The Intimacy of Control

Jackson Manning
Don’t breathe. Don’t think. Just sink.
A motto I’d chanted nearly every day of my life, content to bask in the serenity of the water surrounding me. That was until I’d lost control. I’d lost in the hands of nature, finding myself clawing my way through the ocean current and, in turn, every second of my life thereafter.
I hated not having control. It would eat me up inside. Everything had to be perfect, or my entire life would go up in ruins. One wrong move. One wrong night. One person could change everything. Just like Forrest Castillo—the only man I’d ever thought about giving all my control to.

Forrest Castillo
When I walked into Driftwood Jack’s, I hadn’t expected to go home with the owner. I also wasn’t expecting to like him so much. Thankfully, I could handle rejection. Because Jack kept rejecting me, but we also kept running into each other. I called it fate, and he called it a coincidence.
Sure didn’t feel like a coincidence whenever he leaned into the hand I had around his throat. But what would I know?
I just knew Jackson Manning desperately wanted to give himself to me. He kept saying he couldn’t, yet wouldn’t explain why.
None of that mattered, though. I had enough patience and determination for both of us. And I sure as hell wasn’t going to give up.

The Intimacy of Control is an MM hurt/comfort one-night stand turned more romance, featuring a man terrified of romance and a man who's... apparently not afraid of anything. Expect a lot of yearning, a hint of groveling, and a whole lot of scenes that'll make you look over your shoulder to make sure no one else can see.

The Intimacy of Control is an interconnected standalone in the Intimacy of series. It can be read alone, but it is best enjoyed after reading books one and two. This book contains heavy themes that could potentially be triggering. A detailed list of trigger warnings is included in the Content and Trigger Warnings section.

C.W. Scott has spent his entire life in the depths of the Deep South, dreaming that one day, he’d write hundreds of happy stories to counteract the bad ones. Starting as a poet, he eventually found his passion writing MM romance novels that maintain a lyrical and poetic essence in their style. Much like his poetry, his writing includes dark, difficult themes and brings them to life with a heartwarming, hard-fought HEA. Don’t ever ask him to cook or solve a math problem, though. I have loved every single book in this series, and I literally cleared my schedule the second I knew I’d be able to read this one today. It did not disappoint!

Forrest and Jackson waste no time building a connection. I usually worry that an insta lust plot will burn out quickly, that was not the case here. Their chemistry is strong from the first page, but what kept me interested was the depth. I wanted to know more about who they are and the reasoning behind their behaviors.

I love the way Jackson's backstory is revealed slowly throughout the book leaving me reading to figure out why he has such an intense need for control in every aspect of his life. You can feel the tension leave his body whenever he is with Forrest and he’s finally in his safe space. I also have to shout out the excellent aftercare in this book. Forrest takes such good care of Jackson in the sweetest, most attentive ways, never pushing him further than he can handle.

I will admit, there was a brief moment where I thought the third act breakup felt a little forced. However, once the reasoning was revealed, it all clicked into place perfectly. I do wish we got just a little bit more from Forrest and his background. I just want to know everything about them!

It was so great seeing so much of Callum and Tobi, and I loved the brief appearances from Crew and Price as well. I am just so sad that this is the last book. C.W. Scott, please reconsider and give me Jesse, Liam, and Isaac's book, and then just keep on going forever. I am not ready to be done yet!

Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. I'm not sure if it was the writing, the story in general, or I just didn't connect with it. I ended up skimming a lot and mostly reading the dialogue. I think it was a lot more telling and less showing??

I'd say 2.5-3 stars, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I need a minute...well, maybe I need more than a minute. C.W., you did it again! You know what you did...you made it impossible not to love Jackson and Forrest! And I do, I love them!

The Intimacy of Control takes us on Jackon and Forrest's journey as they learn about themselves and each other as they fight for their HEA. I promise, there is a happy ever after! C.W. did what he does best, and gave us two characters that are filled with emotion, have each experienced real and believable pain and found the 'magic' in life. Their back stories are heartfelt, realistic and handled with care and compassion. Something else we have come to expect from C.W. There is no shortage of spice in this story either! There were absolutely times where I needed to fan myself and kick my feet because it was so damn good!

Jack and Forrest's story flows well and for me it was almost like watching a movie. I could see their exchanges, hear the inflection in their voices and even imagine what The Driftwood looks like inside. There are cameos and special moments with the entire OG crew, so we have the chance to see how all of their lives have progressed with this timeline.

