"So just to recap, Fae wolves, pixies with attitude problems, at least one confirmed dragon, a torn veil between realms, and the seven of us sitting here with starter-pack magic. Congratulations, everyone, we're living in a high fantasy novel. I want it on the record that I did not choose this genre, I was promised a normal apocalypse..."
I've been waiting so long for this one! And now I'm dying for the next book too. I still love this mashup of an apocalypse with worlds/magic mixing. We saw less of the different creatures in this one that we saw from the last book, but more of the characters' powers. It's also very focused on character building, which is what I love about this author. Feelings and reasons and conclusions are shown and explored, and nothing happens out of nowhere.
Gigi is still a badass, and my first choice for my team in an apocalypse.

I really loved this one! ❤️ What I found most interesting about this series is that we’re not jumping into a world where the apocalypse happened years ago and everyone has already figured out how to survive. We’re actually watching the world fall apart in real time, while Luna and the others are trying to understand what is happening and figure out how to survive. I really enjoyed that part of the story. 🌙🔥
We get to see Luna and the guys slowly adjust to this completely new reality while their powers start developing and their plans for survival begin to take shape. There is a lot more character development here, and I loved watching everyone discover what they can do. The relationships between them are also getting deeper, and FINALLY, we’re getting some romance! 👀❤️
And all the kissing… YES PLEASE! 😂💋 I was waiting for this, and I loved seeing that side of their relationships finally start to develop. There are so many sweet moments between the characters, but there’s also plenty of humor, which made the book really fun to read.
I also really felt for Luna in this one. She’s dealing with so much while trying to understand her powers and the new world around her, and I loved seeing her struggle while still trying to move forward. The group really feels like a family now, and that made the emotional moments hit harder. 🥹❤️
I had such a good time with this book, and then the author decided to DROP THAT CLIFFHANGER ON ME. 😭😂 Holy moly, was that really necessary?! Now I desperately need book three!
Another amazing addition to the series. I’m SO excited for the next book! 🌙🔥❤️

Reese is one of my favorite authors. The character development, the plot, it’s all good.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I think there could have been more substance for into this book.
The first 60-65% of the book happens over a 24 hour period. It’s a lot of logistic, packing, driving etc with a little quirky dialogue sprinkles in that’s not really about anything important. I’m not gonna lie that was a bit of a slog and I found myself skimming for a while. There are entire chapters that could’ve been condensed into one sentence. “We stopped by Reid’s house and I shook my head as Kara packed up her 5th Louis suitcase.”
62% on was just chefs kiss! The pacing was perfect. The drama kept me invested and turning the page. I didn’t put it down once and I wish we would have had more of that. Of all the characters interacting and living through their first days of the apocalypse. The last 25% of the book seems to cover about 4 or 5 days maybe? And it was perfect.
I think if the first 65% would have been condensed down to 25%, it would be a 5 star read for sure!!
Really looking forward to book #3!

Absolutely brilliant dystopian romance
As with everything else Reese rivers has penned, I absolutely could not put the book down until I had finished. Be warned there's a cliffy! And I cannot wait until the next release to find out what happens!
Finding out that this storyline was originally written by her previous pen name and has been combined with the current genre she writes about now.. Oh *chefs kiss*
The world and character building is everything you could want in a great dystopian novel, so combining that with the romance aspect she currently writes was the cherry on top for me. It has it all from work ending events, magic, love and drama.
Though the spice is minimal so far there's plenty of build up to it and the storyline is so immersive and engaging I've not missed it. Though we have been promised the third book changes that. So I'm here for it all! Truly looking forward to the next installment of the series!

4.25⭐
I think I might have been expecting too much from this book. Was it good? Yes. For the most part. But somewhere in the middle I started to get disappointed. I think decisions were made that didn't altogether make sense, and those decisions led to major conflict.

I hope this series only has three books because my heart cannot take it anymore
5/5 I loved this book and it was absolutely worth the wait. However!!!!!!!! The wait for the next one is too much because I have some unresolved tension that simply cannot wait.
This book frustrated me in the best way possible because it was so well written that the usual suspects (eh hemm! Bible thumpers, not to be confused with regular believers with some sort of decorum and common sense) really got me off on a tangent yelling with myself while reading lol. I only wished that I could have read this series after it was complete because I NEED TO KNOW what happens next.

I loved this one! It was hilarious and so sweet, and I really enjoyed getting to see everyone’s gifts develop and watching their plan finally start to take shape.
There were plenty of funny moments, but there was so much heart in this book too. I really felt for Luna while she was struggling, and I loved seeing more of the relationships between the characters as everything unfolded.
Now I desperately need to know what happens in book three! I’ll also absolutely be buying this one in paperback when it releases because I need it on my shelf.

Still an interesting, but wild, series. This book focused mainly on the characters and while I like that, it did feel like it needed a bit more to it. On the fence about several of the characters TBH and my enjoyment was more in the 3.5 range, but I was laughing a ton due to Reid’s animal conversations, so I rounded up. There’s a cliffhanger and I’m definitely interested to see where that development takes the story!

Omg, so good!! That ending, I knew that something bad was gonna happen!! This book was everything I love in dystopian romances!! The wait for the next book is going to be agony! I loved that the guys and Luna have finally established their relationship! That ending was insane, I definitely think that Reid is a shifter! Counting down the days for the next book!

Sucks you and won't let go
Love the premise behind this with the multidimensional layers and seepage. I can't wait to read the next book. Great story. Great character development.

So good…but that cliffy!!
I am beyond frustrated with myself for reading this before the series is complete. I know better, and yet keep doing it…ugh. Impatiently waiting for the next book to come out.
