brothers sharing one mate, especially since they had to "mate" him at the same time. it still was a little awkward, but the main focus was laid on Danny at all times, so the final mating scene wasn't that irritating.
there are some time lapses though but that isn't to bad eather.
for me as the reader it seemed like there was only a day between meeting Danny and him being rushed to the hospital. maybe I missed it? I'm not sure since English is not my first language.

Such a great story! I wanted to destroy everyone who was mean to Danny. The way that Ben and Abe got so angry on his behalf and protected him was beautiful to see. Everything about this story just grabbed a hold of my heart strings and I either wanted to strangle someone or hug the stuffing out of them. A truly wonderful love story and I look forward to more brothers and their mate. :)

Great..

Inferno is a well developed story with a host of characters that are developed and a story line that leads into a world about which I want more. Pacific Cove 1 promises just that. I hope to read more about Danny, Abe and Ben and then about the rest of the family. Much is left open at the end of Inferno. I hope for more about these mates.

A great start to a new series by one of my auto buy authors. There were a couple of things I would have liked to see explained a bit more, to do with the twins and a human parenting dynamics, but this is book one, we will see how things develop in the world building. Book two is on my kindle ready to read.

This is a well put together story. The characters are developed throughout the story. The chemistry between the three is sweet. There is some violence but not to graphic. The sexual scenes are on the graphic side. A very good story. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