The Intimacy of Control is the third and final book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone it does contain spoilers for the first two books. This series is best read in order, in my opinion. I promise you won't regret investing the time. I'm sad to say goodbye to the OG crew and their large extended family. Please take care of yourself and read the content warning before you start the book. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.

✨️pure magic
As expected from CW Scott, this book was incredible. Jackson and Forrest's story was a hard fought HEA but as per usual with this series healing love is the centralized theme. No spoilers but I hope that when people read the stories of these characters they are as effected as I have been. This series has been some of my favorite reads of this year, please check content warning but read these books!!

ARC REVIEW

A great addition to the series! This one was a fun read with plenty of heat and low angst. Forrest and Jackson have instant chemistry and definitely belong together. It was great to see how their connection developed to something more over time.
It was also wonderful to see some familiar faces from the series, and I loved River!
I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy hurt/comfort and plenty of heat.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Beta read.

The chemistry between these two are 🔥🔥.

I love Forrest and Jackson, and I am so happy and honored to get to meet them and read their story! The growth Jackson does when he finally realizes that Forrest is the one and that his heart is safe with Forrest is beautiful. And Forrest, this sweet romantic loving kinky man finally got chosen 🫶🏻.

As usual when it comes to a CW book, READ IT!!

I honestly wasn't prepared for how much I was going to love Jackson and Forrest. 🖤 This was such an addictive combination of hurt, vulnerability, yearning, control and chemistry, and these two completely pulled me into their story.

Jackson Manning absolutely broke my heart. His relationship with control runs so much deeper than simply wanting everything to be perfect. After what happened to him in the water, losing control became something he was terrified of. He built his life around avoiding that feeling, keeping everything exactly where it belonged and never allowing himself to become too vulnerable.

And then Forrest Castillo walked into his life and basically ruined all of those carefully constructed walls. 😂

Jackson wants him. He clearly feels the pull toward Forrest, but wanting someone and actually allowing yourself to trust them are two completely different things for Jackson. Every time he starts getting closer, that fear of losing control creeps back in. I loved watching him fight against himself because you could feel how badly he wanted to let go while simultaneously being terrified of what would happen if he did.

Forrest, meanwhile, was EVERYTHING. 😍 He's confident without feeling pushy, patient without being boring, and completely determined when it comes to Jackson. Jackson keeps rejecting him, but Forrest can see that there is something underneath all those refusals. He doesn't just walk away because things are difficult. He gives Jackson the time and space he needs while still making it very clear that his feelings aren't going anywhere.

Their relationship had me hooked because the power dynamic between them is constantly shifting. Jackson is so used to being the one in control, yet Forrest somehow manages to make him feel safe enough to consider giving some of that control away.
And THAT is where the intimacy of their relationship really comes through.
It's not simply about attraction. It's about trust.

For Jackson, allowing someone else to have control means exposing a part of himself that he's spent years protecting. Forrest understands that, and seeing Jackson slowly become more comfortable with vulnerability made their relationship feel incredibly satisfying.

Jackson and Forrest had me in my feelings, and I absolutely loved watching them find their way to each other. 🖤

WARNING: This book may get you pregnant. Seriously, the spice is SPICY!!!🥵🥵🥵
This is book 3 and closes out the Intimacy Of series. Although this book is less angsty than the previous books, Jackson and Forrest’s story still deals with some pretty heavy topics such as trauma, healing and Jackson’s ability to relinquish control.

Jackson is a bar owner and exercises complete control in every facet of his life. He doesn’t date but instead has a series of one night stands where he can release control for just one night. He doesn’t do repeats. No one can get close.

Meanwhile, Forrest is younger and owns a bookstore (LOVED the Double Coverage plug. Morgan Sloan is one of my all time favorite authors too!). Forrest meets Jackson at his bar which ultimately leads to a one night stand. I’ll say it again, DAAAAMNNN, the spice is HOTT!

There’s no way one night will ever be enough for these two. However, while Forrest is down bad and wants a repeat, Jackson is sticking to his guns and keeping his distance.

