When I first started this book, I was a little confused. It felt like I had been dropped off in the middle of the plot & I had needed to read a book before this one....but I didn't miss a book & it wasn't the middle. It was just a lot happening & personal issues (life be life-ing in the worst ways sometimes) had my brain sort of frazzled. I got myself together & started reading again from the beginning, & I'm sooooo glad I did.
When you're born, you have a piece of the 'Unbound' inside of you that holds your magic. Priests/officials (I think that's what they were called but I'm not sure) 'seal' the splinter (it's what is used in the book) so there is essentially a limit to your magic until you come of age. Some seals are more heavy than others, the more powerful your bloodline the heavier/thicker the seal. This is an interesting plot to me.
Elin (fake name btw) is a badass FMC. She wasn't born into a great situation & grew up fighting for her life. She also was born into a place where she wasn't sealed at birth, which means she has no cap on her magic. When she got the chance to get out of where she was, she bartered something she shouldn't have. She has spent years searching for the thing that she traded for her freedom, but now she has to infiltrate an Academy to find it. She has her forged papers & now she's a 'student'. Then Fatebinding day comes & everything becomes more of a dumpster fire. She is bound/mated to 3 huge powerful individuals (jealous of her....🙄).
Viggo (MMC) dragon heir that all of the females (& probably males) just swoon over. His ego makes me wanna smack him in the forehead.
Lorcan (MMC) wolf shifter that is feral as fuck (love that) & everyone is afraid of him. He asked her if she was safe.
Edern (MMC) dark fae.......need I say more? (he is my favorite). He gives her the hand of someone who wished her harm.....yea **swoon**.
Having a bond with the 3 of them keeps making her hold on her magic slip, which causes a little bit of chaos, & she is terrified someone is going to find out what her magic is & how powerful she actually is. She starts to trust her mates & let them in a little bit. Then she is held captive by the friends of the hand....she gets beat pretty good & when they were holding her down & getting ready to rape her, she let the leash on her magic go completely, & that most definitely is a chaotic shit show.
& that is where my review ends....because the book rudely left me hangin (I absolutely did NOT appreciate that) & now I gotta wait to find out what freakin happens!! Overall, I really liked everything about this book. There are some very minor typos/grammatical errors, which didn't catch my attention longer than to note it. I really like the premise of the plot so far & the spice is really good, it is not overly descriptive but enough that you can imagine it perfectly.

Ever since I had the absolute blessing of discovering Serena Cross through my ARC Book Readers Club on Facebook with Mistmoor Academy, she has completely solidified herself as one of my all-time favorite Reverse Harem paranormal romance authors. I devour literally anything she writes! When Stolen Fate—Book 1 in her brand-new Fates Academy series🧞—was recommended to me out of nowhere on Amazon, I was instantly hooked. (I definitely need to start paying closer attention to upcoming release schedules because missing this drop was almost a crime!)
Serena Cross has done it again, but this time she took her brilliant storytelling to an entirely new level. In a genre that is often saturated with the usual fae, shifter, and vampire tropes, Stolen Fate breathes incredible, refreshing new life into the paranormal RH genera by giving us a captivating Jinn (djinn/genie) lore in our most famed academy setting. The magical world-building feels rich, unique, and totally immersive from the very first page.
The Heart of the Story: Elin & Her Mates
At the center of it all is our incredible heroine, Elin. She is resilient, fierce, and a delightfully complex protagonist you can’t help but root for as she navigates the mysterious, high-stakes realm of Fates Academy. Her undercover mission to reclaim what was once lost lands her right into the Academy with forged records and an equally false identity. There she is caught up in a mating ceremony, only to discover she has not one, but 3 powerful mates.
The main Characters are:
• Elin: Strong, determined, and full of heart, she holds her own against every obstacle thrown her way (bullies and mates) at the academy while trying to wrap her head around her dangerously unpredictable magic and hunting the one who took something vital from her.
• Her Mates: Lorcan, Edern, and Viggo Each mate brings a totally distinct, addictive dynamic to her circle. You get the perfect blend of brooding protectiveness, intense magic, sharp wit, Golden boy energy. The relationships just begin to form in book 1. I have no doubt that book 2 will come with even more intense bonding time amidst all of the chaos book 1 has left us with.
Final Thoughts & That Cliffhanger!
Between the unique Jinn magic, and the sheer tension running through every chapter, Serena Cross proves once again why she reigns supreme in paranormal reverse harem Academia field.
And can we talk about that ENDING?! The cliffhanger left me in a total tailspin! I am desperately counting down the days until Book 2 drops—I need more!!!!!!
If you love academy settings, unique supernatural lore, possessive yet devotion-filled mates, and a badass heroine, do not walk—RUN to read Stolen Fate.

This book was so good! I love a dark academia, mates, and spice combo in a book.
I devoured the whole book in under 12 hours. It hit all the best dark academia vibes while also sticking with the plot. Some curve balls were also thrown in while locating the djinn (3 mates maybe a bigger curve ball than she expected).
The author included just the right amount of details so you can visualize the story.
The ending hit the perfect balance of feeling like a solid closing point while still making me desperate for the next book. Roll on book two!
Also - Aggie better get out of this new persona in book 2. Shes my favorite and I cant have her acting stuck up lol

Elin
What a fantastic beginning to Elin's story! I finished this book in 1 day! Once I started reading, I was hooked until the end!
This book had mystery, danger, secrets, and action. Throughout the story we get more information and slowly learn how and why Elin is at the academy. However, we are now left with more questions and that cliffhanger ending!!
I really liked Elin. She is definitely a fighter, she is also determined, and strong. We see her open just a bit towards the end. Im hoping she starts trusting her guys.
The guys... I feel like we have only scratched the surface on them. I can't wait for the next book. I hope we get even more from them.
Overall, I loved the book and I cant wait to find out what happens next!

Great fast read. Definitely moments that made it hard to put down. Strong female main character and fated mates. I definitely enjoyed the world, and magic. There was definitely spice to be found amongst the pages. Overall, I would love to read the next one to see what happens next.

This was en excellent shorter read for a first book. Loved Elin and her story. Felt so bad for her poor eyes in the first chapter. Camt waits for the next one