It takes a lot for Jackson to finally let down his walls and let someone else have control. Control is Jackson’s safety net to keep him from freefalling into his past trauma. It’s not until he meets Forrest that he begins to realize things about himself and truly face his demons. I loved the symbolism behind magic and how it grounded Jack in a way nothing else could.🥹❤️

Forrest is patient and kind with Jackson which is what Jackson needs the most. Forrest is immediately enamored with Jackson and is willing to do anything for a small chance with him. The friend dates were hysterically cute. The spice! I feel like I keep forgetting to mention the spice! 😂. The way Forrest took control had Jackson melting putty in his hands. The lace panties!!!

I loved the cameos from the previous books and seeing their interactions. Cal & Tobi truly are great friends to Jackson. This was such a great ending to the series.

CW Scott's books have this ability to put your heart in a vice.  The raw emotion, vulnerability, heartbreak and unforgettable MMC's that will leave you in tears but keep you coming back for more. The Intimacy Of books are one of the most beautiful series I have ever read.  And for me, The Intimacy of Control, is the best installment in the series.  Forrest and Jackson's love story is captivating.

Jackson Manning, oh this sweet man has so many walls up and rightly so, after experiencing a traumatic moment as a teenager he needs to have control in every aspect of his life.  Until the day that Forrest Castillo walked into Driftwood Jack's and unapologetically altered his perfectly controlled life for the better.

Forrest Castillo is everything Jackson never knew he needed or craved.  His take charge attitude, happy go lucky personality and caregiving nature is so beautifully written. Forrest just makes me smile, he is one of those character's that you want nothing more than to make sure he gets everything he wants in the world, which in this case is Jackson.  The way Forrest lets Jackson open himself up to him, without judgement and actually listens to his needs, wants and limits is what makes their relationship extraordinary.
Now let's talk about their sinfully hot chemistry!!  This is the spiciest novel CW has written to date but it flows with the "control" aspect of Jackson and Forrest's story. Jackson trusts Forrest which is a true testament to not only Forrest's character, but Jackson's need to control every situation. Seeing Jackson's walls crack under the love and care of Forrest is truly beautiful.
We also cannot forget the found family of our precious boys from the previous Intimacy books - Crew, Price, Callum and Tobias as well as Forrest's mother and brother, River. These side characters bring so much depth and love to Jackson and Forrest's story.  Especially when Jackson and Forrest reach a crossroads where their supportive found family helped them realize their love is worth fighting for.
I will never stop raving about this book - the love I have for Forrest and Jackson is endless!!  I will be adding it to my best of 2026 list.

This is a read that dives right into the deep end of emotional and psychological wreckage, holds nothing back, and is so beautifully written the only word you can use to describe it is stunning! It’s raw and stripped, thoughtful, brimming with a depth that swallows you whole, the way it uses control, as freedom, as safety, as the one thing holding Jackson Manning together, is gorgeous, and the perfect counterpoint to the magic, the hope, and the need to never let anyone hurt that Forrest Castillo is all the way down to his core, and the way this read drives itself into your heart and burrows all the way down to your soul, unmatched and completely incredible.
I cannot get enough of the way C.W. Scott writes. It’s real, it’s never overly embellished, and his knack for getting right to the heart of a character and putting all their flaws out there, making you love them even more for all those jagged edges, is truly a one-of-a-kind talent. And that talent is on full display with Jackson and Forrest, two men who make your heart hurt, but also blow you away with how deeply they care and how so very right they are for each other. For every ounce of Jackson’s need for control, his nightmares, and his resistance to believing he deserves and can handle love there is Forrest’s determination, his ability to make Jackson feel so safe he gives up control without even realizing it, and his belief that when they’re together, it’s magic, and it is perfect and everything. They have almost an almost animalistic chemistry together, Forrest is the light and calm to Jackson’s fear and panic, and it is so amazing and literally makes your heart feel so light to see Jackson choose Forrest and Forrest always catch Jackson. A more than five star must read that will move the heck out of you.

ARC REVIEW

This was such a great series! The first two books were really heavy on Crew and Tobi’s trauma, so I was curious to see where Jack’s story would take us.

While this book still deals with trauma, Jack’s story feels a lot lighter overall and, especially, much spicier 🔥
His trauma shows up in a different way, with his need to have control over every aspect of his life, including who he lets close to him.

Forrest, the owner of a queer indie bookstore, walks into Jack’s bar and immediately sets his eyes on the cute bar owner.

Jack is only willing to give him a one-night stand because keeping things casual means he can stay in control.

But boy, is Forrest determined to break through Jack’s walls. He walks in with a smile and his sunshine attitude, and slowly shows Jack that he doesn’t have to control everything.

One of my personal favorites is when the younger MMC is the one providing the comfort and is also the dominant one in the relationship 🥹

Forrest shows Jack that there is a life full of love and happiness waiting for him if he’s willing to let go of some of that control and, most importantly, let Forrest love him.

I really loved watching Jack slowly learn that letting someone in doesn’t mean losing control it means finding someone you can trust enough to share it with. ❤️

And I loved the Morgan Sloan hype in this book 😉! Love it when authors support eachother ❤️

ARC Review
*mild spoilers ahead*

I’ve loved every book in this series, the delicious angst, the beautifully broken boys, the found family vibe, all of it. Jack and Forrest’s story is no exception.

The angst is a little more dialed down in this one, mostly thanks to Forrest and his sunshine personality, but there’s still plenty of hurt and trauma beneath the surface.
That contrast gives the story a softer kind of intensity without taking away the emotional weight I love about this series.

Jack has been a super interesting character ever since we met him in book two. As the story slowly reveals the experiences that shaped him, his choices begin to make a lot more sense. He has so many layers, and getting to understand the fear beneath his need for control made him even more compelling.

The way Jack’s fear and obsessive need for control shape how he connects with other people hit very close to home for me. It was easy to put myself in his shoes and understand why he keeps his guard up, even when Forrest is offering everything he needs.

And Forrest, sweet, lovely Forrest. He’s so different from the way the dominants are usually written, so caring and open. He’s the kind of character you can’t help falling for.

I also loved the way their relationship develops. As slow as the feelings part of it goes, the insta-lust and all the hot spicy scenes make for a super entertaining change of pace compared to the first two books.

C.W. Scott’s writing is phenomenal, as usual. The mix of introspection and banter keeps even the heavier moments from becoming overwhelming, and the beautiful imagery makes every scene feel vivid. There’s so much care in the way these characters are written, which turns every book into such an amazing experience. This one is no exception, and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

ONE OF MY FAV BOOKS THIS YEAR!
There’s not much else I can say.
The pining, the spice, the build up to Jack finally craving him, Forrest's relentles sattempts, it all immersed me so much.
Written beautifully to convey both characters, so much that you knew exactly who was talking without needing to check the beginning of the chapter. Forrest always felt so full of light. Yes his shadows might have been darker in some spots, but it felt exactly like his name hinted. A beautiful heartwarming world thriving and with so much life and sunshine to give. And Jackson, the perfect counterpart. He too had light inside him, but locked away by so much darkness that he needed a sparkle (of magic~✨) from Forrest to see that light, in himself first. The Cameos from the other characters from the previous books didn’t feel forced nor flat. They felt like they belonged and that they were thrown in there for the sake of it. Their journey kept on going in those pages and that was beautiful to witness, especially cause you could appreciate all those things without having read the previous books. And what to say about River, the brother I think most of us wish we had. He was the perfect push, and the mirror with the relationship between Jackson and Tobi was pure gold.
There’s not much to say. Thoroughly well written journey of healing, where both MMCs showed the other's good and bad, where both were accepted and held, where both healed. My heart smiled when reading the epilogue. This books goes in the “I wish I could forget reading it to read it again” pile. Brilliant!

Another phenomenonal read from C.W. Scott. The writing evokes such intense feelings. I could so relate to Jackson's need for control at all points, even when you're aware that you're not actually as in control as you pretend you are. Searching for control in my life is one of my earliest childhood memories. The peace and magic Jackson feels in Forrest's presence is exactly how I feel around my husband. His touch literally lowers my cortisol and allows me to sleep. I am so happy that these two found each other. I fell in love with Jackson reading Tobi and Callum story (which if you haven't read DO IT IMMEDIATELY, one of my top reads for 2026) so getting to see his happy ending thrilled me.

Forrest ugh... He was perfection. I loved the section where he talked about how he never quite fit in, never quite nerdy enough, not second generation enough etc. (didn't love that he went through that) It showed that Forrest is real, he's not some caricature. He's heavily tattooed, pierced, and a indie only pride bookstore owner who had originally wanted to be a librarian. I repeat, he literally sounds perfect to me. 😂 The way he said he'd never normally be able to be in the car that long with anyone else, but with Jackson it was seamless? Yeah, I relate to that too.

The realness of C.W. Scott's writing is what draws me in. I also appreciate that Jackson's trauma and phobia doesn't just disappear even as they work at it... Real life again. These two are so beautiful, I'm glad Jackson has the Castillo family.

What just happened to me? I read an entire C.W Scott book without crying! That's a first.... and I suspect a last too 😂

We were promised spice and oh did we get spice. Chapter 2 spice! It's felt unseasonably warm here for the last 24 hours and I am not complaining. It wasn't even the pierced 🍆, the breath play or the copious amounts of 💦 that did it.... the minute Forrest called Jackson "Sweetie" I was done 🥵.
So yes, both Jackson and Forrest have back stories that have shaped who they are in life and how they approach relationships. Forrest is a hopeless romantic who just wants to love and be loved. Jackson needs to be in control of every aspect of his life. His only concession is in the bedroom. He readily submits to Forrest and, despite his reservations about the age gap, fairly quickly agrees to a friends with benefits arrangement. We all know how those go!

I loved how much we get to see of the OG characters and how they impacted the storyline. My heart hurt so much for Tobi again when he was thrown back into his memories after walking in on Forrest and Jackson. I also adored Forrest's brother River. As the mother of boys I can confirm their relationship is EXACTLY what it's like between brothers. The constant bickering and name calling until one of them is hurting.... then they are your fiercest protector and strongest ally. River confronting Jackson because he made his big brother cry was everything.

The Intimacy of Control, despite it's main focus being on Jackson on Forrest, felt like the season wrap-up for all the MCs of the previous books too. We are a decade on from where it began with Crew and Price after they took control of their lives and are continuing to expand their business and their circle of found family together. Tobi continues to control his recovery and Callum's decision with what to do with his Papa's house felt like he was taking control of his healing process.

I would like to pose one question though?! Until reading this I never once thought that being in my 40s made me old, but suddenly 39 year old men are silver foxes?! Jackson is absolutely wonderful but surely still has at least a decade until he reaches that heady status 😂

Gah I loveeeeed Jackson and Forrest.

These two just worked. They fit so well. It took some convincing on Jackson's end from Forrest but man was Forrest persistent and it paid off so well.

Jackson needs control in his life. Outside of the bedroom, he thrives on it, without control it's like his life is slipping away from him. But in the bedroom, he gives up all control and Forrest is just the perfect person to take his control away from him.

Usually younger men are a bit more immature. Forrest was the complete opposite, while he was younger between the two, I felt he was more mature in certain aspects.

Their dynamic? Don't even get me started, it worked sooooo well for them.

I loved Forrest so much. He was just so sweet and adorable. He became Jackson's safe space pretty quickly and I love that for them.

I loved seeing Jackson's and Callum friendship expanded on. All these years later and they still have such a deep friendship and bond.

This is so much lighter and less angsty then other books in the series but it doesn't take away from how great of a book it is. You still have the normal hurt/comfort that C.W always delivers on.

I know that this is the last in this series but I realllllly would love more on Jesse, Liam, and Isaac and even River and Andros.. Give me more in this series and all these characters, loved them so much.

⭐️ 4.5/5
🌶️ 3/5

Main characters: Jackson & Forrest
Side characters: Callum, Tobi, River, Mav, Crew, Price
Page count: 272

First person, dual POV.

This was a beautiful conclusion to such a raw and emotional series. I really loved getting Jackson’s story. When we met him in the previous book there was no hint that he was dealing with so much beneath the surface. There was a daily struggle for him that he never let on to. He just continued to be the rock solid person that he was who never thought twice about being there for his friends. Then Forrest comes along and shakes up his world a little bit. Challenges him in all the exact right ways and gets him to start questioning how he is living. And Jackson really struggles with this. It was hard to see him actively deny himself happiness because of his trauma. But Forrest really was just a ray of sunshine and completely determined to break through Jackson’s walls. There are aspects of their relationship that have an intense dynamic, but it is precisely what they both need.

It was lovely to get to see so much of the OG characters from the previous books. We see the most of Callum and Tobi, but there was a generous dose of Price and Crew as well. It really brought everything back around and felt like excellent closure for the series.

The Intimacy of Control is the 3rd book in this series, and it’s definitely the spiciest one yet. 🔥

Although this one has less angst than the previous two, it still deals with some heavier themes like trauma, fear, healing, and learning to let go of control.

Jackson has been carrying trauma since he was 17, and it has turned him into a serious control freak.
He owns his own bar, does pretty much everything himself, and never has more than a one-night stand.

Because having a repeat would mean letting someone get close enough to see the parts of him he’d rather keep hidden…😔

And then there’s Forrest..
Forrest is a breath of fresh air. He walks into Jackson’s bar, they have a one-night stand, and Forrest immediately decides that one night is definitely NOT enough. 😂💖

He wants a real date.
Jackson wants to run for the hills.
And somehow, Forrest is determined to get through those walls.🥹

Jackson is fighting demons from his past, and watching Forrest slowly help him work through them melted my heart. 🥹❤️

There’s something so beautiful about the way Jackson can finally let go of control with Forrest. Especially because, for him, giving up control means trusting someone enough to be vulnerable.

And these two? MY HEART. 😭❤️

Also… yes, this is definitely the spiciest book in the series. 🔥 But it fits the story so perfectly and never feels like it’s there just for the sake of spice.

Another beautiful book by CW Scott. I really love the way he handles darker themes with so much care and tenderness while still giving us the romance, the healing, and the spice. 🔥

Sometimes we’re afraid to jump.
Sometimes all we need is a little push. ❤️

I have loved every single book in this series and Jackson and Forrest book was perfection. Jackson likes control he had a near death experience when he was younger and ever since he has a need for being in control. Forrest walked into the Driftwood Bar looked at Jackson and knew he was the "one". After their one night together Jackson's rules, Forest decides he is going to make a nuisance of himself until he wears Jackson down. He only believes that they are meant to be and if he has to chase him and be patient with him then he will.
Jackson is determined not to have a relationship with Forrest and keep his walls up. Slowly Forrest begins to bring Jackson's walls down and begins to show him just how good it can feel to let go. Jackson's story broke my heart the way he just broke and let Forrest pick him up. Even though Forrest may look like he has it all together but he is facing his own inner turmoil. When I read this I connected to Forrest and how he was feeling like no one ever chooses him. We all have felt that a time or two we feel like we aren't enough or that we don't have someone who will love us for who we are. C.W wrote a beautiful story the whole series is beautiful and I enjoyed every part of this book. The ups and downs and the in between Forrest and Jackson came out the other side with each other and together not apart.

Arc Review

This book is the best surprise. The Intimacy of Control is book 3 in the Intimacy of series.

Jackson is a relatable character. He lost control once in a situation he had no hope in controlling and he spiralled. He has surface level connections, and one night stands. Then in a span of one interaction over a bar top he is reeled in hook line and sinker by younger Forrest and his life is turned upside down and out of “control”.

Can I get a moment of silence for Forrest…
We collectively as readers have been graced with a walking, dirty talking, dominating, green flag. The way he is EVERYTHING Jackson has denied himself out of some warped view on control in relationships. Also did you read above when I said dirty talking, I forgot to mentioned, tattooed, pierced and yes even has slutty little glasses.

These two together have such hot and I mean HOT chemistry, but it’s also in the tender moments, the aftercare, breakfast and dreamless sleeps that seal the deal. Forrest is all in from the first moments and it does take Jackson some time to get there however when he goes all in, it’s game over.

As always the writing had a poetic flow to it, it weaves trauma and longing into yet another emotional page turner. I am unashamed when I said I have cried in everyone one of CW Scott’s book, until this one, that is not to say it’s not emotional but way in which the sensitive topics are addressed are different in this, not less or without the same care as always but differently and it is exactly what is called for here. The way Jackson becomes how he is and the lasting impact of his trauma needed a less tissue more blushing approach and in only the way he can C.W delivers. I could not put this book down , in fact hours of sleep were lost to read the conclusion in the Intimacy of series, and what a conclusion it was. 🥵🌶️

Jackson is the owner of Driftwood, a local bar, He has deeply rooted personal trauma that he deals with by trying to control every aspect of his life. One of Jack’s rules is only one night. He breaks this rule for Forrest, the owner of a local bookstore and hopeless romantic. The attraction between them is instantaneous and their chemistry is strong. However, what really draws Jack in is how safe he feels when he’s with Forrest. You can feel the tension leave his body when he’s with him and Forrest becomes the safe space that Jack doesn’t know and doesn’t want to believe he needs.

Intimacy of Control is the third, and I believe final book of this series. While this one isn’t as angsty as the previous two, I loved it just as much. I love how we got to see all the previous characters in this one and the found family dynamic between all of them. I felt like we got to see the “control” they all took with their lives and futures. Oh, and the theme? Dive in. Don’t let fear control you. It was the perfect.

I think I mentioned this in my last review of the previous book in this series, but CW Scott is one of those if they write it, I will read it authors for me. He doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. The stories are raw, emotional, and real; nothing is glossed over or minimized.

This is the second book that I’ve read by C.W. Scott and boy, I had a good time with it. I really need to read the other books by them because it was such a good time.

I love how they meet and from that moment on, Forrest is completely hooked on Jackson. He sees something good in him that he just doesn’t want to let go of. I love how quickly their connection builds because they needed each other more than they realized.

I loved the birthday chapter. This is when these two start to really get close.

The moment when a certain situation gets out of hand, my heart broke because I was like “they were just fine, what is happening?” but I knew in time it would be so worth it!

As usual, I loved the found family in this book. We get the cameos from the previous book and I really loved the relationship with Forrest that he had with his mother and his brother. The protectiveness that River had when his brother was hurting was everything. I want a book for him.

When Forrest learns of Jackson’s backstory and his nightmares, my heart sang for him. Can I just say that his parents are just god awful people?! It makes so much sense why he has been in control but when he meets Forrest, he gives Jackson exactly what he needs.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This book was a beautiful read.
Jack is a complex yet delicate character, trapped under the weight of trauma that makes him obsessed with control. When he meets Forrest and they have a one night stand, Jack finds he can give up that control in a way he never has before.
Forrest is pure sunshine! He is relentless when it comes to pursuing Jack and he never gives up. And Jack makes him work for it!!!
I loved their dynamic, the spice was hot as hell and the banter was first rate! This banter worked well to balance out the more challenging side of the story with Jacks trauma, commitment issues and Forrest’s poor sweet heart.
This is my first read by CW and I loved the writing!! It was absorbing; drawing me in without giving too much away and building tension and interest easily.
Forrest and Jack? Loved them!
Team Forrest ALL DAY LONG!!!!!

ARC Review (and thank you so much for the ARC!). I’m so happy to have gotten more about Jackson since first meeting him in the previous book, his no nonsense attitude was great but also I had the feeling there was something more there, and boy is there. This one runs a bit along timeline wise with the previous so you should at least read that one before, but honestly the whole series is great.
Jackson is a man who can’t sleep, he’s haunted, and above all he needs control but also needs to loose it once in awhile but very specifically. In walks Forrest. And he can help with that, he loves taking control in the bedroom and give his partners what they need and want. Too bad Jackson doesn’t do repeats, too bad Forrest is persistent. These two were amazing together, it just took one of them a bit to see it.
But learning about Jackson’s backstory, that was heartbreaking, no wonder he didn’t want to commit. Forrest’s duality of being in control but also a bit of a shy stumbling guy was also so cute, also huge book nerd so you know he’s just adorable. These two gave each other what they needed, it just took some time for them to find their way. This series was so amazing, each couple so different but perfect.

Jack & Forrest

ARC review,

I loved Jack from the last book because of how he looked out for Tobi so it was good to find out his story & it is so sad because of his accident leading to years of nightmares & his phobia because of the accident.
Forrest is a sweetheart owner of a book shop they have a one night stand & Forrest wants more. So they start a friends with benefits until they start to get feelings. What happened with Tobi broke my heart & it just shows that trauma never goes away.
I loved catching up with all the other characters Crew & Price, Callum & Tobi. I also loved Forrest's brother River & their mother & how they instantly welcomed Jack.
So all & all this was a good book & i was able to say goodbye to the series.

ARC review

I absolutely loved these two. As a huge hurt comfort fan this one really did it for me. I’ve loved all the books in this series but this one might have been my favourite. I just loved their dynamic. The way Forrest talks to Jack did me in, it literally had me melting. Especially the sweet pet names. The spice was also top notch. Finally, I absolutely loved the Morgan Sloan references. As a huge fan of hers myself I knew exactly where the Double Coverage reference was going when Jack was describing it.

At this point if you ask me, CW can do no wrong. Auto buy author!!!!

What a wonderfully soft ending to such an intense series! This whole series tore me apart (in the best way) and I didn’t know how much I needed it to end with a gentler story. While Jackson’s near death experience and subsequent need for control stemmed from very real trauma, it wasn’t as dark as our earlier characters experienced. All of it just felt softer. It was the perfect way to wrap up the series.
